High Flying Flag

High Flying Flag
Dr. James E. Martin
©December, 2012

The flag was perched aright
It was properly lit at night.
It drew many views,
Was daily in the news,
Till it vanished from everyone’s sight.

Apollo's Stars

Apollo's Stars

Apollo Creed’s the flag waving type
Sporting old glory for his Rocky fight
And when he got knocked
Right on his clock
He not only saw stars but saw stripes

Advice Per Simmons

There once was a man named Simmons
Who loved to advise men and women
And his strongest suit
Was choosing fresh fruit
But don’t buy persimmons, per Simmons

Much Needed Invention

I don’t mean to give apprehensions
To this much needed invention
But when it turns brrr
If I can’t wear fur
Give me full body hair extensions

Limericks crochetes: Once a cardsharp comic called Don Dump

Limericks crochetés: Once a cardsharp comic called Don Dump

Once a cardsharp comic called Don Dump
Made father’s money jump during slump
Dreamed of ruling this earth
Joined campaign (in) stand-up mirth
Made people laugh without using trump.

He played to the gallery hirsute
Soon his jokes turned sauerkraut through soot
Before long they cried : Heil !
Jackboots clicked, people wail
In goose-step, give : Sieg ! Heil ! salute.

Moral : « Listen not to funny man Dump !
Migrants all know how to scale wall jump.
Ten million there love US
Minus some (who) think like louse !
Live not solipsistic world on rump ! »

Oh Canada

Believe it or not, it can really get hot In the land of ice and snow, I kid you not We even go out Without a coat Ah Canada, that massive pink land way up on top

Limericks crochetes: All the trappings of the rough-neck cult

Limericks crochetés : All the trappings of the rough-neck cult

All the trappings of the rough-neck cult
Baby-faced blond Aryans exult
Under star-striped umbrella
State seal insignia
Some Dad yells « OUT », muscle-men catapult

Can SUN also set in the Wild West
Where the cash – the Man says – will come to rest
How many will share wealth
How many get free health
Deplete coffers for great job conquest ?

The tragic loss of a rising star
O ! Mark « Blond » face ! He’ll shine yet afar !
Blocked not by Destiny
But by peer fear envy :
Winsome mien sage’s ears passion galore !

Patriotic or Goodell's Lament

There is a team from Boston
Who's quarterback is truly awesome
Along came Goodell
Cools Tom for a spell
Yet Pat's continue to Blossom

Have To Go Vote

Have To Go Vote

Have to go vote than unify
Even though county is dry
Things became complicated
While in long line I waited
Had one more drink with a sigh.

Here's to you with many cheers
All our hopes and also fears
Finally came to fruition
When beans became my ammunition
Started passing gas with many tears.

Discovered we were at day one
Did not start and had not begun
Had looked into my cereal bowl
Image said can you cajole
Some who are abusive men.

To vote up people had all lined
Trump many he has maligned
Also us taken advantage of
Never shared any of his love
Hillary causes peace of mind.

Battle, Saddle Tattle

About to be in a big battle
Up on horse will have to saddle
When you do ride his
Look down and see him pass by
Trump telling tale he did tattle.

Wow. Jim Horn

Just wrote all of this from 0700
to 0800 on Voting Day. The challenge
is hearing things on the television
and turning them into poems.
Try it sometime. Which one did
you like the best and with you
mind had messed and by God
had been blessed while they
live in my love nest.
