Grandpa's Last Day

On a beautiful morning one day in May
I went to my grandma and grandpa's to stay
My grandpa fixed breakfast and fed it to me
I felt so secure as I sat on his knee
I ate every bite of my eggs and my grits
For a snack later on we'd have cheese whiz and ritz
Yet on this bright morning when the dishes were done
We went out on the porch and sat down in the sun
Grandpa picked up his paper and on that old porch swing
He went in a flash to meet Jesus the King
Before I got grandma I climbed on his lap
Hugged him and kissed him then my heart felt a gap
Although I was little I felt such a dread
The moment I knew my grandpa was dead
Though I miss him dearly I know where he's gone
He's joyfully worshiping God at His throne
I can't wait to see him I know he is there
Praying for me to be kept in God's care
Soon we will be Amazing Grace
As we all live forever in that glorious place

In Loving Memory of My Grandfather Frank J. Geddings

The Heart of a Servant

God has truly blessed you
With a servant's heart
Trust Him to give you what you need
To finish what you start
Though you may not know it
You've planted many seeds
Because of you some people now
Trust God to meet their needs
Because you have been faithful
God's face will shine on you
And He will give you great success
In everything you do
When Jesus comes to take us home
And He sees all you've done
He's sure to say "Enter in; I'm pleased with you dear one

Alzheimers Prayer

Dear Lord I know you're busy and I hate to bother you
With all the problems in the world you have so much to do
I remember when I was a child being taught about your love
How you died to set me free and left your throne above
Now my body's aging and my mind's starting to go
People say I'm senile and forget things I should know
My family's trying to get me to leave my home and friends
They say they know what's best for me and how this all will end
Lord would you please give them wisdom to discern
The leading of your spirit and patience as they learn
All the changes that will happen at this stage of life
Please let them work together and not end up in strife
As my mind continues to slowly slip away
There will be times I know I won't remember how to pray
No matter how my mind ends up let my spirit be alive
Give my family all the strength they'll need to survive
Grant them Lord your perfect peace and give them all sweet rest
Let them know I'm safe at last as you hold me in your breast - Amen

Remember Who You Are

I am who Jesus says I am I'm the apple of his eye
He watches ore me constantly for his throne on high
He is my rock and shelter one thing I know for sure
When I'm in a raging storm in his arms I am secure
I am an overcomer by the blood of the lamb
The one who gives me victory is the great I AM
He is my shield and buckler and the lifter of my head
He provides my every need and makes sure I am fed
I am his child forever for me he gave his all
He's always listening to me when on his name I call
When the devil comes at me like a raging flood
The Lord always keeps me safe by the power of his blood
Jesus has many ways to prove his word is true
If you start to drift away he will go look for you
All of us are human and we are prone to stray
But God in his great mercy reminds us he's the way
The Lord is always there for you when you want to talk
And he'll pick you up and carry you if you're too tired to walk
So when the devil taunts you next time you're in a jam
Remember who you are in Christ, thus says the great I AM

For Such a Time As This

Lord as we celebrate the freedom of our land
So graciously protected by your great and mighty hand
Would you reach down from above into the depths of me
Release your perfect peace within and set my spirit free
There is a constant battlefield raging in my soul
Please saturate me in your blood and make me fully whole
I know you have great plans for me this is what you said
Please resurrect my buried dreams and raise them from the dead
Your blessings and your promises I don't want to miss
I know you've created me for such a time as this

A Servant's Prayer

When You walked on the earth You saw the needs
Of Your children as they struggled along
But when You looked in their eyes Your compassion and love
Gave them hope and the strength to go on
There are times in my life when I go through so much
And I question Lord why must this be
Then I wait for Your voice and You tenderly say
My child you must trust in Me
Lord if You loved me enough to die
And to rise from the dead again
Create in me a desire to be
Your servant forever - amen
Lord You have shown me in Your own way
How important service must be
When I see someone hurting O Lord let me care
In the same way that You care for me. Amen

Parents' Prayer

Lord several years ago we came to you in prayer
Thanking you for binding us together in your care
You knew how much we wanted a brand new life to love
And so you granted to us this blessing from above
When this child came into our lives we gave him back to you
We promised with your help we'd do all we could do
To raise this child and teach him about your love and grace
And you would always give him your strength to run the race
But along the way he got lost and couldn't find his way
Now we come before you once again today
Humbled in your presence please hear us as we pray
Please once again remind him although he has sinned
You're waiting there with open arms to welcome him back in
And Lord while you're at it would you remind him too
When he came into our lives we gave him back to you
Thank you Lord for hearing us and in your name we pray
Very soon we all will have a great reunion day - Amen

A Minister's Wife

The effectiveness of a minister
As to how he copes with life
Depends a great deal upon
His wonderful supporting wife
You're always there beside him
When trouble comes his way
You bring him so much comfort
By the things you do and say
You're not just there in sadness
You're there in joy and pride
No matter what God sends his way
You're always by his side
You have a very special gift
For showing so much care
And though you may not show it
You've got a lot to bear
It takes a special person
To do the things you do
God doesn't just use men you know
He uses their wives too

From the Heart of a Deaf Child

What a welcome I received when I arrived on earth
People all around the world were excited by my birth
After nine long months of growing the day finally came
For me to make my entrance and receive a brand new name
Everyone was happy their hearts were filled with cheer
Until the doctor told them that I couldn't hear
All the joy I had seen when I came into the light
Was now interrupted by faces filled with fright
My parents could not hold back tears
But I could clearly see
They didn't care that I was deaf
I knew they wanted me
They knew that God had special plans
To use me like I am
Whether I can hear or not I'm still His little lamb
As I grow up in the world as hard as it may be
I know the Lord is on my side and He will help me see
That I'm a special masterpiece created out of love
Sent to earth to fulfill the plans of God above
Even though I can't hear I'm as special as can be
And with God's help I'll do my best to make you proud of me
