The Shot Heard 'Round the World

Standing that morning at that Lexington field
Not knowing what drama the day would yet yield

When off to my right rang the shot of a gun
I knew that this dreaded war had just begun

No one knowing who had shot first
This day would go down in history as being one of the worst

Stumbling my way threw the gray smoky haze
Everyone looking like their in a daze

Brothers and friends lying dead on the ground
And i know that bloodier days are still yet bound

From demanding England, America has just tore
For that first shot has just begun the Revolutionary War

Will You Be the One To Cast the First Stone?

Everyone says no
It is not to be so
Down that road you are not to go
For it will only be paved with pain and woe

Everyone seeming to know what's best
Rantings and ravings leaving no time for rest
Patience and respect being put to the test
Indifference and lack of trust lead to a life with no zest

A life once ruled by arrogance and pride
In him is now hope and does the saviour abide
A rumor falsely started can make you want to hide
And lead you to think twice about in whom you can confide

No life is not writtled with regrets from the past
And yet the first stone people are all to willing to cast
A sinless life can no human make last
Like a ship in a storm with a broken mast

If Jesus is Lord and in your heart does he live
Why do people find it so hard to forgive
For the Son of God came to earth and did live
And for ALL of mankind his life he was willing to give

If to him you have given all of your heart
And your old life you are willing to depart
He will lift you up and set you apart
And give unto you a new start

I wrote this for a friend of mine that i grew up with. He moved away for a few years, and
lived a rather trouble filled life in that time. Recently, he has come back and has asked Jesus
to be his Saviour and Lord of his life. He is a changed man, however people still refuse to see
him for the man he is now rather than the person he was before. I understand that sin not
only leaves you with scares but also on those around you, and sometimes it is hard to
forgive and forget; However, that is what we as christians should do. We are to not hold
somebodys past above their head and begrudge a person the forgiveness that they so
desperately wish for. We need to leave judgement in the hands of the True Judge.

Just Being Me

Woe is my soul
For it doth have a whole

Where nurture and love should have filled its stead
Is now anguish, hurt, bitterness, and dread

To be loved with no restrictions, unfurbished, and pure
Held in the embrace of the one who loves me, so safe and secure

A place of serenity, peace, and sweet rest
Where i can bask in the arms of the one who loves me best

A greater love can no where be found
And in him does sincerity and affection abound

I know that Jesus loves me and that he is all i need
That he died for my sins and my heart he has freed

But for once on this earth i wonder what it would be
To have someone love me for just being me!

Family Reunion

Uncles and Aunts standing all around
So many I love yous, I feel i could drown

I take one step forward, I take two steps back
Im bombarded by people who just want to yack

Cheeks that are aflame from the pinching they've endured
From elderly relatives saying how much ive matured

From Rowdy young boys playing ball in the fields
To old ball capped men conversing on this years crop yield

Grandkids lining up and sitting side by side
Bubbling with exitement to go on a tractor ride

From corn on the cob to down home fried chicken
No where else could you find such good pickens

As we gather together and in thankful union we pray
I know that i will always remember these family reunions as special days

What Do You Feel

A feeling so strong it can not be suppressed
A weight so heavy, it feels like an anvil on my chest

A love so great, I wonder how it can be
A burden i gladly carry for the sake of my country

A loyalty so tightly woven into every fiber of my being
I wonder how others can not testify to these same feelings

A heart that hears every cry, feels every pain
and takes immense pride in America's smallest piece of grain

In a country who's people will not remain true
I wonder why they find it O so hard to do

To truly love this blessed land in which you were born
T' would cause great pain if you were to leave and your heart should be torn

Of all my feelings not one is greater than this great sense of Patriotism for the land of
the free
For then only one word could ever describe me

....TRAITOR!

Do You See??

Walking by a trickling brook
I wonder why no one stops and looks

For if they were to stop and see
Such an awesome wonder would surely bring them to their knees

A masterpeice so beautiful and vast
Comprehension aludes me as to why people just walk past

Listening to the trees as they creak and they sway
Dancing in the light of the sun's golden rays

No better picture could ever be painted;
Nor song be orchestrated!

Fall

Fields of golden cornstalks swaying in the breeze
Leaves of changing colors rustling in the trees

Rows of yellow tobacco smelling so good to me
A place of so much beauty is where i long to be

Seas of endless prairies all throughout the nation
Are where the lowly sparrow engages in friendly conversation

Patches of bright orange pumpkins with peels so smooth they glisten
A time so short you could miss it if you dont take the time to listen

Rays of setting sunlight transcending into the west
Wagons of Bountiful harvest is what the fall provides for us best
