WHEN I STOP AND PRAY

When the storm clouds boil around me,
And the lightning splits the sky--.
When the howling wind assails me,
And life's sea is rolling high--
When my heart is filled with terror,
And my fears, I can't allay--
Then I find sweet peace and comfort,
When I simply stop and pray.

When the things of life confound me,
And my faith is ebbing low--
When my trusted friends betray me,
And my heart is aching so--
When the night seems black and endless,
And I long for light of day--
Then I find a silver dawning,
When I simply stop and pray.

There are things beyond the heavens
I can't begin to understand,
But I know that God is living,
And I know He holds my hand.
Yes, I know He watches o'er me
All the night and all the day--
And He's always there to hear me
When I simply stop and pray.

Every now and then

Every now and then I come to you a climbing jasmine through the window of your heart a perfumed smile beneath your sheets a sweet scent in waking thoughts an empty porch of swinging dreams Every now an then I come to you a hush-hushed whisper on a restless night a drop of sunshine on winter lips a tender touch upon bare shoulder a yearning moment in ardent kiss Every now and then I come to you a melting snowflake upon your lash a silent breeze tickling your cheek soft gentle wind behind your ear a vivid memory a vision gone a lingered breath which once was here

Sleeping With The Enemy

SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY

See what you want to see.
Don't Look at me!
You are staring you are watching;
Eat what you can't be..

Come sleep by my side.
The whole world is our playground..
Don't make a sound..
Stop clowning around

In the mist of the night,
You keep me from crying

I wipe off the taste of your lips.
You kiss me starting at my inner hips.
You broke me in a way..
I hate to say your love is better every day
I deny you, the one thing I can't say.

You are my pillow..
Where I rest my legs,
Can you feel me~
This moment feels right
I just want to die here,
Die here ~
Die here by your side..

I sleep with my eyes wide open,
I sleep with the enemy by my side
Come here and hold me..
After you watched my worlds collide..
Come here and love me..
I'm yours till the end of time...
You can rock me!
Under the moon and its rhyme..
I put it all to a side, how I hate you inside.
I can't let go,,
I just want you to know,
I'm a fool in love with you..
Even if it doesn't show!

The Garden of Adonis Lyrics

If I kissed you in the morning
would you stay,
or like the mist here in the garden
would you slowly fade away,
and if the sunlight warmed your lonely brow
and made you smile,
would you be here by my side
and walk with me a while.

There's a blushing glow of roses,
A rouge upon your cheeks,
A hint of mellow sadness in your eyes
And a heart that wants to trust
In your smile.

I wish I knew
the secret to your love
I wish I knew
I wish I knew

Will you wander here with me
and let's just share the day.
Who knows, perhaps we'll find our way.

If I kissed you in the morning
would you stay,
or like the mist here in the garden
would you slowly fade away.

IT'S OVER

You thought you’d make a fool of me
I was so blind but now I see
So now you’ve had your little joke
Guess I’m just warning other folk

You’d look at me with those bedroom eyes
But your tender words I now despise
You broke my heart through and through
Well honey I’ve got news for you

Your designer clothes are now in rags
Packed up inside black plastic bags
Your cars been scratched and it’s got a dent
Your names been taken off the rent

You love to flirt, but you’re a cheat
You’re just like a dog on heat
But I’m now aware of your little game
No man will hurt me ever again

Don’t get taken in by charming men
They use you and just start again
From now on I am in control
Hey man you’re just an asshole

It Is Springtime In Heaven

It is now springtime in heaven Sky is so blue...sun shining so bright Beautiful flowers are everywhere Angels are dancing...as the harps play Here on earth...we scamper around Sky is so blue...sun shining so bright Beautiful flowers are everywhere We are missing the angels in heaven Angels are dancing...as the harps play They await the day...as we do also As once again we will all be together Our mothers and us...in heaven above Dedicated to: Our Mothers in Heaven and her children who will be missing her this weekend on Mother's Day To all of you who still have your mother here on earth with you make sure she knows how much you love her.

Kiss The Sky

Dropped some purple haze with Jimi -
we created castles out of polished beach glass,
then we fused with acid-laced clouds.

Kissed the sky
so high.

Jimi started bawling,
his torrential tears washed us down and out to sea.
Each drop of water became a pixel,
until reality morphed into a painting of musical notes,
and the music transformed back into a fresh reality.
There wasn't any more doubt
whether we were experienced now -- and how.

The tide washed us up into heavy crosstown traffic.
Jimi wandered down Voodoo Blvd,
I became a hoodoo child
gobbling up sugar cubes filled with liquid sunshine.
I watched the yellow cabs race by,
watched the heavy metal race by.

Jimi was jacked into electric ladyland,
his radiant smile, hiding pain
and covering other people's lies.
Even so, Jimi believed in his message,
sincerity set him apart from the crowd,
which is why he made sure
not to let his smile, wither and die.
But the more that his manager pushed,
the more that Jimi's pusher came....

Jimi was hypnotized by the flashbulbs of fame,
attempting to out-run a childhood filled with shame -
blowing out speaker stacks
with that twisted pedal magic,
spellbinding incantations
vibrated from his guitar,
making love to the sky with rainbow hues
of acid rock-induced rolling blues.

Jimi simply wanted someone to love him back
even half as much as he could,
for Jimi's love was honest and hard,
with wings waiting to be released
into a world not yet ready to be fully free.

Kissed the sky.

Kiss the sky
so high.

SWEET ISLAND GIRL

Early morn
Birds still sleep
Crickets warm
Not a peep
Coffee in hand
Dreams are free
Thinking of you
Thinking of me
Last night's prayer
Has made it here
Rain soaked skies
Begin to clear
And what I see
On distant shore
Sweet Island girl
I long for more
Hear your heart
We are in tune
I love you so
I'm coming soon

Sing Solitude-Play Soltude-Confetti's Song

Hidden away
between the broken chimes
of church bells
lies the dream of a man
the waltz of a butterfly
and love for one woman
He carves her name from a star
on a pebble~
burying it deep
where corals sleep

Across the moon
wishes concieve
from moist salt on his cheek
in the womb of an ocean
ocean so deep,ocean so dark
dark as the night in his soul

Hidden away
between the broken chimes
of church bells
lies the dream of a woman
the soft breeze of a petal
and love for one man
She paints his smile from a rainbow
holding it high ~
where sunsets splash
in the sky

Across the moon
wishes concieve
in the womb of a desert
desert so steep,desert so dry
dry as each crack on her lips

Hidden away
between the melidious chime
of church bells
lives the love of a man
lives the love of a woman
where oceans meet
where deserts greet
where stars collide
where dewdrops fall
Lashes caress
the dream in their eyes

Play Solitude...Sing...

Belly Dancer

I walked in and found a chair,
And sat down and saw you there;
The light was shining, the light was low,
The candle flickered soft and slow.

The lonely music filled the night,
I felt right then my heart take flight;
The voice that taunts behind the veil,
Haunting echoes that sob and wail.

Hips that glide with slow gyrations,
Arms that weave with undulations;
Languid eyes touched with kohl,
Whisper words to flame the soul.

The sounds of that persistent beat,
Soothe the brow with passion's heat;
Lost in the scene that ignites my eye,
Heats my skin and makes me cry.

You move thro night and cast your spell,
And thoughts I think I'll never tell.
Let's pretend there'll be no end,
For you are more to me than friend;

I want to take you in my arms,
And feel the warmth that never harms;
I play on the strings of love's romance,
As you swing and sway in a belly dance

IT IS WHAT IT IS

Sweetheart, you never really fell for me
Head over heels, you loved a fantasy
You had a perfect dream of who I'd be
I liked that guy too.. but it wasn't me

It is what it is, It is what it is
It is what it is, It is what it is

You never really.. gave us a chance
More in love with the thought of romance
You turned a blind eye to reality
Girl, I can flat dance but you couldn't see

It is what it is, It is what it is
It is what it is, It is what it is

You walked out the door, I let you go
God knows it hurts to reap what you sow
It's better this way, I only wish you well
But I gotta be me.. even when me means hell

It is what it is, It is what it is
It is what it is, It is what it is

I've heard it said there's lots of fish in the sea
I gotta believe there's one fish made for me
So I'm sailing today, I'm not waiting around
I can not rest until my true love is found..

Cause,
It is what it is
    just the way it is
It is what it is
    just the way it is

It is what it is
It is what it is

HOCUS POCUS-WORDS, THE HEART OF IMAGINATION

Is imagination just a childish game
And is outside the box really lame
If there's no skin can love still exist
Is trusting the unseen a foolish risk

They say such fantasy can not real
Those aren't feelings that you feel
Your heart really didn't skip a beat
Words alone can't create this heat

Well I'm not buying it
I don't have to see
To trust the invisible
What it can be
You can't define
A lover's heart
What I'm feeling
And where it starts
Your words are magic
They captivate me
Hocus pocus
Your soul I see

They say dreams are lies, let them go
If she's not present how can you know
Sacred mysteries surely can't be true
No physical presence.. no me and you

Well I'm not buying it
I don't have to see
To trust the invisible
What it can be
You can't define
A lover's heart
What I'm feeling
And where it starts
Your words are magic
They captivate me
Hocus pocus
Your soul I see

I'm in love, I've never seen your face
But what I've felt can't be erased..

I'm buying you
I don't have to see
To trust the invisible
What it can be
Girl, I feel it
A lover's heart
From the inside out
Is where it starts
Your words are magic
They captivate me
Hocus pocus
Your soul I see

*They say falling in love is wrong but it sure feels right

WE'RE STILL WE

Just because we're not together
Doesn't mean we're far apart
You may no longer see me
Cause I'm hidden in your heart
I am the warmth in your sunrise
The breeze dancing in your hair
Don't think for even a moment
That I'm gone, no longer there

I'm singing through that sparrow
My fragrance is in the rose
My shade is under the big oak
I'm in the poem you just composed
I still see you in the moonlight
Tell all your secrets to me
I'm closer than you can imagine
Never alone, girl we're still we

You

It's been a long time on the bump and grind.
There's so much that I could tell.
Inside and outside, I have scars to find.
I've been living through this hell.

But you...turned my life around...but you...
I wasn't in the right frame of mind,
To give my heart away.
It seemed impossible to find,
The night to my day.
But you...walked into my life..but you
Convinced and completed
You were there when I needed....you.

It was a rough road on recovery.
You're smile eased all my pain.
somehow you forgive the hard side of me.
You give with nothing to gain.

But you... turned my life around..but you
When you smiled on my darkest days
You are my loving light.
I don't need to fear lonely anymore.
My life turns out all right.
When you...walked into my life..when you
Said you'd be my wife..
You were there when I needed...only you.

I love the way

I love the way

I love the way your gentle blue eyes shine

As your lovely face, it tells me you are mine

No words could tell, the love I have for you

It shines through me, so pure and sweet and true.

My years with you, have been the best I’ve known

Through all these years my love has grown and grown

I know, at times I’m hard to understand

Yet how I melt beneath our love so grand.

Until the end of time we two be one

Our love so vast it could outshine the sun

Together we two drown within such bliss

I’d die without your love, be sure of this.

Nothing could ever stem my love for you

It fills the Earth, the seas, the sky so blue

Forever and a day, this love in me

Will join us two together endlessly.

Half Baked Sinner

(my lyrics for a country song, but with no music yet.)

Well, my momma -bless her soul - she brought me up good.
She taught me all she knew and she taught me what she should,
She took me to a church and she made me knock on wood.
Still, Honey, I’m a half-baked sinner.

‘Cause I’m sittin’ here and thinkin’ that you’re look’in mighty fine.
You set my heart to pound’in and I’d like to make you mine.
But I’m such a careful gal though I walk a thin line,
Yeah, Honey, I’m a half-baked sinner.

 Chorus:
Oh, a half-baked sinner; that’s all I am.
Stuck here in the middle of “Nowhere Land.”
A half-baked sinner, I’m God’s little joke,
but I still have my spirit ‘cause I’m only half-broke!

Well, I’m contemplatin’ things with you I’m not supposed to do.
If I’m halfway to Hell, they’ll put me all the way through!
But I’m only HALF-stupid - unlucky for you!
Yes, Honey, I’m a half-baked sinner.

Yes, I know you’ve got your pride, but listen, so do I.
I might not tell the truth, but I sure don’t tell no lie!
And I never will give in, for if you ask me why,
It’s because I’m just a half-baked sinner.

Repeat Chorus:
Oh, a half-baked sinner; that’s all I am.
Stuck here in the middle of “Nowhere Land.”
A half-baked sinner, I’m God’s little joke
but I still have my spirit ‘cause I’m only half-broke!

Blame Game

You’re so devoted to all your grudges,
You cherish them like they're a prize;
You hold them with pride on your pedestal
Bursting with bliss as your relationships die.

Next time you frame everyone's mistakes
And hang them right above their head,
You should hang up a mirror as well
And take a good look at yourself instead.

You love to play the blame game
So let's play another round-
What's wrong- are you too ashamed
To turn your finger around?

You're so foolish to expect anybody
To respect a narcissistic point of view;
Within your childish perception the lens
Is solely focused on you, you, you, and you.

Next time you frame everyone’s mistakes
And hang them right above their head,
You should hang up a mirror as well
And take a good, long look at yourself instead.

You love to play the blame game
So let's play another round-
What's wrong- are you too ashamed
To turn your finger around?

Yeah, you love to play the blame game
So let's play another round-
What's wrong- are you too ashamed
To turn your finger around?

Thank You For This Bounty, God

Thank you for this bounty, God
that you give to me
for grain that grows within the field
and fruit upon the tree
Thank you for the little seeds
that in the spring are sown
and with your gifts of sun and rain
have through the summer grown
Thank you for the farmers, Lord
and bless them for their toil
as now they gather in the fall
this bounty from your soil

This was inspired by Brian Strands' Harvest Hymn Contest, which I unfortunately missed
but I wanted to share it with you today and dedicate it to Brian for the inspiration and
support he gives to us here at the Soup. RG

His funeral

That he planned his funeral is factual
And being a prankster quite actual
He prerecorded his voice
So when we kneeled on the joist
He said, "Hi there! Don't I look natural."

Twas A Full Moon Shining - Collab

Twas a full moon shining on a cool summer night And hound dogs were howling at its silver shadowed light. I heard but a whisper on the cool evening breeze, Twas the voice of a woman I used to chase and tease. Our love was forever, at least I used to think it so. Then came the day she left me; I wondered, where’d she go? If true love lasts forever, is this love not for me? I heard an answer on the wind - Son, your true love is she. A true love will always linger in the shadows of your heart Even when the one you love has chosen to depart. True love is the love you gave, no matter what the cost It will return to you again, for it is never lost. Like a full moon shining on a cool summer night With placid waters glistening in its silver shadowed light Love comes like a whisper on a cool evening breeze A gentle touch, a soft caress, a rustle in the trees. There is no bitterness in the past, if your love was true The sweetness in the memory is true love’s gift to you A rising sun or new full moon is not a memory And so will love come once again, if you let it be. Twas a full moon shining on a cool summer night And hound dogs were howling at its silver shadowed light I heard but a whisper on the cool evening breeze, Twas the voice of love’s song...answering my pleas.

Aster 'Blue Autumn'

(This is a specific type of Aster with full name Aster 'Blue Autumn') Aster 'Blue Autumn,' summer wanes. The shining sky of dusk is drenched in splendor. Tremulously, I watch shadows that arrive all to soon-to purloin sun's last rays. Aster 'Blue Autumn,' how you thrive in fields amidst a throng of goldenrod! And always you forego the chill of nights that come to steal away the last of Summer's days. Aster 'Bue Autumn,' Virgo aches, and you're re-birthed from star dust that she cries- to bloom beneath blue skies until the fatal time when breath is snatched . . . Pensively I wait. This Song is for my Mother

This song is for my mother
Let her hear me cry
I couldn’t bring myself to write it
‘Til this darkened day arrived
A song about old promises
Made so long ago
Created and cremated
Ashes of the words I spoke

Long separated by the miles
Distanced from her golden smiles
Memory of a mother
Shared my dreams and really cared

Long separated by the miles
Distanced from her golden smiles
Mama…
I know I wasn’t there……

For you

Would have placed
A magic carpet
‘neath your weak and shaky legs

Would have raised
A strong west wind
Let you breathe with ease again

Would have bribed
God’s venal angels
Come and soothe your endless pain

Would have vanquished
All the demons
And bring peace to you again

Be the child
I never knew
In a land
We won’t grow old

Be the light
I always loved
Warmed my dark
And lonely soul

Be the girl
Playing games
In a world
The sun won’t set

Be the laughter
Calms my heart
I never will forget
I won’t forget, won’t forget

This song is for my mother
Let her hear me cry
Couldn’t bring myself to write it
‘Til this darkened day arrived
Song about old promises
Made so long ago
Created….cremated
Ashes of the words I spoke

I broke my promises, oh mama
Now you’ve gone away
I’m broken
Drowning in the pain each day

I’m drowning…drowning...drowning…drowning

This song is for my mother
Let her hear me…….

What Is This Dance?

What is this dance we do?
First you spin me, twirling with delight
Captivated by your attentive gaze
Then you turn your back as I move toward you

So many times we’ve been on this floor
One step forward, two steps back
Movements that confuse a bewildered heart
Often I feel I’m dancing alone

Dancing in the dark
Waiting for a spark

Our bodies once swayed rhythmically
Now we seem to be out of sync
Is our music about to end?
Have you no emotions to share?

Foolish girl, keeps dancing to reach you
Each time I draw near, you back away
And still it seems you want me to stay
For an eternity drawn to a love unrequited

Dancing in the dark
Waiting for a spark

My dancing shoes I place on a shelf
Along with my dreams, pieces of myself
Perplexed by your desire to continue
Pirouetting toward the unknown

You have always led, as I have followed
Hoping to restore spirits that once soared
Like gazelles across an uneven floor
Leaping, ever leaping toward nothingness

Dancing in the dark
Waiting for a spark
Leaving faded marks
On a dance floor stark

FIRST CHERUBIC CHANCE

This road is snake-like except
for the crusty scales of an intestinal
late dusk. A boy treaded on the
lane tracks lean and nomadic...
burnt shoulders grilled and toasted by
the sun, as if his coal skin sparked like
burning diamond weeds. In a flash, a tender
sorcery poured in my veins. There and then,
I longed to whisper a tune, play the tambourine or
partake of the loaf in my sack with him.
But he waited for paper clouds to ruffle his hair,
seemingly undisturbed by pilgrims like me
holding unto holy relics and bones of night. The gauze
shirt as his frock winged with the silver winds,
windblown stroking my ebony tresses with a whisper
hushed by his delicate omnipresence.

In a dimly lit bus, sand wheezed tribal notes
moist on my eyelids uprooted by uncontained
temples of longing, now becoming thick
as woolen destiny. If only for a flicker of time,
his eyelids met mine so briefly... parting saline dust
of sacred, smiling gazes. I was inside a cell
of a wombed bus. He was outside enlarged by a
hundred stars exploding dewdrops, inviting eternity.
For a fraction of silence, we met somewhere
between the fluorescent of our twin eyes. He, the angel
first fondly encountered ; I, the dreamer ever bewildered…
I remember...I was five.

                           ---oooo----oooo---
