Biology

Biology, biodiversity, biomass, bio this, bio that. You don't get I want to just throw u in the trash.
Your biogenisis, the binary fissure, a bilateral symmetry, and the bile. Well, it's enough to make one go senile!
B-I-O-L-O-G-Y don't you get that I just sigh? B-I-O-L-O-G-Y Please...don't even try.
Biome, biomolecule, biotics. I'd really rather play on my electronics.
Bipedal, bisphere, it's enough to make one fear... B-I-O-L-O-G-Y Sometimes you make me cry. B-I-O-L-O-G-Y I'm just trying to get by. B-I-O-L-O-G-Y You really should be a crime. B-I-O-L-O-G-Y Oh my....

The Darkest Day

Burning eyes, I cannot believe I'm alive
Smoke fills the air and it makes me so scared
My brain is cloudy and slow, and I see myself upside down on the ground
People are screaming, I hear loud crashing
Everything begins falling
I know I won't make it out alive.
The building is breaking the whole place is shaking
And I get up to run for my life
My hands scraped and bloodied, my skirt, torn.
There's no time to mourn.
My hair is matted and wet, and I crash into a person I had just met
Making my way down the stairs, I think about how this is all unfair.
In that split second there's another BOOM
And impact
Throws me down to my doom.
But a hand grabs me and pulls me up,
I would say something but I can hardly gulp.
I can't see and my savior leads me.
There's a ringing in one ear, but none in my other.
I scream in frustration, and my vision goes under.
Deep darkness overwhelms me.
There is pain in my arms and I just want to leave
Leave this chaos of a world, this place where the smoke curls and whirls.
My body shuts down as I slowly fall on the ground and my life flashes before my eyes.
But it is okay. This is all I can take
And then I hear sirens and people.
I smile at them because I know it is too late.
I close my eyes then. This was the end.
I see the light and I give up the fight.

Island Breeze

I hear and see:
Hot pavement,
Green house,
Boardwalk,
The sound of children's talk
The sun,
watching all the fun
Palm trees
Shifting in the breeze
Blue sky
Green leaves
Bougainvillea trees,
Red and vibrant
That's how you can tell you're on an island

Truth

I'm a high strung girl
From two different worlds
Fiery and passionate
That's my Cuban one
Sassy and mischievous
The Bahamian sun
Guys call me opinionated
But I'm just liberated!
I'm a nice person
Once you get to know me
Few though, ever see me clearly
A "sarcastic jerk" they say
They're lucky that I turn and walk away
"Vengeance is God's"
I mumble
If I were you I'd stumble
I speak my mind
Don't keep it all inside
Sorry if you find
That troubling
The truth hurts
That's what's worst
But you see
Sometimes they respect me
After all, isn't honesty the best policy?
Now mind you it's rare
Not everyone gets my charming flare
But it's the ones that do
That I care for too
And if it's any comfort to you
I think it's quite uncouth
To never tell the truth!

The Old Oak Tree

I want to go outside
I guess I could if i tried...
I never have the guts to do it though
I'm always scared what they would think of me if I go
Outside seems so welcoming
The breeze is practically inviting
How I long to accept its invitation
To sit by the oak tree and just listen
The grass rustling through my fingers
The stillness of the night as I linger
The wind whistles a song
And I know that I will stay out here very long
I fall asleep
Next to the old oak tree
I hear the morning birds sing their song for me
I smile at them and I realize I'm truly happy for the first time
But when I suddenly wake up
I cry
Because it was all a wonderful dream
And I knew it would never happen to me

Picture of Innocence

That one brown tuff of hair sticking up
gray eyes not yet turned
Begging for knowledge not yet learned
The forehead and thick eyebrows are her fathers
As much as her round face and crooked pinky toe is surely her mother's
A double chin that holds any spilled food in
And the rolls on those chubby legs
Funny how genetics are passed from nearest kin
That smile can light up a room
Such beauty in watching a child bloom

*NOTE: For my little niece. Love her to death I had to write something about her. :)

Maine Through Spain

There once was a pretty girl from Maine
That her beauty spread to Spain
She didn't want to marry
Because the man's name was Larry
So the people thought her insane

NOTE: I'm having a ball finding all my old poetry. I wrote this when I was 11! So much fun reading my old things. :D

The Truth About Love

What is love anymore?
Pain, sadness, hurt
I remember the joy of love
It's beautiful
So why is it short lived?
Broken shards of glass on the floor
A memory of what once was
Whole, full, and full of hope
You think you see everything clearly
But it's not until it's broken
Do you see the imperfections
Mistakes, regrets, screams
Can we ever clean
The mess we made?
You can piece a mirror back together
Just like love
But it will never be the same
You see the flaws bigger than before
The perfection you once saw
Gone
Replaced by an empty submission of acceptance
But can it be better?
Or will it only fail again
Shattered pieces falling down
Numb, cracked, china doll
Grasping for what you once had
But it's not there
The fragile pieces remain
Painful truth hits you
Can't fix what's broken
You may never be fully whole
But who is?

Simile

MUSIC

Like the wind flying through the air
As the fire crackles out a beat
Like the waterfall crashing against rocks
like music to my ears

NOTE: I wrote this when I was about 10. Found my old poetry! So happy!

Forever Home

Family stays together
Only till forever
Remember the laughter
Else you forget what matters
View life like its your last
Everything always moves too fast
Rarely do we treasure the

Happiness that enters
One
Moment can be a precious thing
Everlasting
