Mindless Mishap

With a wish my mind's candle is lit, On this rickety gate where my nightingale's lit, When my mind takes a turn and then splits... So I flew like an arrow- Quite hard on a sparrow, When my wings sputtered sadly, then quit... I spiraled like bats out of hell, With no feathers to cover my tale, Then came within view of the farm, And soon found me atop our small barn... Well, I hadn't known quite the right way, To the edge of the barn I had gone, When I fell like the light out of day Into night with no wishes of dawn... I'm a small sunken lump now, Yet still I breathe somehow, This wasn't my day to move on... Now I wish I had stayed on the gate; For my mind is more rickety now Than the gate ever was This is what my mind does, Though insane, I remain, still somehow
