A Thought

Is it meant to be?
But in control, I am not,
How I cannot see

Wondering all day
Your love, ever have I sought
Passing time away

For you my heart roars
With glee, now I cast my lot
May it be with yours

Passport In Hand

Passport in hand, lookin’ down the line,
Done it countless times, no need to look at the customs sign,
Pulled and pushed from one place to another, no reason to whine,
It’s just life, your life, all day every day, international like mine.

Passport in hand, dropping your bags in the new place,
Hoping It has a really good Wi-Fi connection or else it’s a waste,
Will these cultural foods even leave in my mouth a good taste?
You don’t know, about a lot of things, except it’s hard being a new face.

Passport in hand, but quickly put away because of the picture,
Yet again you have to find another group of friends in the school mixture,
Find out what’s cool, what’s trending to secure yourself in the popularity figures,
As the next new teacher stands and makes you welcome, to you it’s a familiar lecture.

Passport in hand, trying to not feel like a cultural alien, feeling socially spent,
You close your eyes, you see home, or what it used to be, now you’re a loner,
“Where will I be next, how will they react?”, don’t worry, that’s not your department,
Trust in Him who was originally the alien, trust in His promises and you’ll never be a foreigner.

The Window

I know you are there,
I sincerely do,
You are just so transparent,
I see straight through you.

The many people you’ve seen,
The little fingers that have tapped on you,
Leaving stains, fingerprints, and marks,
My, what you’ve been through.

Have you ever wondered, being there so long,
All the junk you have to take,
Being taken for granted, unappreciated,
Could this pressure cause you to break?

But wait my glassy, glossy, sleek friend,
You mustn’t worry or fret,
You can and will be recycled by those who care,
This is only your first life, I bet.

What Have I Done

What have I done to deserve such a faultlessness,
She smiles, pokes, and touches into attractiveness.

There’s nothing that can be said or done to divert her love,
It’s as if she is purely a being from above.

She loves me and me alone,
My life, love, and things to her I loan.

Whatever makes her smile, happy, or laugh, I do it a thousand times,
Because nothing compares to seeing her teeth and eyes sparkle like polished dimes.

If anyone ever didn’t deserve a woman so divine,
It’d be me, and yet despite her perfection she’s mine.

Lunar Life

Waxing and waning,
Giving and taking,
Walking and waving,
Using and making.

As the moon’s gravity pushes and pulls the tides by,
Your legacy, a single wave, is merely but a sigh,
But let this not be all, pull your waves up high,
Yes! high and mighty, as the hawk soars the sky.

Enlighten everyone with your bright side,
Ensure that your dark side is suppressed,
In trustworthy friends and wandering comets, you must confide,
Leave those that look upon your orbit impressed.

Push and thrash against your gravitational limits,
The best thing isn’t likely the thing you’re attracted to,
But like Finn and Sawyer in the books of Sam Clements,
It’s the people that pull you down and pick you up when your too high or blue.

Once a long time ago, you too were a growing crescent,
You had your entire cycle ahead of you, as free as a bird,
But let’s get real where time’s escaping, let’s get back to the present,
Use this time to give all those celestial bodies you did wrong, a redeemable word.

The Quilt

Two cloths exist in a certain space,
Different fabric, different race,
And yet so perfectly placed,
Just enough similarities to apply lace.

They’re both a little beat up,
They’ve both had some nasty experiences,
Given the same life cup,
But they’re love conquers distances.

And yet so different they make a perfect pair,
To each other, they lay their hearts bear,
For one another they would easily tear,
Together, no love could compare.

So without hesitation they wanted to be one,
Putting them together in a single quilt could be done,
They wanted, they wanted it before the setting of the sun,
After being sewn, they would, in life, harmoniously run.

Although it was a little difficult to be a quilt,
Trust and loyalty as a foundation would soon be built,
Even though there were some mistakes and some guilt,
The conquering love broke the knife for divorce at the hilt.
