Lonely Dreams

I never knew following dreams could be this lonely,
But up on the hill, looking back, thank God I'm not the old me.
If the tears will fall, let them be;
I believe this is God's plan, follow your dreams.

Pledge of love and loyalty

This pledge that l,Ntando, make today serves
as my guideline that I shall follow
happily, ungrudgingly and tirelessly
for the sake of our love life.
Indeed l am well aware of the fact that
the beauty of this pledge does not only lie
in word alone but in action as well.

For that reason in every season
I shall show steadfast commitment
to the implementation of this pledge
with a great deal of astuteness.
I therefore commit myself to be your
devoted and delivering husband for
all the years l shall live with you
on this earth.

I shall treat you with the love and care
you deserve as my wife.
Indeed l shall treat you with
the distinction and dignity
that is befitting of the queen of my heart.
That body, that bone, that breath
shall be my mine to treasure,
for sure;
a dearness to promote and protect
for dear life…and love!
I shall stand by and with you in all the
situations of our life.
If the situation demands that we sail,
sail we shall together.
If the situation demands that we
climb,
climb we shall together.

I know very well what l am getting into:
I am getting into a marriage that is
overflowing with blessings.
This marriage- with our mutual
commitment-
will stand the test of time.
I know very well what I am getting into:
I am getting into a relationship that
brims over with a transforming power
of love.

This marriage-with our
mutual commitment –
will transform naivety into maturity
troubles into challenges
pretence into practice
pride into progress
bachelorship into companionship.
I pledge to be your steward and partner
for all times.

I shall value the consultations
and decisions that we make as
husband and wife.
As head of the family I shall do nothing

to derail our love train for anything else
least of all for personal and selfish reasons.
Now and forever

I am your lawful and loving husband…
This pledge that l, Nothando, make today serves
as my guideline that I shall follow
happily, ungrudgingly and tirelessly
for the sake of our love life.
Indeed I am well aware of the fact that
the beauty of this pledge does not only
lie in pronouncements but in practice
as well.

For this reason every season
I shall demonstrate untiring love
and loyalty to you;
a love and a loyalty that is a living
embodiment of our marriage vows.
I therefore commit myself to be your
honouring, supportive and loving wife
for all the years l shall live with you.
I shall treat you with the love and care
that you deserve as my husband.
Indeed I shall treat you with
the dignity and nobility that is befitting
of the king of my heart.
On my mind it is always fresh
that I am the flesh of your flesh.
Green or grown

I am the bone of your bone.
I know very well what I am getting into:
I am getting into a relationship that
elevates me into a kingdom of wifehood.
I shall endevour to put my family first
with all the rights, obligations
and privileges that come with wifehood.
I shall endevour to wipe off and ward off
loneliness and lostness from our relationship,
seeking nothing but your companionship;
banking on your stewardship,
sinking together any hardship.
Since you are mine
I shall not do anything else to undermine
our relationship for personal
or egotistical
reasons.
Now and forever
I am your lawful and loving wife…

OUR LOVE

(Groom speaks...)
In this world are things to contemplate.
Therefore, life can be complicated.
Stairs we must climb to overcome conflict.
Heaven is an open door of realities.
As my adoration of you is metaphoric,
I am blessed that you feel the same.
We are together as one.
Our passion flows.
Our ardor is aglow.

(Bride speaks...)
In this life are confrontations.
We must address our demons to form our inner being.
Nothing is more than the characteristic of self-worth.
I see yours darling and it is me.
May I be shallow in the passion I feel?
I adore you.
I am yours.
Let’s share this with the world.

(Groom speaks...)
I asked you to marry me.
You said yes.
My head start spinning.
I felt the depth in my chest.
Our marriage vows have been written.
Our big day has come.
I am your man.
You are my woman.

(The Groom says his written vows.…)
Complicated the world may be.
Our time together will be cherished by the passion we feel.
You are my paradise and my sunshine.
I am yours until the end of time.
Our life, as one, is intertwine with all aspects.
As a tree grows, so does our lust.
As a river flows, so does our thirst.
As a meadow brooks the crows, so does our fascination accept our conundrums.
I will ardor you forever.

(The Bride says her written vows.…)
Complicated the world is.
Our time together we cherish.
You are my sunshine and my paradise.
I am yours until the end of time.
Our life, as one, interweaves.
Life aspects will challenge each.
Our fervor defeats all our troubles.
As landscape flourish, so does our lust.
As lea bravado, so does our thirst.
As a meadow brooks the crows, so does our infatuation withstand any rival.
Our ardor is dominance.
Our ardor is exuberance.

(Bride speaks...)
I adore you my man!

(Groom speaks...)
And I, adore you my woman!

(Music continues to play in the background until the symphony ends.)

Goodbye, My Child

Where cradled canyons sing
Of ebony wood in the forest
There lies a gurgling spring
Where cockcrows sing their chorus
To the melody of singsong birds
There I’ve concealed my sensuous words
Filled with befitted signs
The saccharine whiff of my designs

Come to me my mortal youth
To the wild realm of your truth
Where nymphs and gnomes abound
For the earth is filled with weeping
And only your tears be found

Where the fogs of night are fountains
Spills of glistened moon ignite
By distant silhouette mountains
We dance with passion of fight
Entwining ancient stance
Mingling hand in hand we dance
Till the mountains smile on high
Near and far we spring
To pursue the realest of dreams
While the world cries at its seams
Anxious in trouble to cling

Come to me my mortal youth
To the wild realm of your truth
Where nymphs and gnomes abound
For the earth is filled with weeping
And only your tears be found

To where the ridges merry make
From the beaks of wooden bright
In sparkly pools the ghouls awake
That scarce to stir our night
We watch for seekers down under
Muttering secrets in their soul
We bid them lucks of shivers
Dipping gently in
From reeds that hide a tear of a foal
Under the gentle rivers

Come to me my mortal youth
To the wild realm of your truth
Where nymphs and gnomes abound
For the earth is filled with weeping
And only your tears be found

Far away she shall ever churn
The taciturn eyed
She’ll listen no more to turn
To the working mills beside
Or the scrubbing of the barn
May peace weave in her song
She shall wave in the yarn
To a haven known as Belong

Come to me my mortal youth
To the wild realm of your truth
Where nymphs and gnomes abound
For the earth is filled with weeping
And only your tears be found

For she comes, the mortal youth
To the wild realm of her truth
Where nymphs and gnomes abound
For the earth is filled with weeping
And only her tears be found

Dancing in the Rain -- ALS

Sitting in a house . . . a home
Across from a husband and a wife

I look at her
Saddens fills the orbs of her dark eyes
Her breathing short . . . shallow inhalations
Panic and fear waiting to pounce
My heart pleads for her . . . be strong

I look at him
His eyes bright . . . projecting confidence, love
Strapped into his wheelchair
This once mighty man
Is trapped in a body that betrayed him

I close my computer
Finished . . . dreams shared
Hope and desires expressed
A way forward captured
Time for me to go . . .

But the questions remain
Life . . . Death . . . Why?
Why him?
His family?
Why?

I hear strokes on a keyboard
A mechanical voice vibrates from small speakers
“May I pray?”
This broken man is not done
I close my eyes feeling the moisture leaking out

“Greet each day with a smile”
“Dance in the rain”
“Embrace love and rejoice”
“Be strong and fear not”
“There is victory over death”
“Life . . . Eternal life!”

This broken man with the unbroken spirit
Is ministering to me, to his family
Dying but still concerned for the living
What an incredible love, a powerful faith
Living and dying well

Listening to his typing, I realize . . .
I have no power over the eternal questions
Of life . . . of death . . .
But God does
This limitation of my humanity is NOT
So I can wallow in despair – NO!
But so I can hope in God!

Thank-you my dear friend
I will never forget you
Your words of hope and love
Your faith
Dancing in the rain.

Note: My friend died six months after this meeting.

A Single Soul Cries Out

A Single Soul Cries Out

Across this barren lake my ghost did sail
lost and heading straight into another hell
Behind, remnants of a dark and wayward past
treasures stored that shall never last

Sunny skies ever looking down upon me
joined by those memories soul sought to flee
No wind to send my ghost sailing right along
on the shore images of a faceless throng

So far ahead a welcoming sandy white beach
forever racing farther and farther from my reach
No deeds to perform to gain my deep reprieve
only memories of those I so easily did deceive

Within this lonely lake a single Soul cries out
forgive me , forgive me , in a wailing shout!

Robert Lindley

note: Once a man raced about all alone,
stumbled upon a rolling stone,
fell into a headlong dismay,
gathered the courage to just pray,

Words that did by faith then atone,
soon the condemnation was forever gone..

WHEN I LOVE THEE

I LOVE THEE I am no voluptuous beauty nor do I live a life of purity I can only say: I love wholeheartedly with all I am so truthfully I keep my heart open though it gets hurt so often I avoid to be irate as I know love changes the heart rate.. Guys tried to coo and woo, they say words as for "only you" Yet, hard to believe it is true as I see some untrue I give chances as my heart marks with tact entrances I learned from various instances looking man in romances In places where rules impede, two persons who wants to bid Not of money but of affection, in them must be determination I love thee not of what you have… Not even of who you are but to how you are to me… If I love you, don't tell me much what to do… As me, myself will show you, I am that real and true.. Yes, I am liked by many but tell you what: I don't like this honey nor am I proud of it in anyway One is enough to make me stay Stand with me through it all, I give my best not to fall My name your sweetest call echoing in every wall.. Hold me firm yet dear; allow me to move closely We'll make it anyhow, treading smoothly on flows... We are strong, aren't we? No one moving alone Together we'll face phases in tune, though there will dunes.. ________________________________________________________ © OLIVE ELOISA D. Flawless You

I am in your arms tonight
Can you feel me there?
All I am is breaking,
And I need your heart to hold

Together let us search through the rubble
To find treasures others would be blind to
I know that if I search with you
We will find happiness
We will find that love is kind
Your strength...I need it now
My words are running cold
Please hold,
Please hold me now

I have lost a soul I cannot bear
I have lost a part of me in a tumultuous sea
Of anger, misunderstanding and sadness...

As all of reality fades into us,
I ask you to show me your deepest side,
Your most beauteous light
So when I close my eyes in this fantasy
I will see beyond the pain
Beyond me
And into flawless you

Heart Washed Ashore

Heart Washed Ashore “The sun of my reason has set. My thoughts have set sail and My heart was washed ashore last night. Take me to the bottom of the ocean. There, I will build you a sandcastle.” I asked you to bring me something from your memories. You brought me all the stars in the Universe; You brought me their gleam, their glimmer. And I, I stood there consumed by their warmth. In that moment, I realized that you will always love me more. I waited for the dewdrop to come home; But you painted for me dark blue skies and thunder. The clouds brought me to you and I stayed; I stayed Because there was no part of me that hadn't felt the rain. In that moment, I realized you were my comfort; my ease. I stretched out my hand to touch that petal. And you flooded me with peaches and flowers, You made me believe in Orange trees and destinies; I watched our euphoria take over my dreams. In that moment, I realized that you were my escape. I let myself fall asleep on your lap and heard our time tick away. I guessed correctly then, that Time would be our antagonist. And I must say, she played it quite well. I couldn’t feel the scent of your laughter anymore. In that moment, I realized that I had already lost you. I'm sorry I let my mind strike those words out; I hadn't realized that they were stories from another world; I hadn't realized that I was erasing your dream. I'm sorry I didn't even feel the heat of your fire; I was so consumed in mine. Think of happy places, happy people; they said. But in all my thoughts, I saw myself with you. You are my happiness. The period I refused to place. You are the ink-spot that refused to wash off. Come be my snowfall again; I promise I won’t hurt the flakes. Our yesterdays were so beautiful. Oh yes, they were! They've held most of our smiles and best of our memories. Frightened at the sight of our dreams coming true I don't want our tomorrows to meet. So hold my hand one last time and wish me a Good Life. Let our destinies lay buried under the shade of our Orange Tree.

I'm my Daddy Made Over

Dedicated to my Dad Jerry W. Niday 3/20/1952 - 6/18/2013

I am who I am because of him
He’s the reason for my son’s name
He gave me my courage & my strength
To stand tall even when standing wasn’t easy
Stand for the ones who can’t
To think and fend for myself
I’m my Daddy made over

Taught me to fight back
To never back down
How to pick myself back up
When I’ve been knocked down
Fight for what I believe
I’m my Daddy made over

He gave me my stubbornness
Gave me my pride
Gave me my temper
Taught me not to take crap
To speak my mind no matter who
Work for what I want
I’m my Daddy made over

How to keep my emotions in check
How to handle large amounts of pain
When in trouble he always had my back
He knew how my mind worked better than anyone
I got it from him
I’m my Daddy made over

Even though he’s gone
I’ll stand and continue on
I may stumble I may fall
May even get hurt along the way
But I’ll pick myself back up
I’ll dust myself off and stand tall
I’m honored and proud to say
I’m my Daddy made over

The Hypocritical Christian

I am the hypocritical Christian.
I say I follow Christ,
But I'm still consumed by my demons.
I go to church on Sunday,
But I refuse to invite someone back.
I want to serve on mission,
But I'm too afraid to act.
They think I read The Bible,
But I just fall asleep in it.
They think I'm positivity and smiles,
But underneath I'm death and addictions.
They think I'm clean and pure,
But I'm broken and mistaken.
I say I'm not worthy of His love,
But Jesus will never let me be forsaken.
I pray long prayers,
But inside they're empty repetition.
It might look as if my faith is strong,
But my core is too easily shaken.
I say the things I'm supposed to say,
But don't follow His actions or obey.
I speak the truth the church wants to hear,
But deep inside on matters I don't know what to believe.
I walk in shame as if I'm not good enough
To be loved by God and saved through Christ,
But there is nothing I could ever do to earn His peace;
It's a free gift.
I accept;
Now forgiven, changed, and released.
Thank You God,
Thank You Jesus,
Thank You Holy Spirit!
In Jesus' Holy Name,
We pray,
Amen!

For those who have considered suicide when who they are is not enough

For the days when your skin feels inadequate
And you want to escape from it
When you've scrutinized every fiber of your being & want to trade in your reflection
When you don't look right juxtaposed next to the picture of that model
They tell you your skin is too dark to be anything pretty
And you're the guy in third block with the funny-looking glasses, the no-name brand clothes who loves to learn
Keeps to himself, never bothers anyone
But everyone bothers you
the girls don't pay attention to you except for a joke
And everybody cackles
jackals tear pieces out of you
For amusement
Fist strike, blood runs
Eyes are red like stop signs,
But can't slow down tears as they speed down your cheeks
For the lonely times
When you can't find friends
In the classroom, hall, or your home
The times when your body, walk, slang, & style don't fit in and they tell you to cut yourself down to match a space in their jigsaw
"Be like everyone else"
Finding yourself in a world full of Viceroys
Imitations of Monarchs
society calling you caterpillar because you have yet to metamorphous into these half-clones they have never eaten the scales of King Billy but poisoned their originality all the same
And they want you to do the same
Camouflage colors and blend in
Nobody likes an outsider, and everybody's scared to be one
Some are cowards. Afraid to be by themselves
They want to fit in and be secure with undercurrents of self-consciousness
And be appeasing
Looking to others to feel justified in what they do, how they look, who they are
They can't stand alone
And for the times when you feel like an outcast
When you find disgrace looking in the mirror
And feel you deserve what they give you for simply being
Remember to be lion
Be a lion with no pride, but have pride all the same
Pride in yourself, how you were made
Be courageous, mighty, and strong
Even when you're walking by yourself
Strut with your head held high
Speak as boldly as a roar against the evening sky and proclaim your existence
Make everything feel your presence
Let them know that you can stand alone because you have no fear
Make everything in the room quake & wonder at how you could be yourself so boldly and have no shame
Stalk the earth like you are entitled to it and refuse to hide
Hug yourself late at night when you have to
Fight when you need to
Let nobody drag you through the mud
Command respect
And love yourself enough not to accept anything less than what you really deserve
Because you deserve so much better

Serendipity Of Souls

Revealed in that ancient place
where roses become stone and lips dry as dead bone,
the ruins of love my home, hopeless heart shown damp as sorrow known,
rubble etched with tears of deceased romance, a barren face,
my hourglass of power tilted by a hand rough as sand,
body aching for velvet confection, soul suplicant for a loving land,
age dulling the dream for a companion champion, stifling the search,
venturing daily into the world of common hazard and animal angst
standing, fighting, surviving and creating alone, an eagle with no nest,
the sky infinite in distance, sea always pushing my vessel back to fortified beach,

Unexpected like beauty in hunting eyes
you arrived in my life's arena like a veteran of volatile virtue,
speaking as if prepared to die for desire, moving with mischevious fire,
you were my vulnerable Angel, most passionate pulse with carnivorous cries,
we consoled one another when truth seemed cold and trust had narrow view,
offering me the pinnacle pleasure of a Lady's plush rush, I became the love rider,
your flesh, a sanctuary of sexual salvation, your blood, the spirit of immortal rose
Divine Intervention guided you to me, and I to you, together the meaning of love grows

Omens Outlived

With a voice ornamented in ogled tension
you ask me,
like vulnerable flesh queries warm obsession,
Do you mean to love me this way...
on your mouth, a hold of hope I see
to you I say...
Does the sun choose to flare into sapphire atmosphere,
Does the moon decide who's eyes to enchant,
Does a rose ponder its tempt,
Does a man dare his heart relent,
Does a woman wonder whence came her allure and dare,

A heatwave of heartache's swelter swells over your soul
as the outcry of orgulous omens try to defy our survival,
blood drops fall lonesomely from the old body of a lark
a steeple bell broken by the thunder of sorrow in the dark,
gold found burning into rivulets reaching into graveyard rock,
you begin to weep
because the weight of worry waylays your wishes for our eternity,
I surround you with a love shield that shames the arrows of agony
kissing you softly deep,
then I tell you that fate is not our enemy,
don't you understand my Lady...
Sultans cannot buy or sell the feelings we share,
Emperors unable to enforce the silence of our hearts,
rivals are but ridiculous in attempt to dowse our flame,
Time be trite in march against the magic in our care,
the poetry of our purpose will not be censored by cynical marks,
emotions erratic in wrath will not wrest the roots from which our passion came -

Destiny's Clutch

The dawn spoke her name like a silken secret
carried carefree by the tradewinds of lust and larceny
imported from the traderoutes of paradise and pandemonium,
sequined with violet venom she venerates the virtue of volition
her love is unlawful, unequalled in unrest, righteous in conquest,
tender in temptation, torrid your surrender, her beauty a will bender,

Queen of Empire Passion, warrior unknown to submission
her kingdom was not inherited, glory and throne ungifted,
the treasures, stables and territories, battles and crown all won,
rich in intellect, endowed with rare resources, affluent in original passion
bejeweled in natural beauty, she bewitches beasts and men alike,
Poets pen her preciously as Woman Total, Priests implore her pardon,
male servants pander to her anger and ardor, satisfaction she commands,
Sisterhood the symbol and soul of her mission,

I was just a man, a wanderer wading through her reign,
from the unsubdued North I came, a curious traveler with ancient name,
my tribe unfamiliar, underestimated, a Chieftain of steady pulse,
tresspassing towards her roots my aim was direct knowledge of her
woman of renown cunning and learning, woman of exotic ability,
seeking teaching and romance, though I would not be her Subject or victim,
this she knew, this she abhorred, a challenge to her dominance,

I agreed to meet her alone in the open morning of war,
in an abeyounce of gliding fire she comes riding out of the sun
regalia of black roses against red tears flying above her shoulder,
our horses begin a battle tromp, breaths heavy with moist mania
she has leopards in her eyes
poinsettias and death's palms painted on thighs,
scalps of exlovers and enemies slung on sadle
we acknowledge one another with ritual yell
I exclaim, Warrior Poetess, she screams Poet Warrior!
dismounting with mutual vigor our combat erupts
cutting my cheek with her blade's lip
kicking me in the ribs
I clinch her collared throat
and heel trip us to the ground
she snarls, I growl,
a glimpse of rescue in eachother's eyes -

Moments In Time

The sweetest sounds of burning trees
A gentle stroking in the breeze
The calm has lasted past the storm
Cloudy visions, Satan’s roar
Too many sights have passed my way
A time found only in the haze
The softest screams are running bare
My aching bones creak as I stare

You walk a distance towards me
The fall’s eternal, can’t you see?
I’m a memory in your heart
I whisper to you in the dark

The battle’s started at the end
No one is coming to repent
The sinners grab their wine from prey
No judgment calling here to stay
The sport is reckless to be told
The one is laughing at his souls
It falters nowhere to be sure
The power grows forevermore
Like a spirit in the wind
I have no say in where you’ve been
But cross the line to come to me
And pay the price for ecstasy

You walk a distance towards me
The fall’s eternal, can’t you see?
I’m a memory in your heart
I whisper to you in the dark.

Deeply Hurt Love

Feet not up yet dreaming looking into the deep distant horizon screams
need to take turf in remembering howls across oceans mourning dream special wish

You would want a good fire tonight for sure ice stormy fierce cold cutting
out walking giant waves hitting of the shore thundering pounds lashing clash

Today the wind fairly woke me up piercing wide eye opening vision
Then when I got home just felt ten years younger alive again one storm

Now that's a good omen laughing to myself carries one to the high Heavens
Must be the salted spray love mixed with sea mist smashes you to the ground love

New therapy go out to the sea front as gales howling with angry force break news
blowing giant waves crashing heavy of cliffs thundering roars echoes inside sad

Wind spitting sea salt sand peppering the face in your hardened heart
hate remains your driving engine unforgiving hung up on the past

A Soul Awakened

She is the muse to her own sorrow; She is the digger of her grave. She is the painter of her ocean view and every fatal wave. She is the shadow of her Father; She is the darkness in your sight. She is the night without the stars surrounding pale moonlight. She is the music with no words; She is sweet love without the reason. She is your dreamer with submission cold by warmth with every season. She is your pet with cold intentions; She is your baby scared and shaken. She is the bold and pure- the lost and found, She is a soul awakened.

DUET TO PLEASURE

DUET TO PLEASURE B a b y... How can I get you out of my mind When It's you I only want to twine? Shall I befall to some lovers When it's you I treasure none other? B a b y... Don't play too hard to get You already know Your face and wit, I can't forget... Come, baby, come I tell you... What you can become Ocean skies to underwater trysts My baby... you got all the gifts From tantalizing green eyes To pouty cherry full lips Baby, you got me straight on bullseye Your an oasis to my desert life With you by my side, Thorns I will completely abide. Surrender to me, my desire. Keep those blushes alive And together let's duet to perspire! Entangle long on sizzling Madonna moves; Ahhh and ohhhh our dual adoring grooves As we glide in autumn memoirs of ecstasy To reach a volcanic explosion of chemistry. Interstellar prime vows uttered bright, Glowing anew as we kiss so contrite Oh, baby, won't you try to comply? Don't deny, it's I you also desire... Sunset may endow a door to endings but it's also a window to beginnings. So baby, now or never Let's start our pleasure... © October 28, 2014; 10:43 pm Carpe Diem in the form of Entreaties

It Can't Be Real

A truth in rage of insult furrows my mind
For it is only an offense given to me by myself
In the mouths of others far innocent than I
I feel the tears trickle down my cheeks
For I have surfaced into an ugly mistake
I am always inadequate in this brain
I try to shine like the advice of grace given
But confidence rarely rears its head my way
There’s a sort of shade blocking its way
A shade that darkens everyday

That very shade led me to believe my feelings are wrong
That I will never belong so long as they are not controlled
I must be careful—for the lines of love and lust run cold
I hate myself truly this night
And no one but myself will give me the right
The very right to degrade my every being
Because you are not seeing what I am seeing

There is no point
My lines run cold
Can I be so bold as to say
I still love with a pang of indistinguishable doubt
All feelings enter in
As my truth blurs and checks out

Your words pierce me so deep
I cannot describe the pain I feel
God it hurts so bad
It can’t be real

Much like the love I have come to embrace
The very love that links to your face
Tears don’t give it justice

It can’t be real
Much like the love I will never face

THE NIGHTINGALE LOST HER LAMP

THE NIGHTINGALE LOST HER LAMP Anita’s eyes were brown. She was the kindest of angels. Her speech firm with authority but reassuring with a glass- like sensitivity; she seemed to know all. Prompt as a rooster's first crow, that's how she is. She stands like a lioness ever ready to act, a channel to prolong the patient's life. Her heart is a captive cog of dedicated compassion: as a wife, as a mother, as a Dean, Professor, and as a nurse. She stood always regal in white. Bearing a sanction of life and death with each shot made by her gentle hands. She had Tiger eyes for signs and symptoms; sponges to absorb order and pressures, she was simply a lamp for a sick person. Our batch, she handles with iron fist. Labeled as "black sheep" – for some of us are noisy cans but empty inside. Black sheep but later turned into the cream of the crop. She stood as our Samson pillars then despite canyons of doubts and critiques, our batch defies the odds. Yet, one day a snapshot happened – She fainted while teaching. She was brought to the hospital, scrutinized and observed like the frog in my sophomore year. I was one of the nurses who rendered care. I watched, how the shining light in her eyes turned to stormy sadness. I have heard how her sturdy voice now sounded a tattered tape only syllables and groans, no more. Her before supple glowing skin turned a wrinkled ash — all tautness gone. Finally, she needs only bags of blood in two days her life passed my Anita... _______________________________________________________ Sponsor Thomas Martin Contest Name Show but Don't Tell Placed 3rd... An Epic Battle With A Simple Question

A beautiful heart pines from afar. To parallel freedom, we choose our master. In Love, the Dragon and Unicorn are! Celestial winged heart beats faster, Over mountain and ocean meet polar eyes. To parallel freedom, we choose our master. Embarking from sun brewed and moonshine skies Two alien races, in war, collide. Over mountain and ocean meet polar eyes. All brothers' swords raise, marching with pride. Sisters of heaven let feathers fly. Two alien races, in war, collide. The angered clouds rain blood from the sky. A new path finally found. Sisters of heaven let feathers fly. Brothers' swords low now to the ground. A beautiful heart pines from afar. A new path finally found. In Love, the Dragon and Unicorn are! In universe Out bound energy Where are we when we die?

FINDING MYSELF AGAIN

Fragile plate of twilight bursts on my feet; roads empty, save for a shadow like me limping from shards of brittle tears... alone within cleavage of moon’s torn inlay looking for souls who are not there ... and to wail for his love astray upon a mute star, the begging of fate’s new postscript with nothing but a racing heart to search my own way, a different mold, this time-- as husk peels the marrow of cheek’s bones. A lamppost mirrors my glossed frame rising while I close my eyes, awaiting morn to flicker on spoiled gown: till angelic whispers begin a chain-link of notes down the night; the fire from my belly breathes again like an orange wave...drawing me close to hope's rebirth within my new world, feeding my roots borne from self-love..again. Her Four Aces

Grandma 85

She sits across the table
from the best hand she has ever been dealt
Her four Aces,
The greatest joy of her life
Her most favoured and loved children

She has not always been dealt the best hands
Her early years on a farm in Alberta
with her brother and two sisters
Those were hard years
They didn't have much
but they shared what they had
They made do
They learned the value of hard work

She left the farm just barely a girl
At a time when women didn't go it alone
Vancouver was her starting point
A promised life of husband and children,
brought her back to Alberta
There, she the self taught seamstress,
stitched the bits of their lives together
Year after year sewing
grad dresses, bridesmaid and wedding dresses
Curtains for windows and bed spreads

More importantly
She stitched values into the fabric of their being
"Work hard"
"Respect other people's time"
"Above all be direct and honest"
"You can do and be whoever you want to be"
At times they may have seen her as a disciplinarian
but she did not wish to squander her perfect hand,
these precious ones she was entrusted with
Yet she also brought the joy of laughter
She danced with abandon
Her's is a life well lived
Filled with love and accomplishments
Designing for others and for them
Rooms that captured the essence of her
Meticulously placed artistry
Carefully planned
Balanced budgets
She grasped her own dreams
Now her success spills over into her children's lives

She looks on with pride
Sees how far they have come
Her tears and worrying
The years of laughter and smiles
Ten beautiful grandchildren and four great grandchildren
They affectionately nick name her Grandma 85
These generations share in her softer side
She can be proud of a job well done
Her children are capable of taking on heavy lifting
For she has equipped them well
To this day mom is still up for almost anything
She is and always has been the adventurer
Still her priority has been and still is, them
Being there in times of need
Although not one to coddle
Yes, she has allowed them to fail at times
They needed to make their own mistakes
For she knew in the end
it would make them stronger
So today she celebrates
Sits with organized cards in her hand
lays them all down on the table
Laughs and says
"Pay up"
After all she has always been
A no nonsense kinda gal!

I wrote this for a dear friend's mother's birthday.
Thanks to her sisters and brother and her,
for providing the building blocks for this piece.
The nickname "Grandma 85" was given as a result
of a card game they dubbed with the same name.
She sounds like an amazing woman and
I can tell she is greatly loved by her family.

Silence

in a quiet room,
with the hand of li'l baby,
hoping for full recovery,
sunshine meets her glance,
after rainy day has gone.

Shortest Love Story

Our elbows collided,
'cause my desk is wrong-sided.
Made for a lefty,
When I write
with my right.

Bridge over troubled water

If my memory serves me well
you were once a friend of mine
need I remind you, pray do tell
a friend who overstepped the line
friend became lover became husband so fine

I'm longing now to feel your arms
Sailing amid memories divine
Right when I thought, I was over your charms
behind my eyes, beneath my skin, you twine

Like an almost forgotten memory
a song, your words combine
bridge across time, consoling me
over and over, our dreams align
troubled tho our paths maybe
water flows through sands of time, for me

I feel your love
Will you always feel mine?
ease the parting, herein-above
your gift, our love, define
mind and soul are thine.

My Arrow

Don't you fall, don't make me sad anymore
Whenever you call, it makes me feel so helpless
I know what is hurting, deep down inside you
With no place to hide and crying's not selfish
But I will be here whenever you reach out
I’m always here for you, you are never without

I see those eyes, I do not like them
When they are weeping, but when you fly
I see you smiling when you lie there just sleeping
I understand what everyone is thinking
But I see two eyes so playful and beautifully sinking
And how I adore you, so stop what you are thinking

Love comes from I, in the wind it blows
It swirls all round you; I know how it's life
And just how it goes, I am just so happy I found you
And I miss you, when you are not here
And I know that you love me, and I know all your fears
So don't ever fall, don't make me sad anymore
Whenever you call

I know all your feelings; I know when you've been weeping
You told me them all; I tell you I love you
You are so happy flying and smile when you are sleeping
I think of you as you are sleeping I know where you go
Right into my heart just like an arrow

So don't ever fall, don't make me sad anymore
Whenever you call, I will pick you up once more
And let you fly and fly into your sweet dreams
As you sing into them all, I will hear a song
As sweet as a new bird, who sings to the skies
Whenever she flies
