The Mission Trip To Please

On mission trip overseas
At least one week will do
Hold babies gently squeeze

Whether in cold where freeze
In rain forest where view
On mission trip overseas

My hearts desire will please
Feed hungry babies stew
Hold babies gently squeeze

Give up my life of ease
Place on feet needed shoes
On mission trip overseas

Help babies who cough wheeze
For mothers good tea brew
Hold babies gently squeeze

Perfect week just do these
Open heart my love grew
On mission trip overseas
Hold babies gently squeeze

Our Liberty Blazing Soldiers

"...when power narrows the areas of man’s concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of his existence...” --John F. Kennedy ~~~~~~~***~~~~~~~
Soldiers of our armed forces, Iraq, Afghan, Lebanon, many shores, Light the way like liberty blazing torches They fight heat, bugs, sand, tough faces, urban warfare, darkness, crashed doors, Soldiers of our armed forces Now Send home change of addresses, stories, photos, emails, strange places, Light the way like iron cut by torches Camouflage faces, wet bloody bruises, brows sweating, under helmet gushes, Soldiers of our armed forces Sleep in sandy humid desert trenches, thunder blast, bombs dropped, fire fights, Light the way like laser torches Loved ones wear yellow broaches, anxiety, praise, tears, vague smiles, Soldiers of our armed forces, Light the way like liberty blazing torches.

The End of Me

There are pieces I haven't yet shown. You see,
you hear, you taste, you sense... but is it real?
This is definitely not the end of me.

As the water gets immersed in soothing tea,
I hope your heart gets immersed in sound and feel.
There are pieces I haven't yet shown, you see.

And I will tend to these words that long to be,
as a blacksmith polishes bronze and steel.
In a lonely bliss, just my own thoughts and me.

I uncage these birds, let them fly and be free;
soar into cotton clouds and skies of teal,
yeah, watch 'em fly from sea to shining sea.

Climbing these peaks with bent back and broken knee;
still stealing every sight there is to steal.
This is definitely not the end of me.

I believe true beauty is never easy,
I may not win, but I will always deal.
For there are pieces I haven't yet shown, you see.
I'll give it all I got until the end of me.

My Hearts Song

These words are my hearts song
I bleed a script on how I feel
The sanctum, to which I belong

Harmony, hate, peace, and love are strong
I am not limited one emotion
These words are my hearts song

Un-veil the scroll of my life’s bond
Enter my lucid mind, over-flowed passion
The sanctum, to which I belong

Inspired by events of breaths prolonged
To exhale, you first must inhale
These words are my hearts song

Burning in my heart so long
This here pen is my ember
The sanctum, to which I belong

In my Eden of words, I do no wrong
With an idle quill between my fingers
These words are my hearts song,
The sanctum, to which I belong.

Another Confession, Inspired by Denise Narayadu's Confessions of a Drug

You invigorated my mind, then followed my heart I felt the loss of myself as the dark hours passed Will this wanting ever end, how could I let it start You were so clever slowly breaking me part by part Brief moments of euphoria that never seem to last You invigorated my mind, then followed my heart Now I’m a donkey and for a carrot I’ll pull the cart Slave to a cruel master and forever I will be outcast Will this wanting ever end, how could I let it start A wise fool I am, confessing myself I’m so smart Foolishness displayed by the useless questions I ask You invigorated my mind, then followed my heart If you’re confessing your weakness, I’ll cast a dart You feel the sting, and my words make you aghast Will this wanting end, how could I let is even start You want reality to be one glorious work of art Out of that, only shame and regret have amassed You invigorated my mind, then followed my heart Will this wanting ever end, how could I let it start
As stated this was inspired by Denise Narayadu's poem. Denise is a wonderful poet who's work I recently discovered, she's gaining momentum quickly.

Near the Star I Travel

Not a place that no man has traveled before
To think so would be ridiculous at the least
What will I find, what can there be in store

My crew hope, affection, sympathy and more
Each member plays there part in the big piece
Not a place that no man has traveled before

Why travel to unknown places, what is it for
The unknown and insecurity, wait like a beast
What will I find, what can there be in store

That place of famous legends and all the lore
Just seeking a strange new world of peace
Not a place that no man has traveled before

Looking always inside searching my own core
Is there any sign of life or only the deceased
What will I find, what can there be in store

In this new civilization will I stand in rapport
Or am I just a prisoner waiting to be released
Not a place that no man has traveled before
What will I find, what can there be in store

Total Destruction

< Destruction of beautiful mother earth
Will it spin off mantel like head to gawk
Or destroyed by mankind for what it's worth

Floods fires quakes acts from natures own birth
                                     Litterbugs arsonists terrorists balks
                                     Destruction of beautiful mother earth

                                    Illuminate waters that someone hurts
Cleanliness is painted in Godly chalk
Or destroyed by mankind for what it's worth

Man woman and even thy smallest mirth
For thy Father in our Heaven will stalk
                                    Destruction of beautiful mother earth

Eagle that soars a wolf howling from girth
Will thy it's freedom ring out thus like the hawk
Or destroyed by mankind for what it's worth

Like land before time when man walked
Wonder how forces existed and talked
                                   Destruction of beautiful mother earth
Or destroyed by mankind for what it's worth

The Leavings

My Lord the end is near, gone within have I to thee…..
multitudes of bright, lemon drop, sweet tarts pave our way.
Choosing now to remain, linger, going deep with in the ocean free.

Forms incorporeal above me rise to celestial sea.
The earth bathes now in rarest form portrayed.
My Lord the end is near, gone within have I to thee…..

While Hosanna’s fade from still whole memory
with outstretching hand a mate for me waylaid.
Multitudes of bright, lemon drop, sweet hearts pave our way

Alpha and omega will we be, and from all sin have we been freed.
For we seek the harder path the joy delayed.
My Lord the end is near, gone within have I to thee…..

Yet, He abandons we, “NO He does NOT!” a different fate have we.
And, with golden kisses each soul drops as they pray.
Multitudes of bright, lemon drop, sweet hearts pave our way.

The larger scheme of dark and light replays with joyous glee.
Deep with our Lord, His Love He does display.
My Lord the end is near, gone within have I to thee…..
Multitudes of bright, lemon drop, sweet hearts pave my way.

After This You Needn't Regret

After this you needn't regret
Your life is bourn as your child today
Voudrais tu une cigarette?

All stakes are high upon this bet
Though grace and patience is all to pay
After this you needn't regret

In warmth and bonds may trust inset
The glow of knowing till egos play
Voudrais tu une cigarette?

Advice wears over for angst's outlet
Never rash nor heavy, never lose light in day
After this you needn't regret

In a wink and a worry in your Autumn set
A thought to the child now grown away
Voudrais tu une cigarette?

Then a day your child takes up the fret
You smile to see their berth and say:
After this you needn't regret
Voudrais tu une cigarette?

Am I here or is it only a myth

I call out and tell you I am right here
Do you hear the call or look elsewhere
Always have I held something dear

I am a little jaded so I avoid the fear
Now I'm the tortoise and life is the hare
I call out and tell you I am right here

You must know that I hold you near
Insecurity though will always scare
Always have I held something dear

I wait for any sign at all to appear
Avoiding games like truth or dare
I call out and tell you I'm right here

But I'm just the friend like a spare
If you are searching I am the where
Always have I held something dear

I am different and never do compare
A beast of nature never do I veer
I call out and tell you I am right here
Always have I held something dear

Our Twenty-Nine

Our Twenty-Nine
©2012 C. Brent Cloyd

You have been my darling for twenty-nine
Traveling state to state, place to place
My partner, my lover, my valentine.

We’ve had and held on in good times or bad
We’re not rich, nor poor, but our house is full
You have been my darling for twenty-nine.

You brought forth three children into our home
Two have moved away, one remains with us
My partner, my lover, my valentine.

Daring to believe we pursued the wind
We chased dreams, some saw light and some faded
You have been my darling for twenty-nine.

Faith, hope, love, and adventure paved our path
The call to service has been our highway
My partner, my lover, my valentine.

We have known joy and we have known sorrow
But our journey has brought satisfaction
You have been my darling for twenty-nine
My partner, my lover, my valentine.

The Runner

The runner, lonely in his stead, does go
both feet a cumbered patter, sure and long
with weight his countenance will not bestow

against the heavy breaker's undertow.
As rival sinews, breath and bone hold strong
the runner, lonely in his stead, does go.

His pendulum-like legs reap as they sew -
a grand chorale of agony in song.
With weight his countenance will not bestow,

instinctive machination sets to flow
like streams from mountaintops to seas belong,
the runner, lonely in his stead, does go.

His streamlined members pronate to and fro,
drumming loose the shouts of inner wrong
with weight his countanence will not bestow,

so sees the beckoned light of finish grow.
Though pain and pumping blood it will prolong,
the runner, lonely in his stead, does go
with weight his countenance will not bestow.

Villanelle for the Death of Archery

There are far too many things that you don't know
The revelry and squalor tucked away
It's time to pull the curtain on my show

A million little boxes in a row
To bury or to swallow was the game
There are far too many things that you don't know

Choked it down the prickles of my throat
Then replaced my shovel with a spade
It's time to pull the curtain on my show

The perfect Swedish angel in the snow
The sickness that I still feel to this day
There are far too many things that you don't know

I loved you then I love you now and so
Painful that it has to be this way
It's time to pull the curtain on my show

Complacency and solemn still the bow
The quivver and the arrows won't obey
There are far too many things that you don't know
It's time to pull the curtain on my show
