Leaves are falling down
Pumpkins will be ripening
Fall is coming now
The stench of endless days clings to my name;
My folly, like a rust, but stings not him.
A meek heart paid for by relentless blame,
Youth’s bitter wine- a draught forever grim.
Past twilights reel in cadences untrue,
I fall, a penitent within the flame;
Bound to repentance- ash where roses grew,
My voice, the echo of a sullied name.
O sickle, strike the valleys we once promised,
Lay low the ghosts that haunt my dwindled shore.
Let golden breaths on iron fleece be kissed,
And singe the thought that kept me wanting more.
So let the world unspool what once I wore,
That even ruin might return me pure.
As green leaves of August begin to change
The South winds of Summer plan to escape
September's North winds blow to rearrange
all the dying petals in the landscape
Where night skies grow a thinner, somber cloud
of duskier sunsets dressed in a shroud
A songbird sings of morning glory,
twittering homage to Dawn's first light.
And ebony shadows fade to shade
as they lose the protection of Night.
The sun rises from a scarlet shroud,
draping itself in a golden hue.
And shining above Earth's eastern rim,
light paints the sky a robin-egg-blue.
Blood tints the clouds cotton candy pink
as the heart of Night's pierced by Dawn.
And, soon, color is fully restored;
while dew sprinkles glitter on the lawn.
Butterflies and bumblebees waken;
as a new day slowly fills with sound.
And Hope renews with every sunrise:
it's not lost; it's waiting to be found.
you read what you want to read
you hear what you want to hear
you see what you want to see
so why won’t you ever be - who you want to be
Your love is the medicine
That healed my dying soul
From our first encounter
My broken heart felt whole
Your smile gave me a comfort
Taking away so many of my fears
When we shared our first embrace
I wanted it to last years
Your kiss removed the darkness
That I had been living in
The passion I saw in your eyes
Told me it's safe to love again
Before you came into my life
I'd given up on finding love
Then magically you appear
A precious gift from above
My life is crumbling down
And my walls are caving in
Its been headed down hill
Since i began a life of sin
I could've been a lawful man
And found a respectable way
I should have fought harder
At keeping temptation away
Now all my wrong choices
Are showing their ugly face
I can't escape from them
They refuse to give me space
I feel as though I'm sinking
Being swallowed by quicksand
I'm reaching out while Praying
Someone will grab my hand
I’m seventeen.
I have not smoked.
I attend my classes regularly.
I still haven’t gotten my permit.
I’m unattainable, and slightly unattractive.
The smoky fumes of the cigarette surround the air;
not from my mouth, but rather my mother’s.
She looks stressed as she puffs in and out the concentrated smoke.
Her forehead frowns beneath a soft smile.
I have not lived her life.
She has not lived mine.
I feel her frustrations now
and worries.
My lips now touch the same burning cigarette.
Alone in a dark corner
A fleeting smile was all it took

Clouds drift onward, dark and bright,
sailing softly out of sight.
The wind breathes free, a gentle sigh,
yet no law bends, no rules pass by.
A fleeting dance of air and time,
motion without reason, nor rhyme.
All things may shift, yet still remain,
for nature’s law holds firm, the same.
Emotions swell, then fade away,
like clouds that linger, then decay.
Joy and sorrow, swift they glide,
yet truth of heart will still abide.
A passing storm, a moment’s grace,
they move, yet keep their rooted place.
Through every mood, the soul’s refrain,
unchanged, its essence will remain.
Desperation, draw me not like magnets pull
But once again let saneness possess me in full
Do not ravage me like a loin upon its prey
Block not the seeds of thoughts that come to save the day
Like limbs of a tree in the presence of a gale force wind
The heavy weight of thy encumbrance makes me bend
As a cookie being crushed underneath a fisted hand
Sapping my power, I become a broken man
Hope beyond my greatest self, suddenly appears
Dashing all desperate thoughts, releasing all my fears
Focused like a camera’s lens, my eyes see a way
Attitude and mindful thought, must have their say
Ideals forming one by one, possibilities
Desperation lost this time, healed is my choice of realities
Venus dropping chandelier dreams
Jupiter glides catching cocoa creams ~
lymph drops glisten diamond formation
topaz glide froth transmutation ~
Tonight the dark feels darker
As if the light is trying to hide
Even the sounds of the night
Have been silenced or died
There's no moon softly glowing
Or any stars illuminating the sky
There's only this vast emptiness
I'm able to grasp with my eye
The darkness consumes my being
An eerie feeling begins to arise
I observe my surroundings in fright
Only desolation fills up my eyes
Lost in this darkness that is life
Im looking and hoping for a light
That little flicker of distant hope
That will assure me I'll be all right
She is your reason
To do right and be strong
To not embarrass nor shame her
So she feels secure where she belongs
Her childhood is your reason
One not to be marred
Letting your guard down
Memories become scarred
Your beautiful family is your reason
To stay focused and in control
Your highest priority
Keeping your family happy and whole
I know its not easy
You are trying so hard
Doing unbelievably well
At not dropping your guard
We who love you
Will always support and guide
You mean everything to us
We stand proudly by your side
The truth is, it is an ongoing battle
Every day, every week, every season
Just always, always remember
She …..is your reason!
