An Update & Heartfelt Thank You - Charles Fuller's Blog

<P><FONT size=4>Hello to all of my fellow soupers~</FONT></P> <P><FONT size=4>Boy I have really missed being a regular here on the soup.&nbsp; I want to thank everyone who left a message and prayer for my daughter, it was really overwhelming.&nbsp; I never expected such a large number of responses...to me it shows that we really are a close knit community and a family here at the Soup.&nbsp; Your expressions of hope and your positive messages helped ease the burden over the last month, and for that I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.</FONT></P> <P><FONT size=4>Now the update.&nbsp; We have met with the Cardiologist, and it is a definate that my daughter Melody will need surgery to repair the defect on her heart.&nbsp; As to date we haven't been given a date for the surgery.&nbsp; We must first meet with the entire surgical team to discuss all of the details and go over the required paperwork.&nbsp; On a good note, the Cardiologist, after examining Melody, expressed that she is in excellent physical health and believes that we can wait until May to do the surgery, and that her recovery time will be relatively short.&nbsp; We are still not 100% sure about the surgical approach, in all likelyhood they will go through her femeral artery to repair the damage, but their is a chance that&nbsp; that approach will not be sufficent and they may need to go through her chest.&nbsp; But she is in good spirit, and still living her daily as she always had.&nbsp; The strength of children always amazes me, here I am stressing out and losing sleep over this, and she is the one comforting me and telling me "It will be all right Daddy.&nbsp; I pray to God every night and you know he listens, I'll be OK".&nbsp; It makes me wonder which one of us is the adult in the relationship.&nbsp; </FONT></P> <P><FONT size=4>Anyway, thank you all again for your support and prayers.&nbsp; They mean so much to me, and have helped to keep me going in such a difficult time.&nbsp; God Bless each and everyone of you.&nbsp; Now on to the poetry.</FONT></P> <P><FONT size=4>PEACE!</FONT></P>

I have an adult friend who just had a transplant at Stanford and aside from a great deal of weight gain from the predizone (?) she is doing very well some months later. No doubt once it is all over, and your daughter is fine, you will be on top of the world when she says "told you so!". Barbara Gorelick Date: 1/20/2009 10:30:00 AM Don/t know you Charles but I will keep positive thoughts for you and your daughter. There is nothing more frightening than having a sick child. My son who is a young adult has an inplanted defibulator after collapsing while jogging. We are thankful for each day with him.
