Tell Me

                          Tell me
            Whispering softly to me low
              Secrets meant just for us
                      I melt and say
                         I’m yours

Only Longing

I think of you sometimes - your strong arms around me - and a white cloud envelops me gleaming. At times the cloud is grey, for life rains down on me. You are not here; I have only. . . longing. Traditional style cinquain: syllable count: 2/4/6/8/2 for the Cinquain Contest of Dr.Ram Mehta (theme: Longing)

Wrongful conviction

Sweetened dung is shoveled down
gluttonous throats with eager appetites for
alleged misdeeds skillfully spun
into a frenzy of sensationalized hype
by media-seasoned reporters.
.
Seduced by speculation and hearsay,
a jury of pseudo-intellectuals assembles
neatly with moral turpitude tied
smug and tight around rigid white collars
stained heavy with sweat and anticipation.

She stands alone as the eyes of
the court pierce through her appraising
her posture and expression while
the echo of charges being read dissipates
with the smell of type ink and old mahogany.

Fragments of truth embellished
for shock-value and dramatic effect
spill forth as vomit
from confessional mouths
reeking of rot and fermentation.

Vulturous prosecutors rise in fluid
motion squawking accusations in
expert execution of closing arguments,
pecking apart flesh, unconscionably
scattering the meaty bones of her defense.

The poet and the jester (on embracing duality)

It is the conversation
between the poet and the jester.
The poet- with solemn introspection;
the jester- with careless regard,
each captivating the other.

It is the ultimate irony
of this unlikely coupling,
entwining their words,
combining truth and mischief,
sabotaging established decorum.

Neither threatened nor contrite,
nor challenging the others' wisdom,
but with enthusiastic fornication
and eager indecency
they consecrate their mutual madness

Empty

Empty
like bottled air
clinging to nothing real,
except to slippery inside walls
of space

Empty
like heart chamber
holding on to first love
bouncing back and forth, side to side
then gone

Empty
like nerve feeling
continued ceaseless pain
until all feeling is dissolved
or cold

Lost in the Autumn Air

Words tremble
Crisp winds bear burdens
Summer promised, as daylight drifts away
Your heart.... singing in choirs of fading bloom
Hears not

Sweet Music

                                  He sits
                          Softly Humming
And seems to have no cares,
               Playing peacefully with his toys
                               For hours.

                                He sings
Words that seem to stem from his heart.
                 Words that have no meaning,
                         Yet sweet they be;
                                  To me.

Traces

Traces
In the wet sand
Footprints of gulls, and man
Disappear in the tidal dance
Of waves.

Traces
In the red dust
Feet of man, and horses
Up in canyons, leave no trace of
The brave.

Traces
In the garden
Of such delightful scents
In spring and summer by winter
Erased.

Traces
Of human life
Throughout world's history
However, are reported upon its
Pages.
Traces
Of wins and woes
Like hand prints upon walls
Can't be erased, for their foothold
Remains.

Loves End

                              Grasping
Every ounce of love you give me
                   Knowing it shall soon end
                          Shall it last me
                             No chance

Heaven's Grace

Thoughts
beautiful ones
lost in work
all I need now
Imagination

As I stand at the threshold of imagination,
forcing these hallowed gates open,
I enter a magical land.
Soulful poetry flowing everywhere
Precious words crystallize in the air
Soaking it I stand
Ideas blooming on every tree
Creativity buzzing with the bee
I feel a divine hand

I put pen to paper and words fall in place
I have none to thank but heaven's grace.

Gold Refined

Unstable
Uneven ground
When you sit on a fault
For a heartbreak makes your faith
falter.

Restore
A broken trail
Requires sunshine and rain
Water cleansing the heart that needs
Warm rays.

Resource
From high above
Be the only recourse
To recover, the heavens charged
With force.

The Force
That never fails
May be at times at bay
By somber fearful clouds
A phase.

To build
Your inner strength
Which raises faith again
That the sunrise brings a new day
That grants.

New hope
Comes to restore
Your dream sleeping no more
The tarnished gold of your soul, refined
Bright ore.

Weeping Willow

                                              The tall
                                        Weeping willow
                                     Waves majestically
Somehow she seems to be haunted
                                             Moaning

                                              Maybe
                           She’s merely airing her branches
                                   In the windy meadow
                                       Being heard by
                                              Spirits
