GIANTVILLISM AND CITY OF THE BEAN PEOPLE PART 1

INTRO
A wonderful world it is contemplated Jake as he planted his seed to grow his beanstalk. He knew that this beanstalk would nourish many so he watched it grow. One day he awoke and the beanstalk was clearing the sky and he decided to climb it. Singing merrily to himself: “Oh, what wonderful day to play with your evolution. I planted this stalk of beans and it's growing beyond my conception. So I shall climb it to discover has it evolved another wonderful world beyond .” Jake was foremost a positive thinker. He began to climb singing "evolution conception a world beyond - evolution conceives a world beyond."
DAY ONE OF JAKE’S ADVENTURE
Jake climbed the beanstalk that day. He discovered that there was life formed beyond but he was afraid to adventure further and promised himself that he would build the courage to go the step afar. He knew that he had to be well prepared for his adventure, so on his descent down the stalk he began to develop his plan for his journey to continue. As always, Jake began to sing: “ Mmmm… The adventure I am about to partake could be quite dangerous; however, I must completely discover that place. I know that it may be my very last visit – the next – but I am going back to conquer it and that’s that .” Jake begins to instill belief in self.
Jack’s Next Adventure
As Jack planned he would make two weapons and use them if needed. He would take some food with him for his sustenance and a change of clothes for his comfort. He must travel lightly. He cannot be overloaded. This was an adventure to discover the beyond and then return home. He would set some landmarks as he journey within this other world to ensure that he could return to his beanstalk, therefore, assuring his returning home and thus, hopefully safely. Day ten, after the discovery of this world beyond, Jake began to climb his beanstalk once again. Now know that this City that Jack was from had many beanstalks. Did Jack think he was only one with this discovery? Everyone had to plant their own individual beanstalk. Was Jack’s the only one with a world beyond or did he share this with others? Secrets were known to be kept in City of the Bean People forever. Well, now Jack had arrived into this other world beyond via his beanstalk. It was a flora place and no one was stirring about. He walked and walked and walked until he came to a cellulosic world. Amidst these cell walls of plants and algae was a cave-like house. He heard loud snoring. He felt to see had he lost his weapons. He had not. Jake entered the house. At first he saw feet then legs. These legs were very long but finally he arrived at the knee caps about 6 minutes later. He knew then that this was a big, big person. He became afraid, but he tiptoed on. He discovered the Giant. He was not about to wake him. Jake decided it was time to end this adventure for now and return home. It took Jack about 1 day to complete his journey home. Nevertheless, he knew he would be back to meet this big person. He had to so that he could discover this world beyond forever. Meaning, he desired the world beyond to be part of his constructed life; therefore, he knew he would fulfill his desire.
JOURNEY TO MEET BIG PERSON
Jake did not remove his landmarks on his journey home from his last adventure that took him into the world beyond. He would travel via these landmarks so that he knew how to get back to the Giant’s home. Two weeks later Jake went on his third adventure. His plan was to meet this Big Person and become friends with him if this was possible. He knew his life could be endangered because he was a small man, but he had to find out if this Giant could be his friend. So Jake went on his merriment way singing: “ This will be quite an adventure. The third trip to what I will call Giantvillism. It’s quite a beautiful place to me, as I see life forming and then there’s this Big Person. Giant he will be call, quite scary after all; however, very much worth the adventure and a connection to his world .” Jake stopped singing and walked quietly, continuing on his journey, as he completed climbing his beanstalk. As Jake continued on his journey to Giant’s home, he constantly discovered new knowledge about Giantvillism. Everything was cellulosic. But he notices that some of these cellulosic things may be able to take human life form. However, it seemed that they needed triggering. An evolutionary world he had discovered with biological means and after he met Giant and if they became friends, he would find this world’s trigger point because it was necessary and should be develop and this is the premise he would live by and also influence Giant to do the same through his instruction, if needed. Hopefully, Giant may know how to do this himself but needed a motivator. Jake knew well that he was that and more. Jake perceived himself as quite powerful. Halfway to Giant’s home Jake felt aspiration and became aspirated and as usually, began to sing while breathing out. He continued his singing merrily and almost ran into Giant who was outside his home. Jake found himself no more than twenty feet away from Giant when he saw his legs in a standing position. Jake did a double-take and hid behind an object he did not have a name for but if he described it, it would be to him a big fossil plant or maybe an artifact of this world. Giant began to move and it seems as if he was humming. However, Jake decided he was singing in his native language, which words sounded like those of a hummingbird. Jake needed a plan of approach and while he was thinking, he fell asleep behind the big fossil plant.

GIANTVILLISM AND CITY OF THE BEAN PEOPLE PART 4

Religious gatherings happen on Thursday as well in Bean’s Cathedral. The Scribes would read from The Doctrine of Crop and Harvest and the Bean people who attended would be blessed for a greater existence in which this would prepare them to covenant in Bean Town on Thursday night. Their partying was very diverse. They did not drink liquor but had many things to drink and a lot of food to eat. Those that did not attend would be attending to last minute business in which the Scribes understood and blessed them with The Smoke of Missing Hope during Bean’s Cathedral Religious Gathering. Once this was done all was well in City of the Bean People and Bean Town tinkled.

Jake’s Return to Giantvillism
Now Jake was quite ready to return to Giantvillism, however, he wanted to be prepared for whatever. So on the day of his departure, which was three months from the last; he gathered has weapons and added a flask of merriment. This he would give to Giant as a gift. As always, Jake begin to sing: “ I am going to give Giant a gift. A flask of merriment and he will enjoy this. Therefore, I’m on my way to Giantvillism and maybe Giant and I will travel beyond into his cellulosic world !” Jake began to climb his beanstalk, which took three hours to the top. Once he finally made it to solid ground, Jake began to walk. He knew his way well now because of the eleven times he had visit Giant and this was the twelfth. Jake felt at ease and please with being here in which he knew that Giant awaited his return and that Giant knew he was coming [this day]. As Jake travel on to Giant’s cave, he discovered that some of the cellulosic life forms had evolved. He saw a little man building a house and stop to converse, however, the little man, did not seem to hear a word spoken so Jake tapped him on the shoulder and both the little man and the house he was constructing vanished. Jake walked on until he came upon a woman with four children and she spoke to Jake. “Hello, Jake! So, you return today.” Jake was overwhelmed. She knew his name, but he did not know hers. Jake responded: “What is your name my lady? I do not know yours, however, you do know mine.” “My name is Melody. I am a gypsy. Therefore, I know things that Bean People do not.” Jake became fascinated and asked: “How do you know that I am a Bean person?” Melody answered and said: “Well gypsies have insight into others’ lives or life lines and Jake with you, it is your height, which is the factor. I must go now with my four and maybe I will see you again to tell you some more.” Jake smiled and bid her farewell and not a goodbye. “About five miles”, Jake thought “and I will be at Giant’s house.” Humming and then he begin to sing because he knew this would make time leave much sooner. This is the melody Jake song. “,My life is that of an ordinary man. I stand 5”6” and have such small hands. But if I need to be as big as I can be, I have another half of pint in me. My wife truly loves me and soon, yes I do believe, she be traveling with me to Gianvillism and we will make love in this cellulosic world as we did in Bean Town as teenagers. Oh, her name is Nefa!” Finally, arriving at Giant’s cave house; however, Giant was not at home in which Jake knew he would wait because he was there to stay for at least five days, which his wife Nefa knew he would be gone for that long but no longer than fourteen days or two weeks. Jake fell asleep and was awakened by Giant’s return home. Giant knew he was there and came into his home with a loud bellow: “Hello Jake, glad of your return. I have a pleasant surprise for you. Some of the cellulosic life forms have evolved in Giantvillism and with me is my cousin Maddy.” Jake jumped from his mat and states: “I discovered this on my journey to see you, Giant. First, I met a little man building a house. I tried to talk to him, but he did not hear me and when I touched him on his shoulder he and his house disappeared. Next, I met a gypsy named Melody who knew me immediately by name and by my people. However, I knew nothing about her. We talked and then she had to leave. So, Giant I am not that surprised but I would like to know why do you call Maddy your cousin?” Giant responded: “Well, Jake you see I am from a cellulosic life form as well and Maddy evolved the same way I did. Being from a cellulosic life form one do not evolve as brothers or sisters; only cousins. Therefore, our family history in Giantvillism is based on the foundation of how we evolve. Maddy is the second of my evolutionary life form.” Giant, Maddy, and Jake begin to get to know each other. It seems that all the difficulty Jake was afraid of in getting to know Giant three months ago had been banished when the cellulosic life form evolved while Jake was away. Jake was learning about Giant’s life through him telling Maddy about what it meant to be from the cell of the Big People. It seems that this cell came in many heights because Maddy was not a giant. He was about 6”1”. Jake would say that women would think he was considerably handsome. Giant also said that The Cell of the Big People would evolve many more cousins within the next five years as adults in order for them to procreate and start families. Jake then spoke and told both that this is what happen in his world as well. Giant went on to say that many more life forms were in Giantvillism and their cells had the same capabilities and authorities. With all said, Jake thought: “Hmmm, every world becomes different but then they are all quite the same.”

2 humans 2 hearts And 1 love

Once there was a girl with a tough personality. She was considered to be a friendly and talkative. She was extremely tough regardless of love and crashes. She had wishes and dreams but was never sure when it’s gone come true. She was hard working always to satisfy her family and be a great daughter. She was tough about love but at the same time she knew a special and incomparable person will come to her life, who will be very different than others. When and where she will meet him, she never thought about it because she believed that we shouldn’t look for love, the reason was that love comes itself. However let’s see how and where she finds that special person.
One night after working so hard of her project she was bored.
“Oh God I am so bored let’s see if my friends are online I will talk to them but at the same time gone download a song” she got online but unfortunately non of her friends were online so she thought to herself why don’t I make a new friend she requested a random boy who she never knew before. After a week passed and that boy accepted her request but they never got the chance to talk to each other.
“Oh this boy looks so cute but why can’t I talk to him” although she wasn’t trusting any boys but her heart would tell her that this boy seems to be a good boy. So she used to leave an offline massages for him in order to contact each other and be friends. One day they both were online so their conversation started.
Boy…Hi
Girl…Hi
Boy… how are u and how did u added me
Girl… I’m fine thanks well I was bored last week so I randomly added u.
They started questioning each other and she asked him have you got a brother or a sister he answered I have 5 sister but no bro. She reply but I have 2 sis and no brother. The time of Salah came and she had to pray and she asked if she can leave the conversation and pray but he was surprised that she prays. After she did her prayers she asked him why were you surprised when I said its time for me to pray? He reply afghans who live in foreigner most of them are not religious.
Weeks passed and one day she was so excited.
Girl… You know what
Boy…what
Girl… I have a new baby sister
Boy… congratulations
They kept contacting each other even though he had exams on that time but he would still take out some time for her. At the same time he would study for exams.

Few month later they became best friends and one day he told her that he like her but she didn’t understand what does he mean by like. She called her best friend and told her he told her that he likes her but she doesn’t know why he said this because he loves her or just a simple like.
Hey dude … he told me he likes me but I don’t know what he means by that.
My Friend… ha ha stupid liking is the first step of love I think he loves u.
She also liked him but she needed time to know him more. He was so innocent and respectful boy she had ever meet. They became so closer and their friendship turned to love after a passing of time. She didn’t know much about his family and background but however she loved him and thought he is a right person for her life partner.
For every relationship to became stronger and trust worthy it needs time. Relationships are like building a house. Some relationship ends fast because it was build quick and the foundation was not strong enough but some relationships last forever the reason is that the foundation which that relationship was build was strong. The foundation of every relationship is trust, promises, honesty, truthfulness, modesty, respect and most important thing is a true love. Be the kind of person you would like to be with. Some people come into our lives, make footprints on our hearts and we are never the same. People are lonely because they build walls instead of bridges.
She always wanted someone who is respectful and modest towards girls. Someone who is honest but she never saw any boy with those qualities in him, she only saw those qualities in him. Even though she faced so much hardships, impenetrability and tests in life however she knew that when Allah tests you, it is never to destroy you, it’s to teach us something in life that we do not know. When he removes something in your possession it is only to empty your hands, for an even greater gift. She learned so much from those test and tried hard to become better Muslim.
Now they know each other and they love each other a lot. She has a full trust on him more than herself. Even though they sometimes have argument for some Issues but their love is strong enough and they are a smart people to find the solutions. No matter what we face and how we act towards it but it shouldn’t affect a person’s trust and love in relationship because it’s so hard to make one and takes a second to destroy it. This was a good story. It’s sad that it takes a long time for people to understand values and life. We as people are so consumed with our own lifestyles and duties we have made for ourselves.
I miss him more then he could ever know, I often ask Allah why did he have to go? I fell in love and he means so much to me, if he could look into my heart then he could see. I found something so special and it is for real, being without my love is so hard to deal. I'll be here waiting until I can be with you again, because not only are you the love of my life you are also my friend.
I just want to tell you,
I think of you every moment of the day.
And how much I love you,
Words could never even say....

I just want to tell you,
I love you with all my heart.
I wish for us to be together,
Never shall we be apart.

JOURNEY COMPANIONS: THE FRIEND SONNETS PART II

HEROES

Near somber guards, units of children heap
dead leaves, naive to any else fallen.
Friend, you chuckle, but your posture speaks
of duty on this day of contradictions.

Firefighters bow heads in silent paean,
while polished trucks stand at attention.
Families have again answered the call
to attend this festival, so uncommon.

Here, laughter rings around the memorial
for exuberance must never be doused,
Gloriously wrought, a sculpture of angels
commiserates with each mourning house.

You say, I see valor in lives that inspire.
I see heroes and their lines of fire.

*For Craig

NEW DALI

Surreal, the way a contortionist knots
himself as the escape artist breaks free.
Uptown, buskers beckon with what-naughts,
drawing thousands. Candyland, sighs New-Dali

at its epicenter, his true element,
and he takes it in: the sword swallower,
blindfolds, jugglers, clowns miming laments,
fire-fed gals, stilted-men and tots taller

on shoulders. This carnival can endear,
turn heads, but only one with a seer-heart
studies the music box dancer, then swears
that she spins perfect webs with street-smarts.

Mirroring that swivel, awed by his entourage,
He becomes centrum to his own collage.

*For Chan, fully alive in Heaven.

SNIPPETS

Your brows are up. The Princess Cinema
is not your choice. C'mon, I don't fit here,
you snort. You, with all your charisma
and kindness, stand in a short line, fearing

boredom or worse ... pretense. Promise me,
that we aren't about to wallow through
subtitles, you sigh. Give me clarity,
a story, something that I can relate to.

But the charm catches you by surprise,
a star-struck atmosphere, the seats are new
and the popcorn is still warm. Friendly eyes
laugh, then amusement streams from you

for these Global TV spots simply delight
like each snippet that you joyfully write.

*For Andrea

TARTANS

There be Scots as farrrrrr as the eye can see.
Brawn calves and bright kilts delight lasses
while pipers swagger out of the pub, tipsy.
Your smile broadens as a caber is tossed

end over end. Then, across the glen, highland
dancers in ghillies beckon with hearty flings.
Auch, it’s hot yet heather dare no’ wilt. Clans
gather, roguishly rib each other, as wool spins

in wheels. Aye, the romance can fair overwhelm
e’en the sensible. Worse for we, the fanciful.
Come, here’s the tea tent. Let soft fiddles calm
as we nibble oatcakes. Tartans and tunes pull

heartstrings. We sit raptly, lost in Brigadoon,
put pen to napkin to let wee thistles bloom.

* For Francine

TESTIMONIALS

Rustling maples break vows of silence,
naturally. As pleased, spears of hyacinth
worship breezes with such soft reverence
that we give pause in this living labyrinth.

Nothing here is still; wood thrush reverb
good news and cicadas buzz testimonials.
Nearby, a creek mumbles, Word-Word
while squirrels glorify their bounty. All

is abuzz with joy, save for the shade
under a weathered cross; it’s emptiness
resurrects veneration. A butterfly wades
the sudden hush, lands on your hand, nests.

My friend, you lift it to wood, sympathizing
on bent knee, speechlessly evangelizing.

*For Brian

ON THE FRINGE

Your eyes drink the hues of the Shisha Lounge:
art on walls, art brewing over charcoal.
This coffee ceremony is on the fringe,
far from the pallid and staid. I’ve marveled

at these dear blends, how culture can transcend
barriers and ignorance. We order too much.
Tibsy, zignie, timtimo.. injera bends
to each spiced delicacy as our plates touch.

Gone is this haven where pleasure was shared.
Still, I’ll bring you there. Scribe, man of integrity,
sit with me. Exhale poetry. Imbibe tribal air.
Mine, this moment and mine, this memory

but that mystifying brew, that receptive floor,
the smoke refined by deep respect… each are yours.

*For my cuz, Scribe

SUMMERLAND

A warbling vireo hops from oak to elm.
Your gaze wanders, too. This amphitheater
hosts the lyrical, almost overwhelms,
for beyond the mill ruins, the Grand River

is deep in thought, reflecting. It’s as though myth
lives; Summerland has come to the hillside
where weathered fieldstones beguile the impish
to dance. They do or else tin flutes will chide.

Though cozy the spot, the world's at our feet.
Tanned toes can not help but tap. Strong is the lure
of pipes and those songs that dulcimers keep.
When night softly falls, one group brings rapture.

They sing until stars tire and all are hoarse
like poets rousing words to supplicate verse.

*For Carrie

WORD ON THE STREET, 2009

Pure pageantry, how publishers' banners
wave over tents. Flocks of readers graze
on glossy trades, leaflets, hardcovers,
chapbooks. My friend, a true gent, stays
his ground. Maybe, it is the press of page;
Its forthright weave petitions for slants,
favors unique fonts, yet gilds no edge,
sees no need for illustration, just verdant
language. I did not intend to read
over his shoulder. He grins good-naturedly,
tweed makes an allowance. Each line, poetry,
he praises and I still my chatter. We feed
on gems, unrushed, but their brilliance spurs
a verbose woman and a man of his word.

Differences you say

Differences – you say !

I – me Lass – brave Helios, rides his golden chariot,
drawn by fiery Steeds, into the vastness of this universe.

These mighty Titans, dispatched – brilliant, glowing -
ruled, controlled the blueness of this planet, the heavens.

Our bright Sun, sprinkles life giving particles, waves,
out in all directions – into the endless firmament.

Then there is the cold souled, silver shield that traverses
that moth eaten, dark cloth, that hangs like lead
in that dead laden space, blackness the place
you choose to ride – your life to hide.

Oh !, if only we would climb down from the edge of fences.
Oh !, if only we would leave behind, walk away from defences.
Oh !, for us to, but if we only could, reach our dreams
Oh !, for us to, not have all those things, it seems,

that get in the way – life’s experiences, what it means,
from time to time, - that should be left behind – long ago,
that hang on so tightly, from fears that you won’t let go.
Oh !, for us two, to find the door, to see, understand, to know.

Oh !, for us to, for us to realize, that after the end, the winds will blow
it all away, into waves of rainbow colours that will show
it all to have been a necessary, but unnecessary way to go.
No matter what is said and done, it all is the universes flow.

A straight line, towards your destination, is the obvious choice.
Unfortunately, a jumble of thoughts, experiences, become the voice.

A trip – full of baggage – and around the world we go.
A carrousel ride, on each and every horse, the story doth show

A very dizzying ride it is, the point, to get to know
is a journey, of many directions, on winds that blow

Live and let live the life one so chooses.
Seldom is it necessary if one wins or one loses,
not much concerned for – or where or why.
For in the end, it is all in the beholders eye.

Much too much involved !, much to obsessive,
with others and the lives they made a mess – ive.
I can only wonder ?, make an educated guess, live
with my analysis and know, from the heart you give.

I cannot carry the weight of your life into today,
for all that was, all that is, need not words to say,
for nothing will change, not before, nor after, it’s your way,
no matter what one chooses, or not, to express, it’s the game you play.

All has come into, become a part of, is constantly shared
with, and no matter how it affects, it’s no longer cared
for, for it all distracts, disrupts, disturbs the air
that we are inhabiting - and not – it is unfair

I know that it is part and parcel of the lady fair.
If only to the point, but you never seem to get there.
Hours and hours go by, I cannot help but cry
as I listen and listen, understand, I do try.

Actions, activities, motion, play are the order of the day,
board games to win, games to lose, but they cannot be had,
for it is not in the cards – alone – one can have a say,
only but for two, does it come though, to share and that’s not bad.

Vocalizing, expressing, gossiping, complaining are your way.
Hours to exercise the body, the soul, the mind, it is so sad,
for it leaves so little to share, so little time for making hay.
Not such a bad way to connect, what a great fad !

Just some of the differences that have come to be
what is between you and me, yet there is much more to see
that could come into you and me as we ride this rough sea
of life, that at times you find joy in this old boy, so free.

Happy am I when you come near, when you are here.
A little hollow, a little empty, in the end, harbour fear
that the sunshine will fade, be covered, will disappear.
Which way ?, - our ships passing in the night - will we steer.

A Mole

Will the Mole, leave her underground, black hole ?,
to – with eagles fly – reach out and touch the sky ?
will this night hawk, this owl, venture into day light,
play in sight of shadows, created by a sun so bright
and warm, where day creatures know the storm
that rages throughout and within, who shout
with voices searing, with knowledge clearing,
with understanding of choices made by rending,
choices made for, and by them, behind a closed door.
Living a life that has been over flowing with strife.
There is much to know, about what was laid upon her soul.
Some can, some cannot let go, why ?, I do not know.

Can the bound, the nocturnal, the frightened ?,
find freedom, find in the diurnal, find in fearlessness,
a soul mate to travel with, upon day light roads, opened.
A soul mate to take into the darkness, the coldness.
Can they be blended, one into the other, if the story be told.

Differences – are they few or are there so many ?
Are we able to live with them ?, or without any ?
There we are – two old birds on the wing,
with different voices, different songs to sing
of any or all, to the table, want to bring.
Shed light, and let show, what is our thing
which at times has put us into the ring.
Sparing in defence of our particular notions,
beliefs, as we express – in animated motions,
a light, who we truly are in the heat of the moment.
Yet the hurt, the pain created by wards, was not meant.
Yet they have lent a truth, some truth was sent
out from the heart, the soul, life ancient
that dictates - in the moment – what’s fates sentiment.

And what are the differences you see ?
What are they ?, what is between you and me ?

SUMMER, WINTER SOLSTICE - 2010

It was a visit long overdue by most people’s standards. I had last seen my daughter two years prior to that during a whirlwind trip which she and her fiancé had made to Cape Town. I had an unexpected financial windfall and the money was burning a hole in my pocket. On the spur of the moment, I called my daughter and asked her to source accommodation for me in London over the Christmas season. A few days later, she called me back with the news that all the hotels had been booked up, save for the Ritz. I chuckled at the idea of having to spend my entire holiday budget on just one night at the Ritz. Then reason asserted itself and we put our heads together to come up with an alternative solution. I could hear her flatmate in the background, chipping in with her penny’s worth of advice. My daughter hung up and I was feeling down in the mouth about the plans for the trip being derailed in such a fashion. Later that evening, my daughter called back with the offer that if I did not object to sleeping on the settee in the lounge, I would be most welcome to stay with them at their London flat. I gladly accepted. She is a chef at a top restaurant and I was looking forward to gourmet meals prepared by her - including the Christmas turkey.

The evening of the booked flight to London, arrived. It was an uncomfortable hot day and I showered and dressed with only minutes to spare before my friend took me to the airport to book in the statuary two hours before international flight departures. At the airport everything was in chaos. We were given the unwelcome news that our flight had been cancelled. This was the third direct flight to London which had been cancelled that week due to London experiencing the worst weather and snow since records began in 1890! We were offered alternative flights and had to stand in queues for hours in order to procure a new airline ticket. Some people became very verbose and insisted on being granted passage on other airline carriers (at the cost of our local airline carrier). I do not know whether it was due to the weather or the disappointment I was feeling, but when my turn came at last to book a new flight, I readily agreed to fly on Christmas Eve ( three days hence) to London. If I had been given time to reflect on this date, I would not have accepted it. Arriving in London on Christmas Day would have been disastrous: The tubes and other public transport would have been curtailed on Christmas Day and shops and other amenities would have been closed for the day. This I knew from previous trips to the UK over the festive season. To add insult to injury, taxis would have charged triple for cab fare and no amount of quibbling would have swayed them. I phoned my friend to collect me and when we got home, I poured a large glass of Merlot and retired on the sun lounger in the garden. It was *full moon that evening and it was almost worth missing the trip to witness its beauty. I left my bags in the hallway and retired early – after phoning my daughter and giving her an update on the status quo.
moths dart between moon flowers - lunar eclipse
Six am the following morning, I was woken up by the phone ringing. Sleepily I took the call. It was the airline inquiring whether I could get to the airport by seven am. My friend was dancing up and down in agitation and already had the car out by the time I had brushed my teeth. I offered to pay any speeding fines which she might incur during our mad dash to get to the airport on time. The flight was an additional service which was laid on to get the backlog of passengers to their desired destinations. Heathrow had given our pilots permission to proceed, hence the call to me that morning. We were a total of thirty six passengers on the Boeing 747 – it translated to two passengers per crew member. We were treated to five in flight movies which were current and could eat and drink as much as we wished to. By the time we landed in London at seven pm that evening, there was a festive spirit among us. A radio taxi (which my daughter had organised) was waiting to collect me at Heathrow airport. It was a chilly four degrees Celsius below zero and I was grateful for my leather coat and wool accessories.

**************************************************************** *The December 2010 lunar eclipse occurred from 5:27 to 11:06 UTC on December 21, coinciding with the date of the December solstice. It was visible in its entirety as a total lunar eclipse in North and South America, Iceland, Ireland, Britain and northern Scandinavia. "bitter" means piercingly cold..... A term commonly used by Britishers... "flat" means apartment. The Londoners I know, refer to it as just "flat" with no adj or possessive noun or article. Please see the About section for explanations regarding the 1ST AND LAST haiku. Haibun(literally, haikai writings) is a prosi-metric literary form originating in Japan, combining prose and haiku. The range of haibun is broad and includes the autobiography, diary, essay, prose poem, short story and travel journal. ~ Wikipedia

FRIENDS

THE FRIENDS

They were the best of friends to the best of friendship
They did everything together to the best of friendship
The three wise men that came together from different locations
One from the north, one from the west, the other from the east
These three friends has three different lands in different locations
Trees with different fruits filled their lands; it is a feast
The three friends visited each others farmland anytime they wish
Everything was perfect; there was never any cause to quarrel
The friendship was intact as palm fruit to the hand of a squirrel
So close they live close; always friends.

These friends have another friend that has a brother; both from the south
The three friends met this southern friend and his brother at different time and place
One friendship linked to another friendship and they all became friends
The friend from the south also has a farmland that the friends were free to visit
The five friends have many things in common that brings them regularly together
Everything bound by the seek for fun; anything that gives fun is welcomed
Even though these five friends are close, some are more close to another
The friend from the east is closer to the friend from the west
The friend from the north is closer to the friend from the south
The closer they lived close; still same friends.

There are two or more special trees in the different farmlands of the friends
Since these friends visits each others farm, they became automatic friends with the trees
These special trees are all matured with fruits; anyone can pluck and eat them
These friends have special trees they feed on their fruits from other people’s farmland
There was no rule not to feed on the fruits of the special trees in the friends different farmlands
Somehow it feels natural not to desire fruit from the special trees of the friends’ different farmlands
Nobody said but it seems natural that the fruits in the special trees the their friends farmland is sacred
Believing fruits in the special trees are sacred, there was a natural limit to interaction with the special tree
You can see and talk to the special trees but never to touch and pluck its fruits let alone eat it
Any outsider can pluck and eat the fruits of the special trees but out of bounds for friends.

It happened that the friend from the north has a liking for all special trees irrespective of where it is
It’s interesting to know that every special tree has a liking for the friend from the north irrespective of who he is
This friend from the north got close and closer to the special trees in his friends different farmlands
The friend from the north became more of a friend to the special trees more than his friends
Two special trees became more attached to the northern friend; they don’t mind giving out their fruits to him
The friend from the north asked his friends if it’s okay to pluck and eat the fruits of the special trees in their farms
The friends responded its okay so far they remain unaware when he starts plucking and eating from the special trees
For the northern friend, he has been issued a Go-ahead warrant to pluck and eat as much as he can
The friends were insincere with the approval given to the northern friend he cost them much
They really cared about the special tree so much they can’t let anyone eat it not even friends.

As days passed, the northern friend plucked and ate the fruits of the special tree in the western friend’s farmland
Time come time pass, he plucked and ate the fruits of the special tree in the eastern friend’s farmland
The two special trees grew very fond of the northern friend; they over-fed him more than he asked
The two special trees are ignorant that they are both eaten from; they hear the rumors and ignore it
The northern friend grew very fond of the special trees that he weeds their surroundings
The two special trees are struggling to make sure he ate from only one of them; he ate from both
The special tree from the west forced him to commitment with a promise to feed him all season
The special tree from the east is confused, just doesn’t know what to do as its owner is acting boss
The northern friend still feeds from other special trees; this northern friend has sworn to gluttony
With a smile and an innocent look; the weeds beg to feed him their grasses all through the season.

These friends shared many things in common but some things can never be shared
They can’t share the special trees they feed on and they can’t share the ones in their farmlands
The northern friend plucking and eating grew out hand; the western and eastern friend can no longer tolerate it
One common predator that preys on their farmland; ravaging, plucking and eating recklessly
They tried every strategy possible to stop the northern friend’s quest for ‘feed me more’
These efforts was a waste; when the friends don’t visit, the special trees visit, feeding enhanced
Since all solutions failed; the western and eastern friend proffered another solution
Draw line to the friendship; desist from visiting the northern friend’s farmland
No longer close friends, they exchange fake smiles and other pleasantries
End of friendship for the best yet the feeding continues for the worst.

The Cascade Adventures - Part 1

It's been four years since I've seen so much as an insignificant mountain creek. Been overburdened with comfort, now frantic with nature withdrawals, having to settle for photos found on Google Images: emerald pine trees, blue jays on limbs, moonlight cutting through forests, lakes the color of Windex-ed glass. It's much like drinking water that's been doused with Crystal Light... you may feel yourself becoming hydrated, when it reality it's only satiating your thirst temporarily. So you can imagine my joy when my best friend called me up to break the news.

"Monica, Brandon, Joel and I are gonna go backpacking. Care to join?"

the finality
of a cell hitting the floor -
shoe tying

Like a bunch of sardines packed in a can on wheels, we headed out to beautiful Cascade: the place where the Idahoan mountains aren't just paintings from afar, but close enough to taste. We weave our way through the spider-like dirt trails, as we each take turns changing songs on Joel's iPod. It's my go and I'm searching through the John Denver list, mourning the fact that there's over a hundred songs by him, and not one of them is Colorado Rocky Mountain High (the one song I could say fit my feelings to a tee). The menagerie of everyone's taste in music made for an interesting trip no doubt - even if Jonathan picked the worst possible jams simply for annoyances sake.

My first peculiar observation:

Humans have been making calendars for thousands of years (the first being more akin to cave drawings and stone tablets than paper). But as long as all that has been going on, the mountains don't care that August is expected to be sultry as November is expected to be chilly. Cause June took her first baby steps with a stubborn December mindset - a meandering way to say it was cold enough to freeze your nads off. The mounds of five feet snow made it all the more comical the fact I was wearing plaid shorts. Mother Nature wasn't going to be kind, I could tell.

like turtles
struggling to stand -
our packs full of crockery

It was breezy at first. We would practically glide down the mountain side, using our backpacks as a counter balance. The snowy counterpart to kangaroos, we were. The glistening flakes were thick enough to snowboard down - granted I never touched a snowboard, let alone ridden one. But after seeing this it gives me ideas...

Monica smiled for the camera, as I fumbled for my iPhone, a smile that didn't even require the forcible Say Cheese! nonsense. It wasn't waiting for the camera flash, but the other way around. Now you might be calling that rather pathetic, but I brought my iPhone along simply for the function of capturing memories. Angry Birds just don't compare to the real ones, sweet with lilting songs.

My second peculiar observation:

Google Images is an absolute horrid plagiarist; some beauty just can't be encapsulated despite all our advances in high-def technology.

The downward slope finally leveled out a bit, if only for a few minutes. Truth be told the path never stopped declining - some routes were simply more apparent than others. Our group of five walked single file through the trees, all basing our faith that Joel (a person who has been to the site once when the trail WASN'T covered in snow) would lead us in the right direction. And here's another interesting fact; this was no official trail, but a hike through the purest of adventures, unpredictable and unreliable.

crushing pine needles
with un-gloved fingers -
roaring rivers beneath the snow

The first time my whole leg collapsed into the fragile surface of the snow made me realize just how far above the dirt I was walking. I'd ask Brandon for assistance with a beet red blush on my cheeks - I blamed it on my fair skin falling victim to the sunny day. From then out I tiptoed with exaggerated caution, my heavy pack helping me just as much as it was hindering me. For even a foot drop had to be taken with a grain of salt. Everyone had to adjust to the added weight (except for Monica, with her light load of a sleeping bag, nothing else). I'd very ungracefully glide through twigs and pesky low branches, oblivious of my bare legs. In all honesty the cold didn't get to me, just the scratches of neighboring trees is where my concerns lied. At anytime I could have stopped the whole gang, beaming, "Wait a spell and let me put on some pants for crying out loud". Course that never happened, my clothes were in the bottom of my pack, and I was no where near desperate enough for monkeying around with that sorry mess.

slick slates
slanting down the cliff edge -
helping hands

Joel, with his redneck stubble, beams up at me, "Every hiking trip needs a little bit of adventure, don't rush it by any means!". That's the last thing on my mind - the first is whether or not that rock I'm about to put my weight on is as stable as she looks. It's a very roundabout route, and as questionable as it is, it's safer by a long shot than the first path we took - call it a 103 degree wall.

NOTE: Still working on writing out the rest of my trip to Cascade. It was my first backpacking trip and even though we only stayed one night, the trip is full of wonderful memories.

SO Far Away

I Stumble Upon My
Words – I’m
speechless
We were so far away
from each
other…I-I-I’m one
with
r-regret…f-feeling
incomplete…
I thought our love
was as worthless as
the debris…
You smoked me out
like a cigarette…and
y-you left me on the
filthy, messed-up
street…
I thought your kind
of “freedom” would
set us free…
From the rusty
chains, placed in
captivity…

I’ll find a way to
get you back for
another few years
But, I’d be
lying…don’t bottle
up the tears…
Talk with me, for we
are by each other’s
side…the words
escape my chapped
lips
We were so far
apart; now, we’re
both trying to get
our grips…
I thought your kind
of “freedom” would
set us free…
From the rusty
chains, not even
close to vitality

We were so far away
from each
other…I-I-I’m one
with
r-regret…f-feeling
incomplete…
I thought our love
was as worthless as
the debris…
You smoked me out
like a cigarette…and
y-you left me on the
filthy, messed-up
street…
Do you realize how
much pain you’ve
caused me?
We all wanted love,
but for the wrong
reasons…
Our relationship
changed like seasons
to seasons
I thought your kind
of “freedom” would
set us free…
From the rusty
chains that puts our
crazed hearts on a
leash...living in
misery...

We exchange
passionate, graceful
looks...I don’t know
what I’m fighting
for
Lonely & insecure
like the wolf, jaded
by his pack
heartlessly
Blindly walking the
road of recovery…I
need something to
live for…and more…
We all want you back
– we were all in
agreement, seeking
freedom eagerly
I thought your kind
of “freedom” would
set us free…
From the rusty
chains, beildered to
the extreme...here
shall e flee?

We were so far away
from each
other…I-I-I’m one
with
r-regret…f-feeling
incomplete…
I thought our love
was as worthless as
the debris…
You smoked me out
like a cigarette…and
y-you left me on the
filthy, messed-up
street…
Do you realize how
much pain you’ve
caused me?
We all wanted love,
but for the wrong
reasons…
Our relationship
changed like seasons
to seasons
I thought your kind
of “freedom” would
set us free…
From the rusty
chains - I'm rotting
like a starved tree

I’ll find a way to
get you back for
another few
years…I’d do
anything to have you
cuddle with me in
the blankets of
benevolent adoration
But, I’d be lying to
myself…don’t bottle
up the tears…don’t
cower away, getting
picked on by
countless fears and
nightmares…I’ll try
not to collapse into
the ditch of
frustration
Blindly walking the
road of recovery…I
need something to
live for…and more…
We all want you back
– we were all in
agreement…we yearned
for liberty…but
change is a
challenging chore!
I thought your kind
of “freedom” would
set us free…
From the rusty
chains...or e'll be
spellbound for
eternity

We were so far away
from each
other…I-I-I’m one
with
r-regret…f-feeling
incomplete…
I thought our love
was as worthless as
the debris…
You smoked me out
like a cigarette…and
y-you left me on the
filthy, messed-up
street…
Do you realize how
much pain you’ve
caused me?
We all wanted love,
but for the wrong
reasons…
Our relationship
changed like seasons
to seasons
I thought your kind
of “freedom” would
set us free…
From the rusty
chains - don't
mention our
fatality...our
unfortunate reality
that bos don to
tragedy like slaves
to their
master...hat a
pity...pity...

Whisper in my ears,
for I trust every
word that you utter
as long as you
remain faithful to
me and be loyal and
honest, friend…the
words escape my
chapped lips
We were so far apart
long ago; now, we’re
both trying to get
our grips…
We exchange
heartfelt, friendly
bear hugs...now, I
know what I’m
stronger than I
realize
I was once lonely &
insecure like a
weeping wolf, jaded
by his pack suddenly
I thought your kind
of “freedom” would
set us free…
From the rusty
chains...I feel
guilty for loving
you ith plastic love
rapped around my
heart...ith ruby
delight and golden
revenge ith a
sprinkle of sugar
and spice...no, I'm
figuring out ho to
get out of my on
maze, so graze in
your on maze, my
fallen angel of
Lamentation & the
aftershocks of
it...it's not that
pretty...believe
me...me...

Our pride and
confidence will
passed away at some
degree
Do you realize how
much pain you’ve
caused me?
We all wanted love,
but for the wrong
reasons…
I’m trying to get
over you…I must
forgive you
willingly
B-but, our
relationship changed
like seasons to
seasons
I Can’t Fathom The
Thought of you in
distress
You promised
perpetual “freedom”
that ould bring us
the Promise Land
I'm laying don in
ashes of
disheartening
regret...this
feeling of remorse
is not that
grand...don't you
understand my side
of the story? Do you
kno here I stand? I
NEED GOD'S HELPING
HAND...

GIANTVILLISM AND CITY OF THE BEAN PEOPLE PART 2

JAKE’S PLAN OF APPROACH
Once Jack awoke, he began to plan his approach. As he was doing this, he noticed many things about the environment that surrounded him. He paid close attention because these things would help him plan his approach more accurately to Giant’s being. This was home so therefore, it must affect him in some way somehow. The algae changed colors. The cells breathe and the air sometimes hyperventilated when it was required by the cellulosic life forming in Giantvillism. Thus, Giant could be startled and Jake could get his attention by talking to him this time until he knew it was appropriate to meet. That is when one did not fear the other. Jake expressed himself as the in-depth intellectual. Giant appeared and Jake said in his native language: “Hello Big Person. I have given you a name– Giant.” Giant looked startled. However, Giant said in his native language, which for whatever reason Jake understood: “Are you here on a visit? Are you cellulosic as well or something else?” Jake sense that someone or something else had visited here before so he asked: “Do you have many visitors?” Giant responded normally: “Yes, of the cellulosic kind but I feel you are different because you chose to hide.” Jake said: “We must get to know each other first and be comfortable with the knowledge that I am not like here before I come out of hiding. Giant, as I call you, I will know when that is appropriate or when it is time for us to meet in person. I will be back and we will get to know each other more. However, this time we must not because I sense your apprehension and you sense mine. Courage will be both our stance and maybe the vibes will tell us that the next time. Do you agree?” Giant says: “Yes go!” Jack found that Giant may be visually stronger than him but was not going to use that ability to seek him out this time. He asked himself why and left quietly. These meetings took place for several weeks when Giant stated: “Hello Jack and I do thank you for telling me your name. You may go but on your next visit we will meet in person. You know I am visually better than you and maybe once I seek you out, the next time you are in my village, I will tell you more! Bye for now and I’ll await your next visit. I will know when you arrive.” Jake said: “Thanks, and I will ponder over this for a moment before my return. Bye for now!” Jack leaves well pleased and [the] Giant sneeze, smiles and leave walking in the opposite direction of Jack as if by pure coincidence. Nevertheless, Jake did not sense this.
City of the Bean People
The City of the Bean People is quite a beautiful place. It is such a pleasant environment that no one mocks it in any way. The Bean People create landmarks that are individualized and part of each individual’s mind in which others cannot define. Jake has his own personal beanstalk as everyone does, therefore, this is how this is done. As a life formed, The Bean People remain little girls and boys even as adults in which age is just a number and mortal life is that of an immortal. The tallest male in the city is about 5 “7” and the shortest male is about 4 “9,” however, this is the majority of the time. Jake was one of the rare ones. He stood at 5 “6 ½” tall. The tallest female in the city was 5 “5” and the shortest female was 4 “7”. Nefa, Jake’s wife, stood at 4 “9” in which many of the females in City of the Bean People possessed the same height. Thus, one would know that Jake married because he loved Nefa as he did his own life. This is told because more than often in City of the Bean People marriage was chosen based on height and everyone want to be mated just right. Physical fitness was not an issue. Because this City was individually bean stalked, everyone climbed and walked. Obesity was not seen. More or less, in City of the Bean People, they were fine specimens of human beings. Body tight and muscles in place, City of the Bean People was ahead of nations in exercise, healthcare, and life span with a low mortality rate. Morals and principality were practice though The Doctrine of Crop and Harvest. Each male and female had to adapt to this doctrine in their own way and integrate it into the family once they became adults and mated in which marriage was mandated. The Bean People religion was denominational in which they called themselves Prosperus because they have lived their lives in abundance and prosperity since their creation and/or cellulosic existence - never being ill or poor always maintaining their subsistence.
