Yesterday Faces: VE Day 2008

A farewell never passed
Our valediction lost to the winds
A lifetime of rage and anguish
Flowing hotly upon the detriment
And breaching.
Though not without conflict
It is under the shadow of war
Within these shattered burnt ruins
Remains the anguish
Of sixty three years
A recollection that seeps into the void
Of my spirit
Haunting my sleep…

An important part of our heritage and history. Let's hope the ACLU doesn't have this day banned so it doesn't offend the nazis. You still write with a patriotic flair. God Bless. Vince

I believe the shadow of war haunts us all. Perhaps some more than others, for personal reasons. This is a haunting piece of work in itself, with great depth of emotion. Your poetry always brilliant, and a true pleasure to read. Love, Shar
