May day baskets
Created with crisp doilies
Designed by excited giggling children
Filled with wrapped candies and popcorn
Left on porches
Hear those running feet?
The best part is not being caught after you ring the doorbell
May first
May day
A childhood tradition that puts a smile on my face

BABIES IN BASKETS

I could write so many words
Created to move, shake, and inspire growth
But I'd rather tell you of babies in baskets
Mothers placing offspring in steel cages
To ensure their continual safety
While piling food, toys, and drinks
On top of tiny legs
Making sure eyes are on the screen
Feeding empty mouths with scavenged product
...gotta bounce babies in baskets

she was created by my sister
made of bunny material
for Easter
a cloth basket where I put my sweetener

a store bought basket made of plastic
sits on another counter, holding bread and buns

a tiny crystal basket holds nothing,
simply adorns the place.

Decorated with frilly cottons
In floral, shaped like ruffled headbands
Longaberger basket, making a name for herself
Her seven-story building sits in Newark, Ohio

Buying All the Baskets

Aunt Martha had a knack for doing a lot with a little.
I spent a day watching her purchase a plethora of baskets.
She bought an assortment of sizes, colors, and shapes. 
What in the world was she thinking? She already had enough stuff.
A week later I visited her, and saw she had turned them into wall

Baskets

Slim elegance, pencil-sharp,
dark business skirt,
clean contrasts
where the black cuts
a clear white neckline.

Stretchy pants,
wide at the beam,
rumpled fore and rear,
a clear predilection
for sweats.

The two women
enter by the same door,
both will leave
by the same door,
never noting each other.

The fuzzy store-greeter,
stacks baskets,
none of which are different
until filled with choices -
samplings that speak
of each self-image.

Easter Baskets

Easter baskets are full of joy
for every nice little girl and boy.

Sometimes there is not enough, 
to share everything we have. 
But there is always enough, 
to share all of what we do have, 
every time. 

God will take care of the shortages, 
and use the abundance, 
that there will be…
to bring others to the table. 
 
That is the miracle

Birth of the Grudge Between the Baskets and the Liquids

Once ago,all natural elements were friends:
Sharing together time and lovely trends:
Plastics,pails,rivers,oceans and fruit.
Yams,pumpkins,were all bound by truth.

But one day...

Their sprouted an impromptu meeting,
Whose urgency hit if not all but few patience:
Barging into their privacy,
Denying them of their freedom.
And all agreed to go:
Even to the hall of the meeting.
