The Eternal Tree

I am Alive Forever and always Essence Rebirth Renewal
I have earth to ground me I have wind to move me I have fire to cleanse
my spirit I have rain to quench my thirst for growth
I have sun to enlighten me feed me I am my own mother
and an extension of the whole I am Earth wind
rain sun fire I am as old as life and I am as young
as time I am shelter to those who seek me I am a bird a flower and the breath
of the earth itself I am exactly where I want to be I am life
I am first and last the beginning and the end I am one from many
I am what I am I live I grow and I die. I am Reborn unto myself
                                                          I am the great circle
                                                           My limbs know no
                                                           Boundaries; while
                                                           My leaves whisper
                                                           The one truth of the
                                                           Whole through the
                                                           Seasons changing
                                                            Colors that I wear
                                                            Upon my heart's
                                                            Sleeve, I'm home
                                                           To Earth Mother’s
                                                           Melodious Life; I
                                                           Sing for the whole

Rolling Thunder And A Gentle Rain

The gentle music flows
from every drop of rain,
as it just lightly taps
against my window pane.

The wind begins to whistle
it's own melodious song,
while the wind-chimes
dance and play along.

The soothing sounds cast open
the windows and doors.
I close my eyes and breathe.
The energy surrounds me as my spirit soars.

I hold out my hand and feel the raindrops
as if they were at play.
My breath now quickened with emotion.
I taste the rain on my lips as I embrace the glorious day.

The curtains blow inward
the breeze itself is warm,
my mind is so peaceful
in the calm before the storm.

The sky's voice trembles
from above a darkening cloud,
as the rolling thunder
speaks it's thoughts aloud.

The thunder awakens
the flash of light.
The part of nature
that sends some to flight.

I chose to embrace the power of nature
in the earth and sky.
And bask in the wonder
that fills my eyes.

The rain seems to be letting up
as it puddles on the green grass,
and the once powerful winds
are now calming down at last.

The gray clouds are parting
and a bright rainbow forms,
proving that something beautiful
can come from such dangerous storms.

My eyes close and I breathe
in the scent of the cleansing rain.
The brilliant hues of the rainbow
dance in my mind where I feel no pain.

The sun peaks from behind the clouds
just to say hi.
I feel the warmth against my face
as I view the beauty with a sigh.

August rains

The steadily falling cold August rains
Continue to pour upon Cheshires lanes;
over flattening fields of soddened wheat,
Soaking the grass, splashing the feet.

Stands the Combine in the shed,
The unripened apples hanging rosy red,
Stands the caped heron all alone;
The glinting eye as cold as stone.

And in amongst the many puddles
We step around like our troubles -
So lurch ahead with our retreat
Like drunken fools in the street.

And through this months darkly frowns
The cleansing downpours wash the towns;
Scrubs the spire from ingrained time,
Absolves the guilt from the crime.

Gentle Summer Rain Art

Featuring:) Giorgio Veneto

She writes about Fall's beauty in the rain
The falling raindrops' dance ascribing thence
Bespoken verse that lightens her refrain
before the time they met - her steps commence.

She listens to the soft and rhythmic thrum,
her love turned to escape and cloudy string
Where nimbus mistletoe fell, tears to become
Their kiss of Autumn was symbolic ring.

The first light cotton mists with summer rays
While skyward cheerful laughs adorn the land,
their ceremonial dance diffuses grays,
affectionate embrace, where dreams expand.

Upon September's sky the raindrops gleam
With half of hidden Sun to laugh and beam.

The Surface of Things

Raindrops don’t know themselves,
only becoming aware
when freed of their teardrop forms;
becoming the surface of things,
tracing the rounded stone,
the languid curve of a blade of grass.

Raindrops caressing the skin,
washing upon our teary faces,
disguising our sadness with their own.

Their rounded bellies reflecting
upside-down worlds,
raindrops, a millionfold,
mirroring each other,
as we are mirrored
in each other’s eyes.

This unified sacrifice,
dangling on precipice of cloud,
as each breaks, as hearts break.

After The Storm

Lightning flashed, blinded my innocent, trusting eyes.
Thunder ravaged my soul, and forced out my cries.

Destructive winds threatened, ripped me all apart.
Raindrops, the tears that ever flooded my heart.

Dark clouds were ever-present, in turbulent air.
Yet, no winds could stir the flowers in my hair.

No longer waiting for that storm to pass the hill.
I left it behind, and walked away by my own will.

A rainbow shined beautifully, yet arched into a frown.
As every now and then, the rain still comes down.

I have stepped right over you, like scattered debris.
As the sun's rays now light down a new path for me.

Rain Drop

It started high up in the clouds,
the moisture balling together until
it became a perfect tear drop hovering
then falling down, gaining speed.

Bumping into others amalgamating,
spinning dropping ever downwards.
Landing with large splash on a leaf
and trickling, running ever down.

Joining still as it flows on
over the edge to the ground.
The rain drop fell into a puddle
and spread out reflecting the sky.

Glistening, sparkling and pulsing
It follows the contours of the land
giving life to all as it passes by,
relentlessly advancing with glee.

Not over yet, it flowed into a lake
now a vast body of water it continues
onwards, ever onwards. One day it
will return to the sky. That's another story.

silver strings play through lightning
in a tuneful duo with rolling thunder sound
the raindrops bounce and jiggle
pounding and bouncing
in a rocking band
petrichor ascends
from a thirsty ground
like music
penetrates into my soul
each sound of nature
breath, listen, live and love it
a sheer joy and morsel of life which nurture

The Raindrop

A solar wind caresses the mighty oceans blue,
Creates the waves, stirs the hearts of the true.
The spirit leaves the sea and floats on high,
To gather the dreams that make poets sigh.
When they reach saturation they at last take flight,
In search of lovers, adrift in the darkest of night.
Each dream a raindrop that freefalls though time,
Each drop a perfection, each dream sublime,
A prism to the soul or perhaps an angel’s tear,
As it floats and drifts, through the atmosphere.
Its colour and shape so clear and fragile,
Yet set on its course despite all the toil.
To replenish the land, refresh us each and all,
Oblivious to their beauty as they tumble freefall.
Each bead of perfection races to shatter,
On the land, its people and all that matter.
To wash the dry soil, to cleanse the city,
To grow the crops, dull the gritty.
Yet fail to heed its might and splendour,
When it can destroy, kill and can render.
There’s sorrow in those raindrops, so to glee,
It’s visible in its beauty-beast so plain to see.
As it gives life as it dies, a true resurrection,
The raindrop can certainly be a cruel perfection.

I'm an 8

I wonder where earth joins the sky, then hear the thunder's battle cry, and ponder how the day rescinds, with words that rattle with the wind A rumbled sound from clouds tinged gray, as treetops tremble, bend and sway A raindrop tumbles to the ground I wander back to shelter found

Rain Dance

We smile, it's raining Jovial in dancing joy Soaked to the skin Warm hearth welcomes us Naked to bare, towelling Goosebumps diminish Pillows, rugs, two lie Face to face, lips now caress We, attraction flows Candles flickering Undulating shadows grace Unification .

Spring Showers

Rain Dancer Days and nights of hibernation within the clapboard walls, winter winds have eased and only the sound of rain peals upon the storm glass panes. The desire to go out, to run, to scream is strong, yet, on the rain taps a tarantella. The parting soil unbound from icy grasp permits the spear of crocus and of daffodil and though the rain drones an accompaniment with the clock sleep does not come. Knots of lassitude untwine as child-like upon the open porch I stand reaching upturned palm into the falling rain watching as it strokes the waking ground. Cleansed are we all by sky and rain and wind rain on, bless the ground, let Spring begin.

Blackbirds In The Rain

blackbirds in the rain walking among the fallen leaves under the old mango tree with dripping leaves bathing the grass below blackbirds diligently lifting the rain soaked fallen leaves peering underneath for insects and worms flushed out by the drizzling rain pausing to gulp one down then scooting off again searching for more sitting under the shed with raindrops playing their music on the galvanised sheet roof with a beat that resonates within my inner being putting me in a trance connecting me to the rain and the puddles on the ground with the raindrops gently tapping the water's surface creating rings that collide with one another disrupting their individual shapes creating a dynamic new pattern reflecting their unity and bubbling with energy in the drizzling rain O what a deep feeling of peacefulness and serenity with the rain the dripping leaves and the puddles serenading my spirit with the eternal song of Nature and merging it into the Unity Of All Things
It was raining today. There was a constant drizzle for hours. I sat in a shed attached to the house, watching the blackbirds in action in the rain, searching for their food. The constant rhythmic sound of the rain on the galvanised sheet roof of the shed and the gentle drama playing out in the backyard with the blackbirds was a spiritual experience for me connecting me with Nature and the unity of all things as mentioned in the last verse. .

I love rain

I love rain

It's a month now into spring
And still the rain pours down
Hey, is it ever going to end
There's many here that frown
They want the sunny weather
That will come soon enought
But right now, I'm enjoying it
Rain, I love the stuff.

Next week we're off on holiday
Now it really does rain there
And I'll love very bit of it
As it soaks up everywhere
To hear it's rhythm on the roof
It makes me feel so grand
Though many think that I am strange
They just don't understand

We don't get much rain in WA
So when it comes, for me
It makes me so excited
I guess it's how i be
So keep that rain a coming down
Let me feel it's soft, wet touch
I don't know what is wrong with me
But I love rain so much.

a brown and curling maple leaf hangs suspended mid-air
in the clearing by the lake, transfixed by the view and kindness
woven within the web, it watches the gentle rain fall

within the transparent lace-like web, it curls inward
its only movement seems a solemn gesture of reverence
with its last bit of I, it sighs, what better place to die

shielded from the gentle rain within the prayerful curl of sable leaf
the spider waits for the Autumn wind to tear them free, to fly..on
to see the conifers green among the forest's rise

brisk winds rent the leave from loom and upward rise the pair
a spider spinning on the sable leave of maple anchored by a strand
as we our spirits torn, are reborn, within the clutch

the center holds sound its claim nature's umbilicus, man
like the spider's leaf born flight, we seek on unknown winds to rise
gentle the breeze or harsh the Fall's feverous gale, still..we rise

Mourning Since Dawn

Why must the mourning come
with every dawn?

The sky is crying again today.
I heard her sobbing
as I laid in bed.
She would calm down
for a little while,
then it would start up again.
Did I do something
to upset Mother Nature?

I watched in solemn silence
all afternoon
as her tears
streak down my window pane.
I wonder what I can possibly do
to comfort her.
There are no tissues large enough
to wipe away
a streaming flood of sorrow.
Maybe this is just Mother Nature's way
of grieving,
and soon it will pass.

The newborn flowers
open their blossoms
to receive and embrace
her gift.
Mother Nature is so beautiful
even when she cries.

Walk Of Love

The dark clouds threatened rain in the late evening sky.
They decided to take an umbrella in order to stay dry.
Their happiness was evident on each others face.
As they eagerly tucked an arm around each others waist.
Their conversation was easy as they matched each others stride.
Their eyes lit with glee from the love they felt inside.
They smiled at each other as the summer rain began to fall.
No where on earth they rather be, a special glance said it all.
They stopped upon a bridge as lightening streaked the sky.
Thunder rumbling loudly made the girl hug tighter her guy.
The rain falling heavily now dancing in the river below.
They shared a tender kiss, neither afraid to let their feelings show.
The summer rainstorm suddenly ended as quickly as it began.
In time for an amazing sunset, the first shared by this woman and man.
A smiling mother nature must have thought what else could she bestow.
For in the sky a crescent moon appeared and a spectacular rainbow.
They both knew that this shared experience was a rare one indeed.
Both realizing their love is magical and that they better take heed.
To let a special love like theirs slip away would be such a crime.
For true love is precious and comes around only once in a lifetime.
`Let us forever continue this "Walk of Love".

More About Rain

The great Serengeti's broad
face lies in the African sun,
dry, weathered, cracked,
thirsty for the season.s tears

Storm clouds gather on her
brow like an old lady's curls
Promises, promising
An empty promise

...The rains are too late
The children of the Serengeti

never to rise again
A desperate waiting fills the

At last, a single drop of rain
falls on the delicate skin of

scorched earth

Another drop, then ten, then
dozens, then hundreds, until
the broad face that is the
Serengeti smears through the
Watering holes fill and
breach, streams and rivers run
like locomotives

Mysterious fish pop out of the
Sweet grasses leap up in the

Suzie Haus

I had a horse named Suzie Haus when I was twenty-one.
I had wanted her since I was seven, the waiting was finally done.
She was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen, in the World up to that day.
And forever in my memory her beauty will continue to stay.
A painted mare with a black mane and tail, then brown over white.
She became the best friend I’d ever have, you might say we were tight.
I fed her every morning, as I talked to her as I cleaned out her stall.
Then every night I did the same, plus cleaned four hooves all.
I brushed her to a shine, I was so proud of her each day.
Then with a saddle, reins, and me…we were on our way.
The stable was near a river, on top a great big bluff.
A dirt road shadowed with trees allowed us to strut our stuff.
As we danced down the road, the lightening bugs rejoiced.
And gentle breezes touched us, giving the leaves their voice.
Then peace would settle round us, as off to trails we would sashay.
This was the stuff that dreams were made of, and I had it every day.
Birds could be heard throughout the woods, the serenade complete.
I saw the river far below, and the sky with clouds of fluff so sweet.
Sometimes we were with others, but most often we were alone.
But it didn’t really matter, for we always knew the way home.
As we turned to go down the bluff, the river urged us to come below.
Deer danced on the land beneath, in the fields a buck and does.
The gentle angle to the floor below, allowed us to mingle in.
They let us close within a few feet, they thought Suzie was a friend.
At the river the blue sky with a reddish sunset had lite everything aglow.
Soon river barges came floating by, and it was quite a show.
Fishermen sat there minding their peace, until the moon began to glow.
The moon twinkling on the river below, was always beautiful and clear.
We’d talk a while, and breathe so deep, the air had a different flavor here.
Once I met a young man looking for inspiration to write a song.
At that time it began to rain so I helped him quickly get where he belonged.
He thanked me profusely, as he made it to his car.
I had helped him save his love, a very beloved old guitar.
From inside his car he played a song he’d written, while he had been there.
I sat upon Suzie beneath a canopy of trees, that sheltered me, I swear.
Finally the rain and song were done, my serenade complete.
Then I rode off back to home, later achieving more memories and gentle treats.

The rythm of rain

the water pounds on the asphalt like a drummer to a drum
and the wind blows in a mobius pitch whistling tunes through its hum

the tin can joins in the whimsical that we lovingly call rain
and the rooftop offers dancing lessons like the taps on the window pane

the trees shake like maracas when the wind starts to sway
and the tires of a car plays symbols as it drives the other way

thunder cues the lighting flash as it rolls across the sky
but if i could hear one last song i would listen to the rain before i die

the soothing peace, that inner sense that is brought on by the rain
releases tension and calms my spirit and helps to keep me sane

Spin of Time

The season is here
On this typical Maiden morn
 Of week days
It’s by this hour
Though slightly late
I rose to take my bath

The ointment was done and gone
What’s more was to
Nestle on the well placed
Soft sofa by the corner
Of my reading room
And to await my breakfast
To be served.

Well has been done to the belly
What’s needed (from me) was
After settling on the round
To dress up and find my way
To the lecture room

Alas an indignation
Though a natural inclination
That crept into the scene
When I was about stepping
Out of the room

Here I picked up the cast
Of the rolling sound
Escorted by the heavy gale
 At the fore
Of my chamber door

The cloud I glimpsed
Beckoned on these
Natural commotions
The rumbled
Of this morn thunderstorm
Took me by surprise
As I felt the tremble of my abode
As though the roof and the wall would cave in

How heavy this morning rush would be?
Certainly it’s heavy and took charge closely
Three hours of the entire day

Blessing showery hours
Wasn’t it?
That would best be related
In the meantime
By the soaking swamp
The well wet weed
The saturated sea pool
And the colorful field
Of bloom cherries and roses

Fickle Sun

Fickle sun with watery eyes
low upon the horizon lies
hanging his boots over the side
of our soggy, rain weary world.
Disrespectful, his pipe smoke curled
around dripping mountains, blue dyed;
fickle sun with watery eyes
low upon the horizon lies.

My cute rain boots are filled with frogs!
The sun should shine! Old pedagogue
hanging his boots over the side,
over dripping mountains, blue dyed;
fickle sun with watery eyes
low upon the horizon lies.

Rain-Scent of Clover

One does not weary of the scent of rain nor mind the weeping after thirst for change The rain at last, that finally tiptoed in We almost missed the laughter, but for leaves That murmured quick surprise along the eaves And tapped with splatters on the window-pane But having heard, we left our cozy place And stepped outside to drink the fragrant air And feel the slope of rain upon our faces We heard the patter of dripping trees Against the chatter of the laughing breeze And watched the rope of silver fall in casement light with balmy incense, carried swiftly in the night We witnessed how it quickly scampered east Without a glance or chance to wipe it's feet Away it flew in fickle flight So brief it came, to quickly cover the leaves and grass, most likely us with showers, sweet, before our sleep and leave the scent, a mist of clover

A Message from West Texas - Recited

She sent me a message while I was walking Mr. Reilly,
She said “Look up, and tell me what you see.”
I thought I would impress her with my poetical ways so I answered,
Bus zooming by…
Brown leaves on the sidewalk ahead,
And a shadowy figure that Reilly and I will soon pass,
The smell of the Indian bakery warming my insides on an autumn evening.
“I love fresh bread,” she said, “What do you hear?”
Crisp slate grey sky,
And the wind gently shaking loose more tan and brown leaves,
And cars sliding by,
Each with its unique sound of tires on asphalt,
 Creating its own steady hush.
She then messaged, “You’re very good at this,
I’m going to read that again!”
but I went on…
A few drops of cool rain,
The rain here, even when it’s pouring,
Seems to be made of a lighter liquid.
It’s not the hard thick drops of a West Texas down pour,
And it’s almost disappointing when
I don’t have the residual layer of dirt on my windshield after the rain,
They say there is thunder in the springtime,
But I suspect they don’t know what real thunder is,
Here in California.
In the West Texas springtime,
When entire sky is filled with all the mountains,
That are missing from the landscape,
You can feel the power and,
The threatening posture of the storm,
But you take up the challenge and face the lightning,
And it fills you with excitement,
And if you have a lover,
It is during these storms that your fantasies come true.
Silver flashes across your lover’s skin,
Passion filled faces caught in the strobe of lightning,
And the pounding rain beating on the windows.
The mix of cold wet air,
And the sweaty heat of deep kisses and breath.
They don’t know what they’re missing here,
In California,
But I do,
And maybe someday I’ll have her.

Cleansing Rain

Come forth O falling watery purifier
Fall down upon me
Cleanse me of my sins
Make pure,make me clean

Wash away my earthly desires
My crimes of the flesh
Douse this burning yet corrupted fire
Wash away the Greed, lust, and all the rest

O Wondrous God
He who resides
In his kingdom in the sky
Please hear my cry

Send forth the rain
Call forth the rain
To rain down on the earth
To wash away all the burdens and the pain

To drown the suffering
The tears and sorrows of yesterday
To call forth
The radiant sun on the next day

Can hear me world
To all men and women
Little boys and girls
The rain has stopped
Becasue it has cleanse the world

Spring Showers

They bring new life,
Revive the old,
Spring showers,
Wash away the snow.
These showers make me happy,
When I am sad,
They water the plants,
Both good and bad.
My favorite thing about them,
Is they hide all my tears,
They wash away the pain,
Of all my years.
I don't like these showers,

Because when it rains,
I have no place to hide.

Tears Of Serious

            Tears Of Serious

Two rivers of silver approach you at a time by crying
Taking on water in rain as they serpentine by around black rocks
And other fears that gather up about their banks
One silver moving wall of water is shallow in its depths
Remains nameless all the same, once again, then evaporates
Hides, mourning on the shore and then it is no more
The other moving liquid body flows by, goes by Serious
It turns in pain, winds around the landscape meanderings
Serpentines, absorbing rain and young children to its depths
No one knows why the river runs so long so deep
But there are tears in it originating from old faces
Forming on old mountains as they trickle down, cascading
Tears of Serious are created from many deaths
Now in her depths

Have You Ever?

Have you ever smelled the rain as a storm was getting near

then sat and watched as clouds began to appear

Have you ever heard the sounds of Gods thunderous roar

and looked to see his light along the shore

Have you ever listened to the rain when it starts pouring down feeling the flow of it
before it touches ground

Have you ever caught a breeze upon your face and somehow you new it was Our
Father's Embrace

Have you ever seen God's splendor after a storm was done when his heavens
open up and he shows his brilliant sun

Have you ever taken notice as the clouds start to divide and you see the rays of
sunshine peak over the sky

Have you ever seen his colors of grays, gold, purple and pink and wonder to
yourself how excellent God thinks

Have you ever looked at his miraculous sky when it shines so big and bright with
silhouettes of shadows beaming through the light

Have you ever seen a rainbow far above so high it goes from one end to the other
along his great big sky

Have you ever wondered how his sunlight rolls away and how his darkness
appears without dismay

Have you ever seen his display of wonders when you look into the night

and appreciated his stars above along with his moonlight

Have you ever imagined why God gave us these effects

I think it is to remind us that he deserves all respect

I wonder

The cloud talk
There goes the thunder
We take a little walk
It will fall under
We run, we fear, we hide
And I wonder
There goes the hill
An the seed do grow
the rain drop
here goes the crop
The trees stand still
Will I ponder?
Make haste tis the rain
Tis the rain that fall beyond
And I wonder
and just as I step out the door someone ask me were is the thunder?

' Rain, Fire, Ice and Breeze '

I Watched A Man, Named, ‘ Rain ‘
Pounding Across The Plains
Running with Cascading Joy
Like a Wet, Happy, Little Boy …

I Found A Man, Named, ‘ Fire ‘
Blaze in Life, A Lightning Desire
His Bold Passion – Consuming Power
Sent Smoke Signals, to My Tower

I Observed A Man, Named, ‘ Ice ‘
Tho’ Frost-Natured, He Did Entice
‘ … Come Hold Me, if You Dare …
And Find Out, if Cold-Can-Care …’

… I Beheld A Man, Named, ‘ Breeze ‘
And Begged Him, ‘Touch Me Please …
Gentle, like a Lover’s Kiss
Whisper to Me, Things I Wished…’

… and Sitting Content, on This Hillside
Listen Now… as I Confide …
‘ Rain and Fire … Ice and Breeze ’
Don’t You Know … You Are All Of These . . .

Rain Drops

Have you ever listen to the sounds of rain ,
As it pitter patters against your window pain?
The sound is like music and it is so sweet,
As it gathers in a puddle around your feet.

Rain coat and boots is what you need to wear,
To keep the rain out,and stay dry under there.
Without little rain drops, where would we be?
All dried up and blowing in the breeze.

Flowers need rain drops as much as the sun,
They spread thier little leaves to catch every one.
Into the ground the little rain drops do go ,
To help the roots to get strong and grow.

Rain drops make a pond where fish can swim,
Without the water we would not have them.
To watch them swin around here and there,
Makes one wonder how they got there.

The oceans are vast ,with water everywhere,
But without that first drop of water ,the land would be bare.
There would be no trees ,no brush , no grass,
If the rain drops stoped falling, nothing would last.

The next time your out walking and it starts to rain,
Remember the little rain drops will cause you no pain.
Hold out your hand and you will see,
Little rain drops were sent from heaven for you and for me.

Rain Whispers

   Rain Whispers

Tender and fragrant
the tiny drops of rain feel feather soft
as they sprinkle my upturned face
the roar of the tide, somehow dimmed
as the rain on the beach whispers

Walking through the mists of an early morning fog
delicate wisps of icy tendrils lace between my ankles
the sand gives way to my footsteps
the ocean washes them away
all thoughts wash out to sea
feeling small,

tender and fragrant
the tiny drops feel feather soft
as they sprinkle my upturned face...
and the rain.....whispers

The Rain

Rain, like angry teardrops, forges rivulets down the window pane
while threatening gray clouds thunder above,
fat with their delivery

Flickering power dances with the lightning in a contest of shadows
as heavy pressure and dampness seep into the marrow
of my fragile frame

Frantic winds change the relentless direction of the deluge as
miniature rivers form, washing away the residue of the atmosphere
before the storm

Darkness comes, and the bitter intensity becomes palpable
Weary windows shudder in their frames as whispering howls
sneak through timeworn crevices

Daunting years of collective conscience suggest a safe place to hide,
as all of the percipient creatures on the other side of the pane
have already attained

But, numbed by the continuous oblivious walk of humanity, I stay
Even though leaning against the moaning glass is not safe, I stay
… watch the rain.

Folk Song of India Farmer, Clouds, Rains and Trees

A Folk Song of India My Video Song is also on You Tube Background Note: Its a story of a worried Farmer as his fields were dry because of no rains & the season of planting Rice was passing fast. His eyes were full of tears while thinking, what he would eat & earn if he fails to plant the Rice saplings without good Rains in his fields. The song conveys feelings of an Indian farmer, who often face such situations due to lack of rains. Rains felt pity & flooded his fields or his love for Trees & Nature. Folk Song of India- Farmer, Clouds, Rains and Trees The Farmer was thinking, While sitting near his fields, How, he would plant, The saplings of Dhaan ( Rice). The clouds keep coming, But fly away and vanish soon, There are hardly few trees in the forest, Who can call and attract the clouds. To tell the clouds, The miseries of the farmer, As, clouds never overlook, The wishes of their beloved trees. But the trees could not convey and tell, The tortures and pains, they have suffered, One by one they have been cut and burned, By none other than their own nursing Man. Because of this only , The clouds often do not come, And run away without showering, When they see such humans. The Farmer was thinking, While sitting near his fields, How without rains he would plant, The saplings of Dhaan ( Rice). But that old farmer, Had planted many many trees, Thinking that the clouds, Came down on the ground. The eyes of the old farmer, Were wet and restless, Tears were appearing and were, Coming out, every now and then. The clouds hovering on the fields, Saw tears in his eyes, While wiping his tears, The clouds too began to weep. Then, it began to rain all over, And the fields got flooded soon, The old farmer raised his head, And saw towards the sky. After seeing all around, The fields flooded with water, The farmer with gratitude, Again & again touched the Rain clouds. Tears started flowing from his eyes, With happiness, And the clouds again showered more rains, To wipe the tears from the eyes of the old farmer. Then the time came to plant, The saplings of Dhaan (Rice), Without forests and their darling trees, Clouds hardly showers their love drops. The Farmer was thinking, While sitting near the fields, He would again plant, Many more and more tree this time. After the rain

After the rain

Velvet green with mauve and yellow
Touches blue sky overhead
I walk along this wetland trail
With fairy feathers in my tread
Green parrots in their crazy flight
Rise and fall above the trees
Who’s branches dance in splendid rhythm
As they ride upon the breeze

The ground still moist from yesterday
When the rain came falling down
It feels all kind of downy soft
And looks so very damp and brown
As sweet brown doves search for a feed
And a raven high above
Gives out a call of loneliness
In a voice brim filled with love

The lake it glimmers sheeny, shiny
As the sun upon it beams
It sings a song of sanctity
That fills my heart with lovely dreams
And whispers words of mystery
That seep into my peaceful soul
As I walk in morning silence
Letting nature make me whole.

Rainbows are for hope.

Raindrops splatter 'gainst my window
Music from the sky;
Each crystal drop a mellow bell
A gentle melody to tell
me ...that your love is mine.

 Sunlight scatters thru my window
Warm touches sent to me
Each photon beam a kiss from you
Sent to me across the blue...
 A comfort wished here tenderly.

 April winds caress my window
 Breath from clouds above;
Daring me to share the passion,
Give my heart in wild abandon,
 Drinking deeply of your love.

 Rainbows Bless my Open window
Sun-drops & rain combined.
The ends connecting us together
Distances no longer matter...
Out hearts are intertwined.

Raindrops Version One

light and pure as petals
echo sweet, seraphic music

By Morgan Mise
Written January 22, 2013

Details | Verse | |

Standing out in a field alone, a little white flower named Daisy longed for someone to share her world.
One day a blue flower named Bachelor Button entered her world they became friends.
She knew by his name that he was not the propagating kind, but that didn’t stop their relationship she called him BB short for best bud.
The seasons of Spring & Summer they enjoyed the sun, laughed in the rain and held on fast in the Fall.
Winter came it was long and hard they were both covered in a blanket of snow, not knowing whether they would ever see each other again or even survive .The snow fell then came the ice, this went on for months.

The Sun shone brightly the first day of spring. A few days later warmth of the sun melted the snow, Daisy popped up .
I’ve been waiting days for you to come out, said BB, they both chanted hooray!
The snow was completely gone in a few days, the birds started building their nests , bugs were crawling around ,butterflies began to visit the two flowers. I wish there were more of us Daisy said, to BB.

They laughed as the sun and wind blew through their leaves. Then it started the sun and rain took turns until one morning the air & field was filled with the smell of flowers.
Daisy and BB looked at each other and asked what kind of flowers are these ? they’re not white like daisies they’re not blue like bachelor buttons. They did not know the birds and bugs carried the seeds from the two of them and the caterpillars buried them under the soil.
The seeds from the new flowers were then carried by the winds many miles away, they landed in fertilized gardens and flourished, although they faced danger everyday.
as they were called WEEDS ..
The Gardener pulls weeds out of the garden so they don’t choke the flowers, which cost a lot of money and require lots of maintenance.

However there was a Gardener who saw her friends spending hours weeding their garden , that they didn’t have enough time to admire and enjoy the labors of their love
So she set out to give a home to all the weeds ,she provided a place where they could fit in and multiply, they required no maintenance, rain provides their water .

The best part of all is their beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Ask my granddaughter-- What are those flowers in the garden ?
She will answer "WILDFLOWERS " their parents were Daisy and BB

Dark Grey Skies

Thick rain soaked clouds came floating by on sullen grey skies
Branches swayed and leaves waved, tied
In unison with the whipping wind
The rains came soft and gentle ,one by one, floating
among an endless series of soft humid waves
Puffs of dust kick up as rain hits the ground ,
the enticing smell of the brown clean earth pervades all around
The ponds break into endless circles of tiny drops
Sliding down branches , dripping from leaves, running down the darkened bark, plopping
In the silent air ,Soaking the ground into soft muddy earth, healing cracks, soft like dew
the rains speak their true voice and intent without a clue
becoming pounding and insistent ,angry and relentless, as one by one they beat the ground
And the cycle comes full circle ,around and around

Cool air from atop the sky filters down through hot steamy mist
wind driven clouds form funny ominous shapes in the sky
Bending and twisting to keep up with their fierce and relentless brother
Throwing countless drops down onto the clean brown earth
The Angry winds and warm drops count their times to hit the ground
Covering forest and field alike taming the long forgotten dust
that became the earth following the season of drought
Lightning burns across the sky and crashes among the giant embers standing wet, black and gleaming
Stark and ancient they stand tall and straight , silhouetted against the angry sky
The rain comes in sheets of grey , pouring out of the heavens
In a thunderous wave that threatened to sweep clean the skies

The Rain on My Glasses

The rain on my glasses
I see it, so magnified
Each droplet, a crystal
Upon the wall of my mind,
On every lens,
A waterfall, a river,
A stream
In the rear, I stand
As if in a marvelous dream.

The rain on my glasses
I see it, so magnified
Each droplet,
A spring inundating
The arid ground of my mind
Through every lens,
A world drenched, colored,
In the rear, I stand
As if I have just begun to feel.

Summer Rain

Standing on the sidewalk,
Underneath the trees,
My ears can hear it talk,
Murmuring with the breeze,
Every drop hits the street,
Running in it's own way,

Raining down it's own beat,
A song it just wants to play,
I can feel their dancing feet,
Near mine on a summer day.

My First Love: The Rain

The smell of rain coming in the air is my favorite.
It’s not an easy sent to pick out.
Most people think the smell of rain is wet asphalt.
But it’s not.
It has a fresh sent, there is a beauty in its smell.
Like a new start.
A redo on what’s been done wrong.
Such a crisp sent that brushes my nose.
Its familiarity is calming to me.
I know that in those moments before the first rains of the season, there is an exciting fresh change in the air.
Everything will be alright.
There is nothing more I love than the smell of freshly fallen rain.
I love the rain with all my soul.
It is a dear friend to me.
Has been my whole life.
It’s the sign of the oncoming season of love joy and excitement.
Who can’t help but love the rain when they know what it has to offer them?
When I was a little girl I remember waking up in the middle of the night, no matter what the time was and being able to smell that rain coming.
I would run outside (usually barefoot) and wait for it to fall.
With each drop that came to fall my excitement would grow more.
I remember laughing with joy and dancing in the rain in my front yard.
I would stay out there until my parents would come yell at me to get back inside.
They would seem upset but after so many times of finding me doing this, I knew they found some joy in my craziness.
I still wake up when I smell the first rains coming.
No matter what time.
Now I usually grab a blanket and sit out on the front porch with a cup of tea and just watch it fall.
It looks like a soft loving hand caressing the world around me.
Nothing is more comforting than that.
I truly have a passion for the rain.
It’s one of the world’s greatest beauties.
Rain, Rain, please come again.

How much stark evidence, how many proofs
will be dismissed before conceit it fails;
and of His mercy decide to avail
this presumptuous species from faith aloof.
Flashbang rumble! A thousand unseen hoofs
galloped overhead, as clattering hail
mass-pogoed as if emptied from some vast pail
upon unsuspecting Tarmac and roofs.

Mercy, I swear I heard the atoms split
from molecules to create ozone
as, outside close nearby the lightning hit;
its acrid tang prevalent in a home,
which for a charged instant that bolt lit:
thrilling spectator as he watched alone.

The rains are back

The rains are back

The rains are back again
Oh it’s so wonderful
There’s not been rain for a long time now
Hey man, it’s really cool
To hear that thunder in the sky
And watch the lightning too
Hey ho, the rains are back again
It’s great I’m telling you.

No need to water, not today
The rain is pouring down
Some folk they really hate this rain
But it don’t make me frown
To hear it’s rhythm on my roof
Oh my, such sweet elation
The rains they’re back with us once more
No call for consternation.

The rains are back again
Oh, I just want to dance
I want to sing a merry song
My life this does enhance
It’s wonderful, it’s beautiful
The rains are back again
So much joy, it fills my heart
I’m like a man insane.

The storm

The storm

The sky above was filled right up
With big, black, monstrous clouds
The thunder hit the blackened skies
His voice so very loud
Forked all across the morning skies
Fiery fingers streak on out
Then the thunder rumbles loud and strong
And rain is all about

Oh how that rain came teeming down
Just like it’s on a mission
To wash away the whole damned earth
As with her quiet precision
Mother Nature puts the pressure on
To warn us human souls
Of the damage she could do
With the power in her role

The rain, It pours down onto me
But I don’t feel a thing
I’m covered by my wetland gear
And my heart begins to sing
For me, I love these thunder storms
With all their mighty power
Though some on seeing all this drama
Would hide away and cower.

From The National Poet Of Slovenia In A Language People Understand - THE RUINS OF THE ANCIEN REGIME

Farewell, then, AUKN boss,
The next this year makes three.
By the time they find a substitute,
Slovenes will be at sea.

He tried to cover his behind;
AUKN boss of bosses,
As every week, balances grew bleak:
He weighed merits and losses.

With all this he'd no time to eat,
And round and round he flew.
And now he's split in a hissy-fit;
So helmsman, too-de-loo!

Day after day, day after day,
He drifted on the ocean;
Guano-vernment rained on his ship
Their suggestions for promotion.

Cousins, cousins, everywhere,
Corporate boards crosslink;
Cousins, cousins, everywhere,
Let's take you for a drink.

Accountants talking rot: O Christ!
Missions, visions - oh please!
Yea, slimy characters need legs
And slimy policies.

So has he done an hellish thing?
Not hired who? We dunno:
Was it absurd, to have a separate curd
From the whey Slovenia owes?
This wretch won't play, after 60 days;
Pissflaps, he'll have to go!

God help ya, gospod Bencina
From the fiends, that plague us thus! -
It's time to go — shot like cross-bow,
The AUKN boss.

Ah! walk-out day! what evil looks
Had I from Ernst and Young!
Who's at a loss? AUKN's boss
Wouldn't take a bung?

"You'll be" quoth one, "abolished - no
Stigma to double-cross."
He chose to go - why? We don't know:
Harmless AUKN boss.

Re-reading the original gave me a great idea for dinner until I realised all the storks have all flapped off to Africa for the winter. Pity, as I have some ancient marinade from Tuš. Like the subject of the poem, I didn't have the stamina for a Coleridge-length effort.

The National Poet Of Slovenia In A Language People Understand interprets important Slovenian affairs for the non-Slovene speaking world.

Bleak blacken storm clouds fast approaching, Nature is angrily panting and fuming. Self-righteously and passionately enraged, The growing tempest now dominates center stage. Dark and moody quite Machiavellian, Gusty strong winds start blasting in open rebellion; And no sane human being dares to challenge this wrathful defiant hellion.
As furious Thor wields mighty Mjölnir, his fearsome hammer, Heat and cold energies collide in a turbulent manner. Amid roaring thunder, vivid silver streaks of lightning, and heavy precipitation, Terrified, we cautiously peep through the shutters in utter fascination; As winds smash and torrential rains pour, we stare at the frenzied destruction. The storm has effortlessly uprooted skyscraper trees, Vengefully knocking towering buildings down to their very knees.
What an awful frightening sight! When storms rage with all their might, Only Noah’s Ark would survive such a devastating plight. Like a snail, time moves slowly when storms are around, Intent on wreaking havoc, they will firmly stand their ground. But once nature’s energies and pent-up anger thankfully subsides, Storms will pass, and at last, we can safely venture outside.

The Storm

And the storm calls to me in ways you'll never understand
A gentle call that urges my soul forth
The lighting guiding a path for my feet to walk
Between the stones and ash of all that once was
I stand in the echoing silence of the rain
It drops down upon my skin like the blessing waters of heaven
Soothing me, lifting the weight from my body
I feel at once as if I am home
Standing amid two dimensions
Caught between two skies - here and there
The night wraping around me in warmth
The gentle wind lifting me off my feet
Drops from the clouded moon washing away my body
and I am left just a soul, an essence
The storm calls me forth from beneath my roof
Beckoning me into its depth
I stand among the reeds in the basin
They dance and sway as if welcoming me
And I sway with them back
Caught up in the power that charges the air
That threatens to sweep me away
If the ground will just loosen its hold
The thunder rumbles a low welcoming growl
And I get pleasently lost within it
I am so small compared to its vastness
I close my eyes and succumb to the skies wishes
Rising higher until my feet no longer touch the ground
My fingertips touch the liquid color of the stars
A sigh drifts from my lips
There is no need of thought to stay afloat
There is no demand to breathe in air
No crushing weight upon my chest
As my lungs struggle to survive
There are no struggles here
I make my bed on blackened clouds
And give in to the call
The storm has claimed me as its own
It was such a struggle to stay upon the ground
When the storm would call me home

The Farmer and The Cowboy / Deuteronomy 11:13

The Farmer woke,
Before break of day,
And for a little rain did pray.
Then hitched his team,
And plowed the land,
Given him by the Master’s hand.
The Cowboy awoke,
And a prayer he sighed,
“Please give us rain, for the prairie is dry.”
Then in the heat,
He did rope and brand,
The cattle given him by the Master’s hand.
At night, before sleep,
The Farmer read,
The words from the Bible that God had said,
“If you’ll keep my Commandments,
In it’s season I’ll make it rain,
And you shall eat,
And your land shall fill with grain.”
The Cowboy fell asleep remembering,
A verse his Ma had read,
A promise God made and the words he said,
“Love and serve the Lord God,
And it shall come to pass,
That I shall make it rain,
And for the cattle, there shall be grass.”
So each resolved, in his own way,
To be a better man,
And follow closely the Commandments,
And there-fore save the land.
And though they never met,
They prayed for the same thing,
And watched the sky for the clouds,
And the rain that they would bring.
And though it was long in coming,
The drops fell upon the land,
And revived and refreshed these special places,
Given by the Master’s hand.
The Farmer and the Cowboy,
Each prayed for the land of which they were fond,
And through their belief, they saved the Earth,
Through the Lord’s Common Bond.

After midnight
With preconceived plans
Across the Caribbean Sea
Suddenly turning west
Making a beeline
To British Honduras
In Central America

It foiled expectations
That it would arrive
At seven the next morning

Made a surprise visit
Six hours earlier
Like the Gestapo
The Secret Police

While people were
Least prepared
Of better things.

It attacked
Ignoring neighboring

As if
Remotely controlled
By some
Vengeful fanatic
At 150 miles per hour
And more
The coastline

The Jewel

People still ’memba
How in ’61

It wrecked havoc
In Dangriga
Belize City
San Pedro
Cay Caulker
Among others
As it
Their valuables
Like a Repo Man
Dispossess them
Of their
Treasured belongings

Within the
Make-belief safety
Of its eye
Poor people
Thinking it was over
Sought their fortunes
On the beaches
In the shops
In others’ property
When Hattie
On a round trip ticket
Came back hurriedly
And with
More gusto
Lashed out
As a category five
To teach them a lesson

And dignity.

In the end
One third of the coast
Was devastated

One third
Another third
With 264 dead
And millions
Of dollars lost
The place lay wasted

And victims
Wallowed in its wake.

As it distanced itself
Its handiwork
And Observed

With a smirk
Its power

Woman and child
It grinned
In satisfaction
At its exploits
And its supernatural supremacy
To shape destiny
And vanquish the vulnerable

A boy child stands behind the window pane
the lightning's spectacular and quite insane
Frozen in fascination he can't think to hide
this thunder rock and roll is an E class ride

Vivid memories that will never let him go
anticipating storms all the more as he grows
Couldn't help track every tornado or flood
he began to realize weather was in his blood

Became a meteorologist, climbed the tree
now up all night warning folks watching TV
His childlike fascination is just as vivid today
when thunder and lightning dance and play

Night Thunder

The clouds gave a feeling of doom.
I could see the lightning hit the ground.
The earth shook with every loud boom.

The rain poured down like the sky was weeping.
The once dry and cracked ground was now muddy.
I knew in my heart this was no night for sleeping.

My young heart pounded as the storm drew nearer.
I just stood on the porch watching and waiting.
Every noise in the dark filled me with terror.

Then finally, at dawn, the storm died down.
The hard rain was now just a drizzle.
I watched the sun come up in my old night gown.

Birds came out and began to sing.
Their beautiful tunes filled the air.
For this radiant morning I thank the King.

Another day done

Another day done

In this soft, pregnant silence
I sit drinking beer
As river flows gently
It’s beautiful here!
The sun, making pictures
Brings sweetness to eye
I sit here just watching
As day passes by.

Those trees over yonder
Bring joy to my soul
As the breeze gets them waving
To dance is their role!
My heart feels so easy
As the grass, velvet green
Feels the soft touch of dew drops
On this dusk so serene.

The sky‘s all hung over
With dark, weary clouds
They might soon be bursting
Cause the thunder so loud
Gives cry to Gods power
In his home, far away
On this soft tender dusk
Of a wonderful day

Reminiscing the Scent of Rain

There’s a certain force of the rain that flows That brings the scent to the forefront and grows On concrete the fragrance is a fresh grey Dull way to bring a stonewash smell to play It only comes when it first starts to rain Smell that pleases the senses without pain Not hot, just a cool rain will bring it up No scent can compare to this smell close-up At times it’s pungent, a fresh dirty smell Lifting the nose beyond where one does dwell Aroma like floating grainy gruffness Gnawing the insides bringing a roughness The fragrance wafts at the start of the rain Marking the scent of stone with water drain

who will care to bear the bloom?
bracing it's petal scented swells..

liquid drops drumbeats
it's fall drench the trees and soil
newly bath earth..

The Wonder Of Nature

Nature is a miracle
That opens up your heart to fill
It with the wonder that you see
In all of its scenes and beauty
Green grass fills the world so wide
From every land and mountainside
Vibrant and looking so new
When the light hits the morning dew
Trees of colored leaves galore
Growing like never before
Orange, yellow, even red
What a gorgeous branch filled spread
Flowers smelling so divine
Bees get drunk on honey "wine"
Petals start to bloom with ease
Colored rainbows for all to see
Rain connects all three of these
Nourishment to never cease
Droplets of care helping grow
Exciting scenes that we all know
Covering the earth with things
That only true nature can bring

I sense your touch in the morning breeze
A hand so soft knows how to please
I'll lay here awhile, eyes closed I smile
I cherish your gentle, subtle style

I believe in you
I know you're there
Our connection felt
You're wings on air
But there's no doubt
Heaven sent
Moving in and out

You chase the clouds so that I can see
The bright sun and all of earth's majesty
Then you bring the rain so life can grow
The rainbow comes.. wow, what a show

I believe in you
I know you're there
Our connection felt
You're wings on air
But there's no doubt
Heaven sent
Moving in and out

Oh wind and love I never knew
That you are twins but it's so true

I believe in you
I know you're there
Our connection felt
You're wings on air
But there's no doubt
Heaven sent
Moving in and out

Beside me

The night of the fallen, the fall in the deep
I wake up exploring my thoughts in my sleep
I shake up believing it all was a game
Taking me under an ocean of rain

You stand there beside me to ease up the pain
Without you it's all just adventure to gain
A proud face- the star leading me on my path
Shining, to give me the strength of your light

In order are finally all priorities set
Happiness, joy from the world to get
Go, fight, become whoever you want,
Your dreams are all yet to be found...

The last tree

A pretty oak sits outside my window pane in the snow and in the rain
Covered with life, outside the balcony fifty steps away
Decorating the tree with flashes of red, black, grey, yellow and white,
are his friends the cardinals , squirrels , chickadees and the tufted titmice
They sing , chirp, and chatter in harmony of song
As the seasons pass, we live thru heat, drought , cold and rain all year long
I keep my feeder close at hand and watch as they load up in waves of two and three
to make their run at the seeds and grain
The leaves are green now and vibrant with life, in the fall the acorns grow and my tree stands tall
At winter they covet the warmth and provide a shelter for the thick furred grey squirrels
A lovely little hole in the crook of the branch big enough for two to snuggle and borough
They race down these pathways in the sky, playful as skilled acrobats
October mornings the leaves are falling , making noisy whispering sounds
the first rays of sun turn frost into a million twinkling stars on the ground
The two winged take refuge in their nest , built carefully for warmth and rest
To nurse and raise their young , making them fit for another generation of the best
The seasons flow as a quiet pond and like our beautiful life
everything is real with very little strife
Among the colorful citizens of this merry place I give life in equal exchange
for joy and a chance To sit and watch my friends as I grow old and enjoy life in the sun
But life changes, very unfair , and I am denied my playground in the sky
one day some men came and cut all the beauty down
Now its gone all butchered and bare nothing left but a big hole in the ground

Never Ending Circle

Upon the icy back of winter she rides unnoticed, like your shadow in midday sunlight
She bides her time while secretly infusing warmth into the frozen earth below. Like a Nursemaid she feeds and nurture off springs. Shhh...hear the stirrings of the new growth awakening!

the warm earth parts
for the tulips's first leaf --
gentle rain

Quietly, gentle rain and warm sunrays twinning, absorb, sustain and enhance life. Soft mist is disperse in midair, cascading gently, they land like crystal dew drops on lush green grass. Soon, the rabbit and hare in search of food and water will run through these fields assured that the never ending circle of life will continue.

young ones thirsting
Sip soft crystal dew drops--
Blooming smiles

The Earth dry and bare; waiting eagerly for the drops of care;

Caught in the hot, steaming summer’s snare;

The flowers and creepers decorating window sills; all look desolate and ill;

As the nature withers away in the sun’s merciless glare.

The men and the wives; the kids and the wild;

All are enduring the summer’s waterless exile;

They are waiting for the rain; to relieve them of the heat pain;

And of that life which has become a sweaty turmoil.

The wind strong and gusty; makes the roads yellow and dusty;

And the air around becomes suffocating and musty;

The birds forget to sing; their lilting, musical thing;

Even as the tree leaves wristle and make noise so husky.

Then come the Monsoon showers; falling first on boughs and flowers;

Making the trees and plants glisten and glower;

So the monsoon comes in grace; driving away summer’s trace;

Lashing at window-panes with its all-reigning power.

As the monsoon drives away the summer heat; with its raining rhythm off-beat;

And the flower buds open up to return it’s greet;

And as the water seeps in soil; a refreshing fragrance arise;

While the rain continuous to cool down hot gardens and streets.

The Earth grows green; and water droplets gleam;

On the smooth, waxy surfaces of the leaves;

Everywhere the flowers grow; in pink, red, white or yellow;

While buds make their way blushingly between tendrils.

 The wet and soft soil; now grows fertile;

And tender green plantlets push through the Earth in style;

Through soil the tiny saplings peep; as their sown seeds begin to reap;

And the plants and crops shake off the Earth’s temporary curse sterile.

As the raindrops go pitter-patter; water in puddles begins to gather;

And the little birds begin to chirp, twitter and chatter;

The insects begin to hum along; their irritating and happy song;

While due to rain and wind the roofs on houses begin to chatter.

As the showers for some moments cease; after giving Earth life’s new lease;

And the pitter-patter of rain is gently appeased;

The sun coyly shines; a cloud it half hides behind;

While the fluffy clouds move along with the cool breeze.

The fields now green and bright; are an artist’s sheer delight;

Pleasing to the senses of smell and sight;

The fresh air so sweet to breathe; that with pleasure the body writhes;

In the newly born rainy sunlight.

But this sunlight so quickly goes; as thunderstorms blow to and fro;

And Earth engulfs in darkness that now grows;

The wind rises and howls; with a voice that trembles all souls;

And day and night this gale roars.

The trees in fear tremble and shake; as leaves, twigs and branches break;

And the life of these trees is put up at stake;

Birds in nests cower with fright; and due to cold shiver with all their might;

And live in fearful anticipation of what else the storm may rake.

The monsoon now shows its ugly face; gone are its days of grace;

Rainy calamities take its place;

Cyclones and floods destruct worldwide; the raging sea throws up its tide;

“Nature reigns supreme”, we are forced to say.

Same is the life of man; may he do what he can;

But destiny will always play a hand;

What all will man control? So he should let destiny play its role;

And enjoy life and act as the situation will demand.

Somedays will shine the sun; those days life will be fun;

And work will be successful how much ever it’s done;

Somedays by the fun you will tire; and will long to get back into the attire;

Of normal life, however boring or glum.

Sometimes hope will come out; like a tiny plant sprouts;

And will remove from your mind every shade of doubt;

It will be a bright, hopeful ray; but for long it may not stay;

So we must make most of it when hope sprouts.

Just as the shower of joy; after summer comes out shy;

So shower of success will come when you have almost given up the try;

It will wash away your helpless sigh; and will give you a new will to try;

Which will help you succeed by-and-by.

Just as the sun goes behind the cloud; when thunder is heard aloud;

And darkness suddenly falls on Earth all around;

So also failure will touch you once; its upto you to prevent its repeated occurrence;

Or due to failure remain depression bound.

Sometimes through demotivation you will go; sometimes loads of success you'll know;

For we need all types of experience to make us grow;

Like some days it is wet; some days the sun for long doesn’t set;

But then it needs both the rain and the sun to make a RAINBOW…

The Rain and Wind

The wind blew events all over the place.
Intense emotions and it gave chase.
Lightning lighting to show us the sky.
People try to sleep and not cry.
Wisping by the wind keeps us awake.
The time trying to sleep the storms take.
Chills in everyone gives all shiver.
The clouds surrounded by moonlight is silver.
Heavenly prayers that the rain will stop.
The flood stopped a car the person in it was a cop.
People have seen such devastation.
The road that people made was week in creation.
Rivers near by was over flowing.
Trees that were there was not showing.
By the hour it claimed many.
My father woke up and did not see any.
Floating by was a boat.
Keeping people above water and a float.
My father kept a canoe.
That some day we would use it, that he knew.
Time to paddle up and down the street.
The rain water kept getting on our seat.
It was so dark after the moon was behind the cloud.
Still the noise of thunder still covered the ears loud.
The smell of moist water never seem to go away.
My brothers seem to still sleep anyway.
My head was bobbing up and down.
I was so tired that I could not hear a sound.
The wind blew back and fourth.
It seems that my mom and dad paddle their worth.
Till all the people we saw with grace.
Help us out with embrace.
The time was so late at night.
Everyone was so sleepy and losing sight.
The fight with the weather was so hectic.
The feelings of energy was electric.
Losing to such natural disaster is hard to understand.
When people working hard to block the river with bags of sand.
With hard workers like my mom and dad.
They make things happen that is not bad.
Rough with weather they experience more than ever.
Leaders they are they are very clever.
From the night light of street lights to the morning glow.
The wind did not stop so.
Bringing in more clouds that ill.
The people who were still tired still had will.
The rush of water and waves blasting push the wall side.
Pushing and the force brought water inside.
The battle of our hour was getting long.
Backup people came to aid us was strong.
Rested they were to keep everyone with hope.
The people stopped the water with the strength of rope.
Heavy rain and loss of homes bring people together.
It is kind of sad that this was the only time to gather.
Chaos comes happiness how true.
This is why we are human that gives us a clue.
It is our nature to keep rain falling.
To know when it is time for our calling.
The winds bring such pain and sorrow.
That is why rain sometimes fallow.

The rains are here

The rains are here

The rains are here at last
Incredible this feeling
Hearing the rhythm of the rain
The silence comes a stealing
As I feel the crisp, sweet freshness
That be flowing in the air
The whole wide world feels so alive
Without no worry or cares

The parrots come a calling
To have their late days feed
Seed fills the bowl that’s hanging there
To aid their daily needs
Their shrieking cries fill all the air
Neath those dark and sombre clouds
They join in with the rhythmic rain
In a symphony so loud.

It’s a delicious feeling
Just sitting by my window
Seeing rain come pouring down
And feeling that sweet glow
That always comes with natures beauty
And makes my heart feel wild
The mystic seems to beckon me
Awakening the child.

Nature's Gift

Nature's Gift

High above the mighty and tall oaks,
the clouds often dance all day
The sun hides above Nature's cloak
as mere mortals work and play

Down below a forest deep in snow
wild critters scurry in frenzy need
Gathering food with offspring in tow
first warm day to play and feed

Soon comes a pouring cold , hard rain
fruits from the dancing clouds above
Nature does it's duty timely yet again
as the world yields it's beauty and love!

Robert L. 05-17-2014

Pouring , hard rain here today.
As I ponder the peacefulness of my favorite spot in the
deep woods and the critters I no longer seek to slay!

Birth of a Poet

The animals know better than us. The rain has never poured so loudly in a key so soft.
To the front, the sailing of city buses and mini vans cruising across in this weather makes the water underneath their tires sound like the street is crying out for 5 more minutes of sleep. Up above, the trees are protecting a nest of baby blue jays before they get washed away by the silence of their mother not being there. But with sky blue young spirits, and small empty stomachs, they keep hope alive in the fact that even children know storms and struggles don’t last forever.
Below the trees, nature has found a name to call it’s own. From the hole dug by the little boy next door, a family of three foxes have named human nature sanctuary, and burrowed their problems into the sediment to rest for a while.
To the side of the hole, a flock of ducks are swimming in the water with eyes open wide enough to where you can see their loyalty to love one another rushes wild.
To the right of the pond, caged up in a man made blanket, and lost in his own mind, is the boy. From what he remembers, last night was like a train accident; A head on collision of two people he could’ve sworn he saw holding hands just the other day. He hears the sound of plates shattering in C-minor, and the chorus of words that his parents screamed in F-sharp, so he imprisoned himself in his own bed sheets, accompanied by the courageous corduroy bear who he swears keeps hearing whisper “everything will be okay.”
It’s raining outside, and the crescendos of screams have been silenced by it’s peaceful security.
The boy, sleeps soundly now. The rain has protected his ears, and guarded his heart from being washed away by all of his nightmares.
He doesn’t care whether he wakes up. The baby blue jay, the resourceful fox and the brave little duck are all he wants to keep dreaming about.
Maybe he’ll run away into the rain? Or maybe into the arms if his mother?, whom he prays he can still recognize. To the left of his bed, he picked up the blank page of his coloring book and a crayon, and became a life long poet in that moment that morning. Taking a deep breath in, and giving a soft breath out, his first sentence was
“The animals know better than us.”

Loving You is Blissful - My Darling Hubby

 Twilighting glow of the sky..
 Wanna fly so high..

 Sparkling amidst the million stars..
chosen the crazy pal and so life is excellently par..

As like the blossom were kissed by soft rain..
Your arrival in life diminished all my pains..
God has entwined me..with my emarald diamonite gem..
Enlightening new vistas in life as like your next aim..

At an astounding pace time flew..
But When i didn‘t see you..I feel like..Life is been dew..

Your divine presence in life rejuvenates me..
Every tick of my heartbeat resonating wit your‘s or whatever it will be..

Your innumerable naughtiness made me silly..
But yep, your beautifying nature had an fragrance in life like lilly..

As like snow crested the nestled mountains..
You cuddled my a sip of fountains..

Being With you, Life is euphorically elated..
Full of high spirit and delighted..

Thanks for being accompanying me my theist..

A Rainy May Day

I remember it like it was yesterday and I think in fact it was
A beautiful spring morning that could not go wrong because
The sun it was shining brightly way up in the sky
So I thought I would cut the lawn or at least give it a try

The lawn mower was pristine clean as I took it from the shed
The extension lead I uncoiled and to the mower it led
I started on the back lawn to mow my way around
I listened to my IPod as I pushed the mower across the ground

The cloud began to gather the light began to fade
It was just as if I managed to walk into the shade
Now the wind began to rise blowing grass cuttings in the air
I looked up to heaven thinking this just isn’t fair

A rainy may day was about to ruin my big mowing plan
And as the heavens opened suddenly I ran
Gathering up the mower the extension cable to
Emptying the mower box in to the recycling bin it flew

Then back into the shed all the bits and pieces went
As I ran back in the rain in the garage door I leant
So my mowing day was over the rain was pounding down
Even with my IPod on I had a dreadful frown

A rainy May day washed away my plans to cut the lawn
Yet I know I’ll get another chance a dry May day will dawn
Till then the lawn will stay half cut at least until it’s dry
Then I will get the lawn mower out and have another try

My Wishes are Simple

My wishes are simple,
my desires few,

to gaze upon an ocean,
and marvel at a solitary drop of dew.

My wishes are simple,
my dreams not too grand,

to feel the waves teasing my tired feet,
with no footprints left in the cool, wet sand.

My wishes are simple,
my thoughts serenely gentle, calm,

my heart resting beneath a swaying palm,

healing my being, caressed by nature's soothing balm.

Summers end

Summers end

It’s here at last
There’s just two days to go
The summer days are fading fast
With all the sun’s fierce glow

The rains we hope will be here soon
We haven’t had rain for months
The heat is getting people down
It’s giving them the grumps.

It will be nice to see green grass
As the rain begins to fall
And burnt shrubs their full strength regain
As the weather grows more, cool

I really love the summer season
But I’m so glad when it’s gone
If only for one single reason
That heat goes on and on!!!

Melody and rain

Melody and rain

It’s morning time
And oh, what joy it is
The magpies sing a lullaby
And fill me full of bliss
Black cockatoos fly over head
And with their weeeing cries
They join in with the melody
As the morning passes by.

The sky is filled with dark grey clouds
The rain is coming soon
The morn is filled with so much drama
As I listen to the tune
Of wagtails who have joined the song
This morn is filled with joy
This happiness within my heart
There’s naught could it destroy.

And now the rain comes falling down
It’s rhythm giving me
A sense of something beautiful
 Brim filled with mystery
It’s beautiful, it’s wonderful
This wondrous morning scene
It makes my heart so feather light
So peaceful, so serene.

A tranquil afternoon

As the rain weeps
It's nourishing tears,
i read in brevity of thought.

Spared this day
Of the gardens toil.
As the rain paints its pictures
Upon a windows pane.

With evening brings
This symphony of sounds
The patter of rains,
A release of thunder's.

At home,alone.
A tranquil afternoon.

May these simple words,
Bring to you a peace-ful rest.

Kiss the Rain

Kiss the Rain
Silent Reverie

A still morning around the pond
A “once upon a time” captured
for my viewing…

The wind had hushed in the tall reeds
while reflections of the standing trees
rested, near steady, on the surface
…waivering only slighty to my eye

Sitting still, absorbing the silence,
watching the clouds slide along
in the mirrored surface…
white clouds slowly giving way
to those tinted with softest grey

The sun that once had blushed
my cheeks slipped silently behind
the greying clouds...when?
…I didn’t seem to notice
Its absence caught me unaware
while caught up in the still beauty
of the silenced moment

Much too soon a rippling began
on the glassed surface of the pond..
sending the trees and clouds
swaying atop the waters surface
as a gentle kiss of rain distorted
the silent view…my reverie time
finding conclusion

My “once upon a time” moment
had found its “the end” while
the earths had just began…
a kiss-the-rain, welcomed, occurance
that revives its parched lands

A Water Sonnet

Rivers roll, across the lands
and their song is heard, by many ears.
While oceans roll, upon the sands
and cry their crystal tears.

The tides will help to cleanse the earth;
sand-showers; they are free.
Though ocean-lands, may have a wide girth;
the tides will find it, yes siree!

Water is the source of life;
a precious, roaming gift.
A lack of water, produces strife
and sands, they cannot shift.

So pray, the rain, will always come.
To water’s music; life must hum.

When that rain comes pouring down
And the sky lights up like fire
With jagged forks of vivid lightning
It be my one desire
To join in with its energy
Become a part of this
As the great god Thor he rants and roars
My heart is filled with bliss

I sit here out side on the porch
And joy, it fills my heart
As god who rules the everything
She thrills me with her art
She paints the sky with vividness
Then the thunder roars so loud
And the rain hides all as it pours down
Makes everything a shroud.

 I just sit in fascination
At the wonder of this scene
There’s something about these mighty storms
That makes me feel serene
For God she hides amongst it all
And I can feel her there
Oh, how I love the mystery
That permeates the rain filled air.

~~ Heavy, dark rain clouds are swirling and drifting, And I am waiting for the downpour to begin; Furious, angry and oh so violent is the wind, And in the distance are flashes of sharp lightning. Oh, there is an enchantment and a fascination, In storms, the rage and roar, spellbinding; Thunder and vivid bolts, angrily striking, While waiting for the deluge in total captivation. A whirlwind and a clamor of impressive thunder, Brilliant displays cracking above the trees; The swift moving clouds bursting above me, And an assault of rain falls with intense power. ______________________________ July 1, 2014 Enclosed Rhyme Submitted to the contest Storms, sponsor Shadow Hamilton 2nd Place

The rising winds adoring in its deepest hues,

Up in the sky, clouds were grey and blue,

Rain poured the thirsty soil,

Its time for trees to grow,

Birds to solemnly sing with joy...

Beautiful raindrops were mesmerizing the hearts with happiness,

Smell of wet soil with drizzling rain were cheering the souls,

Sound of rain was giving rhythm to heavenly shower,

Blossom of sweet flowers with its fragnance was all over in the air,

There is a magical eternity in this hour...

''SHE glides with grace, like one in love''

SHE glides with grace, like one in love
     with love itself and all that’s lush;
and when the mythic sprites above
unloose her from the morning's blush,
she descends like the milk-white dove
with the notes of a singing thrush.

With golden locks, as light as air,
and liquid, limpid eyes most blue,
none is like her or can compare
to her beauty and lovely hue
which lift the humble souls that dare
come to her for her balmy dew.

As wind and air Nymph and a muse

The spirit of water

Find me in the surge of the seas
Find me in the stillness of the lake
Find me in the flow of the river
find me in every cloud shape
Find in me the power to shape a stone
Find in me the relief of parched throats
Find me in the sorrow of a tear
Find me in the hiss of a doused fire
Find me frozen in a huge glacier
Find me in the dewdrop of a flower
Find me swirling in a hot cup of tea
Find me in IV
Find me happiest when I come down as rain
For I am pure then sanctified by the heavens
Each day you see me touch me
but do you feel my pain?
You, use me abuse me, dam me, pollute me,
leave me….
For you know I’ll come back as rain again.

Two days into autumn

Two days into autumn

The summer, it has left us now
Down here in W.A.
Although it’s still as hot as hell
It be the second day
Of autumn, that’s the way it goes
Twill be a week or two
Before the temperature does drop
We’ll have to see this through.

So in another couple of weeks
Our days will be more, cool
And most who live in our climate
They’ll think it’s wonderful
As they wait for rain to wet the ground
It’s been some eighty days
Since we felt the rain splatter
From skies, so cloudy grey.

All our lakes are almost dry
The grass is burnt and brown
So when that rain comes from the sky
It will hardly make me frown
I’ll sing, and dance, and get all wet
Just like a little child
I love it when the rain comes down
It drives my senses wild.

Through the long chill of night when at last the sun rose With the sound of a thousand angels dancing upon tip-toes came a great thunderous roar from the tumbling clouds above to place a crystalline drop on the parched barren land And through the cracks of thirst rose in multitudes of lilting song a radiant burst of life to lay hope upon the land

whose bony fingers
stretched above gloved branches,
you danced in the sunlight,
elegantly bowing
for scampering squirrels
and gifts of birdhouse rings.

whose springtime blossoms
scattered petals
for make-believe weddings,
you caught up children
and hugged them tightly
in games of hide and seek.

I run my fingers
along your weeping scars
where Earth’s fury tore
your hand from mine.
Splintered memories,
I have less air to breath.

The Blue

Dubieties engulf all around
As the brume in the dawn
  Behold plants seeking strength
In this warm cuddling cloud

Songs soon sing from the sky
 The common notes that play
When it’s about to drop wet
 Upon human’s bower.

It’s wonted (by this time) to descry
 Dark clouds being deserted
By its everyday residents.

In the mood of the inclement
 It’s sparse to hear
  Any row from the firmament
Other than the loyal sound
  Of the saturated pattering
From the blue yonder.

Light abounding
Blocking the sun
Blackness surrounding
Crackling for miles
Its loud but exciting
Shattering my thoughts
Its rain so inviting
A wall of clouds
Moving and tortured
Here comes the danger
Beauty enraptured
A drum beat, a flash
A deafening sound
Heavy rain falling
On wet, sodden ground

Nature's Cycle

The magnificent river coming down the mountainside spreading out in its majesty as it moves towards the ocean then rising up to the cloud from where it condenses on the mountain as snow or rain that ends up in the river repeating the glorious cycle - the essence of nature

What Beauty Is

Beauty Is…

The sharp crunch of a leaf,

red-yellow under your feet

the crisp air of morning hours

the endless colors of all flowers

the exciting sensation of deja-vu

quand tu marches dans une nouvelle rue

it’s the gentle pounding that you get

when your hand touches your chest

the constant beating of your heart,

with no effort on your part–

Beauty is…

The steady patter of the rain

as it goes down the sewer drain

reminding you that with love

come the blessings from above

it’s the sound of a laugh

finding your other better half

it’s the song of a bird

those touching words that you heard

it’s the curve of a smile

that you’ve craved for a while–

Beauty is…

The confidence of an animal in the wild

the innocent sincerity of a child

the softest touch of a mother

a surprise hug from a brother

it’s a father’s warm, gentle gaze

helping someone through a maze

it’s the bond between sisters

of the likes I’ve never known

it’s in friendships so strong

you can’t ever feel alone–

Beauty is…

The balance human beings have

to stand straight on two feet

it’s the magic of the pen

to realize ideas on a sheet

it’s how humans from different

worlds can relate,

it’s your kind neighbour

and supportive classmate

it’s the patience

remarkable people go through

in situations so mind-boggling

you only wonder what you’d do–

Beauty is…

Found in visiting someplace you’ve missed

undeniable in that priceless moment of bliss

in the silent loudness of a sound

as you prostrate with your head on the ground

the sparkling tears of joy from one’s eyes

the discovery of deep truth among the lies

it’s in the unique snowflakes

with their meticulous design

it’s in looking through a microscope

at nature’s details so fine–

Beauty is…

Praying in the woods

among fall leaves and the trees

It’s that sweet smooth loving caress

on your cheeks from the breeze

Beauty is not found in make-up,

nor found through luxurious gates

it’s a universal blessing that many

forget to contemplate–

Now I’m not sure how to end this,

Cuz this topic is quite endless…

Simply put– Beauty is serenity

It’s the peace found within you

it’s no wonder now that we say

Salamu alaikum, Peace be upon you…

So may you find on this day

Colorful wonders out of the gray

You have all the beauty that you need

To satisfy your soul’s spiritual need,

After all, God is sprinkling on us some of His Beauty

And to appreciate it is the least of our duty…. ~

The Tearstained Window

A summer rain arrived, unwelcome, cold and unannounced,
Spattering softly then louder, as if a hidden tiger had pounced.
I stared out of the window pane as the world turned silver-black,
With distorted reflections of lights from the thunder flash and crack.

A face stares back from the window, captured in each rain bead,
Like a fragmented, displaced reflection of a soul clinging to a need.
They wriggle down the window pane, as if searching for a course,
Like a hidden memory surfacing, loosening a mighty natural force.

Each bead a broken part of me or perhaps a fragment of my soul,
As it clings to the window pane, fighting and crashing as they roll.
Some they merge together as lover warriors against the world,
But they tumble fall to nothing as more raindrops are unfurled.

They softly flow away together, their identities lost from view,
Leaving the world so refreshed, fragrant as early morning dew
An order and a reason, portrayed so assured and so intense,
Rests behind its demeanour, its nature, is not an offence.

What of the different parts of me that are lost upon the pane?
They are washed away to nothingness and purified by the rain!

Black Cockatoos, and rain

Black Cockatoos, and rain.

It’s a dance, a wondrous dance
A story of delight
A show of so much magnitude
As the sun is shining bright
The trees be dancing on the wind
As big black birds fly high
And screech unto the power of God
As the morning passes by.

These cockatoos they fly on over
Such drama in their flight
This multitude of screaming birds
They give me such delight
They land upon the Banksia trees
And start their flurried feed
Tearing branches as they go
They’re a destructive breed

As the, morning dance goes on
I’m filled with mystery
In this world where I live in
It’s such a joy to me
As crazy birds make such a din
And the rains they come again
This be the early morning song
These black birds, and the rain.

Why are cold stars red and hot stars blue

Why are cold stars red and hot stars blue?
I asked Sherry, ma chéri, whilst stargazing
yesternight she and I, only us, hands holding;
Why are hot stars blue and cold stars red?
I asked her anew 'cause I thought she knew;
Her mouth motionless–her eyne tears shed.
Why are blue stars hot and red stars cold?
She kept on weeping, still voicing no reply;
Barefoot, as usual–her feet gladly I behold.
Why are red stars cold and blue stars hot?
No answer but an osculation was all I got.
Lying on the grass yesternight, she and I,
Rainwater started pouring over the lass
And me, yesternight, lying on the grass.

I've always had a
Whenever there's an
That a calming sky
of blue
Will erupt and turn
Black clouds that
are really livid
It's a sight that's
very vivid
As cold raindrops do
not fizzle
Working their way
from a drizzle
To a downpour fast
and frightening
Bolts of sparks from
into lightening
Glowing with blue
shocks of color
Inviting loud noisy
To join in while
Start blowing a
windy reign
Of destruction and
Tornadoes awake from
their naps
Invading with force
that's not mild
Twirling in a dance
that's wild
Now the sky is
turning white
Flakes of snow are
taking flight
Shimmering like
drops of ice
That sparkle in such
grand fashion
Hale slams as it is
Hard and fast while
it is falling
Mother nature is not
This storm party
that is ready
To combine its
strengths so steady
And give us a show
that we
Watch from inside so

When I was young and the rain showered down
I'd watch from my bedroom enthralled with no sound
Listening to the rain it's rhythm tapping strong
Innocent as a child knowing no wrong
It softened the ground making things grow
It lightened the sky, with the nicest rainbows
Then came the thunder and the lightning would flash
Crackling the sky, into trees it would crash
From my bedroom window protected so surely
I'd watch Mother Nature unleashing her fury
As the storm passed and the blue skies shone through
The whole scene forgotten till the next storm did brew.

The day the loo flew

The day the loo flew.

Way back in the nineteen eighties
I was half way through my life.
When my feet grew loose and restless
And boredom caused some strife
And so we two discussed it
And decided what we’d do
We’d go and live in a little shed
With a nice old country view

We started out in a caravan
Lived there for a month or two
Then we bought a roller door shed
And rigged it up nice too
Then put a little shed outside
With a dunny for our use
Hoping that no wind would come
And blast that poor shed lose

Then one day, it happened
It was five past twelve at night
The moon was full and filled the sky
It was a pretty sight
With rain a pouring from the sky
Then I felt a need there grow
And when that need does show it’s face
One really has to go

So I rushed into that tiny shed
And pulled my trousers down
I wasn’t happy about the rain
And my face it wore a frown
But When that blast of wind occurred
And the shed began to move
The mood that I was in right then
It sure did not improve.

That wind did clutch it in it’s arms
And tossed it in the air
That shed it sailed upon the breeze
As rain fell everywhere
And I’m sitting there in all my glory
That rain just drenching me
And all that I could do was laugh
So I did, I laughed like crazy.

Early dawn storm

almost every day
before the sun’s first blinding ray
clouds are touched by warmest hues
displaying their splendid red-soled shoes
each a ship of cumulus shape
far and high their tops will scrape
grayness off the blue domed sky
heralded by a thousand birds dry
inching up the growing screen
jostling as they puff and preen
kissing heads of other domes
lovingly writing sky-based poems
moving all in unison now
nodding and bobbing with furrowed brow
opening a soft thunderous throat
passing over hill and valley’s moat
quickly gathering a soft grey weight
rain and wind inevitable fate
slowly moving across the land
together to make a final stand
up in the tops of the tallest heads
violet lightning neon glow spreads
wind now touches and bends the trees
x-rayed by white lightning sprees
you can almost see the insects flee
zooming over the earth with glee

Black Clouds Overhead

There's black storm clouds outside
and if they should let go
it won't be rain reigning down,
it will be the ice cold snow.

Ominous and black the clouds
that blanket the sky overhead
and if their flurries they let fly
I think I'll hide in bed.

Black clouds hover overhead,
threatening and dark.
Time to go find the shovel in case
Old Man Winter leaves his mark.

I do not mind the rain too much.
It has it's uses , true.
The snow has no appeal for me.
I'll be glad when winter's through.

An empty barn was the home of a dog;
outside buzzing bees attacked a tiny cat...
joyful was the song of a parched bird.

An hour ago, happy was the warbling bird;
no rascals bothered the skinny, smelly cat...
they didn't get close to the hungry dog.

Rain came and it worried the shivering cat;
spring showers were the joy of the bird...
he could have been the prey of the dog.

Sunshine returned: the dog barked, the cat ran and the bird fled.

The First Fable of CharlaX

 The First Fable of CharlaX
The First Fable of CharlaX
A Falcon Cry
The Falcon Cries:
He spreads his wings in vain attempts to dry
He tells me once in a whistle WHY?
Why cannot we fly? When will the rain let up and let me in the air?
When will the water stop to drop on feathers so wet there?
The Falcon Cries:
A mournful sound so loud in quiet of early morn
His claws dug deeper in the branch to keep from being torn
Away from perching in the storm
His sharpened beak at work to smooth his feathers
He was using extra care no longer talking just to me his only whistle
Told me many things

The Falcon Cries:
We disagreed with all the rain both the Falcon and the eye.
Why can't we fly?
Eye could clasp the bird to bosom and dry his feathers there
A bird so wild and wonderful so hurt
With all my tears for the Falcon Cry.

Every Day

The pigeon-shaded sidewalk glistened wet
After swimming all night under rain
That poured from charcoal-coloured clouds and met
With feathers ruffling in disdain.

It was still dark as thunder in the sky,
As if the sun decided to sleep in -
Preferring to be silent in his rise,
To let those giants in gray play violin.

Electric bolts danced briefly in the distance.
The warning bell that followed rumbled low,
Complaining of his dreary coexistence
Between that fire and the rain that fell below.

Until at last the sun came out to play,
Instilling hope that maybe, this time, she would stay.

Patter patter
Pattering pattering rain

You forgot to bring an umbrella
But as you stand in the gentle rain
You soon forget, too
You ever needed one

An outstretched hand catches but a few
You turn your face to the sky to better feel more
Water beads flying by
A tangible view of a different perspective
In the company of the sound of the drops
Life is at a standstill here
The greyness of the world to the eye
Somehow is so beautiful
In the rain

The rain fell down fiercely today.
Washed the trees and washed the birds,
the cars that slowly passed by,
And washed the red roofs of houses in town.

It just couldn't wash away this sorrow,
this inate, nevergone feeling of being alone.
My lips move but what do they say?
not a word from what runs within.

And I always hoped that like salt
the rain would melt it all away,
releasing the heavy lid upon my chest.
A naive expectation,
A silly childish mistake.

For I will die misunderstood,
I'll surely die being betrayed,
No doubt I'll die trying to mend
my full of hope, broken, bleeding heart
that 's been always as heavy as the rain that fell down today.

Sleep comes easily

Details | Free verse | |

The roof seems to have come alive Raindrops now treading softly on tip toes The skies clouded with cottons full of water They drip down as though they are squeezed Black turns white and so they pave way for others From little pitter-patter to heavy thuds and splashes They have grown, graciously engulfing everything I turn over, not wanting to leave my warm covers I pull up the quilts and try to drift away But I can’t resist it any longer, the rain tempts me I’ve always been addicted to rainy days, Today is no exception…so I jump off my bed Still encased in my quilt, I settle on the sill Arms around my knees, I stare at the heavens Oh! So wonderful, so magical, almost fairy tale like The line seems broken yet steady, bulky yet graceful Departed from home, they splash on foreign land Soon, they seep into the depths exploring the layers Some fall on silky leaves which make them their own Some others join their fathers, flowing to the unknown It all happens with a blink of the eye… It continues to rain as I shed my warmth Looking around I realise I am alone, Except of course for the little raindrops Who keep me company on lonely days My only solace on teary mornings My inspiration when I’m about to let go My mentors when I need a hand to reach out to The raindrops are falling and I know today is good My morning cleansed pure with the flowing elixir The rest of the sun, still awaiting my arrival I’m full of spirit…I’m alive with fire fed by water The raindrops are falling and I know today is good After all it is raining…raindrops are falling What could go wrong?

The Storm

Streams flowing
Birds chirping
There is calm all around

Sun shining
Winds blowing
Only peace to be found

But darkness is approaching
A storm is almost near
There’s a grim look ahead
There’s much to fear

We must grasp
We must hold
To all that we love

We must hope
We must pray
To the stars above

To break this storm down
To bring back the light
Once that it’s gone
The sun can shine bright

Rain pouring
Wind blowing
Lightning strikes all about

Thunder blasting
Hail pounding
All the power goes out

Everything seems hopeless
Like there’s no end in sight
But things start to slow down
The storm lost it’s fight

We must rise
We must fix
All that was lost

We must stay
We must build
No matter the cost

The storm has passed
Damage has been done
But prayers were answered
And here comes the sun

The clouds move in fast, crackel's from the roaring thunder.
Lightening flashes across the sky; Rain pouring down inches at a time.
The wind races in-- Stand still and hear the voices whisper:

The rain stops,
The trees sway no more from the winds,
And the sun is shinning 'cause the storm has past.

Waiting on Winter's End

The glacial wind steals our breath,
Freezing rain is falling down;
Silence covers our sleeping town,
As outside it is cold as death;

We huddle closer, sharing our heat,
Breath fogging in the bitter air;
Icicles form on the sweaters we wear,
As the freezing rain turns into sleet;

Refusing to give way to Spring,
Winter sinks her teeth in;
The air outside is cold and thin,
We dream of what the new season will bring.

First Day of Spring

Written October 26, 2013

Love cries out from a songbird
On the first day of spring
And all the flowers bloom in the rain
And sunshine reigns
Over every boy and every girl
In this town that's driving me insane

On the first day of spring
The beginning of the end
Blue skies pulling me in
Along with all my friends
Rain shields the sun again

Alone in my room
I rescind
To the deepest depths of my soul
To sew back shut a hole
That will make me whole

I'm melting to the permafrost
How I feel so lost
In the world I used to call my own
Now I feel so alone
Without a house to call my home

Nannup night

Nannup Night

The rain has fallen heavily
The night feels so serene
Insect noises in the silence
Are heard, though choir’s unseen
In the mystic, magic darkness
I see those fading trees
Drops of rain caress my skin
As they ride upon the breeze.

I sit here on this cosy porch
As the velvet night grows deeper
Though TV murmurs droningly
The peace within does stir
With city life now left behind
Here in this sweet retreat
My silent soul, it whispers to me
And life seems so complete.

No yellow moon reflects the sun
And lights up velvet sky
No shadows cast by its soft glow
The dark night passes by
It be the touch of mystery
That rules this sombre night
And lets Lord darkness strut it’s stuff
Till morning sun shines bright.

When the rain drops fall on my head

When the rain drops fall on my head... When the rain drops fall on my head Then I feel the greatness of the nature When the heat on earth vaporized Then the clouds above makes the rain When the rain drops fall on my head Then I see the farmers are full of cheers When the rain water roll on the ground Then all the barren lands turns to green When the rain drops fall on my head Then I see the rain water runs down the mountains When the rain water preserved in the built dam Then there is no poverty on the land When the rain drops fall on my head Then I know the God sends it for us When we do not go against the nature Then the rain drops fall on the earth for ever Ravi Sathasivam / Sri Lanka Copyright @2004 Ravi Sathasivam (Poem for children)

Nature Rests

Away in the far distance
snow piles high in the mountains
while rain clouds are gathering
over our valley.

Every day the snow deepens
and rain clouds aren’t dispersing.
There’s no use to grumble in
dark days of winter.

Bulbs in their beds are bursting
and reaching for the daylight.
So eager to welcome Spring,
they risk a frost bite.

Chuck the woodchuck sees shadow,
digs in for another nap.
He says, “I’ll stay here until
I hear birds singing.”

Monsoon Carols

Melded with raindrops -
the juiceless earth fruited lusciously
and the roaring lightning pops -
the vehement clouds sparked abundantly.

From time of summer -
for the juvenility they long expected
over the awash field they bopped over -
alike the sweetness of wintry roses, the zestful aroma contrasted.

Here and there the lively music got wind of bongs -
when the rain waved by the wind so heavily
the splashy whispery voice sung like yuletide carols -
with roasted chicken along with champagne, savored blithely.

All of a sudden the sun peeped out in between,
reckoned alike to chance once upon the Kris-Kringle's camion
Over the sky it arced with orange violet yellow blue red indigo green,
glowed as if presents wrapped along with gleeful horizon.

The sky that outraged fell out the factual consequences,
Around the globe masses fantasied the season to be resurgence
Palsy-walsy rain was alike the snow flurry occurrences,
Jejune July was abided by the Holy Christ's renascence.

Beyond midnight

Beyond midnight

It’s way beyond the midnight hour
About three am in the morning
No moon, it shines there in the sky
Way before the day is dawning

A blessed feeling touches me
As I walk the morning streets
As stars they shine in the velvet sky
And the whole world feels complete

There’s no one here, but Bear and I
As we quietly walk together
As rain caresses face and hands
Oh, I love this rainy weather.

There’s nothing like these early hours
Everything seems pure and clean
As the silence seeps into my soul
And my world feels so serene.

Tears come down, gain momentum, form as rain
Sun beams and wind twist it into bands that land
Strike each leaf and branch with spring like action

Grass abounds out there about the tree
Expands for miles to horizons deep in green
Drinks in the sun beams, wind and rain
Nourished and serine
Sings underneath the giant tree

The sky’s the darkest shade of grey,
Here at the ending of the day
Such rich vibrations in the air
It seems that peace is everywhere.

The room is silent, no one’s home,
Just me, I sit here all alone,
With the dog here snoring at my feet,
The fire warming, gentle, sweet.
No voices ringing in my ears,
My mood is sweet, my mind is clear
Whirring computer softly soothes
This evening, how my heart it moves

This evening be a special time
It brings to me such peace,
As I sit quiet, and melancholy,
I’m feeling so much ease
Aloneness can be oh, so sweet
I sit here feeling so complete
 And put attention onto me
Soft and loose, and feeling free.

A Walk in Moist Woods

The pensiveness of the sky
is broken by the cry of a crow,
by trees distilling intimacy
and moist, vibrant expectancy.
Violets, ferns, and birches
share life-giving vapors.
The chalk-bleak horizon
and pungent, poignant odors
whisper sonorous secrets.
The visitor is enveloped
in this pithy, soulful world,
all cells saturated
with a suggestive sustenance.

While living on the clouds

Everything which
separates as useless
everything, but
sleep of leaning
evaporates and
floats. The skies
collected all the
warmth and
And I am nothing
just a mere winged
which chose to drop
its wings and settle
on a fiber
of fluffy
nothingness. I'll
through sun,
ignoring droughts of
 while living on the
cloud is coldest.

The skies have
gathered all the
atop of gentle
blades of grass
it blows and drizzle
in small beads
of folly
 bringing solutions
to the leaves.

Caressing rain

Morning raindrops.

I while away these morning hours
With the sky so very dark
A trillion stars they sparkle brightly
As I’m strolling though this park
With Bear cub rushing on ahead
So excited that he’s free
It’s seems that we’re the only two
Who walk beneath these trees .

The rain is heavy in the air
Though it’s not falling yet
I love it when the rain comes down
My heart fills with regret
If the drops don’t touch my skin
With their early morning sweetness
I love to feel their tingling touch
As my face they do caress.

Ah, here it comes, the air is filled
With moonbeams soft yet bright
Sparkling like a trillion gems
To give such sweet delight
To eyes all bathed in velvet soft
As the rain caresses me
There’s something about this morning rain
So filled with mystery.

the storm

Thunderous bang
Blinding flash of lightning
A loud clap
The crack of a whip on air
The storm raged on
The endless shower of the heavens
Continued to pour in a furious gush
With a staccato matched by no other
Droplets of water merged to form bombs
That dispelled the rhythm of sleep
The rain ceased to sooth
As its arrival on the tin roofs
Sounded in disturbing fashion
All sound silenced by the shimmering and hissing
The heavens continued to spit on the earth

Dust turned into mud
Streaks of puddles formed
United they raced in a furor in tune to the laws of gravity
The parched earth sucked the running water
Choked and spat out the trapped air
But the water was not to be outdone
As it rushed in a melee far from the earths surface
Into choreographed gutters, trenches and reservoirs

The rain droned on
The deepest slumbers awakened
This was not a rain like any other
The roof cracks began to pour in water not droplets
Widened and rendered the roof useless
Inhabitants were drenched within four vertical walls
The wind arrived with a loud whistle
And the loud protest of roofing sheets
As they were ripped of with extreme violence
They were tossed like leaves
Until they were suddenly dropped lifeless several meters away

The wind cracked windows
Sucked out trees from the embrace of the earth
The planted crop was carried upright and life less
On a ride of its life
To be dropped as if in disgust far from the field
Those that remained in the ploughed land
Lay flat heads and body battered to submission by the pelting rain

Then like the end of the tango
The rain slowed down with contrasting grace
With extreme haste after laying to waste
Everything all had worked for

The silence of the night returned
With all things tongue tied
The morning arrived after eternity
The pale rays of dawn
Revealing the gruesome sight to all and sundry
The sorrowful disarray
Of abandoned life forms and possessions
Then far from beyond the mountain
The thunder rumbled as if in satisfaction
Of the immense destruction and impending starvation and doom

Kiss the Rain

After I woke up this morning, I saw I walked whilst the rain poured down on my head I for sure loved running within each drop I kiss the rain, blessings I held instead The rain flowed down on my body, around Blending with my being all that I am I hold the rain in the palm of my hand There’s so much rain, I do love her, madam She leaves such an imprint onto my hand A feminine form bolstered onto me Signaling a born love of the warm rain Something that I have always loved completely I kiss the rain, as if I’ll never see… Like I’ll never see rain ever again Holding the lovely droplets near my heart It’s the best feeling that has ever been

Drink of the gardens

I listen to the sound of the rain
I feel its touch all around
Thunder is the gods making love
A storm of power a beauty of dynamism
Its liquid diamonds that drop from above
The atmosphere is raw as the rain pours

Its nature at its finest the drink of the gardens
The seeds are fed the roses now bloom
The trees stand glistening
The grass sparkles with the dewiness
The ground moist underneath your naked feet
Its a sea of greenest waves

The smell to your senses
Its freshness wants you to admire
A perfume that persits to your being
A beautiful ray of gods essences
Priceless potion of natural substance
Almost drives your thirst

I listen to the sound of the rain
I feel its touch all around
Its nature at its finest the drink of the gardens
The seeds are fed the roses now bloom
The smell to your senses
Its freshness wants you to admire

Comforting Rain

Outside the window
I hear the rain.
It relaxes me,
it dispels my pain.

I breathe in deep,
fresh cleansed air.
I empty my mind
of worrisome cares.

I love the sound
of rain in the trees.
It comforts me,
puts my mind at ease.

Summer rain falls
outside my window,
the most relaxing sound
that I know.

Standing by my window,
I smile as I watch the rain pour away
One two three
Black drops in a black endless night
So beautiful this merry song
Standing by my window
Watching the black drops pour away
Away to some unknown destination
And then you pop up
In my smiling mind
And I feel the familiar warmth of you
Slowly creeping up
Enveloping me in a warm loving hug
And I stand by the window
Watching the rain pour away its black drops
One two and three,
Countless memories of you fill up
The void in my heart
The empty space in my arms
And I hug them
Next to the rain
Next to the pouring black drops
Hug those bittersweet, sweet and
Scented memories of you to
My heart
And smile in contentment
One two and three
Away they go
The black black drops
One two and three
Here they come
Rushing, flooding my heart with your warmth
Filling me with a genuine
Tearful happiness
Those wonderful sweet memories
And I move away from the window
Away from the pouring black drops
And embrace the marvelous sight of you
In my mind
In my heart.

Soaking me little by little
Wet seeped in and the skin chilled
goosebumps formed upon my arms
The hair resembled a drowned animal
wet, tangled a tumbling mane
Clothes hung like a second skin
The shoes wet and sloppy
squeaking as you took each step
The rain came dripping downward
Time to get out of the rain.

My fingers tapping rhythmically on the keyboard
As raindrops fall hypnotically outside the door
The scent of Petrichor; dry Earth dampened by rain
Overwhelms olfactory senses….as addictive as cocaine

My surroundings refreshed, the land will now purge
Water, the recipe for new life to emerge
Crystalised droplets dazzling like diamonds
Decorate emerald leaves in the thousands

Raindrops’ hammering the tin roof is calming
As I look out the window, rivulets are streaming
Raindrops are nature’s way of cultivating
Therapeutic cures for all things living.

The inevitable dance

Raindrops Falling

God is blessing me again
with precious little drops of rain.
He’s taken on those watering chores
that had been keeping me outdoors.

Now I have time to take my pen
and ink some poetry again.
I’ll write until the sun comes out
and puts those rain clouds all to rout.

In spring I got a little weary
and grumbled that the days were dreary.
I pleaded for the rain to stop.
A farmer must put in his crop.

The summer brought a bit of drought
and raindrops I have done without.
Until today with welcomed rain
God’s blessing's falling down again.

Whenever the sun hides behind cloud,
One could discover lightening & thunder aloud.
When it starts to drizzle, the roads fill up with mud;
Then heavy rains cause it to flood.

Some people feel the rain, others just get wet;
After a few moments the rain gets set.
When anybody is in pain,
But we can't have any rainbow without heavy rain.

Rainy Day Memories - contest

The fine rain is falling
filling my nostrils will melancholy
remembering family days,
walking the country lanes,
the perfume of honeysuckle heavy in the air
besides the freshnesss of hay and mown grass

Looking across the valley
where Mamgu would be waving
a tea towel from the cottage door.
A signal to tell us lunch will be ready in half hour
quickening our footsteps we cross fields
climb stiles to be home on time.

This is holidaying in West Wales
Where purity still raises its head
Where a fine shower brings out the nuances of nature
to install in our memories
So that a rainy day brings us back
to happy carefree family times.

To nature, to the family, to memories.
The pitter patter of rain supplies all of these emotions.

Everything in life is in a constant state of change A mountain may appear fixed for it is unlikely to change noticeably in our lifetime Yet from the perspective of infinite time that mountain is just as transient as the morning mist Even as one looks at the mountain it is changing The sun, wind, rain, snow and other forces of Nature are continually changing that mountain It may take millions perhaps billions of years for a noticeable change but Nature has infinite time for the change

Rocky Mountain Rain

Finally fervid air gives place to the first rain;
The summer lawn soaked under a drippy layer;
The rainfall plunks down the petals of flowers;
Along the fences some green bushes sustain.

Apple, cherry and plum leaves prepare to fall;
String bean, peas and cucumber vines droop;
Green onion, garlic and parsley begin to stoop;
September heat swung by the mountain squall.

Bald high peaks scattered by the early snow;
At dawn the tops are covered with baby flour
Then transform into snowy clouds within hours;
It’s a sign to say goodbye to the summer glow.

The rains colored the mountain slopes forest:
Decorated by red, yellow, golden and orange;
Unlike the evergreen forest of my native land;
This nice scene will be in white like the crests.

Mountain rain and view reveal natural creation;
The fiery summer air has to fall and farewell;
Then autumn and winter will ring their bells;
Our physical and moral change with the seasons.

Rain makes me feel like sleeping,
Each drop sounds like angel singing,
Pouring from above the sky so softly,
To the earth like diamonds beautifully.

Rain can heal our broken heart,
It cleanses our soul in our part,
It’s not a symbol of loneliness,
                                                 But pure love and happiness.

Rain can be a great pain reliever,
To make us think and out of danger,

The Rain Knows

Where I live, the people know my name.
Where I walk, the moon knows my heart.
Where I run, where I watch, where I think;
where I really live, where I truly  am;
there, the rain, its sight, its silence, and its music know my soul.

Its melody drums on, patters through my musing mind.
Its melody thunders o'er the tundras where I reside.
Its melody cascades down the windshield of my emotions,
its melody showers me, ever on through this life;
all I need, at times, a stroll through a storm.

Do any eyes see, into the heart of this man?
Do any hearts beat, to the same rhythm as mine?
Do any feet dance, the same pensive adagio as I?
Do any spirits really know me, I always wonder;
yet when the deluge is upon me, the pondering stops.

I know it knows me.
I know how I feel when underneath its misty sheets.
I know what it means when it comes to visit;
I know the sweet taste of its droplets,
the caress of it and its sister, the wind, on my cheek.

When I'm full of thoughts, and need release; it knows.
When I address it as a stranger, miss its company; it knows.
When I need; it knows.
When I feel its harmonies resonating within,
and call upon its half of this transcendent duo; it knows.

I can be anywhere, and feel a twang
on the strings of my heart; and it will know.
I can be doing anything, and if my soul sends a cry,
one that I rarely know anything of; it will know.
Somehow, it's there for me.

I am keenly grateful for its vigilance,
aware of how much it's done for me;
and I can do nothing for it.
What does the rain need, desire, miss?
Only the rain knows.

Whatever its reasons for remaining with me,
whatever its reasons for so constantly soothing my soul;
I will forever be in its debt,
forever beholden to all it's done -
I hope the rain knows.

In Defense Of The Rain

Some folks like to complain
And are very fickle
They fume when rain is falling
And fret at a mere drizzle

Wild birds and animals
They all need the rain
Which gives them water
For their lives to sustain

The plants and the trees
And all the lovely flowers
For them to grow and flourish
They also need the showers

The food crops that are grown
To provide food for us all
Each of them would perish
If the rain did not fall

So please think of these things
Before you start complaining
And creating a lot of fuss
The next time rain is falling

the river

The River
The river that crosses the high plain like
an artery has only muddy water since it
didn´t rain in the summer.
Wild horses and donkeys come here to
drink, but often they look up and scan
the horizon weary of man and his dogs.
They served mankind for thousands of
years but with modern farming methods
they are no longer needed and have gone
feral. Free now, but freedom comes at
a prize, winter can be hard and often they
are hunted by sportsmen who kill for fun.
By the mountain there is a corral but only
the stupid and sick go there, the rest know
they are fattened up and used as sausage
meat, which the town uphill is famous for.
Every Octobers there is a gigantic party in
the hill town, beer is senselessly drunk and
tons of sausages eaten, the river, that crosses
the plain, becomes a putrid pool of human
waste till winter rain falls and clears it away.

Must see September in the rain

September in the rain.

Must see September in the rain
I’m waiting for September in my pain
Let me watch those wild flowers blooming
As the circle turns again
Must see September in the rain.

Don’t know what’s coming up for me
Yet even if it turns to misery
I’ve got to heard those Spring birds praying
As they dance with destiny
Must see September in the rain

Oh lord, I’ve got to feel it
That Springs breath touch my skin
Caressing me with beauty
Let me feel it seeping in.

Lord, I’ve got to hear those creatures sing
Oh lift me, let me breath the joy of Spring
Let me hear those angels singing
As they call me back again
Must see September in the rain.

Dancing In The Rain

Can you hear the thunder?
The smell of rain tickles my nose.
The strikes of lightning brightens the sky.
There is a storm coming our way.

Ah yes, the wind blows the treetops.
It rushes through my long blonde hair.
Another bolt lights up the horizon!
Should I run and seek shelter?

As the first drop of rain falls,
The thunder and lightning intensifies.
I open my mouth to quench my thirst
With the sweet taste of falling water.

I am lured into thinking I hear music.
I have no fear as I lift my arms in the air.
My body begins to sway with closed eyes.
The raindrops are soaking my skin.

I drift closer to the sound of the skies.
My movements are becoming enhanced.
Like a sprite, I am dancing in a wet forest.
To the beat of this sensual summer rain.

Sky-Falling Gold

Some complain of snow

Some complain of the cold

But what falls from the sky

Is much more golden than gold

Blessings from the sky

Yet we turn a blind eye

We instead express our disgust

When we could turn our sins into dust

We could pray to alleviate someone’s pain

But instead we scowl and frown on that rain

We could thank God instead of making a fuss

(It’s not like He’s throwing rocks down at us!)

A time to be grateful,

Yet we just complain

We could be making precious du’aa

For major beneficial gain

But it’s easier to grumble

Roll your eyes and shake your head

You may regret not taking advantage of this

When you’re long gone and dead

Don’t delay being

Grateful to your Lord

Let your heart live out

The ‘alhamdulileh’ word.

The Rain's Came

The early spring rain pounds the earth
washing sleep from the eye of dawn
conducting percussive rebirth.
The early spring rain pounds the earth
bringing the pattering of mirth
as awakened the violets yawn.
The early spring rain pounds the earth
washing sleep from the eye of dawn.

The Sieve of Time

The Sieve of Time

Cast ashore,
along the banks of time,

whirling through the passing years,
clinging to my futile scribbles set in rhyme,

Cast ashore,
thrust into an unrehearsed pantomime,

clenching slivers of joy as weariness descends,
lulled into a peaceful slumber exhilaratingly sublime.

Cast ashore,
hazily adrift, a dandelion seed on the wings of time,

trapped in the sieve of spiralling memories,
caught between pristine bliss, and reeking slime.

Cast ashore,
flung aside for no discernible crime,

my human heart thuds with elusive hope,
though battered, bruised, and covered in grime,

I stagger ashore,

embracing each moment of detached, oblivious time.

Nature at its best Charm

Tip tap splitter splatter ,
Goes down the rain ,
Flying down with a clatter ,
Creating brooks along the lane …

From the dark , fluffy clouds ,
Descending with the breeze ,
Exciting the overjoyed crowds ,
Swaying along with the trees …..

Splashes in the cool puddles ,
Muddy footprints of toddlers and teens ,
Accompanied by the pleasant sounds of guggles ,
And happy faces with wide beams …

It is a blessing , a form of love ,
No frowns , no sorrow , no hatred , no harm ,
Just healing the pains , smoothening the rough ,
Because nature is at its best charm ….

Farther than the semi-dark hickory hill,
clouds gather over the picturesque valley
of this vast region engulfed by a chill...
as misty rain comes to evoke spring's beauty!

Its gently pelting raindrops slowly quench the trees' thirst,
flowers return to hasn't rained in fourteen weeks;
morning and noon with only sun and no soothing breeze...
Nature was too arid and farmers expected the worst!

Fall, warm raindrops, slowly fall until late evening
to make room for a clearer sky with an ascending moon;
will only lovers await nightfall while those crickets croon?
Rejoice gleaming roses...your petals will overjoy the living!

Finally the whitest moon reappears into the Heavens,
it will not miss another night and lovers who'll feel dilly;
why did it wait behind clouds as misty rain came to evoke spring's beauty?
Oh, let those moon rays reach me and make this motionless body dance!

Distant African Nights

Those Distant African Nights...

The shadows swayed in your candlelit room,

a cool breeze teasing your bare back,

streaks of lightning forked in the Johannesburg night,

as my hands stroked your hair,

kissing your soft mouth,

holding you,

ever so tight.

You whispered that you loved me,

and I kept silent,

the rain fell,
shadows danced,
thunder rolled,

the breeze teased your naked back,

you whispered that you loved me,
as my lips found yours,

the rain washed over our tender nights,

lightning and candlelight,

etching poems on your burnished skin,

a fear gnawed at me,

deep within.

We parted ways,
and you could never forgive me, you said,

now, after numberless thunderstorms,

the rain that falls,

echo the countless tears that I have shed.

You are long gone,

far away,

happy, I pray,

yet the memories persist,

those precious moments shall never,

like the Jo'burg rains,
trickle away,

and I wish you well,
for loving me as you did,

for it was I who was not worthy,

and it is I who is not worthy,

You were always true,

it was I who always,

refused to,

to give myself,

completely to you.

Our Divine Haven

This town was the place we used to call our haven
You don’t remember which road we’ve driven on
The stars were shining against your cherished soul
You’re a part of my belongings
You’re ascending above the ground
The peace is still like hidden treasure – it’s bound to be found

I believe in you…I put my faith in you
After the miracles you’ve performed
You don’t agree with what you truly are
The sky is grieving
You jump from puddle to puddle
You’re struggling to meet your destiny
Even if your body is saturated in sweat
You must keep your head above the sea

Follow me and I’ll lead you to divine haven
Forgive the past that embraces you with remorse and think upon our jubilant future
It’s tempting to just give up and turn around
I could tell you've been stressing out
But rest your head on my shoulders and let loose your strain on me

Each melody is an exquisite sound that bounces into our ears
Commotion and strife will cease and your heart will be free
We’ll flee together…despite the unwholesome weather
The voyage has just begun…hold my hand and we’ll rise like the sun
Trust me…we will be strengthened and well-equipped before we take that road of victory

Follow me and I’ll lead you to divine haven
Forgive the past that embraces you with remorse and think upon our jubilant future
It’s tempting to just give up and turn around
You’d rather be drifting away and never be seen again
I wanna change your mind and erase your frown
Take your mind off of the distressful past
Let loose your strain on me

Hey! I know you’re stronger than you realize
You’re not a failure – don’t be disheartened
Don’t worry…you and I will earn our future prize
This mess will clear up in a moment
Just stay by my side and never depart
From the light… I promise that we’ll endure till the end
Just stay nearby and our hope won’t tear apart
We are willing to do anything to attain our wishes and delight
Let’s take action and snatch our glory before our time is up

Follow me and I’ll lead you to divine haven
Forgive the past that embraces you with remorse and think upon our jubilant future
It’s tempting to just give up and turn around
You've been trying to keep a steady pace
But rest your head on my shoulders and let loose your strain on me

Let loose your stress on me…
Don’t be under pressure
Let me handle your anxiety…
Reach towards our divine haven
Do you need a helping hand?

I wish you a carefree

Natures Dream

I walk through the field of green
My feet are bare and the grass squishes underneath me
The rain is falling like little pebbles soaking me in beauty
I breathe in deep letting its sweet scent fill my nose
Suddenly my feet are moving in a circle
I am dancing, dancing with love and hope
Love for the rain and its beauty
Hoping this moment will last a lifetime

My summer dress flowing in the wind
Until it’s sprinkled with tears from heaven
I can’t imagine anything greater than this
I have fallen in love with this day
This moment means only the world to me
The burning yellow sun peaks out of the clouds
Shinning down on me with its warmth
The drops ping against my face leaving a stream
I am still dancing in a circle now waving my arms in the air
The song of nature sings to me in the wind
It sounds like a dozen wooden flutes
The tune is sweet so sweet I get swept away in it
The grass is so green like emeralds from God
I fall from dancing and roll down the grass
The whole time I am laughing and it sounds as if the butterflies are too
My pretty white dress is now green
Butterflies dozens of them are flying around me
They surround me in their array of magical colors
They start to hum to the song of nature sung by the wind
It seems as if this tune is from heaven
I start to hum along to this wonderful tune it seems so familiar
I close my eyes and start to dance all over
	Letting nature take me away
Birds come and tweet along to the song
I don’t think I just do, I go along with the song

Finally the sun peaks all the way out
I can see it warming up the earth with its warm rays
The rain is still coming down just sprinkling over
I can see ahead a field of daises beautiful white daises
I run as fast as I can to the daises the butterflies and birds follow
They are soft like silk, their smell fills my nose
I close my eyes and run through the endless field of daises
I lay down and watch the fluffy white clouds pass overhead
The sun shinning as bright as ever over the clouds and sky

The sky is baby blue with a little purple
I have never seen a sky so wondrous
It looks so full of possibilities and magic
As I lay there I hear the daises moving in the wind
To the song of nature once again
This I know is beauty at its best
I fall asleep to the tune and awake in clouds
         I am home

Grasp the anguish, of the dank do-

Gooder, bursting across

The local track. Kids bored silly

Outside the school, sneer as

She slips past. The brassy broad clings

In the wind to her hat,

As shoulder straps preclude her sack

From sinking, she is an-

chored by her leather bag, the last

Treasure she can hold fast.

Since the rain washed away the mirth

Of the carnival day.

Storm Front

The wind blows strongly across the dark night sky Lightning flashes through the air, brightens the land A storm approaches, fear comes from what’s implied The lightning and the rain sure is very grand As I stand out in the pouring rain I fear The storm clouds I see, they begin to appear Lightning comes ever increasingly to me Testament of willpower to stay and see

Sweet rain from dear heaven
are you drowning me

drowning my heart

sweet thunder from dear heaven
are you blaming me
with your roars
to curse my sadness
devouring my flesh

sweet lighting from dear heaven
are you showing me
with your bolts
to end my darkness
blinding my sight

sweet heaven for now you can rest
as your love has reached me

The Weather

The thunder crashes against the night wind
The rain pours into the night sky
The wind get stranger by the minute
I look inside myself and it's my emotions
My rage is the thunder that crashes against the wind
My tears is the rain that pours down my cheeks
The wind is all the negitiavity around me that is making me sway
All I can think of is when will the sun shine again?

Spring Showers

when earth cries
its tears fall upon us
not tears of sadness, really
tears to cleanse the horror
that it has seen that year
to wash away the pain
and the blood that has stained its surface
a revival
so it can last one more year
the ugly must be swept away
so the beauty can be seen
or else we might not notice
we might only notice
so the bad must be swept away
so the good can return
so the showers must fall
so the flowers will bloom

Mother Nature

Mother Nature

They say that Mother Nature
Is to blame for the rain
The hail, the wind, the sleet
And the snow
She terrorize the neighborhood
Much worse than before

They say she visit the ocean
And bring a rapid rage
I wish I knew Mother Nature
But I never seen her face
Why is she so silent and
Distance from our sight
Why is she like a spirited shadow
Somewhere lurking in the night

Mother Nature gets the praise
For starting and stopping the rain
I never been introduce to her
So why do she gets the blame
I am trying to determine in my mind
Who Mother Nature really is
I am trying to determine in life
Is she fictional, or is she real

I have heard of Mother Nature
From my childhood back to birth
Why Mother Nature gets the credit
Remains to be researched
I read about what Jesus said
In the Holy Book
I didn't see Mother Nature
I must need a second look
I turned from page to page and
I couldn't find her in that book

I found that God put together
This whole world from birth
The rain, the sleet, hail, and snow
God decides when it falls to earth
I still wonder how Mother Nature looks
I wish someone would show me where
To find her in the book

I found that Mother Nature
Always get the praise
She has been popular in this world
For many months, weeks, and days
When I turn to the weather
Broadcast playing on TV
It always never ceases to amaze me
That Mother Nature is the topic
And she never fails you see

How does Mother Nature hides
Herself from the public eye
Is she non-fiction or a fictional lie?
All I want to know is whether
Or not the woman exist
When questions are asked about her
Why they are easily dismissed

I know Jesus because he
 Lives on the inside
I acknowledge him
In all my ways
So he can be my guide
I know not Mother Nature
And discovering who she is
Has become an issue
I only want to see the woman
So does anybody have a picture?

Story of Alates

Alates, winged, flying termites
or flying ants, harmless to others,
leave the safety
of their underground colonies
after a prolonged rainy-day
in the tropical terrains.

Sensing appropriate conditions
in surrounding environment of
warm temperatures, low winds
in an exodus, suddenly, synchronized,
out of so many holes in the earth
to settle in newer ones.

Alates shed their wings and crawl
as wingless bodies
after a frantic swarm
get attracted by bright lights
to utilize the heat of lights
to dry themselves from the moisture

Some females, potential future queens
majority males, disperse for a nuptial flight,
often over the course of only a single day
the males dying in abundance to reach females
and the mated females disperse
in attempts to establish a new colony each.

While alates are busy doing their acts
the blue jays, the crows, the pigeons, the sparrows
the lizards, the squirrels are all in glee
busy gorging on the hapless alates
lucky to be mightier and stronger.

A sight that reminds me of
another act of sacrifice, among many
scripted by nature
so that another can live now
and a progeny can be born again!

The storm just threw and swirled
Paints of grey, black and dark blue
All over our Earthly dome
Like a rageful Pollock.

The noise and the lightning
Turned us small
The waves of flood
Slamming against the feeble constructions
Carrying away cars,trees and dogs
Making me think
Of Thor, Iansã and Zeus
Neglecting all I've learned about
electrons behavior and magnetism
To think of gods from ancient times
Perhaps acknowledging
How extraordinary and dreadful a tempest is

Some people let the storm in
Pointlessly trying to run somewhere
Only to be carried away
And increase the general tension

How long could this last?
How far will it go?
How harder can this wind blow?
What if this...
And what if that?
How long can a minute last?
We look at each other eyes
A scared silent crowd
Looking for the same instinctive answers

Then as if the painter
Had changed his mind
The darkness is gone
Cleaned with a cloth wipe
The rough wind is now a soft breeze
Blowing the fragrances of earth and eucalyptus
Up my nostrils and over my face
The clouds are revolving
With light shades of grey and magnolia white
Over the most beautiful of all blues

There's a deep heavy silence
A few muffled and distant sounds
Or perhaps it's only me
Caught in a dimensional current
To share with all those humans before me
The feelings of bewilderment and impotence
In face of Nature's outbursts
And with a grateful soul
To finally understand
How the seeds of hope
Could repeatedly be sown and grown
In the human heart
Since the beginning of times.

Soft Rain

I like rain, not hard, angry rain with an attitude
who, was neglected by the mother cloud, and
angrily show its hate towards those who had
nothing to do with its misbegotten infanthood.
No I´m thinking of soft rain that is like a caress,
a kiss of eternities promises.

And nature is still, this is a moment of rapture
a longing for so long denied blissfully fulfilled.
The dampness of my skullcap and my alpaca
jacket is so soft that it almost feels like oil, but
I know I´m just a spectator under an umbrella
who ought to go home and lit the fire.

Summer's coming

Some days the Spring is cold and grey
And drizzling rain is no surprise.
It seems that nature's lost her way
But soon the Summer sun must rise.
While rain washed blooms can find no bees
        A worm is still a blackbird's prize.
The sparrows fuss and skulk in trees
But soon the Summer sun must rise.
And what of you my nature's child,
Will I find love inside your eyes?
I love to watch you running wild
But soon the Summer sun must rise.
Some days the Spring is cold and grey
But soon the Summer sun must rise.

The Storm A Blowing

The wind is blowing
Raindrops are falling
Through my window, gusts are howling
Right here right now my soul is loving
The Wintery blast that is occurring

My heart a flutter, my minds at ease
With this constant blowing breeze
Winds so strong they morph the seas
Mountainous waves leave land like Swiss Cheese
Each gust feels like God aboves sneeze

Birds take flight, trees hit the ground
Wood creaking, snapping, a cacophonous sound
Chaos reigns as wind becomes Earthbound
Not a light in the street can be found
Powers out, deadly wires snake all around.

Mora Piya Ghar Aaya - My Beloved Has Returned Home

Mora Piya Ghar Aaya (My Beloved Has Returned Home)

the leaves fell, as you left, a bleak chill wafting across the barren space within my being,
you left, taking your smile and mine,
my smile rests with you still, leaving a void impossible to fill.

pangs of longing consumed me, my only company in the frigid nights,
my tears remain frozen, within,
unable to fall from my broken eyes, as I searched the depths of the cold, harsh skies.

birds returned home, though you did not, and I felt soothing rebirth all around,
memories of you began blazing, their embers stoked,
and at last the tears rolled, like ink on this blank notebook, my whole being pined for you, my very self in anguish silently shook.

alive I felt again, the promise of the coming cooling rain, easing the heat of desire,
yet the furnace slowly raged inside, your absence tearing into me, shattering my nights, my longing for you soaring unfettered across the skies,
dancing on clouds, blissfully free,

heaven itself opened, the deluge an unending dream,
rain falling all around, mingling with my flowing tears,
and then I saw you, you returned, and I embraced you, never wishing to let you go,
and though I may wear the mask of the clown,
if you were to leave again,
my very soul, would quietly slip away, and in the monsoon rains, I would gratefully drown.

Rain drops

thump thump.......
the rain drops stirs me awake
i open my ears
thump thump .......
i listen intently
to the sound of raindrops on the roof
i smile, a perfect weather
i'm not saying i always love the rain
there are days i'd rather play tennis in the field
but today is different
the rain seems to contain energy
and i am tapping into it

i look at the time
so much time to do what i want
more raindrops
i take time to admire the trees
the drop of rain on each leaf
and as it rolls down the petal of a flower
its going to be a lovely day

its quiet
the birds have run to find shelter
but i'm hardly bothered
because the sound of raindrops intrigue me
i love the smell of rain on sound
for a second
i wanted to be sucked into this moment
be in this place
where everything is simple and in order
but i turn away and smile
the best thing about the rain
i jump on my bed and put the covers over my head

All night the rain

All night the rain poured and poured and poured
I could not imagine a sky's heart broken so
Loudly the trees sobbed, and winds also roared
Some loneliness in me rose too to overflow

No stars nor moon nor any light from heaven came
A dark cloud consumes the forms and shapes
And in the blackness everything appears the same
Out of my heart a shudder, a horror escapes

To ponder if this cloudburst stays and never cease
The water rising from ponds, rivers, and the sea
And Orion widening and widening to show the east
Preparing the fire for the beast, and we cannot flee

The fire after the water coming, and the rain all night
And trees shaking to show the earth vibrating
And prayers found in us revives anew the old delight
Man and God intersects and sweet interceding.

Tempest Lost

Thunder, thunder from the sky rock me from my beddie bye

Rain drop, rain drop falling down saturate the thirsty ground

Windy wind whipping around tossing things west now eastbound

Tree branch, tree branch waving free knock out electricity

Darkness, darkness fills the house causing me to gripe and grouse

Flicker, flicker candlelight the time I wish you'd expedite

Onward, onward toward the hour when there once again be power

Kitty, kitty in the corner why so sad why play the mourner?

Soon oh soon this storm will pass ending your desperate morass

Lightning, thunder, rain and wind I wish your bane I could rescind

The Morning of My Brother's Funeral

As the wild bear ate the wild berry
She noticed a wild beauty of her own-rain.
She lived in Michigan
Blue rain kissed the green trees
But only one tree made her heart sing
Did the rain feel sorry for itself
Was the question ringing from dusk to dawn it did
And no one heard it but her.
A storm was coming in the distance
A hurricane of peace forced her to dream big dreams
A dream from the younger version of herself
The tenacious one
who would chow down on freshly carved crayons
Thinking thoughts of a sunny moon
Or who hear her taste buds
Singing among tall tall trees, blue blue rains.
She too has grown fond of wild things
As the night of regret fades
The bear, the berry, the rain, the wild
All beautifully crafted
Were these new sculptors of art
Proper artists without knives
So she sang of ol’ Michigan’s nature to gray skies.
This rainstorm was a storm of all storms
For she cried, she wept, and then she fainted
For she was the lonely wild berry
Desperate for more than rain
But oh t’was Michigan’s nature who lived in her
Pain was a mirror whose tears resembled her,
for she was rain.
And all wild, sinful things were washed away
But what about the many sins of my dearest brother?
Was he not forgiven by his foolish wife
It was in his latter days,
That she finally had crept up close enough
To taste the voice of my brother’s sight
He too was a wild berry,
So we placed a wild red rose on his warm stone.
Why was my brother’s wife at this funeral?
She was not of him nor the rest of my family
My brother was blind enough to still seek
After Michigan’s beauty
Its nature he hungered for more and more
Wanting his thirst to be quenched
By that tangy orange sun, the blue rains,
The wild berries, the tall green trees.
But it rained the morning of brother’s funeral
A funeral that hadn’t happened yet
For Michigan rain was but a dream with in dream
Screaming chaos ever so silently, and so gently
That morning I reckoned the only
Stranger at my brother’s funeral was his wife
Yes, for we knew him
Even more so after his death
And that moment, Michigan’s nature, too, embraced us.

This Nornalup

I stand there on this patio
And watch the river flow
As grey skies in the heavens
Do hide suns warming glow
Tall trees like giants on yonder shore
Stand as icons to the power
That made this earth so beautiful
With it’s trees, and clouds and flowers.

Five boats lie on the grassy bank
As they wait to ride the river
As motor boat comes speeding by
To my eyes it does deliver
A breath of action to the scene
So silent, soft and still
And everything feels wonderful
And wonderful I feel.

Some fishing folk fix up their boats
A day of sport they see
While me, I watch the river flow
The whole day, endlessly
As I ponder on the magnitude
And the power of this scene
In the loveliness of Nornalup
On this morning so serene.

Port of Call

Port of Call

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

with the breath of the ocean a caressing balm,
soothing pained memories away,
to the swaying of a solitary palm.

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

feeling the brushing away of all past turmoil,
on a quest for solace, ever so hard to find,
yet comforted by the crashing of the waves,
as the tide cleanses all pain,
and leaves despair far, far behind.

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

drenched in a sea-breeze of mist,
that hushes the ache of bygone moons,
tasting the salty tang on my lips,
as the burnished sun,
over the distant horizon,

and dips.

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

searching, ever searching,
for a slice of solitude,
as memory bids a final adieu,
reaching under the sea so vast,
and seeking comfort in the depths,
while embracing,
the tomorrows to come,
wishing that they be true.

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

seeing my truths drown,
as they slip beneath the turquoise waters,

feeling my heart ablaze,
with a passion that rarely falters.

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

yet knowing that I am home at long last,
wishing the waves would wash away,
the defences that once stood,
like an impregnable wall.

Barefoot on a talcum beach,

alone, not lonely,

I have found, at long last,

my final port of call.

random thoughts on a rainy night

The sound of rain drops
Tried tickling my ear lobes.
Not once did I crave
For their feel on my face.

I turned a blind eye
To lightning's power display
I saw them ripping the sky
With the indifference of one waiting to die.

But the smell of wet earth
When it arose unseen and unheard
My cells, it soaked till I wondered
Were they intoxicated or coming alive.

Where I had always waited to dance in the rain
I surrendered myself to the fragrance of one loved....

It is

It is the beauty of the ocean, the comfort of a rain forest
the freedom of the road, the height of a mountain
 the warmth of the dessert,
 it is nature
a storm fierce & strong a bolt of lightning, a crack of thunder
hard rain falling, a rainbow of colors, a sun shinning, a sun setting
the full moon beaming, bright stars glowing
 it is nature
it is human error that we take it all for granted
it is what makes us feel whole & complete
but it is us humans who choose to neglect
 & ignore true peace...

Sun and Rain

The sun came out for a little while

On a somewhat gloomy day

There's more rain to the south of us

which may just head our way

But the flowers and bushes, the trees and the like

Are enjoying the water that fell

They're nourished by the H2O

their green leaves show the tell

A rainbow stretched across the sky

As the sun began to set

And with sunshine in the forecast

On one thing you sure can bet

That tomorrow morning you'll hear a voice

Mumbling in the garden

For the weeds, they grow here also

Without regret or pardon

So the cycle of summer now begins

It's march toward the autumn

Then winter covers all the land

Until spring begins to thaw them

Then the flowers and trees, bushes and the like

Will spring to life once more

The sun will warm the Earth right up

And the rain will once again pour

Saturday Rain in Johannesburg

Saturday Rain in Johannesburg…

…With sighs of torrential passion,
the heavens shower teardrops,

weeping with me,
as memories of you come cascading back,

skin on skin, ablaze,
moist kisses, fiery,
gentle whispers of undying love, murmured,

in another life, another time,

far removed from my present, a desolate state of despair,
wallowing in the grime.

The rain keeps falling,
each teardrop stinging my face,

tasting the salt on my lips,

I wonder, do you still remember the caresses of my fingertips,

between breathy confessions, and vows of eternal love,

before you left me, stranded on an island of solitude,

wounded as a wingless dove,

bereft of life,
stripped of all traces of fortitude

Train Calms And Settles

            Train Calms And Settles

Held above the moss, chocking the bog in calm and thick
Train floats over rusting rails then stalls
Wet mist with warm smoke from the engine mingle
Falls back to earth to cover
Iron on iron on the deep grinding steal
Settles with the tracks and stops
The smell of pine from trees not far or near
Give a sense of safety on the marsh
Insects notice the change and circle at the site
Their ancient armor heard above the silence after thunder
In the distance are unclaimed cities
Waiting far off in hope
On the bog there is no help
Insects of the flying kind draw closer
Curious to find a solid meal
Wheels and machine grow greener
Stuck in place
Train calms and settles on its fate
Remains covered by the rain

NORWESTER I seasonal vicious squall

It was well past noon when I stepped out on the street The sun blazed above and the tar squelched beneath my feet No birds chirped nor eagle soared As I waited in the heat for a bus to board The roads were empty and the journey was fast With another bus behind, doggedly trying to speed past Vying for passengers though only a few were about The heat restricted movement –of that there was no doubt! The sky had darkened when I got off the bus The wind was cooling and blew in gusts Gathering scraps of refuse in swirling dusty piles Scattering them again with the wilfulness of a child’s The sun was shrouded and dark clouds now ruled The change was pleasant, the weather had also cooled I knew a storm was brewing, but not how long I had To cover the open distance to where we lived with dad At that point in time there seemed no sense in hurrying A pleasant walk was favoured to an insane scurrying I had a mile to cover – home was thus far A fifteen minute walk or a couple of minutes by car At the end of the road, I turned right A canopy of thick foliage shielded the dusky light Garlanding a square lake with waters, now dark And two tiny islands amidst, all part of a park The air, here, was thick with the raucous cawing of crows Where colonies nested and now lined the branches in rows In this pristine oasis amid the city’s noxious fumes Nature reigns unfettered in her many-hued plumes

Solitary seed

Deep, down beneath the soil
Lay In the darkness
A solitary seed
filled with complete loneliness.

It wanted to feel
The golden sunlight
And prayed to the rain
To shower with all its might

It was bored to be alone
In complete silence around
To see the beauty of the nature
It wanted to break through the ground.

Giving it a golden tint
The sun rays shone on the ground
The ground got flooded
As the rain showered around.

Dawned the day breaking the shackles
The seed came out with joy
In bliss it gazed at the world around
Where it was sure to enjoy

Rainy day finally gave way to intermittent sun -
Walked out with camera before rain should return,
And fell in love, mesmerized, helpless, captivated.
Stopped at garden with waist-high iron railings, riveted,
And its flowers stunned me. Never knew you could get
So many blooms into a pocket-handkerchief spacelet.
Hanging baskets overpouring their petunias down
To meet  roses climbing tenaciously up the trelliswork brown;
And tubs along the short path, each tub - afire and flaming
With joyful marigolds of yellow and orange - jostling
For space to get fired up and send their glow
Over the path’s six stepping stones, submerged below
Spreading alyssum and spotted lobelia, which crept
Cautiously over the bottom of the railings stepped.

But filling this mini-realm were the marguerites’ charms,
Reaching through their tiny prison’s bars into my arms,
Offering their open hands in supplication, white innocence,
Wide spread, full of generous, pure opulence :
Golden topaz seed-centres glossed with raindrop spot.
Oh I touched them as I might an uncertain cat, careful not
To spill their watery yolks. They ignored the iron bars with ease,
And begged me to pluck them, waving steadily in the breeze,
And invading the footpath outside the garden with their whirl,
Looking me in the face and smiling irresistibly like a pretty girl,
Welcoming, flirting, lovely, brushing my fingertips to invite,
Large,perfect, pristine, fragile, graceful, white.
Took some quick pictures as the rain came suddenly back there,
As it does in every head-over-heels love affaire.

A Night

there is something in the air
that speaks to the piercing rain -
some giant, flailing whisp of interminable beauty.
the dazzling electroshock of occassional
sprinting spears,
wonderful in appearance,
sinister in execution.

the moon lingers in the water,
but disappears on land -
a delicate pool of illuminated sand
with no distinction from the blazing sun of tomorrow.

will the endless drops of rain destroy the
tiny wings of the moth?
so fragile and defenseless,
it finds shelter beneath my porch
and loses itself in the ceiling lamp.

The Way

I hear the wind calling
The rain greets me
The lightning claps
And the thunder rolls with me
I walk through the storm
Following the wind
The wind sways me to and fro
The rain slaps me
The lightning gives me light
It shows the way
And the thunder rolls with me
I walk through the storm
Following the wind
Lost but not alone
The lightning shows the way
The thunder rolls with me
The rain falls, gives me blessings
And the wind blows me to the way

Rain Drops

The rain drop falls to the ground not making a sound.
Hundreds follow. Falling round and round.
The children play and laugh in the water falling down.
They soon run in the house when the thunder brings the sound.
The wind comes and takes the rain drops by force.
The tame, quiet rain drops become a storming chorus.
The clouds go by black and gloom.
The winds stop. No plip plop.

 Then the rain drops resume.
The first fell and the others followed.
The earth welcomed them thirstily and swallowed.

The world wouldn't have been restored and the beauty would not have come
if the actions of one had not been done.
Next time you see the rain drops remember they're followers
who saw the actions of one.
Take the lead like the first drop
  or nothing will be done.

A soft wind blows
With the smell of rain
Tree limbs bend
And gently sway

Clouds billow high
In the afternoon sky
As I dreamily watch
The day go by

Slowly and gently
The rain makes its way
A refreshing cool mist
On a warm summer day

Then comes a rumble
And the rain starts to pour
And my mind floats away
On a soft summer storm

Gently,wiping your way through
Moving calmly with your crew.
Looks as of a snowy,puffy,soft candy;
I would have got hold of you,
if you were handy.

Sometimes you used to make out some shape,
While, once I observed you as of a round tape.
The way you pass through the tress & buildings,
Gives me a visualization of wonderful settings.

I wonder how you would feel;
when drops of rain and the airplanes peel,
your tender body with their force!
I think you would definitely feel worse.
Or,May not be!

Whatever it is, my quest for you is,
Dear cloud, can I take a ride back of you?
And shout aloud with happiness, because of you...?

No history's books with golder trim
ever recorded her sweet name...
softer than a warm rainfall,
she only listened to her call.

Away, swifter than lightning, into the sunless forest
she rode the whitest horse in her dazzling wool dress;
and by her undeniable amazon looks, one surely knew
Rain had the strength and audacity of riding through.

In mediaval times, men seeking many adventures
could become mercenary soldiers
to fight a Holy War in the Crusades...
and Rain protected those wild and pristine lands.

Brave and willing women were excluded from every battle,
by being harshly told to hush...suppressing their pain,
but courageous Rain changed all that with a refrain,
" I'll defy anyone pillaging the grasslands and not tremble!"

On wooded land and open water, the gale struck hard Plucking fallen twigs and flowers and leaves and the unwary bird Caught unawares, a family of cranes about five or six in number Took hastily to flight from an island and were hurled across the water Violently shaken from slumber, the trees awoke And as they swayed in frenzy, thick branches snapped and broke Still ignoring my instincts, I continued to walk But the fury of the storm made me inwardly baulk The greatest dangers posed were however man-made They were live power lines on poles, strung overhead And loose metal roofing of shanties rattling nearby Poised to ride the storm, razing as they would fly With heart pounding as the wind raged, I quickened my pace Half blinded and with hair tousled, as the dust stung my face I could see the rain as it approached, fast across the lake But despite the extended canopy above, I was soon dripping wet Whipped by the wind, the rain lashed hard My neighbourhood was deserted, not a soul stirred All had taken refuge – even the stray dogs and cattle As lightning flashed and thunder cracked and windows shuddered and rattled With wary eyes for falling debris, I walked the middle road Fearful of lightning strikes stabbing earth like a jagged sword In an alley, off the road, a glass pane fell and shattered As the relentless storm raged on, reaching home was all that mattered

When the dark clouds of a thunderstorm appear on the horizon I take a front row seat. I watch as the sky is being filled with black clouds that shimmer with lightning. A slow, deep rumble of thunder fills the air. The color of dark green tree tops pressed against a dark sky is a beautiful scene. A slow wind begins to blow, almost smearing the colors of the trees into the clouds. A sudden boom of thunder explodes from the sky. A warning of the rain to come. The rain begins to fall. At first it's only a mere sprinkle, but as the wind picks up it pours. Steam rises from the heated asphalt. The rain cools the earth, releasing the aroma of moist dirt. As the storm is coming to an end, I find myself inspired. I want to write.

Four Seasons

Winters boldness has its ways,
Of bringing coldness through its snowflakes,
Through the windows its always viewed,
But within it we humans are rude,

Spring dandelions bring us smiles,
Puts us outside back for a while,
Its nature starts to show,
Those seeds are watered,
Did you know?

Summers heat is so intense,
Takes our garments off our head,
Oceans and pools begin to be fed,
Oh and at night no blankets used,
Just our bareness instead,

Showering down summers leftovers,
Here comes autumn!
well I guess Fall?,
The breeze it brings feels like an AC,
Look what's coming up again,
Winters boldness, Come Save Me!

The rain has stopped
But I am saddened by the sudden, brilliant onslaught of sunshine,
Although the apple trees, drenched and dripping
                   In the steaming orchard,
              Glisten in almost painful beauty.

The rain was comforting while it lasted
              It suited my gray mood,
For I was caught up in reveries of blue yesterdays
And I traveled into the nether lands of despair
                 Where regret and sorrow dwell.

But now the sun touches every corner of the landscape,
                           Banishes melancholy
And will not be cast aside.

Gold dances on the perimeter of darkness
And hope most sweetly is restored.

Wind suddenly rules the day with strong hands
         as dusts spread their tentacles

The Calm Before the Storm

There is this pause before a storm,
Before the sky take monsterous turn,
While the birds still sing there song,
And kid still laugh and play.

But then the birds stop singing,
And children go inside,
And then the rain begins to fall,
It starts out slow then goes a little faster,
Till it sounds like kettle corn on my roof,
Then I ask myself what happened to the rain calm before the storm.

I have held a mirror to your skies,
reached into this upside-down world,
dipped my toes in your clouds,
splashed your rain on my face.

You are, at once, a pebble in my hand
and the ceiling of my mind.
The curve of your oceans
meeting Hale-Bopp on the horizon,
the Helix Nebula as your halo.

I sense your spinning, your hurtling,
your reckless careening.
I, the privileged and
you, the hallowed
that laws of physics grounds me to.

But it is not gravity that keeps me here—
it is my clinging, as to a mother’s bosom
into which I weep,
for I cannot walk into your forests
nor traverse your rivers.
I cannot save one life
or even stand upon a podium.

This poem is all I have to give.

The Rain Maker

Sweet rain is hammering the dry ground
Dirt turning to muddy foundations
Leaves nodding their heads to the sound
Gaia smiling upon her creations
The earth with green is gowned
Eudora now pouring her libations
To Ceres, with grain is crowned
Patron, we give our adoration
The fruits of your harvest abound

Beautiful lights that glare before me,
Magic delights you allow me to see.

Mystical Rain in the sky up above,
Mystical Rain throwing stardust of love.

A surreal sight as I stand and adore,
Leading the way - so that men reach the shore.

Mystical Rain in the air all around,
Mystical Rain making love without sound.

Marvelous specks of desire in my view,
Lightly you peck at my face like the dew.

Mystical Rain; blue metallic and green.
Mystical Rain; play your tune quite serene.

A show so alive as you dart through the sky,
Helping planes through the mist, where pilots do fly.

Mystical Rain; shine your light in my path.
Mystical Rain warm my heart; make me laugh.

Drowning in the Maelstrom
Vision blurred grey
Head Bowed
Mouth set unmoved

Two skins wet
Feet aflame
Back broken
Body numb

On the green earth
Between steel topped stone
And a God’s fury
I sit
They sit
We sit

Breath rasps with the steam
Frozen and frying
Dead hands and dying feet

The sea taps at numb shoulders
Water on stone
Eyes refocus
Still grey

The ocean drips over the brim
A waterfall for weary eyes
The call comes
They Stand
I stand
We stand

Hacking back into the torrent

Rain and Us

Last night it rained,
Incessantly, but without hope
For this was not
The time of the year,
Only the season of prayer
From a million parched lips.
Murmurs coalescing
Into clouds, precipitating
In the rain dust
Waiting for a miracle of sorts.

Last night it rained,
The street lights got drenched
Withdrawing into themselves,
With silent prayers
On the rims
Waiting for a Buddha to appear.
But the flowers bloomed
To welcome the coolness
Ignoring the evanescence,
The uncertainty
Of the passing moments.

Now, in the cool, quiet morning,
When I walk among
The riot of colors, I know
The flowers
Did the right thing
When it rained last night.

Perpetual Devotion

For every drop of rain that falls
From the heavens far above
A little flower bursts forth with life
A testament to eternal love

It's a symbol of perpetual devotion
A tribute to that age old appeal
In the very truest sense of belonging
Each day the signs are revealed

Amazing, a word that's often used
To try to describe this evolution
The way of life since time first began
The supreme consummate solution

For every drop of rain that falls
The world is refreshed and renewed
A rainbow of glorious profusion
Giving earth its colourful hue

Rain Rain

Spent four years in the sun
Wished for tears
yet there were none

Clouds promised and passed me by
Yet they too
would not even sigh

The earth moaned in its arid dust
Yearning for even a hint
a scent of rust

Winds blew and brought hue
For four years
I thought of you

All began a new song
Old man take away the sun
forgive all that Ive done wrong

Rain, rain
Don't go away
We need you to stay

Bring again the bow in the sky
Which showed the promise
the one from up high

Sigh oh cloud enough to gain
Changing the song
old man let the rain stay

For Granted

The wave of the soft wind blowing whispering in my ear
I stop to listen as the birds singing guide me near
As I walk on a carpet of green and my feet touch
A pool of rain I no longer feel pain
I reach to the heavenly sky’s
For some sort of sign to guide me on my way
As I stumble and fall lost in front of a big and tall
Woody plant I look up to see a bright light in front of me
Its yellow rays has turn the clouds away
As I continue my trip on this wide and open road
I start to see the splendor of living things
How for granted we take
The wind the birds the grass the rain the sky the trees the sun
If going green means to save wild life and preserve nature
shouldn’t we after all god gave this to us on barrow time
On earth as I look around me on this out side world
Where the love grows cold and little know about
Our oceans Turing red as we turn blind at what’s next
We are set on moving fast and going no where
As I stop and stare I shed a tear for greener years

Now bring your rain to fall on me
To wash away my deep regrets
I know how lost it all can be
To one who's only seen sunsets
But rise, pure heart, sweet sanguine gem
But rise, and I cannot condemn
Nor you, nor I, nor all the world
Can know the perfect taint within a pearl

Agitation grows perfection
All things stem from darkest dust
Diamonds, pearl, love's complexion
Know its name is what it was
So dark, so dank, so damp and cold,
In loneliness 'gins love. Not gold
But silver, lunar, somber shines
In where are found love's anodynes

So shine the moon upon my soul
So taint my eyes in crimson's stead
So bring your rain to make me whole
Oh leave the past for dead

Let us live the moment's endless loss of space and time
Let us live, let us regret, forgive this heart of mine

Not sun, but moon, not gold, but grey
Nor heart nor mind is here to stay
No tears could ever fade away
Let live the dark, let fall the day

Let stormclouds fall, content, contrite
Completion, oh what death is right
When never torn away from sight?
The sunset
       so beautiful

The Rainstorm Song

Let It Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain … Rain
Let It Pound Against My Window Pane
Let It Slant and Soak and Stain
and Steady Drizzle-Drip Down This Drain

… Oh, Let It Rain

Let Dark Skies Gather and Claim
Silver Streaks, As Gray Clouds Came
Even Pretty Damp … Today Seems Plain
Let The Sunshine … Today, Feel Vain

… As It Rains

Let It Pour! …
‘Til It Pours No More
Let It Pop In Puddles
‘Til It Pools Around My Door

… And Should I Shiver
Don’t Let It Differ
Let Raindrops Run
… Just Like A Raging River

Let This Thunder Echo Like Ten Trains
Let The Lightning Flash High and Aim
Let Winds Whip Wild & Wet Then Wane-Untamed
Let It Twist and Turn My Own Weather Vane

& Pitter-Patter Thru My Blood-Vessels & Veins
… Oh Let It Rain

Let It Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain … Rain
Let It Pound Against My Window Pain
Let It Slant and Soak and Strain
and Steady Drizzle-Drip Down This Drain

… Oh, Let It Rain

Experiencing the Rain

Experiencing the Rain

By Elton Camp

Dark clouds approach from the west
To the coming summer storm attest
The grass has become brown and dry
Life-giving moisture rain will supply

When rain is near, I usually can tell it
Partly because I’m able to smell it
“It’s ozone,” weather experts all say
“Lightning is why it smells that way”

For such explanation I don’t care
The storm is saying, “I am there”
Louder is the thunder as it draws near
Vivid streaks of lightning then appear

“Come inside,” my wife calls out
Her advice is wise, I have no doubt
The wind picks up and the leaves shake
A safe refuge I was then forced to take

With sudden fury, the rain does begin
It stops a second, then starts again
On the roof it commences to drum
Through the downspouts it’ll come

Now it falls in the thickest sheets
Against the window panes it beats
Raindrops hit puddles that are advancing
Old folks may say that fairies are dancing

All outside has become fresh and new
Just as a summer rain will always do
What, from such a rain, do you get?
Some feel it, but others just get wet

And the clouds build up
to thunderous applause
rubbing shoulders
as they muscle for position
but their lives throw shadows of their existence
brief, so brief
yet they bring the relief
to the dried earth croaking its plea
up on high
hey, what about me!
The clouds put their heads together
And share a lament
They share a sad story
And then they repent
They break down in tears
And in love release their fears
As the ground receives
As one that believes
Sustenance, relief, quenching, with tears
Of joy
Ah, what joy,
As the cracked lips that were gapingly open
Receive their drink, and close with satisfaction
Ah, the relief

Lift up the tarps
Let the stubborn rain in
Wind up the roof
Watch the lightning begin
Mud up the feet
In the dance of the wilderness
Twist brooding trees
in a moment of dizziness
Spin all the stars undone, laughing and overcome
Mix all your tears with the eyes that the rain came from
Sleep under grumbling clouds, thick sleep with anvil eyes
Wake to be healed by the opulent opal sky
Fold up the tent
Let the sun warm the ground
Pull up your roots
and sweet tune to the sounds
Pack up the storm
in your backpack and go
You just can't stop the rain~
Might as well join the flow...

Midnight Thunderstorm in Joburg

Echoes of furious thunder,

splintering the silence of night.

The rain beating down in sheets,

fractures the darkness with lashes of light.

Branches strewn snapped and broken,

leave limbless trees shattered.

The torrential deluge crushes,

delicate flowers laying bruised and scattered.

Ah, but the storm passes,

as all tempests eventually fade,

leaving raw wounds to heal,

shielded from the morrow’s blazing sun,

resting in the serene coolness of comforting shade

Spring Showers

The moist air come around once more
to start the new life of nature to be sure
spring showers that cleanses our world.

The snow melts to a degree for it is time to see
a world of wonders for everyone
that needs a spring showers to be free.

The ground gets all soft for things to grow
to be part of this emotional adaptation
is how we should know.

The binds of winter goes away
to be come a new season to portray
a wonder of colors and beauty.

The moment has come to use your umbrellas
in many ways can block the showers
that might drizzle on us to ruin our day.

My Winter

So many people rave on about summer
To me this couldn’t be dumber
Winter is the time for me
A time where I feel truly comfortable and free

Winter is great sleeping weather
Either alone or embracing together
There is no season that is better
Some like it dry I like it wetter

My troubles get washed away with the rain
Swept away like the winter leaves down the drain
A time where I feel less pain
A time where I feel slightly less insane

With considerable rain comes a departure of the water restriction
One can bathe without fear of conviction
In summer people smell and sweat
Less likely in winter because it’s cold and wet

Winter starts on the 1st of June
With the darker winter nights comes a brighter moon
The sounds of the rain and wind at night
The pound of thunder accompanied by sparks of light

When it’s cold you can put on a beanie or an extra top
If it’s hot there are only so many layers you can strip before you must stop
Winter is a time for rain, hail and snow
A time when the weeds slowly grow

In winter there are less flies, rodents and ants
In winter I can feel comfortable wearing pants
In winter termites are less active or even dormant
Good for us but for them a bad predicament

Winter is a great time for a hot drink
And an excellent time to head to the ice rink
In winter you can hug without feeling sticky
Being intimate when it is hot can be quite tricky

A drink stays cold so you don’t need to add ice
In winter you can have a hot curry with rice
In winter football is played
Birds migrate and eggs are laid

You lay beside a warm fire
And drink red wine or whatever you desire
There’s nothing finer than a warm home cooked dinner
In winter you are less concerned about being thinner

You may get a little cough or sneeze
And you may see images like these
Children playing in a puddle
A loving couple having a cuddle

Winter colours can be dark but also bright
Like when water turns to snow it appears white
The sparkling of stars at night
The fallen leaves with the wind in flight

Winter is most definitely the best of the four seasons
This has been proven with so many reasons

The sound of water is heard
The rain falling onto the ground
Like a giant waterfall
Where the source comes from nature itself

The sun hides behind the clouds
Which have darkened
Lightning and thunder
We see and we hear
The signs of a heavy rain

I now hear splashing sounds
I see tiny fountains as water droplets hit the ground
Muddy puddles form in grassy patches
Traffic comes to what seems like a standstill

After the sky has shed all his tears
Joy and love radiates from the sun
A new weather, a new cycle
Water has begun yet another circulation through nature
As if starting afresh

Without rain
we would run out of water supplies
Crops would not grow
Famine and drought
And poverty

Humanity is no longer troubles or worried of any wrongdoing
All washed away
Humanity is cleansed by nature's purifying waterfall
Dried by the sun's warmth and glory
We are ready to move on.

Rain is a blessing.

Another morning awakening,

Rolling down cloud blankets,

Down pouring,a mild rain,

Keeping the Sun one way traffic,

No cloud,

No thunder,

No lightening,

Down pouring,mild rain,

The wings of flys becoming wet,

Burden bit,

Drops of snow sitting on their back on thrones,

Shining like gems,

The King silence in the ruling,

No cloud,no thunder and no lightening,

Down pouring snow rain!

A Spring in the Glade

In a far off field are dark green blades growing and a lovely daisy nodding,
In a far off meadow a king-cup stands there, with a yellow primrose so fair,
In a far off glade there is green grass growing, there I will rest my feet,
A warm bright sun shines in the sky and a warm breeze closes my tired eyes.

The grass in the glade is sweet and long, softer better than any noble bed,
And the sweetness of the grass and the warm sun made me dream many dreams,
Then suddenly awakened by the low roar from from a waterfall from far away,
I realized it was raining and the noise was from a thousand drops on leaves.

Now standing under a tree the rain is soft and gentle, gracious and warm,
New life came into me as I stand beneath an oak tree listening to gentle winds,
The steady rain wets meadows and mead's, down through cracks in the peat,
It travels underground meeting the other raindrops to flow as spring water.

Clear springs are feeding the runners, swelling brooks making its way to rivers,
There are silver drops on the glade flowers and trees, far away faint rainbow,
The sun returns, the bright beams reflects from the wet grass as little prisms,
And a bine of crow's-foot entangled in the branch of an elder tree, glistened.

Rejuvenating Rains

Feeling lost...
I close my eyes
And inhale
The rising storm

Gentle rhythm
Into drops
Freefalls upon acceptance
From quickened sky

Liquid softs
Liquid grace
Crying tears
Caressing face

The thunder claps
Echoes an epiphany
As essence liberates

Spirit free
To fly at last

Rushing ways
Are souls being cleansed
Soaking up the cool...
Rejuvenating rains

Walking Away

As the wind rushes by,
Already shy.
I watch as you lie,
Making the seasons cry.
Sometimes I would always wonder why,
They always do their best to try.
You show you turned,
As though you never learned.
But yet your love is what they try to earn.
The rain drops go and run,
Drying on the heat of the sun.
As I walked upon your shoulders,
Trying to relieve all the bolders.
The beauty of our past,
Has not yet last,
Among the lands so vast.
The rain drops yet fall down,
Letting my emotions drown.
I have not yet made a frown,
I still stand,
As though this world is so bland.

After the Rain

After the rain goes away,
All bad things have been washed away.
My tears fell with the fallen rain drops
And they will wash away down stream with all the tears
From the sky.
When the rain dries up and
All my pain has withered away with it,
The flowers bloom again and the sun comes back out
And all the joy I have lost has come back into my heart.
After the sun comes out and suns rays are shining,
I feel so lifted and happy once again.
Like all my burdens are gone and I have been set free.
After the rain clouds come,
I feel sadness in my heart again and the pain comes back
Just as before and I feel my eyes start to tear up and water.
After the rain falls,
This cycle will start all over again.
It is never ending and it's the story of my life--
It's how it will always be--
After the rain.

Erudite destruction.

I sat in the rain with the world at my feet
and I sighed.
Staring into it's eyes; it's limitless gaze.
I swooned amidst the tragedy of a starving visage.
I cried at the birth of morning light;
Of the sun dappled vastness; the twittering congregation
that scorned my affections with ignorant, cheerful song.

The rain continued to fall in shivering waves.
Each droplet a wish I never made,
a promise I never kept,
a conclusion I never dared dream.
While the trees sang in unison, each leaf rejoicing
as my screams refused to interrupt their hedonistic sunrise.

The morning opened its jaws; wide, loose and jagged,
like the sharpened words of an ex lover.
It spoke to me in tongues and sang to me in Dutch.
I sat abashed, vainly interpreting such linguistically tainted insight
with a gaping mouth and clenched fists.
Revelling in the sadness of misunderstanding.

I merely nodded then, smiling warmer than the rising sun,
pretending that I had the slightest idea
as to what the morning was all about.
It laughed in my face.
Offering me a hand and a look of condemnation,
with a saddened smile that was too brief to register.
Our palms met and I shuddered at the plainness of its touch.

Onward we walked, as I marvelled at my fellow inmates.
Rotten fruit of damaged trees, walls left unpainted,
Stories that had reduced their writers to tears and disbelief.
Tangled, weeping, sceptics.
Erudite destruction.
I would have screamed, had the night not already covered by mouth
with the dark skin of a slender, furtive hand.

I watched with disdain, knowing I was among my kin;
I was one of the townsfolk in a city long since created
and left to crumble in ruins.
I felt the bile rise in my throat and the air leave my lungs
as I began to run back into darkness.

I turned my head so blithely that the morning shed a tear.

Rain begins again

Rain Begins Again
June 28, 2011

Dizzy Lizzy sitting in the rain
Waiting for it to sustain
Hear the thunder rolling
The giant in the sky is bowling
The rain is so cool
As the mourning jewel
The birds in the trees
Feeling the cool breeze
The rain gives new birth from the heart
It quenches the earth from its start
The rain feels so fine
It makes my head feel so sublime
The earth needs the rain
So all life can sustain
The feelings that we share
Surely, do we dare?
Revel in the glory
Of the never-ending story
With the land and it’s age
From this to another stage
The flowers so much in bloom
With such a beautiful flume
Surrounding our earth
From the beginning of it’s birth
Will be the rest for me
For all time and my destiny

Reminensces of Petrichor

The night still sings with
The memory of rain; the air
Is drenched in the pungent
Scent of damp earth and
The grass is dripping with
Starlight like liquid silver...
The stars are raindrops caught
On the gossamer wisps of cloud,
Which hang across the sky like
Ribbons; like the ghosts of rainbows...
And I?- I am a ghost moving
Soft like a breath in the dark,
Trying to learn how to dance to
The sound of a Spring night
As the breeze tries to remember
The words to the song it used
To hum on lazy Summer evenings,
But only just recalling that it had
A melody like warmth...

The Deluge

The Deluge.

finally the deluge

skipping in rhythmic heartbeats
the softly sprinkling rain

hums and lulls and cajoles and comforts
the weary evening
glistening leaves
on beaming trees
blades of grass shimmer
like rough diamonds strewn about
and settling in my heart
is the softly lilting touch
of peace
of truth
of the rain clearing away
the debris of this passing day

Drip Drop of Rain

Plotters- plat- platters a drip of drop!
plop-plop-plop the dripping raindrop.
Purplish splash on mud and mire-
Clapping rain drop put out the fire!

Purring rain of dripping drops
against the water and greenery tree tops.
Perfect symphany of the falling rain-
Plotters-plat-platters a dripping rain.

I watched the raindrops
one by one they fell
they filled an empty hole
till it became a well
every word of yours is dew
like this rain I seek
the hole here large and empty
for a cistern of waters keep
Within I hold these waters
as a gift for you
the life within a garden
cannot without them do
The moisture collects in clouds and wind
their circuits round the earth each day
their routes can now be firmly mapped
its requirements to life portray
The bounties hidden in a desert
you won't ever see in bloom
until the rain its torrents fall
saturates the seeds entombed
Your words are livings waters
they must fall upon the seed
they cannot germinate or grow
they require this moistures deed
Mankind's become a desert place
where scorpions and snakes do dwell
life here is with the cold blooded
from the rainforest they have fell
Comprehensive examples have been left
in all nature and histories show
a better teacher than science books
if we observe what's here to know
The fabric of all of life
holds me like a wadi tell
like an archeologist
who digs the sands and dell
These nations want gold and silver
but true riches they despise
in the end pursuits of vanity
will damn those who think they're wise
Once again you refreshed my mind
when I thought my well be dry
the waters here clean and clear
not bottled with a lie

By the Water's Edge

I sit by the waters edge
Sitting on the border of a concrete ledge
Surrounded by miss-shaped rocks
Formed by the years of repeated water knocks

I throw a line in the water
As a man sits next to me with his son and daughter
On my line I get a bite
The bait disappears with little fight

I reel back in and rebait the rod
And throw back out for the battle with the cod
Suddenly I see a school of fish
Hoping for every fisherman’s wish
I recast trying to get the biggest and weightiest fish

I see a cormorant tangled up sitting on a pylon
Wrapped around his beak is plastic or nylon
I get up to aid the injured bird
But it fly’s away as soon as my footsteps are heard

I go back to my battle with the underwater beast
Still confident my patience will result in a feast
The clouds come over and it begins to rain
This just exacerbates my frustration and pain

All of my attempts have so far been in vain
But still I sit but wonder if I am still sane
The rain begins to clear
Perhaps now the fish will appear
I can see a rainbow in the distance
My mind wonders despite my resistance

I try to focus on what I want to achieve
I quickly realise that it’s the bounty of fish I want to receive
It’s hard to fish with so many natural attractions
Whilst not unpleasant they are unwanted distractions

I ponder on these thoughts for a time so long
And eventually I conclude this is wrong
I reel back in my line with rod
And forget about the fight with the cod

I am going to enjoy just being here
Such beautiful sites at a near
The glistening of the sun reflecting on the water
The earlier image of a father and his daughter

The ripples and shadows the water creates
The way the bird flew and never hesitates
The way the fish refused to be caught
The way the rain and fish together fought

The rain gently dripping off my hat
The way the cormorant on the pylon sat
The way time seems to stand still
The way nature can make a person feel

I get lost in the moment and don’t want to leave
Some of the things I’ve seen I can’t believe
I should come down here without any fishing reasons
How beautiful it would be in the different seasons

I find myself content at the water’s edge
I have never felt so comfortable sitting on a ledge

Natures Love

Rain oh rain don't go away,
stay with me through all my days.
You cool my soul burning with rage,
and warm my heart with heavens rays.
The essence of life,
a gift so light.
In harmony with nature,
as the trees leaves capture,
my hopes and my dreams,
within the blue rain drops gleam.
The sound you make gives me some release,
from the worlds harsh reality's bringing me peace.
Rain oh rain don't go away,
Stay with me through all my day's.
In your down pour I simply meditate
I can feel it's love as it caresses my face.

With out rain what would we do?
What would we drink?
What about food?

Its helps us out
Every year
It grows our cotton
So we have something to wear

With out rain what would we do?
 Would we walk around naked?
 What about you?

Perfection in the Sky

Some days you see perfection in the sky
and it can bother you that that perfection
is not within you

Some days you look up to see dirty buildings and filthy air
and you wonder where the beauty is
and if it really still exists
and you realize the outside does not match the beauty
desired inside

Some days the sky is gray and rain falls in relief
And its in these days that you are in peace
because whatever hindrance that you keep pent up
is somehow comforted by the sky's release
And that part of melancholy
can just be

...And it is in these days
when you are wrecked and cloudy,
that particles of hope condense
ready to rain joy upon you,
because you know that in the morning
bright blue will once again gleam in your eyes
and the air will breath of relief
and rainbows will speak of the promise of life
and the perfection you see in the sky
will spill straight into your soul

the rain falls, dissonant at dawn,
clouds move overhead.
echoing the things you wrote
and of the things you said.

and as the forceful rain falls down
it comforts like a friend.
i love to hear the rhythmic sound,
it thrills me to no end.

so keep on falling from the sky
and nourish all that's real.
and i will marvel, lost in sound
and moments i can steal.

for in those stolen moments are
the wonder and the notion:
those raindrops will someday go far
and end up in the ocean.

and when i think raindrops can jaunt,
then i think: so can i.
it's then that i know what i want:
to travel through the sky.

i'll travel 'cross the country
till i reach my destination.
now that's the perfect plan for me,
a perfect revelation.

something tells me life awaits,
and living is for me,
i'll keep on going till i reach
a distant shining sea.

so when the rain falls
i recall all that for which i strive.
i can transport like the rain
and someday i'll arrive.

This is your time, Do you see that this is your time?
The rain has united with the sun and when it falls it shall bring water to the Earth.
The sun will cast colors as the rain falls.
The beauty that will be seen, will be across the sky.
Seems that the Birds would taste the sprinkles of the water,
as they pass the bright colors of the bow that is placed in the sky.
This is your time to shine.
The sky will unite with clouds, and cause an beautiful array, of whiteness, for all to see.
This is your time, to stand and be free.
The wind has united with the gentle breeze, this will cause the mixing of aroma that will ride along the gentle breeze.
The smell so free and sweet.
Twirl and swirl upon the warm breeze.
This is your time to breath. The air will be sweet, and damp.
This is your time, to dance.
The Earth will cause music to flow through the trees,
Can you hear the sound? Listen to all that is clean and new.
The uniting of nature, that is so crisp, it is safe here.
You will only be seen through the glass covered sky, Seen by his eye.
This is your time, Twirl, and dance, feel the earth between you toes. Twirl, sweetness.
Let, the woes, diminish. You are so beautiful here. So very lovely.
This is you, this is forever. You are united here, with your creator.
He can hear you without speaking. This is your time to smile.
This is your time to become who the Lord wants you to become.
Quietness, will fill your being, united. Peaceful and still. Let the wind
Blow through you. This is your time, So lovely so pure.

As it beat on my window pane
I hear the sound of the autumn rain
It is a indication of my pain
It falls from my sadden eyes
It also falls from the black skies
I hope it will rain tomorrow
It fills my day with an empty sorrow
When you see rain what do you think of
Do you dream your friend or a lost love
Nothing ever feels the same
Especially when you see and hear the rain
Have you noticed rain never quenches thirst
After the rain the sun appears first
When the sun’s rays pierce the sky
Birds in all their glory will fly

"Rain is nature's chicken noddle soup."

Old Man of The Land ( dedicated to Sid Grey born 19 ? died 1996 R.I.P )

When Sid first met me he laughed
Sat in his seat of an old Ford 135
Tractor red rust and wet sticking mud
Swathed in a great green rain coat
A friendly laugh he said
“Bet you wish you hadn’t come here now”

My first day working on his farm
I stood in the rain waiting
I must have looked a pitiful sight
He eyed me, but not unkindly
Removed a minuscule hand rolled cigarette
From the corner of his mouth
Peered at it
Then to my surprise stuck it back between his lips and lit it

Sid’s face had been carved from an old tree root
Looked as if he'd been born that way
Brown gnarled lined with years
Below grey brows his eyes smiled
Bright and clear

A dismal wet and mud plied day
Sid taught me how to coax his tractor
Through ruts and puddles of sticking clay
Next day we progressed to bigger wheeled monsters
Finally just five days after
I stepped up to the great green yellow John Deere

“There you go she’s all yours, patted the wheel
“Check the oil every day, the water, you know where to get your diesel
I thanked him
“Don’t thank me lad just make sure I get it back in one piece”

We worked together in the season passing
For six years at each seasons beginning
Found me there waiting

Wasn’t much for talking old Sid
Wasn’t much for working either
Between innumerable smoke breaks
Tea breaks, sandwich breaks, break breaks
And other breaks
The job was done on time

“There’s always time he’d say, if we don’t finish tomorrow
We’ll finish another day

A Sid break
Sid must've fancied a chat
Munching sandwiches
He patted the soil next to him
Like some beloved old sheep dog
“I love the land he said, worked on it all my life
This must’ve been true
He knew every solution to any predicament
Any job in motion could throw at you

“These days, he continued
People want to squeeze as much out of her as they possibly can,
Shook his head, no respect for the land;
You gotta look after her, don’t and the ground just dies;
Aint no use chucking all them chemicals on it,
You can’t feed it like that,
chewed on the butt of his cigarette
They’re gonna drain her dry someday.”

I nodded, no comment was needed or wanted
But to my surprise from the corner of his eye
The wet trickle of a tear

That was Sid Grey, old man of the land
Earth in his blood
Soil in his hand
A whole University of knowledge went lost unnoticed
The day he passed away

He patted the soil next to him
“I love the land, worked on it all my life
and with a chuckle he smiled
An’ I’ll be buried in it someday”

Planting Trees

When I first planted trees I thought it was for shelter
From the ocean gales blast, and the wild rain lashing rain.
I needed to help them, so I built up some fences.
I needed to feed them, and dug in some kelp.
The trees looked so weak, so fragile, so lonely
The trees were so small, but they grew.

Next year some had died, but most still grew bravely.
The gales blew again, the frost hard and deep.
I fussed and I worried, I planted where gaps came
I fretted and fiddled and firmed in loose roots
The trees bent with the wind, then straightened their backs up.
The trees drank from the rain, and they grew

Each year they grew on, and the next and the next one
The gales blew again, and the snows came and went,
I thought about training and pruned very gently
I did some light weeding, I mulched and I mowed.
The work was a joy, I loved to be round them.
And oft stood in silence, to think, as they grew

Now after some years there are trees all round me
The gales still blow hard, but the trees still grow on
I see the wind kiss them, and now hear them singing
I see the rain weeping, and now see them smile
They draw strength from each other with roots intertwining
And give back to me those rewards you can’t buy.

When I first planted trees I thought it was for shelter
They have given me that, and so very much more.
I planted my trees to find how to keep growing
I planted my trees to be brave in the storms
I planted my trees to cherish my loved ones
I planted my trees to make hearts smile and soar.
I planted my trees to give hope and redemption
I planted my trees to bring peace to my soul

Drip, Drop, Plop

With a Drip, Drop, Plop
The rain will sop
Upon a leaf they land
Then roll onto the sand
Absorbed by the ground
Prepares the next go round
It filters through the rock
All around the clock
The plants will seed
The living it feeds
Then onto the river it runs
Until evaporated by the sun
Into the air it mists
And gathers like a fist
In the shape of a big black cloud
Darkening like a shroud
Then BOOM it will fall
Covering one and all
And again the rain will sop
With a Drip, Drop, Plop

we look up in awe
the rain falls so loud
the thunder howls
the rain becomes showers
the thunder fails
and rainbow hails

A Rainy Autumn Day

                       The pine trees murmur
In the drizzle of a cool September rain
The sound of autumn drips from leaves
As the scent of winter is beckoning

Rains, Legends of the Wolves

Toddlers teeter on the hollowed trunks and sport with juts of ice. 'Cross boulder bridges, flouting rapids, hop the agile blond and beige. Yet in close chase, for or found, and on uneven ground, they’ll slip. Clots in black and rose bespatter tans and whites. Though clouds may cope the flights of cubs and fawns in torrents spirit laden, steps shan’t be erased, where o’er plight’s edge they’re furrowed. Would least the cliff lay lad to nestle upon drifts of pedals fallow or as cradled by green swaths of summer blades. For if to hope, the whelp when bade need but renounce a bed of clover, might a father’s beckon stern retrieve the slain. But scolds can echo no reprieve where o’er forever’s precipice the yearling brown has left the seasons scarlet stained. Though with the day’s advance, a glance would chance the fact all tracks do fade, in the havens gray, in every trace, we dawdle. It’s the cleft that blanched a mother’s face. Bereft, her tears are gained. And blood ‘s been shed till never, like the rains.

Song of the Rain

The rain fell down the rooftops
The children ran with glee
The rain kept on pouring
The frogs began to sing
The croaking just continued
The bathers danced in praise
The poet is singing
The rain is pouring still

The rain seems flowed down the street
Beyond the metropolis
It reached the far-off places
Fields filled with grain
The fields were quite muddy
The farmer rejoiced in the rain
While the prose is being written
To be told the next day

And the sky roared with thunder
The lightning burned the clouds
The poet, he is writing
Underneath this unsafe place
His mind is full of rain
Of frogs and happily
His quill and ink are flowing
Rain seems to be my glee

To Be Free

Hear the rain upon the window seal, See the flash of the lighting, Shutting my eyes to dream of Being that rain falling unto the soft soil below, Soaking into the ground flowing freely Throughout earth’s various underground destinations. Dreaming of being that lightning, Flashing so bright to light up the whole nighttime Sky, Striking down showing my Powerfulness letting it fade’ away with A ferocious bang leaving the ground shaking below me, Yes a dream it is to be that wonderful rain, Or be that magnificent lightning upon the dark blue sky. To wish to be every stormy night to come so I shalt know how it is, To become so free and let the world, see me for me.

Monsoon RIDE

Monsoon brings Ahhh, rain and cool and shade to me
In Desert heat.
Smiling, I await the treat
Lights flashing, thunder crashing
Dog cowers by my side.
I love the beat of thunder with
rat-tat-tat of rain.
I run outside with my arms flung wide
gathering cool raindrops on my hide.
Every year when weary of sun
blasting and searing,
it starts my yearning
for blessed monsoon
That lets my emotions Ride
wildly on Natures Tide. Lydia Brescia...2012

A Spring in a Glade

In a far off field are dark green blades growing and a lovely daisy nodding,
In a far off meadow a king-cup stands there, with a yellow primrose so fair,
In a far off glade there is green grass growing, there I will rest my feet,
A warm bright sun shines in the sky and a warm breeze closed my tired eyes.

The grass in the glade is sweet and long, softer better than any noble bed,
And the sweetness of the grass and the warm sun made me dream many dreams,
Then suddenly awakened by the low roar from from a waterfall from far away,
I realized it was raining and the noise is from a thousand drops on leaves.

Now standing under a tree the rain is soft and gentle, gracious and warm,
New life came into me as I stand beneath the oak listening to gentle winds,
The steady rain will wet meadows and mead's, down through cracks in the peat,
It will travel underground meeting other raindrops and flow as spring water.

Clear springs feeding the runners, swelling brooks make their way to rivers,
There are silver drops on the glades flowers and trees and far away is a rainbow,
The sun returns, the bright beams reflect off the wet grass as little prisms,
And a bine of crow's-foot entangled in the branch of an elder tree glistens.

Summer has Gone Away

Winter steals its unwanted self upon us and the sultry heat of forgotten summer is past,
Torrents of rain painful hail have battered away our fond warm memories of a summer day,
The pasture now cloying feted mud which were hard ridges that hurt unsuspecting ankles,
Now the cattle in the fields breath out great plumes of steam they stand in deep puddles.

The sweet air that was filled with scented wild flowers from the richest meadows has gone,
The rich green seas of swaying grass and mighty oaks that groaned in breezes is now bare,
Leafy masses and the refreshing voices of our summer birds both have been silenced or gone,
As the shadows grow longer earlier in the day and warm nights are just gloom the magic gone.

There is no warm glare when the sun does shine it is low it hurts your eyes we look away,
Cool moisture of the summer months were welcomed now the foggy damp is wet, uncomfortable,
The beauty of a sunny day stimulated every sense in our bodies now it stimulates the cold,
Vials of clouds scudding across blue skies stroked by nature now falls as rain sleet or snow.

Clouds like airy lengths of gossamer drapery amid the azure of the lofty immensity of the sun,
Are now black and shaped like a blacksmiths anvil flash with lightening with heavy wet winds,
Gone is the sunrise of brilliant days of the calmest and the most impressive beauty has died,
And the children of men scattered over our nation are not on fields nor hills they sit indoors.

It's so mild in the quite suburbs
with rain falling in October,
and unable to sleep, I face
insomnia for certain;
rain, keep on falling and let me hear
that steady, pelting sound on
the closed windows....a melody for
the saddest song should be written.

I must choose the right mood,
a minor scale to match this melancholy,
and a slow tempo growing into a crescendo,
and I could even throw in a scherzo;
and transport it with a C Major to smooth
some sadness out of the melody,
which tomorrow somebody
will hum, or whistle by learning the easy tune.

Hoping this song will be a hit,
thanks to the falling rain
in October for the sudden inspiration...
when I couldn't think of anything else!
Wishing the rain would stop at six,
so I could see the rising sun across
the eastern sky and listen to the lark
that built his nest under my windowsill.

It's past sunrise, and the shimmering clouds hesitate to leave,
and with nothing to look forward to... I must believe
that the rain falling in October,
can teach me the game of solitaire;
and pinned against my warm pillow,
I don't have anything to share but sorrow!
Flap your wide wings, friendly lark and repeat my song,
note by note; and without a lead sheet, I can't play it for very long...

Pretty Lady In Her Pink

            Pretty Lady In Her Pink

Rain drifted left to avoid the flower in the pink dress
The collision was inevitable though
Roots pulled at the wet drops like magnets in that direction
Nature does not think about such things
It drinks in life with a vengeance, tenacious, obstinate
Friendly tiny flower only wants the best
A simple drink to make it pretty
It yearns to be a gift for a young lady
Still virgin in her pink, in her nudity

When it Rain's

The rain has been my friend since I can remember.
Each droplet of water causing me to smile and feel loved.
For all my life the only person I had was me,
A friend was just another word for me to hate.

When I am sad no one is there to cheer me up,
When I need to be held no one is there to embrace.
I fear to be alone, because I am alone,
Just a waste of the existence I was gifted.

But when it rains everything washes away.
I can smile, feel numb even if it is just for an hour.
Some may think it's just water,
But to me it is so much more.

So as I sit, I let the rain consume me whole.
For that hour I will be in peace.
The smile on my face, the sadness in my heart
All means nothing; just a passing of time until I die.

As I lie here
Listen to the rain falling
All I can feel is alone
As I cry
I knew one day
I would find you
One day
I know you want to hold me
In your arms
Smiling across my face
I know your smiling too
You and I know that we
Belong together
The rain keeps falling
I will cry and remain alone

Flooding My Backyard

Daily I check out the backyard
To see if there is a lake there
After a good hard rain, natures card
Shows critically that it does not care
I often find about three inches
Of rain water gathered about
I wish the rain would finally pinch
And keep the rain from flooding out
It does not really reach the house
Nor does it ruin anything out there
The only thing that likes this, a mouse
Knowing that it is safe from fear
I hate it when it floods like this
The yard is in such a huge mess
It warrants a special solution, a kiss
To put a drain in the middle to rest
The ground from all the water
Now it flows right through the drain
And out into a field less wetter
And it will toss away previous pain

1st attempt at "Flowing water" contest...

Beat`en moans. ( from Tigers in my eyes.)

I watched as the great white tiger called Life looked down on those who feared
him on the ground,
from the cradle to the grave he hunts you, you live in his world in his jungle you
play his game,
you never know he`s coming , the great one never makes a sound,
you will fill his wrath, you will fill the pain,
Distant the orange tiger that has raced to Life for revenge licks his wounds from
the last time the two battled,
you see Life took it`s toll on Distant`s family he took them to the darkest of places
never killing them but leaving them wishing he did,
they didn`t fight back they accepted all Life gave which wasn`t much, a troubled
past, scares that branded them like cattle,
he watched as Life destroyed them one by one and when he did it to Distant, Life
never seen the fire in his eyes the fire Distant hid,
" To you and to you only I look to for revenge for purpose for meaning and a way
to get back all that you `ve taken," Distant roared,
as the rain fell Distant could smell Life he ran to the top of the hill thinking of the
tears his mother cried,
faster and fast, higher and higher he raced to the smell of the great one when he
reached the top the rain stopped and Distant roared,
Distant roamed in circles striking near by trees and stones,
not a sound from Life, just beat`en moans.

Was It An Act of God?

Catastrophes,natural disasters and torrential rains
what causes these thing to happen, on whom do you place the blame?
mankind has misused and abused this planet on which we live
Mother Nature must make adjustments, the forces of nature then give
we have built too many buildings, taken over too much land
an earthquake may be a realignment to the acts and plans of man

aerosol cans, rain forest diminishing, the erosion of the soil and ground
when the rain eventually falls the lack of trees causes the mud to slide down
God gave us some power, many have called it free-will
mankind can use it for good or he can use it for ill-will
yet when many lives are lost and so many souls depart
why does anyone think to ask, was it an act of God?

air pollution, water pollution, the whole industrial age
has ravaged our planet and brought about Mother Nature's rage
we act before we think, we destroyed things that can't be replaced
maybe Mother Nature is trying to tell us to do an about face
tsunamis, monsoons and all types of major tidal waves
may be a wake-up call to how we have behaved

we need to come together and start making some major plans
stop raping our natural resources and start preserving God's land
so if anyone ever asks you, was it an act of God the Lord Christ?
just ask them for this planet, what has mankind sacrificed?
we are selfish in our deeds, self-absorbed in our needs
eventually we must bear the blame and we all will pay the price
just don't be so quick to place the burden of guilt on God the Lord Christ

The Dust of God's Feet (Part II)

The waters flow. The land drinks. The pools are filled with the small
rain and the great rain of His strength upon the just and unjust. The earth brings
forth herbs meet for those who dressed it; receiving blessings from God with
fruitful seasons, our hearts are filled with food and gladness. This is His
witness. As He cuts a channel for the torrents and a path for the thunderstorm,
His doctrine drops as rain upon mown grass and upon the mountains that grass
may grow. His speech distils as dew into streams with goodness from the
morning cloud, and he even covers the bottom of the sea until the thick cloud is
wearied. The bright cloud is scattered, wherein the lord ascends. Fair weather
comes out of the north in golden splendor, as the tender grass springs out of the
earth by the bright shining after rain; on the good and evil His sun does shine.
So shall God come in awesome majesty with power and great glory will be
appear. His strength is in the clouds. Heaven is His throne and earth is his
Footstool. He will walk upon the wings of the wind in his faithfulness that
reaches as high as the clouds, and his favor is as a cloud of the latter rain to
provide food abundantly, the corn of Heaven, as did the former. And as many of
us who have partook of His bread shall be gathered into the harvest receiving a
blessing from God, being caught up in the clouds evermore to be with Him to
see Him as He is.

The Redest Popies

The corn now growing tall moving like an angry sea in a ferocious wind,
It rustles softly it is thrown back and forth by a warm billowing wind,
Rye is higher than my shoulders cerulean ears have long since been shot,
In the fields grow the reddest of red poppies they too sway in the wind.

Scarlet anagallis and the red of the cockle twinkling in the sharp sun,
With the rye cut the wild roses takes center stage and bows at the sun,
On sandy heaths the wind blows dust across the woods mead's and glades,
Thistle instead of wheat, cockles instead of barley in the sandy soil.

Black cloud as thunder rumbles it cracks loud across the darkened sky
Drenching rain pelts the ground and swells gentle rivers and streams,
The slow water now rushes picking leaves and wood on its furious way,
As the storm ends there is no smell like a soaked wood or wet field.

The black skies clear and a warm sun shines on the meadows and glades,
The thick dark green grass shimmers in the breeze in a warm bright sun,
Droplets sparkle like diamonds hanging from a copse of ancient lime trees,
The rain in the dark green grass is like a kaleidoscope of a tiny rainbow.

A Storm in my Ming

Lightning cracked the sky and thunder rumbled, rain lashed and all was dark,
A terrible storm but the heat is not cooled and hot fetid air remained stale,
Thunder was my loss, and heat was my anger, of a very dear lifelong friend,
The rain was my tears falling from swollen eyes I stood alone in my darkness.

Heavy steel black clouds scudded across skies and viciously poured cold rain
Air became rancid and a new wave of anger etched into my dark heart and soul
A loss too hard to face as the thunder cracked my mind was in a place so dark,
By a quiet garden where bodies lay I cannot remember any happiness of my past.

No more happy greetings no more joy in thinking no more joy in anything at all,
A wasted friend in a wasted world a dark frightening place to live in all alone,
Trying to sleep through nights sliding hours the longest night hours ever known,
Thinking of meadows, beautiful boiling streams my darkest thoughts always return.

Walking together down long winding paths but now I cannot see any beauty anymore,
Those happy times we had no longer exists, as happiness is an emotion for fools,
There is a flaming coal inside my head it has scorched and burned sweet memories,
All that is left is hatred anger and revenge with wretched pictures from the past.

Spring Rain

Spring rain keeps falling
Can you hear the grass calling?
Please rain on me
So I can be as lush as I can be

Spring rain keeps falling
Can you hear the flowers and trees calling?
Please rain on me
So I can grow to be as big as I can be

Spring rain keeps falling
Can you hear the gardeners calling?
Rain on my veggies for me
So they can grow as succulent as they can be

Spring rain keeps falling
Can you hear the ordinary folk calling?
Please stop raining on me
So the summer will be the best that it can be

Spring rain keeps falling
Can anyone hear me calling?
Please don’t fall on me
So I can stay as dry as I can be

Have you ever looked up and wondered why?
That the clouds floating high in the sky
Seem to know your emotions as they fly by.

Like when you loose a loved one which makes you sad and cry
They rain non stop and it seems they’ll never run dry.
Or when you’re lonely unloved, feeling blue,
They tend to stay grey and not rain is it just me or is it true?

Sometimes you don’t seem to care any more,
They float in cotton balls on the winds at heaven’s door
But when you happy, joyous and full of play
The sun tends to shines because the wind has blown them away.

Next time look up and see if it’s true
When you happy, crying or just feeling blue.

Canopy Sky Walk

The rain forest mists
Drift in their time
Leaving moisture so pure
On nature sublime

In collective gather
On the canopies of green
As i walk through these mists
All around me scene

I stand there and listen
To natures sounds
Howlers and Toucans
In communication abound

My hands brush a leaf
And there's a scurry of legs
Like neighbourhood chaos
In books i have read

I close my eyes for a moment
A brief in my time
But when nightfall beckons
This is their prime

Through the rain forest mists
I am privileged to see
These wondrous creatures
No pressure, so free

Deepest violet and blue
to show
Orange and yellow too
Colour bright
The children of the light

Falling rain so
Falling colour so................

Golden sun,
falling rain
This magic,
becomes bright
Children of the light,.............
to reveal colour heaven

Red and green arcing too
Circle of seven
Joined to make white
Bright light
Combined through
this colour heaven

Children of the light
Rainbow bright

Rainy Mornings wont get me up..

Wakin up with a breath of sweet cool air,
On which the sounds of rain tide and tear,
Wide awake and nothing to share.

Peering out the clear glass,
I see the graceful rain simply pass,
Just as the swaying green grass.

Pull on warm leg out,
Then the other just to shout,
Too cold it is, no doubt.

Put on some cozy slippers,
With the cutest silver zippers,
I feel the power ten times the shippers.

Dress myself with fine play clothes,
Only to fall on the couch and doze,
When all of the sudden the wind arose,

Static jump,
Then a fearsome thump,
I was nothin more than a grump.

Went back to sleep,
Only to once again leap,
Hey, it's only mom in the Jeep!

Deciding to greet,
I get up to my feet,
With rhythm and a funky little beat.

But whats that outside,
No rain to abide,
I run out there and catapult down my silly kid's slide.

Warm rain gushes from the bright sky,
to free all clouds of their heavy weight
and nourish everything below...
even the dry beak of a sparrow;
we didn't ask for it and yet
it came unexpectadly
to end our physical thirst...
another reminder of mercy!

The thirsty crows invade
the drenched meadows,
once so dried-out and yellowed,
to resemble an arid desert;
water sustains life on this planet...
and allowes the low rivers to overflow
when winter can't bring any snow; all hope useless?

There'll be lots of beautiful flowers this spring,
even those silent bells will joyfully ring;
a brighter sun will radiate...
illuminating our path until evening:
so much joy in our singing,
a perfect time to meditate!

Warm rain gushes from the bright sky,
surprise sparkles in the unbeliever's eyes;
doubts make us unhappy and weak...
considering the dark side of things!
Vision makes us soar above the awesome stars,
while despair causes our souls to die!

Rain, rain come and stay
go away another day…

My garden is dry and flowers
 are dying…

The creeks, rivers and lakes
 are drying…

Rain, rain come to stay you
can leave another day…

Water my garden, fill
 the creeks, rivers and
lakes again…

Autumn In The Rain

Here in the east
The rain is a beast...
Fortunately the flowers
Don't know and continue
To smile
Chrysanthemums are
On parade
Why should they be afraid
Of heavy rains pouring down,
So what if all else drowns...
Autumn rain has come to stay
At least for one more day.

Dust Bowl

Dust covers the land,
     as a blanket does
       a sleeping soul.

Clouds gather in their
fluffy rows to bring
the long over due rain.

A quite stillness
covers the land
as it does before the storm.

Silence is broken as
the mighty thunder
calls out to nature.

A falling rain drop
kissing the dry earth,
         so gently.

The heavens are opened
and the rain descends
like a falling star.

Soaking up the rain drops
       such sweet bliss
the land has enjoyed this day.

a gift , a curse

the sun beams its beautiful warm rays down onto us . ask nearly
anyone, what their favorite weather is , sunny would be the answer.
every plant , animal and human needs the sun ... and enjoys it so.
strange how something so crucial , can also cause cancer .

the wind feels fantastic , on a sunny day . nothing feels better
than a much needed breeze , while catching rays , lying on a beach towel .
cruising the boulevard , hair blowing in the wind . buildings crumbling
over into the streets , homes losing their structure ...a terrifying howl .

enjoying a brisk drive through the countryside . gorgeous , natural
landscaping , outlining the rural roads . rain falling , rainbows, stunning hues,
a soft wind . water feeds the plant life , drenching the soil . the blacktop
becomes slick , tires slide .... horrible crunching , screams ... death ensues .

drink in hand , walking after a quiet rain , taking advantage of the fresh air.
darkness begins to fall over the sky . feelings of being watched , haunt her
imagination . a short cut , through an alley , proves fatal . two men
approach ...demanding money . the brutal attack ... she could not deter.

the most natural thing in the world , some would say . two warm bodies
entwined , kissing , caressing , expressing deep desires , anything to please.
seamingly melting in each others arms , leaves them wanting more . at
the time , never considering , death from a venereal disease .

They came in by the thousands and landed
 on the gleaning grassland...
to take a bath in the spring rain so scented,
and they don't seem, the least, bothered;
by the raindrops falling at a regular interval,
uncompromising and felicitous, as if that
is sufficient for their thirst...
their instinct was a distant call!

These transient birds with colorful plumage,
bath in puddles not so deep;
by the the green ridge, I watch them indulge
in their frantic behavior as they seep
the pounding rain like a desert traveler
who has run out of drinking water!

The wheezeeing bees
twirl in an attempt to surround them,
but they chase them away with grim...
as they flap their wet wings;
not far off, in the pine grove with fallen logs,
shrikes are encircled by wild dogs
that crave tender and delicious meat...
a pursue ending in defeat!

They are gone to northern fertile lands...
sunnier and greener than this ranch;
where they can easily find their food
without having to worry and search...
a kind of haven to last three seasons!

Rain on a Tin Roof

Sheets and bolts of distant lightning
Backdropped by a blue gray sky
Rumbling thunder softly, deeply
As the steady pitter patter, pitter patter
Of rain on a tin roof fluctuating
Playing symphonies to the soul
With natural melodic choruses
And invitations to the Ancient dance
Of wind-driven clouds sweeping low
Whirling visions and peace of mind
To a captive audience within
Letting down their windows
Falling, lying with ears to the floor
As the rain echoes throughout the house

Memories We Made

Laughter about us
While the children play
The sunshine has faded
The sky turned grey

An innocent child
Out in the rain
Sounds of a distant
Yet inbound train

These are the things
Of a neighborhood park
With playground and benches
Tables and basketball court

A dog walks his owner
Gentle rain subsides
Still behind the clouds
The sunshine hides

No one is leaving
Due to this spring shower
Drops of water
Collect on the flowers

As day turns to night
The rain comes to a stop
A child tells his father
“Daddy, you rock”

Headed home from the park
After a long day
Loving the memories
That our family made

Rain n Snow

Rain is just a crying sky
Clouds full up
And then they sigh
At what evaporates before their eyes
Rain is just a crying sky

Snow is just frozen tears
Derived from hopelessness and fears
Wind blows tears from the rain
But then they fuse to ease the pain

Life is full of rain and snow
Rain that comes and rain that goes
Dropping fast and floating slow
Life is full of rain and snow

Smell the Rain

I smell the rain
When settled dust
Upon a field of flowers
Dances in the four winds,
And moist air encircles me.
I see the rain
Like a man's fist
On an outstretched arm
Rolling back its sleeve.
As it swings with strength,
I hear the rain.
The thunder rolls;
Light crackles and flashes
In the distance; from above,
When I cannot escape,
I feel the rain
Soaking into my clothes;
As I run for shelter
Under the rickety porch,
Breathless, at its cedar post
I taste the rain
In coupled hands.
As it streams down
The weathered tin roof
In veils of cascades,
I know the rain
Will wash away the dust
And paint the earth and sky
With puddles and bows;
When the storm breaks,
I love the rain.

Rain Dance

Darken cloud heavy
Full of rain,
Rain flooding the roads,
Flooding the streets,
Water running playing a
Rain dance song,
Keeping its rhythem
Against my window pane
Sounding like a drum,
Wind whistling
Trees dancing in step
With the beat,

The tall blue grass swaying
As the rain band played
His song,

The sea shore played
Rushing waves upon the
Keeping in tune as the
Drummer play,

The rain band play for
Hours on end...
Thick dark shadows
Cast silhouettes
Doing the boogie lou..

Enjoying this great party
Jamming in the sky,
All the clouds are here
Staying with the beat!
Rain, rain the cloud shadow
Lets party way on over
Into the night...

I'm having such a good
I hate to stop my trend..

The lightning is awsome
Throwing out his light
Striking through the

The thunder did roar
Loud on time..
Poppin fingers,whipping
Around the tree branches
Taking the show..

Lets jam jam jam
Keep this party rolling
Rolling "til"tomorrow

I remember when I was small,
playing in the rain and loving it all.

I loved the feeling of rain running down my face,
The sound was relaxing.

I dreamed of this place.

rain drops.

rain drops that fall for thee,
 and six
merely a temporary fix,
drops that washed away what I couldn't find,
and twelve
rain drops when were needed... fell,
turned the ground green,
funny how rain drops set you free,
from nineteen
to twenty
I see to many rain drops to count
like the tears that fall from me.

Places I go when it rains

The rain sounds soothing as it hits it's destination.
Taking my mind to a place of nothing but relaxation.
Though the looks of the rain is some what a mess,
taking me back into a place of stress.
Puddles of mud every where in sight,
leads me into a dark gloomy night.
Closing my eyes to return to that one place.
I now again rain drop at a steady but soothing pace.

Either the rain comes or snow,

Maybe, only tears have fallen?

The eyelashes of the rivers fly up, having shuddered,

A forest awakens, rustles and starts to fuss.

Ah, what mad show begins around!

The fir trees dance together with birches in one circle,

there is sob of the rivers, and there is laughing of the streamlets here.

No, it is not the rain and not the snow,

The person has come to the person,

under the gaze of all nature!

The Storm

In the distance a soft but constant thunder roars
Black clouds slowly approach as if to invade the sky
The falling sun gives out one last flare before it sinks into its perennial grave
Summoning the moon for its nocturnal awakening
Shadows bleed through the decaying sky in an attempt to take it over for the oncoming night
Water begins to fall from the heavens above
By now the thunders tremble have greatly enhanced
And the violent flashes of light have joined the ongoing storm creating an orchestra of
light and thunderous rumbles
Quickening in pace, the roars become louder and more hostile
Sending ferocious streaks across the sky
As each bolt strikes the pounding rain can be seen
Now firing down like angry spears ready to pierce the ground
The wind now joins in on this harmonic symphony blowing with almighty power
Then a sudden stall... and the wind goes dull
And the rain slows to a drizzle
The thunder and lightning vanish almost as if a great unknown power hath slain it
The clouds roll aside revealing a full and calm glowing orb.
The final sign of an overwhelming peace
The last of the night rests in silence.
