Roadmap To Happiness

Don’t be like me

Don’t only find your creativity
When your four leaf clover turns out to be a weed
Don’t take that extra moment to rest
When you get knocked down
Don’t close your eyes and hope for the best
You need to see the path that lay before you
Don’t pay too much attention to the small things
They will clutter your mind
Don’t overestimate your ability to handle situations
Money and relationships need to be respected always
Don’t settle for anything
It will make you despise the person in the mirror
Don’t shut the world out
Your heart can only find happiness out there in it
Don’t wait for happiness
It is always moving and will not pause for you to catch up
Don’t share your problems with the walls
They cannot empathise nor offer any advice
Don’t let your ghosts haunt you
The will gnaw at your soul
Don’t be the guy people have to think twice about
Be genuine and good friends will find you
Don’t wonder what could have been
You didn’t do it for a reason, accept your choices
Don’t be afraid to take someone’s hand
Loneliness is not often followed by success
Don’t underestimate yourself
You may just be more valuable than you think
Don’t put yourself down
Others will do that for you
Don’t believe those people
Prove them wrong at every opportunity
Don’t lose faith in those around you
Life is hard enough without doubts within your social circle
Don’t show indifference to strangers
Your paths may cross one day and it just may be important
Don’t let your anger be your most prevalent attribute
Your life will mirror your actions towards others
Don’t be any less affectionate towards your parents
They loved you because you were special not because they had to
Don’t copy others
Your style could be the next best thing
Don’t take the road most travelled
The easy way may just the hardest to live with
Don’t let life get you down
Trying and failing is better than just failing
Don’t hide your smile
No jealous eye can steal what comes from inside you
Don’t let your passion fade
Be proud of at least one thing that you do or have done
Be brave, be daring, take risks
Be caring, be gentle, be awesome!
Be the happy, bubbly, amazingly beautiful person you were meant to be
Smile with your soul, Love with everything you have
Let your heart exercise as much as your body and mind
Whatever you choose to be

I Am a Man

Don’t tell me who I am to you!
Or who you think I should be!
You see me through your binoculars acting as if you knew,
As if you could ever know what I go through daily!
So don’t tell me to act differently
For I am the man I always wanted to be.
I am a man.

Who are you to tell me to change?
You think of me with your crippled mind
Venturing no further then your thought usual range!
And yet you call me ignorant and unkind.
I wouldn’t change myself not even slightly
For I am who I am because I am who I choose to be.
I am a man

I see no reason for you to be confused.
Its all black and white.
The information is ready for you, waiting to be used,
Waiting to be pieced together to aid your perceived sight
So that you may realize quick
That despite all you may think
I am a man.

How dare you say that I am wasting my life away!
It is my life to lead and I shall lead it the same
No matter what you might think or say
And I hope you understand if only to save yourself the shame,
The shame of knowing that I am my own person
I am independent, I am a product of my own creation,
I am a man.

I know who I am
Inside and out
Who are you?

A Life Unsigned

Hold my heart up for the world to see
Frame the furrows on my face
And revel in the character that they exude
Each crease a paragraph
Of the story thus far
A fauvist collection of lessons learned
Read deeper, between the bristled lines
To fully understand the relief
Each one etched by discontented happiness
Teeth without a smile
A portrait of fortitude
Of strength forged by unnecessary battles
A marked and scarred fortress
Erected by ever-watchful eyes
No more blood shall be shed
Time wasted being beaten by emotions
By brittle relationships
And iridescent infatuations
Hung out in front, still left unsigned

Bad Day

Today is a miserable day
Seemingly operatic in nature
But I feel it deep within me
I feel this void building up inside my chest
A malignant emptiness
The cause of my shallow breath

My tears dry in their ducts
Dapper attire cannot hide the discomfort
No one should see my pain
For any vapid empathy towards me
Would do nothing
But fuel this pernicious attack on my soul

Through My Eyes

Through my eyes…

You are the sunset over a beautiful summer’s ocean.
Your colorful show leaves me breathless
As I lie down to watch you move,
Watch you stretch your arms across the horizon
Draping the wondering clouds
In a masterful orange and purple organza.
And I see them strut across their makeshift ramp
Showing off their new clothes
To the rapture of the waves below.

What a show your presence creates

Through my eyes…

A Beautiful Love

Forgive me and my hearts love,
For loving as fiercely as it does.
For it uncontrollable,
Deep,
Desire
And for its aggressive admiration for you
And your beautiful love.

I understand the way it forgets to beat
When you are not around,
The way it hurts when you leave
For a minute,
A second
Gone,
With your beautiful love

Yet when my eyes catch yours
And our bodies caress each other.
Our lips touch and it feels like an eternity
Passes us by.
This is where I stand amazed,
For a wave of pure emotion
Flows from my heart,
Cleansing my soul of all discontent.
Of all worry and want.
Because of your beautiful love.

This is a feeling which I cannot fully comprehend
For it is so immense,
So herculean that it defies logic.
It warrants explanation yet laments a worded depiction.
It is undefinable to say the least
In short,
Beautiful.

Fixed

In faith, I trusted yet in truth, I lied.
In hope I despaired
For in those I trusted
I sought to find my heart repaired.

Reparation from a failed addiction,
From being a passionate man
And paying full price for my own indiscretions,
For being who I am.

So I seek solace within myself,
These dark and dusty caverns within my mind.
Away from over eager and imaginative lips
For this is my problem and my solution to find.

Rip

Thank you for helping me through my dark days
You helped me understand that being numb is normal
That you should not keep it in, that you should let it out
Out there for all to see because in the end nothing else really matters

You helped me feel less invisible
To deal with my loneliness
And to understand the bad decisions crawling in my skin
For I too had a problem with authority

There were times I wanted to run away
To find a place I thought I belonged
To forget myself and what I've done
As this burden was always more than I could carry

I feel as though I have lost my best friend
Who stood by me as my empire burned to the ground
Who found me when my voice was lost in the echo
That held my hand when I was one step closer to the edge

Because of you I gained the courage to face my enemies
I learned to embrace them and dance with my demons
And that the only one who can save me is me
But everything feels so heavy now

Just hearing your voice would put the pain in reverse
Which is why wear this mask of shame
For we the saved could not pull you back
When you were cold and lost in desperation
You were an entertainer but also my friend, my savior
Rest in peace dear Chester

The Destination

Hope springs eternal in the land of the open mind and heart

Steadfast they move towards that which never left their sight

Yet those who have lost faith in their fellow travellers

Will never see the beauty of stars hiding behind the darkness of night.

Or how they glow in streams of silver moonlight

Basking in their own piece of heaven

Painting pictures of unimaginable places

Places unsullied by course hands and insipid minds,

The back packers delight, their own personal unicorn,

A nautical point to which lifes’ compass beckons.

Forcing introspection, for the weary eyes of such travellers

And reconsideration of a once certain headings

Death of Soul

Today, I felt my soul dying.
A cry of help could be heard
But none could be seen crying
For they class my obsession as shallow and absurd.

Yet I carry on with my daily tasks
To work through this incomprehensible nightmare
Amongst those who carry a veil of emotional masks
Waiting, as those who Love, as those who care.

And I close my eyes to save my mind from this plight
To save my heart from recreating its surroundings
In the hope that others soon see the light
Actioned by those cast from different mouldings.

Slowly, but, steadily,
I can feel my soul dying.
