The One

I love the way you lie to me
And laugh and cry and smile to me-
Would want and wish to die with me;
I spare no love on you...

In grade school I had acted out,
And picked on kids until they'd pout.
In recess I would run and shout,
But I'd not yet met you...

Well, one night I had a crazy dream;
Can't quite remember, though it seems
That soon I would, and it be seen.
No clue it was of you...

Next day, the dream came soon to light
As butterflies inside caused fright.
Love came, when came a pretty sight-
My girl, that sight was you...

Pondering Wanderer

Sometimes I wander
O'er hills and down yonder;
Sometimes I just can't understand.
There are thing unexplainable,
So few things attainable-
Knowledge for all I demand...

I've seen the Earth's edge
And from now on I'll pledge
That the meeting was not to be found.
We're meant to be brave
And insist we can save,
But I still don't believe the Earth's round...

Ha! Ha! We all say, until finally the day
Comes for all to find out the real cause.
When laughter yields tears
And the answers are clear
That none deserve any applause...

As we all find humility,
And our pains are undoubtedly
Worse than we'd ever known prior
To this, and it's true,
And whatever we do,
We'll not think of ourselves as the higher...

We know that it's easily said,
As we lie down each night in our beds,
That we know what to do at all times.
But coming down to it
You, too, made them do it.
And I am convinced most are blind...

We should have been prepared,
Instead of bravery, we were scared,
And we'll no more deny all our faults.
Though we all have our vices,
Turn them into crises,
We're all merely humans who fall...

Siren Song

Whilst sailing cross the seas of shame
I heard her calling me by name;
She sang as though a symphony,
So sweetly she did sing to me...

'Twas oh so sweet a Siren Song,
I sailed each treacherous night and longed
To see this she for whom I sailed,
My thoughts, my Siren e'er prevailed...

No, nary hath a Siren seen
A being, such as I, unclean,
And yet this temptress's Siren Song
Sings but for me forever long...

I Looked and Found

I've never known another
And suppose I never will.
I've wished one way and the other,
But my kind eludes me still...

I know that I sound crazy,
But I'm simply just unknown.
I'm a lot of things, but lazy's
Not an attribute I've shown...

Nope, I ponder and wander
To make myself known
To myself and others
And here's all it's shown...

My mind's a constant whirlpool;
My thoughts, a constant swirl.
I don't know if I'm some fool
In this contraption of a world...

I know how to be funny,
And I know how to be smart.
I've little care for money,
But know how to play the part...

These things that I've uncovered,
I did so with little thought.
Having no clue I'd discovered
Just what I had always sought...

The most important thing I've found
Is how to work the world.
And though the truth's profound-
I still can't seem to find a girl...

Mindless Mishap

With a wish my mind's candle is lit,
On this rickety gate where my nightingale's lit,
When my mind takes a turn and then splits...

So I flew like an arrow-
Quite hard on a sparrow,
When my wings sputtered sadly, then quit...

I spiraled like bats out of hell,
With no feathers to cover my tale,
Then came within view of the farm,
And soon found me atop our small barn...

Well, I hadn't known quite the right way,
To the edge of the barn I had gone,
When I fell like the light out of day
Into night with no wishes of dawn...
I'm a small sunken lump now,
Yet still I breathe somehow,
This wasn't my day to move on...

Now I wish I had stayed on the gate;
For my mind is more rickety now
Than the gate ever was
This is what my mind does,
Though insane, I remain, still somehow
