Farewell

For the past five months I’ve been trying to cope,
To deal with the loss of joy, of hope.
Now everything seems so dull and so fake,
And looking at you just makes my heart ache.

I’ve lost my best friend, the one I loved,
First nudged away, now pushed, now shoved.
I shared all my secrets, I bore my heart,
And now they’re what you used to tear us apart.

You were my queen, I gave you the crown.
My love burned too hot and burned us both down.
Now look where we are, worlds apart,
Forced away by a broken heart.

I tried my best to keep us together,
But now that we part, I’m more broken than ever.
I wish you well in all that may come,
And yet, for trusting you, I feel so dumb.

Maybe

Maybe nobody really cares.
Maybe I should never dare
To trust a human with my secrets
That I’m not ready to share.

Maybe I should just give up,
Just smile and wave and just say ‘yup’.
Maybe they'll always let me down.
Maybe they’d just watch me drown.

Maybe I’m just being dark,
Maybe I should just leave it alone.
Maybe I should cool off in a park,
Or maybe they’ll be the ones to shatter my bones.

Maybe, just maybe, I’m paranoid,
Or maybe there’s some truth to this noise.
Maybe I’m being overdramatic,
Or maybe I have it down to a schematic.

Voices

The voices that I hear
That relish all my tears
They echo in my head,
Make me wish I was dead.

They make my head pound
When there’s nobody around.
I’m going insane,
And all my attempts are in vain.

I’ve become psychotic
And my life is chaotic.
They’re ruining all my dreams,
And they’ve broken through the seams.

They beat me down, those awful voices,
Destroying me with their dreadful noises.
Thousands and thousands crashing in waves
Haunting me until I’m in my grave.

Oceans

Your hair ripples like the waves
The calm before the storm, before everything caves.
Your eyes, the likeness of constellations
That brighten my life, and those of all the nations.

Your laugh is gentle like the rain rippling on the surface of the ocean
Your graceful face shatters any notion
That nothing can exist as pure
And still endure

The test of time
Throughout the years
Through the crashing waves
And floods of tears

You flood me with joy.
You calm the storm inside me,
And I’ll never drown
Because you’ll always be beside me.

The Heart of a Child

The heart of a child
Is gentle and kind
But life takes a toll
On their mind

I’ve lived through it
Been beaten down by it
And now I struggle to get back on my feet
As everyone watches on the edge of their seat.

Popcorn in hand,
With candies of their favourite brand.
With some weird person eating coleslaw,
They watch in awe.

They’re an outlet to a void that they can’t fill,
And all they can think about is how they’ll pay the bills.
They inflict pain that they can’t take away,
And then tell me all I need to do is pray.

Claustrophobia

The walls are closing in.
No matter what I say, I never win.
My life’s crumbling in my hands
Like it’s a stray rock, and I can’t see where it lands.

Everything’s falling apart before my eyes,
And only pain will arise
From the deep gash in my heart
That’s been there from the start.

I’ve lost control of everything,
And I’ve found myself envying
The freedom of my past
Away from the shadow that’s been cast.

Nobody can see
That the odds are stacked against me
If I try to stand, I’ll just fall
And it’s overwhelming, the weight of it all.

So I jot my feelings down in ink.
Otherwise I might be on the brink
Of giving up and giving in.
It’s not like I will ever win.

They Know Nothing

I’ve done what they’ve told me,
And no matter how much they scold me,
Nothing helps anymore.
Life just feels like a chore

It’s exhausting
Just existing is costing
Me everything that I ever had.
And they just say, ‘It’s not that bad.’

They neglect it, as if it was never there,
And honestly, I can’t even bear
To deal with them anymore,
And the pain is seeping into my core.

Where I can’t do anything about it,
And I’m really starting to doubt that
They know anything about what I’m going through
But I’ll do what they tell me to.

Neglect

As the sun rises on this earth,
The same sun sets on my sense of self-worth.
I’m lost in the beauty that I’ve found
In being alone with nobody around.

A new day is born unto us,
And I’m left to rot and collect dust.
Forgotten by all, loved by none,
Never the one to have any fun.

Neglected by beloved,
Love scarce, but highly coveted.
I can’t go on like this for much longer,
And they’ve made it clear that they’re stronger.

I’m weak in every sense of the word,
I’ve been kicked out of my own herd.
There’s nobody to talk to, nobody who’ll listen,
So I just lie there as the tears glisten.

My Memories of the Past

I’m an outsider looking in,
No matter how hard I try, I never win.
I’m separated from everyone by a pane of glass,
My best memories are my memories of the past

When I could speak without a shield,
And I could laugh my problems away in the rolling field.
Now it’s all so complicated,
And every day I’m feeling baited

By my memories of the past
That will always last
Everything’s been taken from under my nose,
And now, all I can do is pose.

Smiling for the camera with my fake smile,
Dying inside all the while.
I’m stuck in the past, my heart won’t budge,
And I have nothing to give me a nudge

To stay in the present,
Where there’s nothing for me,
So if you want to find me,
The past’s where I’ll be.

Yours

Yours is the smile that lights up my world,
Yours is the smile that shines like white pearls.
Yours is the smile that calls on the angels,
Yours is the smile that parts a wave of strangers.

Yours is the smile that eases all pain,
Yours is the smile that hides me from rain.
Yours is the smile beautiful as sunset,
Yours is the smile that I can’t forget.

Yours is the smile that sweetens my tea,
Yours is the smile that fills me with glee.
Yours is the smile that brightens the dark ages,
And now I spill my love onto pages.

Yours are the eyes that hold all the love,
Yours are the eyes that come from above.
You, my love, are truly divine,
You are the reason the stars align.
