THE OLD OAK TREE

Oh I am but a simple leaf
         withering within the gutter
         one summer of bliss
         now! Just an autumn flutter.

                   For some; destine to fall
                   upon stony ground, a part
                   of life’s infernal gyration.
                   Yet for those that fall
                   within your reach, to live
                   on within your soul!

         While limbs that stretch
         towards the solstice, create
vivacious veins as channels of hope,
         a pledge of foliation continues
         to endure what spring has
         furnished; autumn expires.

Yes! If we can but learn
                   from nature’s complex simplicity,
that life be of a cycle
from the seed we are conceived,
then let spring be my beginning
                   winter my exultant eve!

         Let our two cultures
         merge as one, the
         decomposed humus
         to become the sustenance;
         our transfusion the
         new beginning.

                   Let us breathe the
                   fragrance of born again;
                   let each slender limb,
                   stout body bear our
                   tenaciousness, each lyrical
                   leaf our life’s blood.

          Let us mollycoddle each
precious tear that falls from a
          angry sky; dance gracefully
          upon the wind, embrace
          on moonless nights, bathe
           in summer madness.

Let us hear the bluebell call,
                   the daffodil pray, the apple
                   blossom bear witness; the
                   clamour of the field mouse
                   the pitapat of the butterfly
the silence of lovers in love.

Let us be sanctuary to the
             symbolic songstress, scuttling
             squirrel, vulgar urchin;
             a fortress for the warrior
             a haven for the pacifist
             an inspiration for the poet!

 EPILOGUE

                  The call of springtime
                   we will invoke,
                     logging representative
                      we will gladly choke;
                        nature’s guardian.
                          “This! Obliging old oak.”

The Dog Days of Summer

We let down the top to soak in the sun
Now that the harshness of winter is done

As you let back the seat and put your feet on the dash
Saying, “keep your eyes on the road I don’t want to crash”

I truly must admit that I’m torn completely in two
The coast has its beauty, then again so do you

As the beauty of the Sun is absorbed by your skin
Like a kid at the candy store I simply want to dig in

If life is a candy store sweetheart you are the treat
All the other candy I tasted, never tasted so sweet

The reason I love summer is because of the heat
The skimpier the bikini, the greater the treat

I can’t begin to express how wonderful you are
Saying, “hey take a look at her I’ll steer the car”

At first I truly had no idea what I should say?
Though now it’s, “ok sweetheart, have it your way”

I think that is because you know these words are true
I may take look at her but I shall forever belong to you

Summer is a time that is as bright as the sun
Out goes the cold as it’s replaced by the fun

We have our barbecues and sit under the stars
Let down the tops and go for rides in our cars

Go tend to our gardens in farmer John clothes
Truly amazed at how fast everything grows

Go hang out at the river as well as the lake
Cover ourselves in oil than let our skin bake

Embrace the moments because these words are true
The days last much longer and the sky is so blue

The dog days of summer I reckon that’s so
We bark and howl at folk we don’t even know

If life is banquet then summer is the feast
I think we should gobble it up, to say the least

MEMORIES ON BRANCHES

Scrumptious sight of prairies and grass
Ardent beaming of flower buds and buzzing bees
Leafless coils, branches of trees become alive
Hastening! Arousing everyone's joy and vive
             Everyone happy on cheerful springtime!

A cotillion trips and chirps of jolly birds
From some distance, I have started to heard
Fantastic shun and kisses of pretty butterflies
Tempting all species of flora and fauna to thrive
Welcoming, beckoning the heat of summertime!

First crisp of breeze, creating dew in morning
Canopy of red and orange leaves from branches, enchanting!
Turning the world into a canvass of nature's brush
Unnoticeable, such romantic dash making anyone blush
Revel, embrace the sweet amorous season of autumn!

                 Solid chilling raindrops of snowflakes
                Giving warning: careful during breaks
Covering branches, bringing icy cold aches
Yet, skiing an exhilarating cool escape
Delight in the coolness ambiance of winter!

What Is Or Is It

                                            What is ? ----- Is it ?

                                            What is happiness ?
A hot summer day, walk barefoot in cool grass
Picking a large bouquet of summer flowers
and then merge a flower crown
Maybe get a good advice of
flower Daisies : love me, love me not,
                                          love me, love me not.......

                                             What is happiness ?
Listen to the frogs love song
by the small pond in the woods
Enjoy a fantastic and very light spider webs
Who can do better than the spider
See the raindrops on a leaf,
which glistens in the sun shining like jewels
Meadow which is full of yellow dots when
                                     Buttercup is smiling and nodding

                                              What is happiness ?
Hand in hand on charity trail
                                               be giddy with love
A tender and gently kiss of the one you loved
The dream of a family, have children
and experience that new life is born
Living life together for better or worse
and that the device love never ends

Happiness for me is that you are here

Bottled Up

Summer of '99

How ironic. There I was, waking to a magnificent kaleidoscopic sky
and I had no one to share it with. I thought you'd be there but I knew
that it was too good to have lasted. It was too perfect--
you were too perfect, all the way down to your cheesy pick up
line... "Steamy Summer Love" indeed...

But what is steam anyway? I guess the love that we shared
that summer literally evaporated. All at the heat of the moment.
How cliched. But it sure burned me, now I realize how true it is
that steam is way much hotter than boiling water.
Was it all a dream? I tend to think so, but then
I finger the bracelet around my wrist,
and realize it was true after all.
Breath on breath. Skin to skin. Heartbeat to heartbeat.
Soul to soul? I thought so.

I've come back here, to this same spot where we were a year ago,
just for me to let go.
 Literally bottling up everything...
this write goes in this bottle, as well as some sand here
and your joke of a bracelet.
I'm tossing this out to sea, because that's where it belongs--
those memories to be swallowed up.
Passion purged
by angry waves...

Was it a fantasy? Maybe, but then I hold him close to me
and realize it wasn't. I named him Nicholas, you know.
See, I remembered your name.

---------****-------------------------****-------------------------------

Summer of 2008

I've come back to this place to mull over something rotten
I did a decade ago. And remember-- that gorgeous face,
those mesmerizing eyes and smile... that amazing spirit.
And hit myself on why I was such a fool.

Then I see this bottle, and in it is some sort of letter,
and what is this? A bracelet? An all too familiar one--
holding it in my palm, I get a chill not brought on by the sea breeze.
Reading the note, I burn up, ashen.
I then weep till my eyes and soul feel like dying.

I have a son.
and her name has escaped my memory.

Days of Summer

There comes the time when spring has run its course And summer days lay heavily on the land When eager steps have slowed to garner strength The stream runs slowly as if in reprimand Summer's wealth oozes like honey from a comb Horizon stark, not a cloud to soften the sky Evening settles round like a golden cloak And life seems slower as summer slips on by

Serenity

As a peaceful wind pushed long and free
simple love had arrived in perfect time
with a song of jubilation rolling pure through the valley
a seed of love took flight in summer winds free

simple love had arrived in perfect time
as I lay naked upon ancient rocks of graceful light
a seed of love took flight in summer winds free
Gods grace in delicate strokes touched me

as I lay naked upon ancient rocks of graceful light
with a song of jubilation rolling pure through the valley
Gods grace in delicate strokes touched me
as a peaceful wind pushed long and free

November

November

Cool winds turn cold as the winds stir from the north
The sun, the life giving star, heats the tropics so far to the south
Its warmth a distant memory to the lands that it deserted
Long forgotten greens of summer turn into the color of a raging fire
The fire dies and leafs that lived in the summer sun die and fall to the ground
The white silky clouds turn black and heavy carrying moisture from the open waters
The mighty lakes of the north turn violent under the fading yellow sun
Fighting the winds and the certainty of the fingers of the north freezing them
Rain turns to ice storm and them into the snow that children love
Mother Nature makes her changes as the speed of life slows
Baby animals, now grown, leave their family to explore their new world
Some settle down for a sleep that will protect for the three months of bitter cold
Others travel to the lands of their ancestors where the climate never changes
No one tells them to make such a journey
It is just the cycle of life that protects them and their young
But all the ice, the snow and the suffering will end
For it is November and November is a month of change
The changes will last until the spring when live starts anew
The ice and snow will melt and food will be plentiful
Green with once again color the trees, grass and shrubs
The animals who were babies in the fall return with babies of their own
The lakes thaw and calm in the spring’s gentle breezes
Life will return to normal at least until the winds of November return
But, at least for now, that is a world away in another time
And it is no longer remembered

WATCHING A SUMMER STORM IN DOYLESTOWN

WATCHING A SUMMER STORM IN DOYLESTOWN
I was laid to rest,
my death keeps getting better.
If you find me here, you know, I'm yours to keep.
I could try to say
I love you in this letter,
or pretending you are here, sing you to sleep.

If the world was mine,
I find it quite amusing,
I would give it all away, to see your eyes,
I would save your life,
and everything you're losing,
all because you never see who's telling lies.

I am just as dead
as is your heart each morning.
If the wind has blown, you know I will be there.
I will touch your life,
without much of a warning,
never look for me, just know I'm everywhere.

I'm a summer storm,
my hope is crashing thunder.
I'm a lightning bolt, my love is five alarm.
if I rain all night,
it's just a spell I'm under,
you should know I'm dead, and won't do any harm.

I'm a little boy.
An old man getting younger.
All I have is how I know how things should be.
We still want the world
to live in death and hunger,
yet I love your eyes, when your eyes look at me.

Wrapping the Night in a Table Cloth, Stars and All.

soda sparks
and lemon juice
on every lip
and candle wick
explosion
of the champagne kind
to bubble brains
and swirl the minds
when summer limps
upon two heels
we break our vows
and kneel to feel
the rhythm of the losing heat
when soda sparks
in weak appeal
as sidewalks bend
their thoughts to me
while overactive melodies
complete themselves
in summer nights
I barely fall without a fight
and candles dim
and lights grow white
I know the drill, tonight's the night
I lick the summer off my chin
and grab September, and head on in...

As Raindrops Fall

Walk with me my Love
Beneath the summer sun
And talk with me my Love
Until the evening's done.

Stay with me my Love
Though all my youth be fled
Stay with me my Love
Please come and share my bed.

With you alone I chose to spend my life
     Through all its many years.
'Tis you alone I'd have for wife
To share its joys and tears.

Let's call a spade a spade
All cards upon the table.
Live by the rules we made
The best that we are able.

     Tomorrow's sun may bring Anything
      Or perhaps nothing at all.
Listen close enough and angels sing
      As summer raindrops fall.

Laugh with me my Love
Stars shining on your face.
Dance with me my Love
Within the night's embrace.

A raven sits in yon withered tree
Shall we stop to hear him croak?
What of him to you or me
     Tomorrow is yet smoke.

Dream with me my Love
In the fading morning's dark.
Scheme with me my Love
In time we'll make our mark.

The bells within the chapel ring
Read words writ on a wall.
         Snowgeese gather on the wing
         As the winter raindrops fall.

Play with me my Love
Singing in the rain.
Smile with me my Love
Begone all present pain.

Live with me my Love
Until we both grow old.
Sleep with me my Love
My shelter from the cold.

I'm all right now what I might be
With your love in my defense.
     We face a thousand mysteries
     This life makes little sense.

We face what ere the future brings
As we heed the Siren's call.
Touch the clouds and angels sing
      As summer raindrops fall.

not all is lost

Not all is lost.
In rotting wood,
where salamanders
hibernate,
creatures plunder
fallen treasures.
Under the garden chair,
a pair
of summer shoes lie -
abandoned?
Not all roses die
when summer goes.
Somewhere a rose
is blooming still,
waiting to be found.

Cherries in December

A few leaves that escaped my rake are skittering across the yard. The wind seems to be playing with them, teasing, a winter bully. December, the fire a comfort. Here I sit, watching the leaves and eating cherries..he brought me cherries. Somewhere it is summer and fruit is ripe and dripping with promise.. Who would have thought it possible? The world small enough that I can taste that bounty and pretend I am dancing under the summer moon..dancing, a red skirt swirling around my legs.. wiping juice from my chin with its hem... Cherries in winter...just imagine.....

A CLASSIC SUMMER IN GREECE for fantasy contest

                                A CLASSIC SUMMER IN GREECE

Viciousness and mystery erupt on arid soil.
Summer heat and idle time can make the spirits boil.
Languishing in stuffy rooms with very little sleep--
Night time flickers of the light-- imagination leaps.

Heat that beckons times long past invade a fevered head—
Athena pleases lovers mid her goddess silken bed,
Grecian legs march bravely –- prelude Olympian races--
Soldiers dream they sail away to see exotic places.

Heat waves shimmer landscape –men will do what they are told--
Spearborn soldiers helmeted sing down a dusty road.
Tho in mind they join their lovers whispering by the sea,
Drink of mountain waters --rest their head on sweetheart’s knee

Helen, when she sailed away –a wayward selfish wife
Without a backward glance she risked the cost of human life--
Was it the heat that made her crazed to do this foolish thing?
A fit of summer boredom could create this witless fling.

Autumn winds are blowing now-- Troy’s nights turn cool and fair--
Does Paris try to ditch her --as naked Helen combs her hair--
Does Hector tell his brother--get this woman out of here--
Does Helen beg to stay-- and tell her lover not to fear?

Heat can play the brain and make it dance a backward tune--
Clarity as sun tricks down—repeats a former June,
Perhaps there is a lesson learned from heat that sears the soul--
Summertime romance will write us each a tragic role.

winter,summer, spring, and fall

First of all I am going to tell you a story about the four seasons,
winter summer spring and fall,

Its a story not to forget at all and it is easy to remember that
Fall is a season that likes it cool, the nice wind blowing as all the leaves make sounds as they hit the ground,

And Winter it's a season of snow with the frosty nicknames that everyone knows.

And Summer is the hotest season of all, bringing up the heat so much you wish it was still fall.

Now spring is the prettyest season I have seen, where everything is blooming and growing green. Its a season where all the birds start singing cause of the joy they have had with winter, summer, spring, and fall....

A Summer Walk

The sun is slowly rising and a soft wind gently blows
We are heading for the beach to feel the sand between our toes
There is something about the summer sun and a walk along the shore
That tends to put your world at peace as you hear the ocean's roar

The sound of children's laughter and the smell of tanning lotion
The taste of salt in the air from the mist coming off of the ocean
Sea gulls against a clear blue sky and a ship with its' sails set
These are days that will live in our memory, days we'll never forget

There are palm trees, music and a carousel as you make your way along
And a young woman in a bikini, her body swaying to an island song
There is a rhythm to the pounding surf, unchanging day to day
That tends to ease a troubled mind and take your blues away

Will you join me in a summer walk and be there at my side
Will you run with me into the water and swim against the tide
There's a bench out on the boardwalk, we can sit a while and talk
Then head back home together as we finish our summer walk.

Spring Summer And Fall

From bright colors even the brightest blond turns grey.
Grown men now stand.
Were once young children did play.

 The once new cover.
Is now tattered and torn.
time has all but erased the oaths once proud men had sworn.

The field now overgrown still haunts memories of the blue and grey.
Old worn headstones markers of were they'll forever lay.
No bell to ring no voice shall call.
The ghosts of the past erased by spring summer and fall.

The old porch stands hidden by a overgrowth of vines.
Now blank are the boards that once were painted signs.
The blood followed swiftly from the wound of the past.
To forge a path to a time that could never last.

Gone is the tree that once stood so very tall.
Forgotten by time
So is the legend of spring summer and fall.

To thong in public...

To wear a thong in public...
Not much chance of that...
Unless your the type...
That gets invited back...
For unlike the summer months...
What's there to show...
I myself...put it on the shelf...
As like most you know...
To thong in public...
That's a life time ago...
A little more to hide...
Even in summer time...
To wear a thong in public...
Not much chance of that...

A Sweet Sublime

Oh, endings are a sweet sublime, crisp with longing,
a joyous confection of ripe orchards and hay fields
bursting on the senses plump with summer's yield
and so the Fall's a summer love belonging...

belonging now to branch, to bough, to wind belonging
remnant leaves full blooded block blows like shields
and golden stalks march across blue skied cornfields
Oh, what sweet ending makes warm prolonging?

Oh, prolong the morning dew, too soon it turns frost.
Let the scent of concord grape on trellised vine cling
among the morning glories grasp criss-crossed
for Fall is best beloved while summer sings
and winter belays it's use of killing frost
for Autumn's glory's brief while summer lingers.

Wildflowers

Standing out in a field alone, a little white flower named Daisy longed for someone to share her world.
One day a blue flower named Bachelor Button entered her world they became friends.
She knew by his name that he was not the propagating kind, but that didn’t stop their relationship she called him BB short for best bud.
The seasons of Spring & Summer they enjoyed the sun, laughed in the rain and held on fast in the Fall.
Winter came it was long and hard they were both covered in a blanket of snow, not knowing whether they would ever see each other again or even survive .The snow fell then came the ice, this went on for months.

The Sun shone brightly the first day of spring. A few days later warmth of the sun melted the snow, Daisy popped up .
I’ve been waiting days for you to come out, said BB, they both chanted hooray!
The snow was completely gone in a few days, the birds started building their nests , bugs were crawling around ,butterflies began to visit the two flowers. I wish there were more of us Daisy said, to BB.

They laughed as the sun and wind blew through their leaves. Then it started the sun and rain took turns until one morning the air & field was filled with the smell of flowers.

Daisy and BB looked at each other and asked what kind of flowers are these ? they’re not white like daisies they’re not blue like bachelor buttons. They did not know the birds and bugs carried the seeds from the two of them and the caterpillars buried them under the soil.
The seeds from the new flowers were then carried by the winds many miles away, they landed in fertilized gardens and flourished, although they faced danger everyday.
as they were called WEEDS ..
The Gardener pulls weeds out of the garden so they don’t choke the flowers, which cost a lot of money and require lots of maintenance.

However there was a Gardener who saw her friends spending hours weeding their garden , that they didn’t have enough time to admire and enjoy the labors of their love
So she set out to give a home to all the weeds ,she provided a place where they could fit in and multiply, they required no maintenance, rain provides their water .

The best part of all is their beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Ask my granddaughter-- What are those flowers in the garden ?
She will answer "WILDFLOWERS " their parents were Daisy and BB

Home is Where the Ocean Is

Summer is here once again.
The breeze is warm,
I smell salt on the wind.
The same sandy beach between my toes,
The same waters I learned to swim.
Sun burn on my nose,
To the Ocean I dive in.
I submerse myself in the waters of the Atlantic
Warmer than the West Coast Thankfully
Cold, I simply cannot handle it!
Further out I paddle faithfully,
For my mother ocean to keep me sane,
this is my therapy,
to soothe this migraine.
This place gives me energy,
a weakness with a name.
Pleasure Island, NC.
A place hidden with fortunes
and undiscovered fame.
Never could I stray from the ocean
my passions would never be fulfilled
and I would never be the same.

Dedicated to my Dad on Father's Day 2013
The man who introduced me to the ocean and educated me about it and gave me reason to love appreciate and respect it.

First day of summer

First day of summer

It’s the very early morning
The summer’s just begun
Although the weathers kind of cool
I know that soon the sun
Will be burning down on me
But me, I love it all
I really love these summer days
They’re really beautiful.

It’s lovely in the early mornings
To see the sun come up
And hear birds singing joyfully
It overflows my cup
All this love that it brings out
As it shines on down on me
I love to see those Lorikeets
That feed from bottle brush trees.

How I love the beers and barbeques
In a garden filled with flowers
As I watch the many colored parrots
I could sit there for hours
And watch the sun that burns on down
Then rises from the trees
And I love it in the afternoons
To feel that cool sea breeze.

Are you ready

Moments to Reflect
Are you ready?
Jesus is on his way and it will not be long until He arrives and I want my soul by His side because His love will set me free. He is all in this world that I need, He is the air that I breathe and He lives within me He give to me a gift of life for all eternity. Jesus is the air that I breathe he is in every breath that I take. He my life and the world to me so I praise Him daily upon my knees, He is life for all who want to live for all eternity.
So fresh and clean, like clear blue sky and a gentle summer breezes, He is what will always sustain me in my time of need. He caresses me like a summer shower, oh what an honor. Like the air that I breathe, I have faith in Him sight unseen. In Him I place my faith unseen knowing that He is living deep within me.
He is every flower and every tree His present is everywhere, all around me. This I can see and I know He care for me. He gave His life so that I might be free of sin, loving Him bring true life for me and for all to see my faith is strong and I show it and in this I cannot go wrong living my life, His words as my guide.. He bared the weight of this world big or small and sin was what it was called and He paid a debt that He did not owe for all humanity to find their way back home and to have life more abundantly within His kingdom that is more precious gold with bless yet to be told.
He the One who can set you free, He all that you need, He is the air and the flowers and the trees, He the air that I breathe for He fulfilled my every need and that is why I worship Him wholeheartedly upon my knees. He my Savior the One that I want to please serving Him faithfully in all that I do giving thanks down on knees because I know that He love me.
In His glory I will live my life, and in Him will find a peace of mind, and be with Him when I die living forever a new life in paradise by His side.

No matter where I go He like the air that I breathe so fresh and clean. He always with me , living inside of me, oh how sweet the security living life full and sin free , because when He set you free you are free in deed.
Like a gentle summer breeze Jesus love caresses me and it for all if you ask Him to come inside of you. It is for all that can read His word is written please want you read. Come have faith in Jesus and to can have life and have it more abundantly, walk hand in hand with Jesus in paradise for all eternity. So do not be left behind with the time comes.
Keep this in mind and close to your heart; Jesus love is sweeter than a spring rain and more loving that a summer breeze, can’t you see within the
Lord our savior there is everlasting life for all who truly believe. Faith and belief in Jesus is life guaranteed what more do anyone really need?

For Always

Every moment I can't see your face;
These are the days and nights when I miss you.
I ask that you stay for always,
On sunny days and when it rains too.

If I speak to another pretty dame,
She's not the flame inside that grows.
In my heart you will remain;
This one thing I'd like you to know.

This Life

I will whisper excuses in my own ear,
Behind my back to the shadows of regret...
And recollections in their kindest form
Cannot soothe the tears
Of a heart torn asunder.

I never wished you gone,
Nor unencumbered by my embrace;
In an afternoon of Summer softness
And Summer scents
Held together by a future unimpaired --
How was I to know...

In the certainty of youth and beauty,
All those whispers told a tale of sacriifice
Surrounding a gentle wanton uninstructed
In the vagueries of lies.

I only wanted to be free...
I only wanted to understand
Meaning in the word glorious.
It was never meant to be,
Even though vivid memories are treasured
Of other lives preordained...

I have no knowlege of importance...
So remember, in the centuries long past,
And those yet to come...
The reasons for loneliness;
The reasons for life.

I must, in any case,
Simply whisper excuses for this one
However long it seems to last...
Simply whisper ...

Snail's Simple Pace

The caramel leaves seem to fall from sky
In waves, as zephyr sings through chimes and eaves
Its song that whispers a fall lullaby
As a gentle rustling wind through autumn leaves

September a time to slow down, be still
Slowly now we have less light_ more dark
A drawing to home and hearth seems our will
Beckoning to fill with bounty our hearts

Caramel sauce for those crisp apples near
The heat of summer is in distant past
None of that snow of winter yet to fear
Watering chores of summer now are past

All things for coming winter out in place
Now one can slow to a snail's simple pace

Summer Memories From The Tree of Life

Summer season was my childhood’s greatest fun time,
We played with toys out of a coconut tree which is a tree of life,
We built little houses beautifully and so high as we climbed
Like a flying trapeze on its leaves, we swung so high.

We played with toys made of coconut trees, the tree of life,
My playmates joined me in building little houses using a dull knife,
Out of its leaves and midribs, we made walls, roofs and doors,
Pretended as good cooks with its coconut shells and fruits.

My playmates joined me in building little houses using a dull knife
Pretended to live together as families with husband and wife,
I took the role of an elder sister in our little comfortable house
I combed the hair of a younger sibling with a coco midrib brush.

Pretended to live together as families with a husband and wife
Just like small neighborhood or community along the riverside
We chose one of the eldest playmates to be the group captain,
The leader of unity and cooperation in building more tents.

Just like small neighborhood or community along the riverside
We helped one another as piles of coco leaves we made as rides,
We made unique toys out of leaves and roots as much as we could
Like trumpets when blown, we covered our ears for its loud sound.

We helped one another as piles of coco leaves we made as a ride
We webbed balls, insects and other toys for a surprise to hide,
When the captain signaled to show who's the most had a reward
Then ran with our wind vanes to the beach and marched forward.

We webbed balls, insects and other toys for a surprise to hide
We played with toys out of a coconut tree which is a tree of life,
When the captain signaled us to show the most had a reward
A wonderful summer memory from a Tree of Life I've ever had!

Sept. 11,2012

Note: The coconut trees are considered the “Trees of Life”. They can provide almost all the things we need like shelter, clothing, foods and others. So, let us preserve coconut trees! They are very helpful but be careful because they are also risky during typhoons, LOL. There are many coconut trees in our backyard especially along the riverside connecting to the beach. These trees had added so much joy on summer time during my childhood years/graders.

Old fashion summer

Here under these leaves
of the lush gardens and weeds
Grape vines crawl from post to post
that create a resting spot for most

And now the robin is
guarding her young chicks so fair
her nest is made of grasses and hair

Trickling streams of a watery theme
Where dragonflies hover and spread their wings
And the so clever songs the robin sings

For summer comes and brings the heat of the day
Where busy children are out to play
Oh treasure this, theses days that come to pass
Where one may sit and drink a glass

With lemonade and roller-skates
 be home before
dark ,or at least by eight

Laboring were the long nights of summer
Were perspiration was a part of slumber
And so we woke with sticky necks and sheets
because all we had was a fan to beat the heat

And reminisce theses days we remember
Its soon back to school
Were we could’t wait until late September

Summertime Memories

Memories of a summer time so sweet
Palm trees swaying in a rhythmical beat
Watching waves as they come upon the shore
As a young child I loved to make sandcastles tall.
For windows I’d use the prettiest shells
A piece of driftwood I used for my door
To finish it off a wide moat I would dig deep
The water from my bucket around it I’d poor.

Another summer memory of which I recall
The colourful flowers blooming so tall
Bright red, yellow and pink budding roses
A welcoming sight that summer was here.
I chose pink rose buds and delicate white orchids
A combination of which was a magical sight
Blending so well with my gown of crystal organza
When we married, that warm romantic night.

Changing Seasons

Changing Seasons

In a burst of color and animal choruses
Sovereign sun heralds in a golden morning –
The air was delicate with the perfume of cherry blossom
Blown in from the hem of pink rows that lined the
driveway on Grandpa’s farm

I looked across at hay stacked verdant hills that were
Tossed with yellow daffodils, purple crocus and white snowdrops
They danced to the baton of the breeze and the
Hidden orchestra of lilting bird song of that fragrant spring morn

Grandma sang to me her songs of childhood
As we walked arm in arm amongst beds of fragrant roses
and budding fruit trees that whispered promises of full baskets
that would soon be heavy laden with the Summer fruits, preserves,
Pies and jam of a bountiful harvest, a few months from now

Summer came rich with its harvest, merry hearts
and long hazy, lazy summer days and nights scented
with wisteria, frogs and cicada, chirping and croaking
their melodious summer anthem of ‘All is well with the world’
as we toasted to our full and wonderful life

Autumn brought in a more somber note and amber tones
though warm and restful, they soon told me - life is changing again
time quickly moves on - it prepared me for the winter and
the chill mirrored in the face of the full moon as it lit a silvery path
to my next season’s change

The cherry trees glowed white against the dark night sky like iridescent bones along
the snow covered driveway - they waved their bony fingers goodbye
as I crunched solemnly down the long white corridor with slow steps and a heavy heart that was beating to the mournful dirge of hoot owls and creaking limbs – I blinked back tears under that star kissed sky and full moon that lit my path
The moon reminded me- each season has its bounty that I can treasure -I held those memories close to my well seasoned but thankful heart.

SEASONS OF LIFE

                      seasons is the relationship.
                                 changes a lot.
SUMMER tells us the value of FRIENDS.
WINTER tells us the caring of FRIENDS.
SPRING is about the quarrel with the FRIENDS.
                                  AUTUMN tells about the LONELINESS.
THUNDER occurs when you fight with me.
                                  LIGHTING occurs when.,
                      i miss my LOVED ONE.
                                  RAIN occurs when.,
i spend time with my LOVELY ONE.
BREEZE occurs when you give a SMILE after a CRY.
                      that's the life,
which i spend with my DEAR ONE.

Morning Mist and Summer Rain

Morning Mist and Summer Rain Far away from the noise of the city I walked in the quiet of a country lane nothing to distract me this day but the morning mist, turning into a summer rain. I was born to be free from my troubles born to smell the freshness of the day nothing to accompany me on my trip but the morning mist, turning into a summer rain. There are times when I must be free, away from the cares and worries of this life, when I can walk alone in this world with nothing but the morning mist, turning into a summer rain. Sometimes in all my wanderings I talk with my God up above, it's amazing what I will hear, when walking in a morning mist, turning into a summer rain. A symphony of sounds are present from the creatures who live nearby, from the call of a coyote drifting on the wind to the birds in their nests where they lie, all add to the beauty of this day, when filled with nothing but a morning mist....turning into a summer rain. My love for life is all around given by a God who cares from up above, it is seen most clearly on a country lane when walking in a morning mist, turning into a summer rain.

Daybreak

I wake on the sand
Right near the beach
You have yet to awake
Far out of reach
And Daybreak has arrived
A beauty unlike any other
Comparable only to us, girl
And how we love each other

So I gaze up alone
Marveling up at the sky
The warmth of the sun
Drying my eyes
I'm reflecting on us
Oh how each other we trust
I'm just so happy we're together
And I think to myself,
Just as this sun, we'll last forever

Then returning to be with you
I lay again now
Place my hand gently
On your warm tender shoulder
While I think of our lives today, love
And how they'll be when we're older...
I know there'd be no other way
So "I Love You" I make sure I say
To you, each and everyday

Jennifer Part 3

She has so much pain inside of her,
she doesn't know how to address it.
So she turns the pain into anger,
after she explodes, she becomes quiet.

She goes up to her room, upset.
Why does the world hate her so?
She thinks to herself, “That’s it!”
But in reality, it isn't though.

She lies on her bed,
Pulls out her book and reads.
As she turns the pages, she loses her head,
In her mind, she thinks “This is what I need.”

A place to escape the world,
Somewhere she can run.
For it seems everyone hates this girl,
And nothing she does is fun.

She plays her cello
And loses herself in the music
She does this when she feels low
Then she plays the song of her pick

She listens to the beat she makes,
Trying to make it sound perfect,
But oh, she keeps making mistakes,
She thinks that she will never get it.

She leaves the cello alone
And watches her shows
She then grabs her phone
And tells her best friend the show as it goes.

She leaves the TV on,
Then she enters her laptop.
She stays on till dawn,
She just can’t seem to stop.

She loves the idea of leaving the real world
And entering an imaginary one.
That’s the story of the girl,
Who is never done.

Ana

She writes her songs and her poems,
not one person know 'em.
She listens to the sound of her music,
she's stuck to it like a tick.

If someone took the time to listen,
her true colors would glisten.
She's put on a mask,
and hid everything when someone asked.

She was the type of girl who would always laugh,
making you wish it would last.
She was the type of girl who would smile the day away,
too bad it is no longer that way.

She is now the girl who is depressed,
I bet you're impressed.
Since no one could tell
that she was going through hell.

Everyone thought she was happy,
when really, she felt crappy.
Everyone thought she was having the time of her life,
who would have guess her best friend was a knife?

She spent her days alone,
she seemed to do everything on her own.
Never once wanted help.
Thought she could do everything herself.

Then the day came,
when she lost the game.
She fell apart,
and everyone saw her broken heart.

They saw the way she overreacted.
Oh, if only you saw the way she acted.
She bruised herself, scratched herself, and made herself bleed,
no one knew what it was that she needed.

They saw her tears,
and that was what she feared.
They found out she wasn't okay,
oh, she hated that day.

Everyone found out about her secret,
and she wish they'd just forget,
but she knew they couldn't,
and that they wouldn't.

She left that town and started over,
no one knew she went undercover.
She said she got better,
when really... something else occurred.

She secretly hurt herself,
and walked away from help.
Everyone thought she recovered,
when really, she was undercover.

She secretly wanted to get worse,
no one knew of course.
No one cared to ask,
if she was wearing her mask.

Now it's too late,
she locked the gate.
Killed herself,
everyone had forgotten she needed help.

Goodbye cold world,
this was a story of a girl
who once loved everyone
then feared who it was who won.

Summer

The sun is out and about

The dew is freshly wet

The wind is swift and smooth

What simply don't you get?

Summer has finally arrived

You can kiss your worries goodbye

Just glance up at the sky

And watch the birds fly

They don't have a worry

They're moving right along

And if you listen hard enough

You'll hear them hum a song

So what's the problem?

Why are you hesitant?

Just enjoy yourself

And whatever it is forget it

Soak it in

Laugh out loud

Go ahead and sin

Because you're party bound

If I Shall Grow Old 2K13

If these eyes shall become blinded, and if this
hair shall come to be combed thinly and grey;
No, it would not be the end of the world.
I would still see beauty therein this world through
the songs of Crickets and Feathered Songsters.
The breeze would yet whisper and trees still dance.
I would yet smell the freshly bloom of Spring.
I'd still endure Summer's sweltering heat.
I'd yet feel Autumn's leaves crunch 'neath these toes.
I'd still long to be fireside with Winter.
Disabled or not, perhaps I'd yet walk
therein wonderful imagination.
How I'd be forever young at heart!
Then just as one journey came to an end,
I'd indeed greet another with a smile.

Work

Work.
Toil.
The pain I put in the ground.
For such a precious thing.
Corn.
The family enjoys their meal.
They plant their leftover kernels.
And wait for me to tend to them.
Work.
An endless cycle in which happiness is born.

Last Summer Saturday

Poorly heated coffee;
I can't seem to get it hot enough.
Tired eyes still rolling,
Film draped for dreaming.
This last Summer Saturday,
Might as well call it Fall.
The pumpkins out and jumping,
Future jack-o-lanterns for fun.
Gentle breeze cascades,
Every once in a while a poof.
Sunny sun still sunning;
Please don't ever go away.
Time to heat up the coffee;
My goodness this is good!
So open arms and lean back;
God is so, so good!

Fall Comes Softly

She came to the ball in splendid fashion Her entry slow and sure, full of graces Her perfume spoke of the smells of fall and her sweet breath soft on summer faces.... Taking summer by it's trembling hand They waltzed together across the fields Knowing they would meet again next year And celebrate in glory when summer yields.... For the Fall contest

RAIN SHOWERS

The Earth dry and bare; waiting eagerly for the drops of care;

Caught in the hot, steaming summer’s snare;

The flowers and creepers decorating window sills; all look desolate and ill;

As the nature withers away in the sun’s merciless glare.

The men and the wives; the kids and the wild;

All are enduring the summer’s waterless exile;

They are waiting for the rain; to relieve them of the heat pain;

And of that life which has become a sweaty turmoil.

The wind strong and gusty; makes the roads yellow and dusty;

And the air around becomes suffocating and musty;

The birds forget to sing; their lilting, musical thing;

Even as the tree leaves wristle and make noise so husky.

Then come the Monsoon showers; falling first on boughs and flowers;

Making the trees and plants glisten and glower;

So the monsoon comes in grace; driving away summer’s trace;

Lashing at window-panes with its all-reigning power.

As the monsoon drives away the summer heat; with its raining rhythm off-beat;

And the flower buds open up to return it’s greet;

And as the water seeps in soil; a refreshing fragrance arise;

While the rain continuous to cool down hot gardens and streets.

The Earth grows green; and water droplets gleam;

On the smooth, waxy surfaces of the leaves;

Everywhere the flowers grow; in pink, red, white or yellow;

While buds make their way blushingly between tendrils.

 The wet and soft soil; now grows fertile;

And tender green plantlets push through the Earth in style;

Through soil the tiny saplings peep; as their sown seeds begin to reap;

And the plants and crops shake off the Earth’s temporary curse sterile.

As the raindrops go pitter-patter; water in puddles begins to gather;

And the little birds begin to chirp, twitter and chatter;

The insects begin to hum along; their irritating and happy song;

While due to rain and wind the roofs on houses begin to chatter.

As the showers for some moments cease; after giving Earth life’s new lease;

And the pitter-patter of rain is gently appeased;

The sun coyly shines; a cloud it half hides behind;

While the fluffy clouds move along with the cool breeze.

The fields now green and bright; are an artist’s sheer delight;

Pleasing to the senses of smell and sight;

The fresh air so sweet to breathe; that with pleasure the body writhes;

In the newly born rainy sunlight.

But this sunlight so quickly goes; as thunderstorms blow to and fro;

And Earth engulfs in darkness that now grows;

The wind rises and howls; with a voice that trembles all souls;

And day and night this gale roars.

The trees in fear tremble and shake; as leaves, twigs and branches break;

And the life of these trees is put up at stake;

Birds in nests cower with fright; and due to cold shiver with all their might;

And live in fearful anticipation of what else the storm may rake.

The monsoon now shows its ugly face; gone are its days of grace;

Rainy calamities take its place;

Cyclones and floods destruct worldwide; the raging sea throws up its tide;

“Nature reigns supreme”, we are forced to say.

Same is the life of man; may he do what he can;

But destiny will always play a hand;

What all will man control? So he should let destiny play its role;

And enjoy life and act as the situation will demand.

Somedays will shine the sun; those days life will be fun;

And work will be successful how much ever it’s done;

Somedays by the fun you will tire; and will long to get back into the attire;

Of normal life, however boring or glum.

Sometimes hope will come out; like a tiny plant sprouts;

And will remove from your mind every shade of doubt;

It will be a bright, hopeful ray; but for long it may not stay;

So we must make most of it when hope sprouts.

Just as the shower of joy; after summer comes out shy;

So shower of success will come when you have almost given up the try;

It will wash away your helpless sigh; and will give you a new will to try;

Which will help you succeed by-and-by.

Just as the sun goes behind the cloud; when thunder is heard aloud;

And darkness suddenly falls on Earth all around;

So also failure will touch you once; its upto you to prevent its repeated occurrence;

Or due to failure remain depression bound.

Sometimes through demotivation you will go; sometimes loads of success you'll know;

For we need all types of experience to make us grow;

Like some days it is wet; some days the sun for long doesn’t set;

But then it needs both the rain and the sun to make a RAINBOW…

Just one More Glass

Just one more glass to quench her thirst thirst of a desert nearer to sea she ordered for another glass she was just on a drinking spree. Thirst of a desert nearer to sea so close to it, yet so far she was just on a drinking spree to forget her pain,to remove her scars. So close to it, yet so far to touch the sea was not easy to forget her pain,to remove her scars again to get that happiness key. To touch the sea was not easy drinking her pain with every glass again to get that happiness key "Another .. g l a s s!",ordered the lass. Drinking her pain with every glass to delete her past as much she could "A n o t h e r ...g l a...!"ordered the lass as glass was only her escape route. To delete her past as much she could at least for this summer night as glass was only her escape route her mind was now a flying kite. At least for this summer night she ordered for another glass her mind was now a flying kite just one more glass to quench her thirst. ========================= Contest:And with a sip Sponsor:Paula Swanson

Summer is lemonade

Summer is a lemonade

Summer breeze blowing the grass around
with a warm sun kissing my face
blue skies wrap and hug me
as I watch the butterflies race.
Summer gives me lazy days
coloured flowers and dancing trees
smell of charcoal and starry nights
brings back childhood memories.
Summer is an endless beach
sun cream, bikinis and beer
salty seaspray, fish and chips
postcards saying "wish you were here".
sunburnt shoulders and fun fares
laughter never seemed to fade
grab the ice and share around
yes Summer is a lemonade

Summertime…and the livin’ is easy,
Flowers growin’ and the sun’s sittin’ high.
Your Daddy’s rich and your Momma’s so good lookin’;
So hush, pretty baby…you got no reason to cry.

One of these days, you’re gonna rise up smilin’.
Take a look around and think you’ve got it all.
You’ve got your Momma’s looks, all your Daddy’s money,
And all the boys in town are at your beck and call.

Summertime…and the livin’ is so easy,
Laughin’, singin’, havin’ so much fun.
No time to stop and think about your future
And what life will bring when your Summer’s done.

‘Cause Summertime, it don’t last forever.
Breezes cool and the leaves begin to fall;
And in your quiet moments, you sit and wonder
How you've come so far, but have no love at all.

Yes, Summertime…and the livin’ was so easy;
Ain’t it sad how fast the good times fly;
And now your Momma’s looks and all your Daddy’s money
Another sweet, warm Summer’s day they cannot buy.

Paper Thin

Your paper-thin porcelain skin,
I know how to get right under it.
For kicks is why I do it now.
You tell me to love but I never knew how.
Our feet hitting pavement,
We spent the day in sunny California with sun kissed skin.
I’m learning to forget and how to fade scars,
And you let me let myself down so hard.

Your paper-thin porcelain skin,
I know how to get right under it.
And now I just do it for smiles,
We’ll never see flower girls stumbling down aisles.
I’d lose my head just before that chance,
But if you want we can still have a first dance.
Cause I think I say things that I don’t mean,
Once upon a time you meant the world to me.

Your paper-thin porcelain skin,
I know how to get right under it.
But I’m trying to refrain,
To make this not all end up in vain.
Maybe I can learn to love like some people do,
And you can learn to love yourself a little too.
Or it is in all fairness to let this go?
I guess we can try but then we’ll never know.

Goodbye my Summer Love

Though the midnight summer rains
as we sit together under the geraniums,
hanging low and at full bloom,
we hold hands and talk of old times;
times that were kind to us and our youth.
As summer storms light up the night skies
We kiss the storm away, as it rolls through the grey skies
and the lighting cracks the clouds in half,
riping a hole in the universe, as we kiss the night away.

We sit throughtout nightlong summer dreams
and talk, and we hear the storms roll into the golden hills
of summer meadows filled with roses and a field full of daisies.
Love rests in time to see us grow old together,
and love strengthens its walls and pulls us closer together.
We shall go now, as day turns to night,
into our chamber of love and sleep the night away, together.
Hold us close to each other, as I rest my head on you sweet bossom,
and you nurture me to life of talks of love and beauty.

Nature whispers and sings us songs,
as we kiss and go for walks through the countryside
looking at the golden hills soaked in the rolling storms
that summer offers every year, upon a silver platter.
Sooth me, my love as I tell you of the sorrow I have witnessed.
Embrace me with your curiousity and tell me of the beauty in
the secrets of life and its hidden messangers
that hold secret letters from Devils that send temptations
to destroy something that we share, that is so beautiful and true.
Tell me that life will be okay, and my love is still true and with you.
Tell me my sweet and beautiful love, tell me if everything will be alright.

Love has seen us come and go, through the narrowed and sprinkled streets,
as we move through life fused at hands and eyes blind, not noticing the possiblities of death at any moment stalking us with knives jabbing at our backsides.
We are blind, for we see each other and only each other.
As we live life eyes a blazed looking at the sun, we do not notice the obvious between us.
Caring from me, at my time of need I never noticed the betrayal of our love.
My heart sees, but I deny the obvious and see what I hear.

As I see the knife drive deep in my heart,
you with a suitcase in hand,
I stand on my front steps and I watch the summer storms
come back over the golden hills to say, "hello"
Love is the same everytime, like a summer storm;
beautiful to watch, but when it leaves, it is depressing to say, "goodbye"
Now I sit, as the geraniums dry up and die
and the wrinkles at my eyes make me blind,
I see love walk past my house and mock me with lone kisses.

Butterfly, butterfly

Butterfly, butterfly you colorful princess of the summer sky.
We are delighted by your visit in your brightly colored dress.
We view with delight your erratic flight as you come fluttering by.
You make your entrance floating along on some gentle summer breeze.
Going where the breeze goes, tis truly a nomadic life for thee.
Stopping only to sample a blossom’s sweet nectar then you are on your way.
But that same breeze that brought you here causes me to sneeze
And sneeze and sneeze.

The Summer of the Winter Sky

It was time for the leaves to fall,
The fields to turn white,
The birds to leave for faraway lands-
And the long cold lonely nights.

Seemed like for eternity
She hadn’t had a smile -
Frozen was the world around
Lonely she walked for miles.
Dead were the blossoms in her garden,
And love was about to die-
And yet she prayed to her unseen friend -
For the summer of the winter sky!

Not a song was heard at dawn,
Only the echo of the wind-
In the misty field of corn
Not a farmer was seen!
A wait so long, so painful to bear
Left alone with no one so near
She was lost in her own reverie-
With tears in her dreamy eyes.
And she prayed as her heart cried-
Longing for the summer of the winter sky.

No one knows who heard her prayer
Lost amidst the silence
And yet an early morning bud
Blossomed in her garden!
Suddenly a little sparrow was seen
High on the branch of the willow tree
Singing a song as if to welcome-
Amidst the grey sky, a sun so warm.
And love then again knocked her door
Promising a life like never before-
And like a happy child she opened her eyes
For it was summer for the winter sky!

I don't want to leave my HOME - 2

I breathe the beginning of new life in the spring
I feel the gentle gift of life giving rain
I see the newborn Fawn standing on her own
I plant the seeds of my hunger, hues of Flowers, easy on the Eyes

The warmth of the Summer Sun, heats my heart and Soul
The soft summer rain splashes in the Gardens
The vegetables grow while Flowers rainbow the scenery
The gentle wind whispers with the melody of the songbirds

As the Hues of the leaves sparkle along the Landscape
As fall's sunsets rainbow the colorful sights below
As the Northwind slowly begins to show it's rage
As nature's creatures scurry to fill for winter's wrath

When the winter wind begins to howl barren trees stand tall
When the angery snow defiles Mother Nature's Beauty
When the Ice shimmers upon the frozen lakes
When I look I see the beauty of my life, my Home

Summer Storms

Summer brings floods of feelings to surface An impressive time period done shown Having light shine down completely around Very warm with everything fully grown There’s one piece of the season that shows dark Summer rains, warmly falling on the ground However warm, storms are greatly enforced Nothing seems as dark, the sky is sure found Lightning, bright and fearfully striking down Hurling its mighty electric life force Bringing its painful terror to true light The rain from the clouds, come from its high source I know the storm comes in as a lion June seems to be stormy and rainy time A horrible scary time seems secure Fits into some time of day, like noontime Storm comes in very harshly, all about Direly people scurry to find shelter Summer rain is not the best event here Rain is surely a large storm, a basher I look at times passing, enlightenment Knowing the summer might just be the best Even with summer rain, it’s wonderful Rain might be huge, but the summer has zest

A Soul Awakened

For every winter there's a spring
And autumn follows summer on the wing
For every raindrop, there's a ray of light
And darkness is always conquered by light

For every smile there's a frown
As even roses have their thorns
And when one thing dies, another is born
The circle of life goes round and round

For each hello there is a goodbye
And every summer has its butterflies
Laughter reverberates to drown out sorrow
But tears of sadness may come tomorrow

Every soul that dies will awaken
Though they rest they are not forsaken
One day when that great trumpet sounds
Every soul will have an awakening

The Sounds of Summer

The Sounds of Summer

I was trying to hear the sounds of Summer,

Which often comes with heat and dust like a hammer,

Suddenly I saw, lots of clouds hanging in the air,

They were covering the Sun, as if some mystery was there.

How amazing and mysterious are the summer clouds,

How beautifully the Sun is trying to peep out,

How lovely is the breeze, blowing all around me,

Intoxicating my mind, with its ravishing beauty.

How beautifully the birds are singing and chattering,

While flying in the air with their soul mates, touching the clouds,

How enchanting is the fragrance coming out from summer breeze,

How lovely is the bunch of yellow flowers, calling me there,

While hanging on the tree of Amaltash,* and embracing it completely,

Oh yellow Amaltash,

Why you bloom, so enchantingly in summer only.

How gently the Sunbeams have touched their smiling faces,

How softly the lotus is opening its petals,

And the Roses are spreading it charms in the air,

Should I remain here or should I go there?

After those alluring summer charms, which call me from here to there,

Or should I stand still to understand and to determine,

What is the mystery of life? Which fascinates me every where,

How really blessed is human life to enjoy such blessings,

Which we often miss in our life by just overlooking,

Since we are accustomed to hear, the usual sound of heat & dust only.

Smiles of a Summer night

Radiating through violet shadows
resplendent rays of moonlit charm
Smiles of a summer night.

Velvet moss on pavement grey
elegant shimmer of crystal stream,
Radiating through violet shadows,

Maple adorning colors of Fall,
bedecking a world, still and calm,
resplendent rays of moonlit charm.

Butterflies engaged in spirited plays
Gently rings the memory bell, like
Smiles of a summer night.

Poetry Form - Cascade
** Cascade, a form created by Udit Bhatia, is all about receptiveness, but in a
smooth cascading way like a waterfall. The poem does not have any rhyme scheme;
therefore, the layout is simple. Say the first verse has three lines. Line one of verse
one becomes the last line of verse two. To follow in suit, the second line of verse
one becomes the last line of verse three. The third line of verse one now becomes
the last line of verse four, the last stanza of the poem. See the structure example
below:
a/b/c, d/e/A, f/g/B, h/i/C
To make the Cascade an even longer poem, use more lines in verse one. For
example, if verse one has 6
lines, the poem must have seven stanzas so that each line of verse one is reused as
a refrain in each following stanza (a cascading effect).

(Since there's no option for Cascade in the Form drop drown I chose Free Verse)

Dandelion Wishes

Dancing through a field of awakening childhood dreams
Anticipating summer days, life bursting at the seams
Nature calls a shy, young girl outdoors to explore
Dandelion heads of vibrant gold, beauty she cannot ignore
Eager to wish upon the wind, she picks a bunch to blow
Laughing as she chases fluff, seeds search for soil to grow
I remember that young girl and all she dared to wish
Often I slip back in time, soft memories I embellish
Never again have I felt that young, hopeful and free

Waiting for my tomorrows and life's possibilities
I could wrap myself awhile in ornate dandelion dreams
Savoring memories made in the summer sun's golden beams
Happiness danced along with me and petals in the wind
Each time I see dandelions, the joy returns like an old friend
Someday, perhaps I'll pick a bunch and chase childhood wishes again

Summer's Slumber -Kissing The Moon

                                                                    **~~**

  The balmy summer breeze
Gently caresses the harvest saffron moon
While it dreams memories of autumn’s golden red kiss
Trees are shedding their emerald green summer tresses
Kindly kissing the Earth as their garments fall gently below
And flowers have shed their vivid colorful dresses
As crimson amber leaves gently anoint the ground for show

While Summer sheds her beautiful clothes -
Mother Nature lovingly seduces her to dream
She's kissed the shore with her elegant colorful attire
She has painted the world with her exquisite apparel
So now it's time for her yearly seasonal retire
She paraded us with her resplendent painted scenes
Blessed the birds in their angelic symphony of songs
So now -it’s time for her to drink the dreams of slumber
Taking the cup of restful sleep - is now where she belongs

She asks the moon to wait patiently...
  For her splendid colorful return
When she'll paint the world with her radiant painted tresses
Where once more her regal colors will burn
She'll brush the Earth in regal glorious colors
Dressing up again in her brilliant, picturesque dresses
As the ruby red blaze of autumn begins to kiss the Earth
With her dazzling hues of gold and coral valor

But before she goes...
She gently reaches out with her one last caress...
Softly whispering as she sweetly kisses the moon
”It’s time now for fall - it’s time for me to undress”
She softly breathes her dulcet ending tune...
  "Goodnight", she gently whispers ...
"I’ll see you soon Mr. Moon
Please...will you wait for my return?

Quietly - she drifts into her splendid, peaceful dreams…
  Slumbering peacefully -
Safely harbored in Mother Nature’s loving arms
As mellow zephyrs gently caress autumn's waiting whispers
While the moon drizzles its shimmering dusty charms
Serenading nature with his soft silvery tune
As this luminous gleaming Luna Mister
  Cordially opens his welcoming hands
To September's colors of orange and golden browns
Awaiting the arrival of dancing petals
As he gently embraces autumn's leaf draped lands

Next he’ll greet the season’s sister
From the pristine silverblue Northern Isles...
Awaiting dancing ivory snowflakes he'll cheerfully greet winter
With his warm welcoming golden smile

Perennial Youth

Oh the days of summer will soon be upon us To warm us and fill us with joy Those bright sunny days and cool starlit nights So sweetly our spirits they buoy Gone through a bunch of these halcyon days At my age I should be blasé No matter the number each one's still a joy Like my very first summer's day What wonders this dear old world still creates Each year after year without fail The predictors of doom keep warning us guys But still a new summer we hail So now that I've reached my senior years I've come to realize a truth With many triumphs and some sad events Life shares a perennial youth © Jack Ellison 2013

Hope

A breeze

Gusts of wind

Crashing of waves

Pouring skies

Tornadoes

Forces of nature

Strong and harsh

Yet calm and mellow

No reasoning

Just action

Similar to us, humans

We don't think

We just do

And much like the damage nature does, we have damaged ourselves

We have damaged humanity

We are harsh

And unlike nature, we have no mellow

We are a cruel species

Merciless

There are some of us that provide hope

Truly good spirits

Instead of modeling them

We merely tear them down and break them apart

Soon there will be no hope for us

We will have passed the point of no return

The only thing left is to pray

Pray humanity will change

Pray we can redeem ourselves

Before we ruin ourselves

I pray everyday

I look for those special spirits

And I encourage them to continue their actions

They will create a change

And I will help

So should you

discovery of companions read this b4 my companions

As the night is consumed by crimson mist, I stand surrounded by all manner of nefarious foes, both human and demon, living and dead as I stand my eyes burn with draconic flame I feel the lust ,the lust for blood and vengeance revenge for their words and actions, chains and abuse their acid venom The blades they used that flayed my flesh from my body leaving me with bones and sinew leaving me raw not an inch of skin left to protect me As I start toward my foes, consumed by blood lust and the flames of vengeance when wolves of silver rush in front of me and from the shadow of the wood a man and woman appear both handsome and lovely clad in white; from the black skies a wall of gold and black shimmering with light appear holding back my foes In the air clad in gold and black scales emanating power a dragon comes and from the earth rises a sylph ,a cold wind blows as summer leafs and the scent of honey mix with the frigid air around us and two Fae one of the winter and one of the summer court come walking out of the wind then dragon fire flames the barrier between me and my foes , the Fae speak in an unknown tongue immediately wind gathers gathering my foes in a tornado of such power that non could avoid the earth arose around the fury of the storm as the pair in white strode into the storm soon I heard not pain but moans of joy emanate inside wolves rushed in soon there came limbs flying from the maelstrom of power the dragon rose into the air above the magic’s of those around me soon the smell of burning flesh flooded my nose soon the carnage was over

Longing For Summer

It's almost time for...
Summer
A time to be free
To go a little crazy
Push things to the edge
Longs drives around the town
Even longer nights around the bonfire
Hot guys and beautiful girls
A time for
Fishing
Camping
Hiking
Long days
And even longer nights
It's a time to ditch
The sweaters for tank tops
To peel of the jeans
And slip into some shorts
Feel the breeze caress your face
And flirt with your hair
It's a time
To fall in love
Kiss in the rain
Make new friendships
Create amazing memories
It's a time where all worry melts away
The winter blues are gone
Happiness is everywhere
Life all around
New life,color,sounds
Summer is a time to get lost
Take a road trip to nowhere
Just drive around
Take a risk
It's a time to love life and just
BE FREE!
It's SUMMER!

THE UNHOLY DEAD

   THE UNHOLY DEAD
He would take her to heaven if she chose to go
but her world's just a place for the dead,
if she had a solution he wanted to know,
in a while it would be in his head.

All her world is a place for the unholy dead
she might answer his question two times,
in a while he might see, but will lose it instead
holding out for an answer that rhymes.

she might answer his question, and answer it twice,
"yes I love you but don't want to go,"
so he holds out much longer because of the price
of the things that he never should know.

"Yes I love you but it's not time for me to leave,"
she has told him, but didn't explain,
"Love is something you never should know nor believe,
unless you are a sweet summer rain."

Yes she told him, but didn't tell all that she knows,
he can't see how she loves him so much,
like a sweet summer rain she appears and then goes
to the heaven he wants her to touch.

He can't see how she loves him, his heart is so blind,
nor that they are in heaven--but how?
And he wants so to touch her, and then he will find
they're together in heaven right now.

How they got to heaven, she said time and again,
"I have loved you much longer than me,"
and together in heaven, they see how love's been
for as long as a true love can be.

She has loved him much longer than sweet summer rain
and before she was ever a child,
for as long as a true love that's hard to explain,
from where-ever a true love is filed.

And before she was young, in her place of the dead,
they were younger than love ever knows,
and where-ever love is, in the heart or the head,
they've gone into where-ever love goes.

The fragrance of love

The fragrance of love is like...............

The smell of summer harvested strawberries
a field of lavender gently swaying in breeze
the aroma of freshly cut grass
the salty air of the sea.

Roses in full bloom
clean mountain air
freshly made bread
a newly made bed.

A meadow abounding with wild flowers
the earthy odour of cooling summer rain
the aroma of vanilla
mote champagne.

The smell of alpine forest pine
a scented candle flame........................

A Summer Picture

Here sitting at the waters edge
watching the sun shines through trees
the water sparkling crystal clear
this scene puts one at ease

Looking through the waters clear
stones lie clearly at rivers base
the ripples run at waters tip
peace is evident on one's face

This is indeed summer's picture
making one glad it is here
looking forward to more like this
enjoying such a view so clear

The sun's warmth one does feel
it brightens one inside and out
lifts our full complete person
to heights above without a doubt

Life Is Like

Life is like a warm summer day;
Full of obstacles and delay.
Like is like a summer past;
No single moment will ever last.
Life is like some winter snows;
It has its high points and its lows.
Life is like a winter sky;
Beautiful, until the day you die.
Life is like an autumn wind;
Chilling you through 'til the end.
Life is like an autumn moon;
Foretelling of something coming soon.
Life is like a spring rain;
Giving you something to gain.
Life is like a spring child;
Always smiling, always wild.
Life is short,
So live it tall
And God will see
You through it all.

Distant African Nights

Those Distant African Nights...

1.

The shadows swayed in your candlelit room,

a cool breeze teasing your bare back,

streaks of lightning forked in the Johannesburg night,

as my hands stroked your hair,

kissing your soft mouth,

holding you,

ever so tight.

2.

You whispered that you loved me,

and I kept silent,

the rain fell,
shadows danced,
thunder rolled,

the breeze teased your naked back,

you whispered that you loved me,
as my lips found yours,

the rain washed over our tender nights,

lightning and candlelight,

etching poems on your burnished skin,

yet,

a fear gnawed at me,

deep within.

3.

We parted ways,
and you could never forgive me, you said,

now, after numberless thunderstorms,

the rain that falls,

echo the countless tears that I have shed.

4.

You are long gone,

far away,

happy, I pray,

yet the memories persist,

those precious moments shall never,
ever,

like the Jo'burg rains,
trickle away,

and I wish you well,
for loving me as you did,

for it was I who was not worthy,

then,

and it is I who is not worthy,

now...

5.

You were always true,

it was I who always,

always,

refused to,

to give myself,

completely to you.

Comfort and Content

Day after day the waning of spring,
Burst into summer with blossoming;
The lark is singing wild with glee,
High on a branch of a hawthorn tree;
And daisies fair with the virgin rose,
Deck field and hedge with summer snows.
A cold white moon in a midnight sky,
Paints leaves silver as the winds pass by;
With the happy whisper of phantom feet,
Swirling like dust down the street.

The stars hang thick in the cherry tree,
The west wind scents the briny sea;
Scarlet roses set heavy with dew,
Bring the night I have captured for you.
See the dance of swaying flowers,
As they kiss the wind through midnight hours;
For in the night there is no ear,
Though larkspur stretch and try to hear.
Who calls this vagrant heart in me,
To tread the night in odyssey

My heart is tuned to the night and sings,
Of passion I feel for all these things;
My mind is content and needs no words,
For illusions playing on their minor chords;
Or torn desires and longings deep,
That put an anxious mind to sleep.
What a better gift for a life well spent,
Than the rewards of comfort and content.

BURNED INTO MEMORY

Whenever I smell the sweet aromas made by a log fire,
I recollect past times of great desire.

The crackling of the wood, the heat it produces,
Only more and more memories induces.

There was a time in college that I spent a Summer outdoors,
Each night, around a campfire, with a dozen others.

We sang and laughed and enjoyed life you see,
Mostly, we enjoyed each others' company.

Oh, we cooked our hot dogs and burgers too,
But when the guitars came out, we knew what to do.

We sang our songs of the joys of life,
Few of us felt then the pangs of strife.

Things turned that Summer, at least for me...
  My father died rather suddenly.

I remember the call I got with the news,
The fire, that night, had different hues.

The coals that burned and sparks that flew,
Foretold of a life...different and new.

As I grow older and by some chance,
Smell wood burning in a fireplace by happenstance.

I recall that Summer when my world changed
You might say, my life was "rearranged".

When I hear the hiss of embers that die,
I think back to a time when I asked, "Why"?

Yet, it is still the happy moments of that Summer I miss,
With the sweet aroma of a wood fire, and its burning hiss.

For I would not trade that Summer you see,
It has a special place, here in my memory.

And once in a while I go back to that spot,
Where I was young, with passions so hot.

The sound and smells of a campfire remind me...
Those times are "burned" in my memory.

DIVING IN

Relentlessly Sun beating down Fierce the glare, making me frown Sand, like grains of wisdom, needling Unwelcome, persistent wheedling In the mimeses I will drown Table Bay glistens within reach Waves rolling onto pristine beach Neptune favouring emerald green Seagulls parading, feathers preen Gannets diving – an endless screech The Atlantic notoriously cold Bracing myself – fear on firm hold Salt spray stinging, lashing my face Against the cold I myself brace Welcome water around me fold New Year resolutions we make Bad habits gladly we forsake Fearing hostile, unknown future Uncertainty we’ve to endure Diving in, the mould I shall break © 2012 by Suzette Crous

The Summer Knows

                                                            **~~**
The summer knows she's ending soon
As she blows her goodbye kiss to the moon
And the hues of flowers have slowly died
As the voice of summer softly sighs
In the eve of approaching autumn mist
She bids the Earth her farewell kiss
Promising us her seasonal greeting
When she'll return her summer meetings

Summer's hush tickles the countryside
As the moon sprinkles light over midnight skies
And the summer softly sings her farewell tune
As she gently strokes Heavens of violet blue

She sings her crowning lullaby
Softly caressing the darkening sky
Teasing the Earth in her splendid hues
Walking hand in hand with the autumn new

Dancing stars and constellations sigh
Ushering in the fall as summer draws nigh
She softly sings her goodbye tune
Blowing her final kiss to the moon
Clouds descend in autumn wed -
While she sleeps safe and sound ...
In Mother Nature's midnight bed

                                                                  ***~~~***

Summer Clouds Big And Small

Summer Clouds Big And Small

Summer clouds both big and small
castles in the air I recall
Sweetness in loves dearly missed
Gentleness in lovers softly kissed

So many loves sent to be embraced
too many due to be sadly erased
Yet music brought romance again
gentleness of my lover and friend

Life sent such good times to behold
gifts, riches and such romantic gold
Treasured memories floating around
renewed by the music of era's sound

Castles in the air, loves everywhere
simply sailing forth without a care
Living a young life so romantically wild
flying forth as a lusting, angry child

Summer sent girls so, so very sweet
love's great banquet set for me to eat
Sky filled with romance and sweet kisses
memories of girls and such sad misses

Good thrills dancing into infinite times
words of love set in memorable rhymes
Music of past glories so very sadly lost
sweet pains recast but at what great costs?

The Summer Breeze

One thing is certain about summer
It never last forever
Be that it may sometimes be a bummer
You will always remember the weather

The ocean breaths
As you sometimes hear
Through the summer breeze
And the starry nights are clear.

Sweat and games are ever more real
With a summer breeze
It’s the coolness you feel
Which provokes a peace?

For it’s the memories you’ll steal!

cycles of love

my mark is fresh like snow in air
brisk and mist will crisp on hair
fists ball up from risk to care
whisper and stare but all is fair
love and reason, flow like seasons
the endings blending and quite seeming
parts of hearts, tho awake or dreaming
half is seeing, the other believing
eyes align and beats will sync
eyes a line for heat to sink
taken quickly for a fall
lovers stroll through memories' hall
echoes stir sight and scent
my senses flight keeps suspense
until logic teaches what it meant
all good things come to an end
summer lighting longer days
more hours to burn for lovers lay
precious tokens we hope to stay
from constant change or parting ways
spring into action to save those astray
a few more years can cost a pay
with lives and sacrifice displayed
perhaps tomorrow will be okay
years can fly like clouds in sky
feelings revealing what to decide
and just like that were back to try
to love the same until we die

Fragment

On through the ripples,
Through the shunts and the brushes,
The flickering chants,
The whispered gloom.
I walked, in a still coldness,
Watching in through the firm, glass panes
Of this pavement I made.
There stood three evil eyes
Perched high with a burning, solemn glare
Clad in black.

I stood with living numbness,
Drowned in the rain;
Exempt from their shelter
But Separate from their cave.

My walk was long,
Soon I saw the clouds part;
I gazed, perhaps glided into the blue depth.
The soulful reflection painted within the bay-shaped sapphire,
Too long had I ignored myself…
Depicting a girl, content in her smile
But mirrored by her counterpart.
I suddenly became aware
How rain and sun fall from the same sky.

The hush of the oak branches,
Passing through the park;
Reminded of the ease of empty summers;
Where my eyes couldn't reach the gate.

I turned a corner to the child’s trumpet,
Hollow with smiles
The off and empty notes
Passed right through me.
Was she, blissfully lost to her tune,
Or lost in the dissection of each note?
Lost in the mimicking of each line?
Lost, so that in the process, the bigger meaning faded.

This world holds its breath
In a struggle.
I step alone,
Across stone and soft earth,
Between kindled mirth:
In this summer losing its youth.
This day, this deep
Meander of thought,
Where I looked at the world to find myself.

Then I was laughing at my difference.

Here is the number to my door,
To The World beyond.

Mora Piya Ghar Aaya - My Beloved Has Returned Home

Mora Piya Ghar Aaya (My Beloved Has Returned Home)

Autumn:

the leaves fell, as you left, a bleak chill wafting across the barren space within my being,
you left, taking your smile and mine,
my smile rests with you still, leaving a void impossible to fill.

Winter:

pangs of longing consumed me, my only company in the frigid nights,
my tears remain frozen, within,
unable to fall from my broken eyes, as I searched the depths of the cold, harsh skies.

Spring:

birds returned home, though you did not, and I felt soothing rebirth all around,
memories of you began blazing, their embers stoked,
and at last the tears rolled, like ink on this blank notebook, my whole being pined for you, my very self in anguish silently shook.

Summer:

alive I felt again, the promise of the coming cooling rain, easing the heat of desire,
yet the furnace slowly raged inside, your absence tearing into me, shattering my nights, my longing for you soaring unfettered across the skies,
dancing on clouds, blissfully free,

Monsoons:

heaven itself opened, the deluge an unending dream,
rain falling all around, mingling with my flowing tears,
and then I saw you, you returned, and I embraced you, never wishing to let you go,
and though I may wear the mask of the clown,
if you were to leave again,
my very soul, would quietly slip away, and in the monsoon rains, I would gratefully drown.

Summer Passage

            Summer Passage

Bones burnt white and crisp on deserts open hell of summer
Eyes turn painful red in sun’s fierce and punishing glare
But children only know the surf and blue rolling waves
Cool breezes, endless play, and warmth of friends
Sky and sand take over
Become the blue and white of life
These things pass into tranquility in slow autumnal flow
On gentle orange and yellow spiraling leaves at leisure
Drifting, tumbling as in sleep, with no particular place to go
Autumn catches every fragrance of the harvest too
Lavender and pumpkin tell the truth
The moon grows large as we pick every plant
September, October and November forget the past
As they sleep beneath the green serene
Of summer's grass

what it took me all

In search of summer though hopeless but in vain I cry for summer. Pain broken heart sorrows and hopelessness I had to deal with to get to my destination. Pain over here pain over there, left abdicated in the mystery of nowhere caught in the wrong chemistry. Locked and forgotten my days are over my life is useless at this point, my illusions are devastated I have no future. Been alone in this small cell is my new world, have not learned my mistakes but have learned that life is what you lead it to be missing those wonderful summer moments. It might sound surprising that am not longing to change but looking forward to full filling my dreams. Enjoyable were those days as I made it seem like heavens belong to me, i governed my clan as my name was praised. With the honour of who I was a great drug dealer which am still not regretting, I did what I had to do to obtain my pride. As my mum ruins my world it was like I were never me it was painful it was heartless of her those names she called me "A bastard child, a mistake" I had no other choice. To thee who gave us life To thee who protects us to thee who sees all I prayed to recommending that I have no rights to question him why for he is the almighty and his ways are unquestionable.

Dealing with the agony days after days years after years it kept getting deadlier, I have pleaded, I have suffered I was forced to live again. I felt it was high time to agree on a solution as i made up my mind to rebel, though my beloved mother choose drugs against my life. The love I alter for her never did change an will never. I can still see it happening it was not my intentions to take her life I was only trying to protect my self but things happen. I wasn’t happy neither was I dismal I was at a certain point satisfied. Turning around walking away, my body felt cold my heart felt heavy and empty, I was no more myself I felt different I felt brave I didn’t feel guilty taking the life of the person who gave me life and tampered with it boldly I delivered myself to the police, I murded her I murdered my mother in tears I shout. With 17 in jail and so shall it be till I rot in here. God is with me as I am with myself.
She left in summer by my force as i was born in summer in her pain.

Summer Loving

Summer brings out so much good
your inside reveals a summer glow
fills your heart with happy smiles
removing all the winter low

Sunshine brightens you in and out
sends you to enjoy the beach
with the sand and sea to explore
all that's good within your reach

Romantic walks on balmy evenings
with your true love hand in hand
enjoy the best fruits and its juices
picked fresh as you stand

Watching the cattle and the sheep
in the fields as they graze
while you enjoy an ice cream
pick your flavour it's amaze

Travel on your holidays
to places far and near
see new sights and people
somewhere different every year

Enjoy the beautiful gardens
filled with many a colourful flower
admire the scenery all around
spending many a pleasurable hour

Summers filled with many memories
remember summer years of times past
thankful and grateful for such bliss
hoping we've not had our last

Much Like the Sun.

You look up to the sky.
It is a normal summer day like any other.
Sparse clouds line the sky and the sun beats down on you.
Except this is no ordinary summer day.
This is the day you ship out.
You have said your good byes and cried with your lovers.
The weight of your country rests upon your shoulders.
It beats down on you much like the sun.
It burns you if you are not properly prepared,
 much like the sun.
Much like the sun you are depended on by all that you known.
 Depended on by your country.
 Much like the sun,
you fade away into the night appearing in a different country

A Season's Dance

Bare,
Yet fair,
None can compare.
To the nude silver branches and barren expanses,
That the cool of winter doth bring.
Unless you equate the way the birds sing,
In the start of the fresh, blooming spring.
Or perhaps the warm air,
Filled with crickets’ prayer,
That’s found only in the summer’s afternoon glare.
But then there is the time of the harvest,
With leaves like the paint on the palette of an artist.
Such tender, splendor indeed, in each season is found,
For in Nature, beauty truly doth rise and abound.

How Sunrise Practiced Never When I Forgot to Sing.

I used to sing to him, my mouth would brush across his shoulders and he would dream...

I captured his hair and apologized for staying too long, but, God, what was time when his
breath hung about me, the dancing proclamations that I could be...

more.

I whispered promises to no one but me, I broke every one as the tears I cried for him
became the paintbrushes and canvases that spoke me, and October afternoons were way too
warm when his voice became absent, as I sang to him, through the wind and remembered...

nothing.

He appeared to be way too much and I couldn't hold my hands tight enough to let go, I
wished for his eyes as I blew a strand of summer blond hair to the west and watched the
sky blink and become the moment of waking, and I woke...

up...

to silence as I held myself tighter in the dark that appears right before storms.

Disbelief covered me because time lied and forever ended way too soon, I knew he told me
never and I searched for it, I decided it must exist in tomorrow's sky, in the clouds that
sometimes...

blinked...

but refused to smile.

My lips permitted the escape of my tongue to speak my experiences clearly as I found
myself on the edge of a dream that almost dropped me, and gray blue dresses tear so easily
when storms are unforgiving at the sight of a woman's foolishness, still...

I ran to him with summer feet, bare and burnt, however unaware they were of pain, for I
couldn't lose forever and never was only the way sunrise smiled at me...

teeth missing and fire~struck~angry when alone...

just to find out if sometimes was the way we left when tears strike and his eyes forget
the blue that silences the sky when we laugh the way children do...

and I sing...

forever back to sleep.

Take the Time

As I look outside today
through my window pane,
I see the cloudy weather
about to start to rain
Dismal, dark and dank
it is outside just now
How I truly wish
I could be out there somehow

But alas my view of the world
is confined to this one seat
I cannot walk to go outside
to once more feel summer's heat
To feel the rain upon my face
once more would be blissful
The thought of it while comforting
I know is only wistful

The feel of normal things outside
is what I mostly miss
A snowy winter's day
a snowflakes chilly kiss
The blades of grass beneath my feet
To feel the sun's life giving heat

To walk along a thoroughfare
with its traffic noise
Would be a pleasant diversion
from this endless void.
A stroll in a city park
with children engaged in play
To watch such a sight again
would be an amazing day

I wish I could tell everyone
to take each single second
To enjoy the moments
you so often take for granted
That stroll you take each summer night
so pleasant calm and soothing
Cherish its simplicity
know it's not worth losing

To run across the meadow
into a lovers arms
A feeling I can never know
so I trust it to you now
Take the time to do those things
you can simply do
For when those things are taken
it is those that trouble you

I ask you climb a hill
with your kids today
Then roll down it with them
take the time to play
Walk along a nature trail
take in all its wonder
Run in a summer rain
count the claps of thunder

Do all those things today
and no not just for me
But because its so important
time so quickly flees
The simple things in life
are also its most joyous
Please dont ever treat them
as if they were aweless

I ask you don't feel sad for me
I seek not pity nor sympathy
I wish only that you honor me
By living your life voraciously.

My Beach Girl

I strolled along a beach one night.
I saw her standing at surfs brink.
Her face glistening by moonlight,
I could swear, I seen her wink.

She was an Angel, barefoot in the sand.
I slowly approached; we stared at first.
Upon my first touch of her soft hand,
My steamy summer love, freed my thirst.

Sitting together, as the waves came in.
Our hearts collapsed in love to begin.
Our bodies knew; there was no sin.
Our souls knew; love would win.

Gazing at the stars above, we lay.
Two stars seemed to kiss in the sky.
Enveloping moment, our souls pray.
Embracing each other, we did sigh.

Summer loving, so hot that night,
Our spirits floated above so high.
Encircling the moon shining bright,
Our bodies pulsing, starting to fly,

Summer love is all, I am thinking of.
Bringing us together in Heavens glow,
Breathing in a summer breeze of love,
My beloved Brandy, I love her so.

Seasons of Love

On the day, you say
that you love me;
You shade my life like a blue sky,
that moue in the morning dew.
Like green leaves that dance
on a swagger of air,
Along with the smile
of flowers from the spring.

The green grass is seemed to talk
about the gladness that I feel
it’s a flowering day of my life
and my heart blooms
like roses that grow at the oasis.

it seems like summer
when you say that,
I am the princess of your life
the sun grew, and all the sky
is clear and blue.

Sunlight passionately touches me,
Melodious morning tunes
of summer breeze, that warms my heart
and life is one beautiful rhyme.

You speak to my heart
as nobody else can do
your voice is like a laughter of lilac
Rainbows of roses is all that I can see

On this moment, our love is more than a time.
Like golden leaves on the trees,
that tumbling down.
Green, orange, yellow and brown
and blew them away towards the sky
like a chapter of our love
that ends with a little smile
in the autumn of our lives.

And I keep on asking why?
How does it end?
Like a fallen leaf is nothing more
than a summer’s wave goodbye
for a love we care somehow.

Jackets and sweaters, warm woolen suits
that I embrace in this cold weather
mesmerizing those times
when you used to hold my hands

I walk on fresh fallen snow
it sings a song as I walk along
over the flowers that lie asleep.

Winter is I love too,
in the depths, and then I finally learned
Love, grows and ends.
Beautiful feathery flakes of snow
Let this pain cast them away
let them join in the trumpets of the sky.

spring dream
a rooster stirs the stillness
into dawn

distant hill
a river carrying
the spring

rolling out
of the rice fields –
remaining snow

spring’s end
my infant fingers
the fallen petal

sun bath
an eagle circles
the day moon

autumn dawn --
mother serves white rice
on an almond leaf

autumn sky
patches of twilight

Summer Sunsets

I never dreamed the sun would glisten,
Closing my eyes only to listen,
To that unending breeze of innocence,
Full of ambition and forgetfulness.
There’s something in those summer sunsets,
That for a moment makes one vulnerable.
To muscled charm and brown eyed wonder,
Leaving the moon to clearly ponder.
Barely a teen but closer to a women,
Added with lemonade and ice cream sundaes.
Maybe never to see him one the leaves change,
But summer returns hold those memories.
Wanting the truth my parents warned me,
Would never get me off and going,
But wait another night is dawning,
I shouldn’t keep that boy of mine waiting.
It’s just the end to another summer day,
That I never dreamed would near it’s ending.
The skies are lined with yellows, reds and purples.
And as that breeze blows round the trees brim,
He holds my hand and pulls my face close to him.

Talking of A Fan

I am not talking of a fan
Finger-biting, awe-struck
I am talking of the device
Triggered by a switch, stuck
On the roof, to provide breeze
In a hot day, moving and nice.

(I) remember the hottest day
In my life, on the sands of the river.
With crystal clear water,
But so warm no fish would like.
With a friend sharing the lot
With a pair of rickety bikes,
And the carefree youth in us
Where even the hottest day
In one's life, doesn't matter.

It was forty eight in the city, they said
The hottest in the history,
That some caught unawares, died
That was a long time back, but imprinted
With indelible ink, in the mind.
Whenever they say it is hot
Without fail, everytime
It hits the spot.

Oh, I just forgot I was talking of the fan
For those who just wait and serve
Not surprisingly, it happens often.
No one remembers the pain
Of the workers who sculpted the stone
But commit to memory the name of the king
Who just ordered from his throne.
Shame on me, I forgot again
I wanted to talk, about the fan.

Another Year

Our summer is late this year
Spring showers keep coming still
But the meadow is full of green
And glorious wild flowers seen
Patience, for the sun will shine
We'll have picnic weather sublime
Then begging for cool breezes
And relief from summer sneezes
Too soon the hills will brown
And then be wearing winters gown
Seasons seem to fly right by
The year gone with a sweet sigh

I am so, so sorry

In a field vaguely lit by summer moon,
of dark blue pierced with light,
her sweet madness nearly drove him to his.
Beautiful as freshly fallen winter snow,
lit by starlight and sorrow,
he sings to her to assuage his own pain.
His songs are of summer evenings,
dark flowers,
worlds they'd journeyed,
the things he had seen.
His murmured ballad brings tears to dark conquering eyes,
voice sighing around her.
He longs for the time she melted into him,
changing his life forever.
In the snow of rose petals,
he weeps on her shoulder and sings.
She hums along,
the story so familiar to her.
She would remember little of the golden stars,
he knew,
even less of the unfathomable space and time.
He had seen eternal tempests,
devouring the yellow-gold of suns,
heartbreaking dawns of pearl and sapphire.
He had lost everything and nothing,
yet the thing that rent his life in half,
sat quietly now,
leaning against him and listening to his song.
Crying for things she could not remember.

7 years of a decade

It was my first day of summer school
I dipped out and said "i don't know how to lose"
Time passed fast
And i'm quite sure i failed to last
So welcome back to the one-way road

The summer i met Vicki Marie
told me if there's one thing she'd change
It'd be my way of thinking
Living so carefree
I can't turn back or keep from sinking

Brandon played and ripped that guitar
Madison said we wouldn't get far
Everyone else said "you don't know who you are"
Taking shots down at the local bar
The riots outside the Dejavu
Holly's telling me "I miss you too"

said you were my brother
We'd be friends forever
I can't tell you howmany times
I think back on those days

But i wouldn't change a thing
I would've fought a little harder
Two for one at the local pub
I don't wanna die a martyr
when things fall apart
you got to try a little harder

If i could go back i wouldn't change a thing
Even if it wasn't meant to be
She said, "hey dude
you guys are living so carefree
I too, want to have the time of my life"

A Joyous Trek

A Joyous Trek

An afternoon spent walking the trails
Nature triumphs where city life fails
A short drive to Wapanocca Refuge today
had to let my inner child out to play

First trail snaked out to a lovely pond
saw the ducks of which I am so fond
Up around another very scenic bend
two deer bolted as if we were not friends

This cool day had the turtles out sunning
the squirrels playing, the lizards a running
All seemed to be listening to Nature's tune
Mid July felt like cool morn in early June

A trek to ease a tired body and soul
serenity realized , sweet joy the goal

Robert J. Lindley , 07-17-2014

http://www.fws.gov/wapanocca/

Wapanocca NWR located 20 miles northwest of Memphis, Tennessee,
in Crittenden County, Arkansas was established in 1961 to provided
habitat for migrating and wintering waterfowl. The refuge is located
four miles west of the Mississippi River and protected from the river
by the river levee. Prior to establishment of the refuge, it was the
site of the Wapanocca Outing Club which was formed in 1886. This was
one of the oldest and most prestigious hunting clubs. The club managed
for waterfowl and most of the lake was set aside as a waterfowl
sanctuary.

Today the refuge literally stands as a wildlife oasis in an
agricultural sea. An excellent diversity of habitat exists comprised
on mainly agricultural land, bottomland hardwood forest, early stage
reforested hardwoods, open water and flooded cypress/willow swamp.
Thirty small field impoundments totaling 190 acres have been developed
for waterfowl in the agricultural area. Because of its strategic
location in the heart of the Mississippi Flyway and the diverse
habitat, the refuge is a prime wintering area for migratory waterfowl
and a major stopping place for migrating warblers. Bald eagles, great
blue herons, great egrets and anhingas nest on the refuge.

Daisies and the Way to Undress Summer.

“Dress me in daises,” I said, as if flowers could cover my skin in respectable ways, and
he smiled as my shoe boxes of paint tipped over, as the floor became art and the way I
walked towards him smeared my heart at his feet.

We captured laughter this way, drawing insensibilities in between us, and there was an
element of beauty in the grin of a child when it appeared to dance across his grown up
cheeks, an attraction to Peter Pan, and blond hair in the summer, as I thought I could
capture July...

The month used to sit beside my bed, fluttering night lights to save me from dreams, stars
danced in mason jars and fairytales were whispered beyond moonlight as I wrote them in my
dreams, as I watched seasons disappear into morning light.

I arrested kisses with a word and slipped them in my pockets, he commented on the rips
that always decorated the hems of my blue jeans, I played with the brown flowered
patches at me knees, I looked at him and told him my secrets, I whispered content beneath
the spring as we watched summer rise, as the sky became a canvas and I wished my hands
were more capable...

“Show me the way beyond you,” he requested, as my glance became puzzled, “Show me who you
are.”

He handed me a daisy, he told me to undress, I studied the petals as they fell to my feet,
my toes became blanketed...

and I walked towards him...

the decoration of spring mapping out my heart, and he smiled with a mouth that grinned
when he spoke my name, when he laughed in the fashion of a child and held me under
moonlight when spring faded and summer came.

Seed of Birth

Moments to Reflect
Seed of Birth
After a summer shower I watch the wonders unfold Gods truth is being shown. His love for all shall be known to all who have eyes that can see. The miracle of life that is a delight to behold can be seen in a drop of rain on the end of a leaf. Sparkling like a diamond in the light, more precious than gold, a secret is told. The water of life, without it we cannot go on the earth would be has dry has a bone. A desert: a waste land as hot as Hades and not fit to be called home. The water of life He is known.
The air so sweet and clean the breath of life He has been called. A blessing from the father it is a Gift given to us all. When the air can been seen it is unclean and in this state I call it satans breathe, oh so foul and within it only death can be found.
Flower and trees, grass that is so green that there is not any artist in the world that could paint a more beautiful scene. Concrete streets and black top parking lots; progress is what it is called…maybe not. An eyesore, mans’ master piece his legacy, beauty it’s not.
Like a spring rain or after a summer shower; new life does salvation brings. Like the morning dew shining like tiny jewels, in the sunshine they do glow. Flowers blooming and life a renewing, with Jesus this is how salvation goes.
Rain can be seen as the world being baptized and cleansed, purifying it of mankind sins. This is a fresh beginning but it not at its end it only truth starts when you ask Jesus to come in.
After a gentle rain shower our God reminds humanity of His power and His promise: rainbow in the sky a wonderful, magical miracle, truly a delightful sight. His signature written in the sky, proof that He tells no lies; never again with water will He end the world that has bought to Him so much pain. His tears of sadness, never again will the world end with rain.
The evil one try his best with his temptation and his tests to cause us to die and never to rise; humanity he do hate want to take all with him into that fiery lake. These are the tools of his trade war and strife adding in a touch of worldly lust doing his best to kill our trust in the Lord who has given us so much. The spiritual war is what we are in do not fall for satan schemes. Heaven or hell which one will it be? Like the sun gives life to flower, the Son gives life to all who follows. He who is free is free in deed.
Christ the savior God did send, it shows us that satan cannot win. Like a summer day after a spring rain new life will begin. He will pardon us of all our sins but you must ask him to come in His forgiveness know no end. Open your heart and let Him in then and only then can you win. In Him salvation is guarantee and a new life can begin; so you must choose Heaven or hell where will you spend eternity in?
God our Father gave His Son to the world so that we would have a path to the truth a light to shine in the darkest of time. Allow His attributes to shine forth you do not would to lose your soul. Before time ever begin He love us, will you not trust in Him sight unseen, the One who gives all life meaning?
All it takes is faith to bypass that fiery lake, because tomorrow is not promise and another sunshine you may not see. Time is on no one side, so do not go chasing rainbows you cannot fly. Keep what real in your mind the reality is sin must die. God give His Son to pay a price that He did not owe, the cost was high, but gift that is given for those who believe; is to be by His side, salvation is free are you ready to receive?
Summer shower and gentle breeze,
Golden flower and dew drops of leaves.
Soft green grass beneath your feet.
The only thing sweeter is than life is living with Jesus for all eternity.

The Swaying of the Grass

1.

A path leads,

to where wild grass grows,

sashaying in the summer breeze.

2.

Along the path,
lightness settles within,

feeling the grass,
swooning,
tickling ankles,

swaying to the lilting bird-song,

in a dance of intimate abandon,

brushing the remnants of pain away.

3.

Melodies float across fields of green,

delicately caressing my heart,

teasing emptiness to flee,

comforting the mind,

to silently be.

4.

Walking on,
savouring the peace,

a momentary respite,
from the burdens of the now,

all is quiet,

a stillness cradling fractured emotions,

the grass in the fields sway,

dusk descends,

shadows lengthen,

nudging dimming light to take leave,

of the day

Summer Days

Summer Days

The chirping of cicadas in the early morning light
Bring back pleasant memories of summer time delight
When you were just a school kid and had nothing all planned out
You spent your days like mine I’d guess, here’s what mine were about
You could sleep in late if you want to there’s no place you had to be
Its summer time and school is out and you’ve got the summer free
Head out to the ballpark for a pick-up game or two
Or maybe you’d go swimming; it’s really up to you
And when you’re getting hungry; head on home for lunch
Peanut butter – jelly – lemonade or punch
Leave something on the counter so Mom knows that you ate
And leave a note up on the fridge if you think you’ll be home late
You can leave the house each morning and stay out all day long
At first it might seem funny but that feeling soon is gone
If you get hot and thirsty and you did, heaven knows
You didn’t run back in the house, you grabbed the garden hose
You had to let it run awhile; that water would be hot
But soon it would run cool and clear and really hit the spot
You’d jump on your bicycle and ride for miles and miles
The exercise would do you good and the ride would bring you smiles
And as the day was ending; you’d hear the katydids
You’d know it’s time to say good night to all the neighbor kids
Then as the street lights flickered on; you’d hear your mother call
Time for you to head on home; REPEAT until its fall!

sounds of summer

The sounds of spring is almost gone
and summer follows close behind

The trees are full as they can be
of leaves that's reached maturity

The sounds of crickets frogs and things
and all the sounds that night time bring

I stand amazed as I look around
and listen to all the familiar sounds

that summer brings as each day starts
and know that I can be a part

Of all the things that God has made
so perfect is the plan he laid

The fields are green the flowers in bloom
we know that summer is coming soon

We thank you Father for seasons past
and looking forward to summer at last

Nocturnal Noises

A sun drenched day decided it needs some sleep, again
A nigh time shadow leads to nocturnal noises, again
Then it came; first a bat frequency noted its presence
Then it’s sharp noise; first the crunch, then the crackle
We looked up high, the moon beam caught our eye

We turned to leave, the beady prey took swoop
Too small, it’s shadow cast upon our faces; we turned
It’s breath caught her hair; no scream just a jump
The nocturnal hunt in full flow, we stood firm

Then the beats, then the chorus, then the cracks
A crescendo of noise; more creatures, more shadows
Why run? Why care? Why dare? Why here?
Don’t fear the nocturnal nature hunt

A carnivore, a herbivore; an omnivore;
All present, all here, big and small
We are mere spectators; they don’t care

Natures sway, their way, never to decay
We stood firm
We closed our eyes
We listened
We danced
We felt at one
Oh nocturnal noises; natures natural music

Seeing Him For The First Time

Seeing him on the hot summer day
Swimming in the big blue ocean
We caught eachs others eyes
I looked into his soft but tough sky blue eyes
With my dark big brown eyes
His bleach blonde hair flipping back
As he is running to me
I knew he was the one for me
On this summer day

the Lucid songs we sing

What colour is your blues
For it always fails to reach our spring
Adams abreach
And Eve's the moment
Our gardens sing

If the stars don't reach for you
At least the sun will greet you
Provides the light that allows smiles to blossum
Illuminates the soil that greens your pigment clean
And on to June Bugs you remain unseen

Did you finally settle that dust that rose
With the winters you miss I grow
It left you at a spring time breaze
Did you roll up your sleeves, fall to your knees
draked in the soil from which cotton seeds

Did you prick your skin and bleed
Did you lie in a petal of roses and read
as you gazed upon a sky that refused to die
Did you wish for the frost
To touch the wind and fall subordinate to the cause

And as April died
You realized how much you hated
The fact that summer was over rated
Yea as April died
You thought about how much you hated
The fact that summer was over rated

An Ode to Birth and Death

Darkness ended, Winter released her icy grip; budding crystals soon began to drip.

The Earth then tendered, its surface filled with life; Spring now wed to Summer, the
radiant rays piercing the frozen skies.

But Beauty gives way to Destruction and forests turn to tinder.

Here lies the crossroads, an Ode to Birth and Death.

A flower that slowly bloomed left stranded now in late Spring, scorched by Summer’s rays,
but oh its beauty still remains.

It lives on desolate ground. A mind unfolded, it's heart retouched.

And at last outlasted a depression that once did rule. And you the fair Demise, how will
you compromise? When we together win the prize.

Flailing futilely in a sea of lies; the Fountain of Youth was found, its waters tainted.

Perhaps it’s best not to toy with Life and Death.

The Seasons unwillingly shifting, the Sun now in full bloom, and the flower starts to wilt;

Beautiful, as death begins to set, while Summer touched the Earth.

Petals fall away like tear drops on the skin, and light penetrates in a wonderful array.

Ever growing heat, now begins to drain them of life, while petals turned to dust, carried
away in gusts.

Together fertilized, yet unaware, it only dares to bring about despair.

Death gives back again to Life; an early end to a late start.

A new beginning comes from dust and decay, as the Summer sun now fades away.

The burning skies teaming with gray.

Death takes a new form; white, blinding, crushing and consuming.

Oh but gorgeous it remains, In time, life grows again,

Coming from the wastes of a flower that late bloomed.Yet life anew begins too soon.

In Winter’s last grasp, her touch did drain, when frozen ashes did remain;

Here is life’s penultimate breath, the greatest Ode to Birth and Death.

Summer Nights

Despite my fondness for summer days
And all the fun I've had on the way,
There are some things that can't happen in light;
Hence my sweet memory of summer nights.

The earliest memory I can recall
Was the night of a warm rainfall.
Lightning and thunder clashed in the sky
But I wasn't afraid (I didn't know why)

And of course on the Fourth of July
We watch fireworks adorn evening skies.
Perhaps even with a hot-dog to consume
While watching displays of gold, red, and blue.

The summer nights I probably remember best
Involve a campfire around which to rest,
As well as a supply of sticks and marshmallows
And fireflies flying with tails aglow.

These memories and more, I have in my heart
As well as the people with whom they take part.
And as long as my mind keeps these memories in store,
My fond summer nights will last ever more.

The lark of life.

In the green fields of Summer
I opened my eyes,
And dreamed of a time
Where I’d climb to the skies,
And as I grew up
With a song in my heart,
I knew it was time
For my dream to depart.

So I opened my wings
And I started on up,
For my song was my wine
While the air was my cup,
And as I looked down
To the place I was born,
The green fields were bathed
In the light of the dawn.

Then I sang such a song
In the vale of the day,
While my spirit kept faith
In a strange sort of way,
As I kept rising up
In my Abbey of blue,
I knew it was right
And I knew it was true.

The world that had borne me
Was far, far below,
At the birth of my dream
In the morning’s soft glow,
 And my song was aflame
With the fire of the sun,
As I started back down
To where I had begun.

I passed through the clouds
And my feathers were kissed,
With the light Summer rain
And the softness of mist,
I remembered my birth
As I fell through the haze,
In those green glowing fields
And those soft Summer days.

Then all of a sudden
I reached earth again,
And I looked to the sky
As I sought to explain,
How the ups and the downs
Of a life in the air,
Help my heart understand
How my life is a prayer…

Month Of Summer

As the Yellow Swallowtail Butterfly
Kisses the Purple Phlox tenderly now
Brings memories of summer that flew by
So long ago, hidden away somehow

Memories of that month at the beach_ when
I first saw you long slender body; tan
Skin, but it was not just that _I saw then
When I looked at your humanness that ran

Across the expression on your face__sad
I did not know of the loss in your life
When you looked at me a light came on glad
Our eyes met it was soul love at first sight

That summer of romantic soul mate love
Indescribable bond of few weeks_dove

Changing Season

Crystal white
dew crunches underfoot ...
late winter
late spring
freezing air in April
what will summer bring?

Old folks always talk
about the weather ...
the rain now masking the daily fear
of death.

Its getting closer
permeating consciousness
with its insidious reality.

Yes, what will summer bring
and will I survive
another winter
is how the mind begins
to tally the sand
as it flows through the hour glass
crystal white.

A boy and a girl

I remember the day I first saw her face on the school bus such an uneasy place
we both were shy it took months just to talk soon enough we would always walk
from the stop to her house were I d stand uneasy the sweat would pool in my right hand
One night late after school she came to my house I tried to be cool
she asked if I would like to go out of course I did but I was nervous anxious filled with doubt

we spent a whole summer just hanging out some times I got so nervous I wanted to shout
I recall how she first placed her hand in mine I was sweating so bad I was losing my mind
the touch of her fingers in my sweaty palm gave comfort unknown and a relieving calm
I realize now she was just as scared but she seemed so calm ready and aware

she became my very best friend but even I knew the summer would end
before the fall came an took her away we spent time with each other everyday
a few weeks before school started again we went to the park are spot back then
she looked in my eyes for ever it seemed I was confused and young I almost screamed
then she leaned towards me with the sweetest touch she said shed miss me very much
and then it happen her lips searched and found mine out in that moment it removed all doubt
an innocent peek between dearest of friends learning how such things have there ends
after school started that year she moved away I have not seen her since that day

Forever she holds a piece of my heart the innocents we shared was ours from the start
even tho Ive grown a lot since then that young love is for thick and thru thin
we never took not a thing from one another we held each other up learned from one another
I wonder if she thinks of me I think of her and lonely nights I hope she lives happily
youth is something you cannot keep I miss those days on the grass we would sleep

somewhere inside the shy little boy waits for the day he might see that girl once again
the soul that taught me how to love and to be loved how to end and how to begin
I know ill never see her again I know its only memories something lost to the past
if I would have known it would end that way and be over so quick so dam fast
I would have told her more of the true me maybe then Id feel whole at last
sweet first love I hope you find a life of love and find your faith in the god above
she will always been in my heart and mind and for now we must leave us behind

Summer's Night

In the brightness of summer’s daylight,
the luminous star warms the world with constant rays.
Allowing the new day to come to life,
by bringing the precious gift of life to each new day.

Summer’s day always ends with satisfied sighs,
allowing each day to be better than the last.
Resulting in none other than a daily high,
made by nothing but good times and pure laughs.

A spell is cast on those in Summer’s wave,
forcing optimism in everyone in its wide path.
As if happiness flows from within Summer’s rays,
a joy that is so great no one can try to force back.

On warmed days such as this,
I find it easy to say the world is in an inevitable bliss.
Full of interesting awe inspiring twists,
such as an unexpected Summer love’s first kiss.

Truly nothing compares to the warmth of Summer’s daylight,
Except that of the sheer incomprehensible delight,
That is none other than a true Summer Night.

There is nothing like Summer’s Darkness,
the beautiful Moon revealing itself against the sparkled sky.
To often has the injustice been witnessed,
That a mere diamond in the sky, to truly detail, is fairly shy.

Nights still warmed from the bright day passed,
Left over from the Sun’s constant heated beat.
Quietly sitting on a sunset painted path,
Watching the Moon take over right at the Sun’s feet.

Summer

Sun down to sun up summer
One word can leave such pleasure
Schools out and theres nothing but fun
All under the Texas sun
We all go wild and party
They party hearty
We dance and sing
We all tend to have a summer fling
We arise with the summer sun
We all play around and run
We hang with our friends
We never wish it to end
Every one and everything
The memories summer brings
We laugh until we cant breath
In the end we all believe
We remember the summer
A time of thunder

The Invisible Man 27

I wrote the Invisible man poems many years ago. These poems, and I have not submitted them all, was for a little girl who died in a road accident. They are a tribute to her memory. It was a dark and very sad time and I miss her so much. The Invisible Man poems are supposed to to show the the darkness of my world, the way I felt. They are very precious to me. Thank you for reading.

It will be soon midsummer of a fleeting year,
The sward will be brown, flowers faint and few,
Songbirds are hushed all but a faint but clear song
And 'larum of the bird-boy reach the ear,
Through the warm air floats forth lime's sweet scent,
And wayside branches have lost the rose's bloom.
The corn is golden along a thousand sea like slopes,
All crisply rustling to a living breeze, and dancing.
And among the billowy sound of summer trees,
I wander, pondering on departed hopes, people I have lost,
Pleasant lives departed, taken far too soon.
I walk alone, and will forever for I am so very lonely,
What of those blessed affections have I found and lost,
As we grow life should ripen like its summer corn.
Which has from my feeble weakened grip been torn,
Of all the love with which young life was crowned?
Hearts, which if I would seek, I would not know where to look,
I only know where to find their graves, they have long been there.
These lives fell away like leaves when life was too new,
Stabbed by grief to which the fairest clings, to hopes for,
I have lived on through many springs, hope always lets me down
No greenness or happiness follows where those first buds died,
Still glows the heart, but it glows without the power of love,
Her image is with me daily, straight from her good heart,
Of joys, proud thoughts, sweet sympathies now we are apart,
Which I drink in like one who thirst cannot be quenched,
Fearless that her, like no man's weak faith should fall,
Her face should darken, or her pleasures are small.
Yet, why should I be sad? For I have found,
One true companion, one dear, dead soul is mine,
Who talks in my mind and does sooth, amuse, refine,
And on my heart, one day, will be a cheerful sound,
Of light footsteps in my ears, that I have been found,
Even today in my hopes and joys I remember my happier years.
Then though the false depart, and the weak descend,
Through lights which seemed immortal will cease to burn,
My bitter tears of mourning will put out the light,
Life's sorest sight, life’s work, life’s love without end.

Don't Tell

A cold drop of rainwater fell on my eye,
          Awakening me from a deep sleep;
I felt queer:
              "Hope my freckles haven't faded,
For summer's come and gone;
                     Today is cleaning day...
Bedroom...first;"
                   I turned on John Mellencamp,
And washed my walls which
                       Were painted antique white;
After rearranging my furniture,
I placed on my brass bed, a new
Ensemble of white satin ~ oh, so gentle;
"I really hope my freckles haven't faded,
For summer has come and gone;"
I carefully washed my window till it...
Squeaked,
Then stood for a long while;
I removed my oversized flannel shirt,
and felt the sun's warmth on my breasts;
"Perhaps my freckles faded but little;"
Upon buttoning my shirt, I hung exquisite
              White satin curtains that brushed
                                       The floor;
Candles of violet, light blue and white
Were placed randomly throughout,
Just prior to polishing the sturdy oak floor;
       Finishing touch...a crystal chandelier...
Heroic...Hanging from my ceiling...
          I stood in admiration...observing the
Magical sun dancing in hues of red, violet
                                 And blue;
As I showered, the warm water enchanted
My slender body...and...my soul;
             Never before had I felt so peaceful;
As I slowly massaged my thighs with
Vanilla cream, I observed that freckles
Yet coveted my nose...bosom...legs...
Summer embraced my waist and softly
Whispered the secret into my ear...
I proceeded downstairs, poured a glass
                 Of wine, then...

I politely asked my lover to leave.

They Said Goodbye

As they end their search
for fireflies with only 3 in the jar
I realize summer is nearing its end.
The signs are all around me.
How did I miss them creeping up?

The tiger lilies that proudly
lined the driveway,
greeting each guest with a
brilliant show of color,
are now nothing more than green
swords waving at the kids as they
ride their bikes past.
The once bright orange blooms
are lying on the ground
crisp and brown
waiting for the next good breeze
to take them on their first (and last) journey.

The neighbors tree is starting to
change into it's Autumn wardrobe already.
Its uppermost leaves shimmering in the sun
an almost exotice combination of
reds and oranges.
Its message reads as clear
as if it were a billboard:
''SLOW DOWN- Summer ending soon! ''

I see even the kids are showing
signs of Falls quick approach.
They're losing that spring in their step
and now are moving along at half-pace.
They seem to sense the upcoming school year
and I can see the dread in their eyes
as if they're losing their best friend
and there's nothing they can do about it.

With a look of hopelessness
I watch them open up their jar
to release the 3 fireflies.
But, unlike their usual releases
where they tip the jar upside-down
and shake the creatures out,
this time they just removed the lid
and set the jar on the picnic table.

They sat there patiently
watching until the last firefly
had found its way out.
It was as if they knew
this would be the last time
they caught them until next year
and they needed time to say goodbye.

This my hand will rather the multitudinous seas incarnadine

After the summer sun, once the waves have had more than they can swallow,
a melancholic mood looms large, wherein the floundering victims wallow.

The sudden descent into silence hits harder than the outburst of noise before -
because the volume alteration is accompanied by a message we choose to ignore.

Empty crisp packets blow aimlessly across the void of vacuous beaches,
this incisive message resounds repeatedly, but is lost on the audience it teaches.

Strewn across the fields,
is produce of the summer’s yield:
broken buckets and spades lie dishevelled, dreaming of the sandcastles they used to build.

The owner of the café passé on the pier
returns to her farm for the rest of the year:
hindered by the accumulation of summer commerce: the litter she has to clear.

The greasy burger wrappers
serve as an embodiment of what matters:
the ignorance and carelessness of a hedonistic society, that leaves our world in tatters.

The non-biodegradable remains of tourism and consumerism mask the countryside’s face:
assorted towers of summer’s rejects distort its authentically elegant landscape.

The litter is unavoidable, profit takes precedence for those in need,
so we slowly tarnish our world as a consequence of greed.

A murderer in the dock, society tries to conceal the facts:
our fast and furious lifestyle will prevent the earth remaining intact.

Season Of Life

Spring, the season of new, the growth of the leaves, the newly born babies, and the beautiful flowers we see. ~*~ Summer, warmth plentiful and rich, the warm river waters flow, wildlife abundant, no migration we know. ~*~ Fall, cool nights, the anticipation of colors, as the leaves change, finally the frost covers. ~*~ Winter, harsh and frozen white, hibernation and ice cuts into life's pace, snow pack plentiful, somehow we feel renewed, the migration returns as with life's abundance! ~*~ Just as we are born, its our Spring, we grow to our Summer of teens n' twenty somethings, late Summer n' Fall we peak in liveliness, and the fatality of Winter appears just way too fast!

I Am Not Asleep

If summer is no longer summer
And the leaves begin to fall-
Prey, I no longer love you,
And I’ll call your name no more.

If I’m found amongst the leaves,
And the rain falls from the sky,
Prey-let me sleep.
And please, don’t ask me why.

When the night curls round me to sleep,
And when it silently dreams
I lay awake in solitude.
So lonely, and torn at the seams.

I cannot see the beauty,
So I lie amongst the leaves.
When you find me, my love, I prey
Kneel and sing a song for me.

But now, summer is summer,
And I am not asleep.
So take my hand and walk with me.
For your love I am sure to keep.

Hay Meadow Creek

The Hay Meadow Creek divides my Parent's land
Its waters run clear and true
It then flows into the Prairie
Along untended Lincoln County lands.

The Prairie is a little wider
A little deeper too
Its banks are a little more traveled
By seasoned anglers through and through.

I like to hang my head
over the Hay Meadow Bridge
I like to watch the clouds sail overhead
Reflected in the creek's moving pools, over branches left long dead.

The bridge has been there my entire life
Just down the hill and around the corner
A place for quiet solitude
A place to reflect on my sheltered life's wonder.

I like to watch the dragonflies
Dance along its tangled banks
On magical summer fairy wings
while June Bugs and Bullfrogs like to sing.

They dance and hover along the banks
The banks that are their borders
The shores of their horizons
Now that I am in my later years
I miss these absentminded visions.

I can see the brown trout swimming
from my elevated place in Heaven
I can see some rainbows also
From my seated place of speculation.

I can see their shaded outlines in the deeper pools
Colored copper by the iron in the creek bottom's residues
Along with all of the granite here
Its a gold mine of rocks and pebbles.

I can see their shadowy figures dance and sway
There are no anglers casting today
And so their lives will be spared until another day
When hooked and caught, they will be carried away.

To where they will be someone's breakfast or lunch or dinner
But not today, they are safe as I gaze upon them today
There are no anglers in sight
The Farmers Almanac predicted not
Not until theMonth's next Fortnight.

The Creek bends slightly before it arrives here at the Bridge
There is a rapids flowing, a rapids of water meeting ridge
I can hear its music played aloud
Between the rocks and boulders a tune.

A song whose voice changes very little during the day
Only when the Spring and Summer rains come along
Or when the Winter's temperature turns all movement into solid ice
Ans then silence becomes the norm.

But for the today
I can watch the Browns and Rainbows dance and sway
There are no anglers wading about
To cast their lines across the shadows here.

Their lives are safe, My memories are dear
I will hold them close in my older years
Of the days of watching the Haymeadow Creek
Lying on the Bridge that I held so dear.

Changing of the seasons

From spring to summer.
From summer to fall.
From fall to winter.
things are changing everywhere.
Spring to summer flowers are blooming.
Birds are singing.
Everywhere children are playing.
laughing out loud.
People walking hand in hand.
Just having a glorious time.
From summer to fall The sun is shining up above.
The trees begin to change their colors.
The nights get cooler the days become shorter.
Everything is changing in the air.
From fall to winter.
The days become colder.
The trees lose their leaves.
The flowers lose their blooms.
Snow showers are falling.
Nice time for cuddling with your one delight.
Changing seasons are beauitful here there and everywhere.

Carolina Summers

How sweet the honey suckled air,
long summer days without a care,
(our childhood feet were always bare),
spent playing in the hot sun's glare.

On summer nights we played 'til dark,
in fields among the meadowlarks,
to us, it was a real ball park,
we left there sweaty, faces marked.

Through darkness lit with fireflies,
(like walking home through star-filled skies),
our sleep was deep, life simplified,
lulled by cricket's lullabies.

Carolina's endless summers,
filled with play and guiltless slumbers,
children free and unencumbered,
unaware our days were numbered.

Those Summer Nights

Good music playing in my ear,
Its got me in a mood to write
Nights like this I just lay here and think
Often about those summer nights
I remember every little thing
Just young girls trying to be grown
Thought every guy was 'the one' for us
Sat waiting by the phone
Little bitty bikinis, sitting by the pool
Just wishing a guy would sit right beside us
Because getting the hottie made us 'cool'
Sneaking out way past curfew
There wasn't a rule we didn't break
"Omg, he told me he loved me!!"
Our hearts were so easy to take
Looking back, reminiscing
Smiling at every thought
We never gave up on chasing the fun
Even if we did get caught
A lot has changed throughout the years
From girls we now are women
The bond we have will never be broken
Even tho our lives are completely different
There might be miles between us,
Maybe even right next door
Telling each other painful truths
But that's what friends are for
Tears have dropped on shoulder after shoulder
Wiped away by the same ol' hands
After every heartbreak and all the pain
Together well always stand
There came a time when I had to wake up,
Reality hit me so hard
I knew I could no longer be the kid
I could no longer play that part
Being mommy is my life now
Being a friend falls in right behind it
Ill never regret a moment spent with my girls
They're all memories ill never forget
I know God purposely intertwined our lives
I believe everything happens for a reason
Ill never let go of the sisters He gave me
Til the day that I stop breathing
We've grown into adults now
We'll eventually go our seperate ways
Always going to have each other
Thru all the happiness and the pain
I often go back to those summer nights
Thinking "how stupid could we be?"
But we were just kids out breaking the rules
When life was easy and care free!

A Warm Summers DAY

After many years I paid a rare visit to the woods from my long ago childhood days,
Things have changed since boyhood, the bees are silent, the landscape has changed,
Gone, honey-laden scented flowers of the old sycamore now just crinkled old leaves,
In their place hang dainty two fold keys higher, much higher, than I ever remember.

In these trees my friends would play, climbing high much higher than I would now,
Pulling lower branches swinging legs over to get onto the start of our Everest climb,
Making our way up the trees, a little scared but not sharing my fears with the others.
Standing very near the top can’t go higher the branches too thin to take my weight.

Now the poplar has lost its metallic shimmer; the chestnut's grown with white candles,
But still the wind in the fully leafed branches sound like the sighing of a gentle sea,
The martins' nests are still there, one occupied by a shrill voiced healthy young brood,
With parental cares over the nestlings, flutter unsteadily, across green grassy Valley's.

Standing very near the top of a tree we could see over the rooftops of nearby houses,
The branches fork, we sit, a leg on each side of the bough, slowly moving outwards,
Better be a bit careful as the branch gets thinner, dead wood at the end will snap off,
Sitting here on the top of the world, holding on tight, hoping the wind will be calm.

Heads of golden, and brown, hair blow carelessly in the light warm summer breezes,
Smiles on thin faces crease and dimples appear adding a dimension to sunburned skin,
Summer clothes of cotton, bright red dresses for girls, blue jeans with turn-ups for boys,
Short sleeved shirts opened at the neck some baggy as they wore older brother’s clothes.

I remember robins their ruddy vests and the slim thrush singing with a mature note,
These days were so special, remembered like a picture lovingly painted on a canvas,
There was always fresh beauty amid the glories, people grow up in life like strong trees,
Playing among the marigolds their orange suns and the lilies white like a gentle flame.

Thinking back I see the corncockles blue crown, and the honeysuckle’s horn of fragrance,
I stand where I stood before, a lifetime ago, deep in thought, holding on to my memories,
It was a time taken for granted as children, these times would last forever never change,
loveless home life retreated to the back of my mind, forgotten on a warm summer day.

70s Summer Memories

Oh these lazy hazy days of summer
in sunny Scotland that I remember
where these balmy warm evenings
in the early 70s right through to September

Having just passed my test
drove my first mini car
spent early evenings with a pepsi
in the local wimpy bar

Spent some nights watching soccer
watching young talent of tomorrow
listening to radio that did rock
Beach Boys, Blondie loved it with no sorrow

Well now in my autumn years
looking back with experience of time
seeing through with all my hindsight
these were days of quality prime

Everytime

Everytime i see your face
boy you hotter than the summer day
you melt my heart with your warm embrace
the feelin of love i cant escape

The reason i breathe is you
you got not knowing to do
boy im so into you
i have mad love for you

Everytime i see your face
boy you hotter than the summer day
you melt my heart with your warm embrace
the feelin of love i cant escape

Its so obvious how i feel for you
but i dont think you notice it boo
i want to be more than friends
i want you to be my man

Everytime i see your face
boy you hotter than the summer day
you melt my heart with your warm embrace
the feelin of love i cant escape

so i engraved your name upon my heart
even though youre not mine
in my mind you are
i cant stop thinking of you
the wonderful man you are

Everytime i see your face
boy you hotter than the summer day
you melt my heart with your warm embrace
the feelin of love i cant escape

everytime i see your face....
everytime i see your face...
everytime i see your face
i cant stop thinking of you

My Precious Squirrel: Memory of a Tree

I was born at the edge of a field
that captured the shadows at sunset
I was an adolescent,
when I watched men plant odd, angular rocks
where a strange, hollow tree sprouted,
maturing unnaturally fast.

I was disturbed to see the creature’s marrow shape,
no rings, only a labyrinth
of vertical and horizontal lines

An alien cousin perhaps…

It was some time after the strange tree formed bark
that I saw it glow for the first time…
So many eerie eyes glaring like creatures of the dark
I was chilled to my roots

In summer people came,
squirrels with two legs, they busily made a nest there
and the tree howled and laughed by day,
and watched with bright, vigilant eyes at night

The smallest squirrel often wandered away
and came into the grove of my ancestors
and climbed into my arms;
she seemed so strong
but when she nestled into a crook
and watched the clouds roll over hilltops
seemed so small and fragile,
the weight of her thoughts heavier
than the weight of her body

She came when the sun scoured the field
and before the rain
alone, unafraid
her face always a storm of contemplation.

Sometimes, she would talk to me,
tracing my wrinkles,
asking questions and seeming as if she understood
the whispered replies from my leaves
and the creaky laughter of my branches.

She made me special.
She could have sought
the cradling branches any other,
but she chose me, claimed me as her secret.

Her chubby fingers and tiny feet
tickled my existence
until she no longer climbed.

Instead, she warmed my roots
As she stared into the hills,
a magic branch pressed the contours of the valley
onto sheaves of white leaves
replacing her voice.

I imagined her rings forming,
perfect, wise circles, though no wrinkles etched her bark
she was changing so fast…

And then she came no more,
none of the squirrels came,
the strange tree stood abandoned
even when I was dressed in respectable summer green
and I thought, perhaps
she had found more interesting landscapes.

But one day, she returned,
the same and yet very different
and brought with her two small squirrels,
each resembling her

They brought laughter into the grove,
climbing branches and squealing in delight
and my old friend once again settled at my roots
with her magic stick and white leaves,
writing and drawing me into her memories

just as my precious squirrel
was already ingrained in the very rings
of my heart.

Torn Soul

Twisted tatters of a torn soul,
bound forever on the the wind to blow.
Never to alight and never know,
the comfort of rest, of being whole.

Broken branches of a beating heart,
stilled at last by a summer of storm.
No longer the leaves of summer form,
forever, from the tree, now set apart.

Summer Day

Summer Day
Walking down the dusty country road
Skipping rocks over the creek
Running through the pasture chasing cows
Taking a long dip in a cool lake on a hot summer day
Catching a horny toad to bring home to Mom
Whistling my way down the long dusty road
Free to do whatever I please along the way
What a great way to spend a summer day

HIGH SUMMER AT CASTLE HEARTSTONE

When Spring turned in to a Summers day
The Summer Queen returned to play

High summer...........
The warm days......
Wind sighs.........
Blue butterflies..........

The King of Water ,happy to see
The Summer Queen
For, the water blue...............
Loves the deepest green

How the trees and flowers grew
The wand of the Summer Queen ,
touching all
How beautiful the holly bushes.......
By the Great Hall
The birds and butterflies flew

Through the Whispering Trees
The sound of the lark..............
Floated on the breeze

High summer........
Sunny days
The joy of life,
continues to amaze
Castle Heartstone...........
amidst golden haze

The King of water and his Queen...........
Renewed their love in the Great Hall
The Heartstone looked on..............
How the sun shone!

The Tapestries knew..........
The love so true........
The colours showed.........
the West wall glass, glowed

The Castle grounds........
Filled with colour and sound
The summers' symphony
The birdsong all around

But alas!
Summer cannot last..............
For, on the horizon
Autumn leaves cast,
thus begins the circle again

the expectation....
is the pain i write
will be only
a something faintly
remembered

lesson learned
lesson earned
tied up in a scarlet
ribbon in my rubble

laughter in the summer
yellowed as the white i
wore and obscured by my
view of you

playing, laughing... rescuing..
and acting like we were grown-
ups living a life

how much better the
hot summer used to get
hot...wet...tanned with
sweat on our lips and
kissing like children at
the fair

playing enough not to
hurt two hearts we
said.......

then....

Forever we spoiled the
summer of 76.

Sissy

Like a school boy who turned red as the little girl batted her eyes,
like puppy love at summer camp two weeks was like a life time,
like a snow cone on a hot summer day... melting down the sides,
38 yrs.old, time chiseled yet you bring out the sissy no one can find.
A smile as wide as a 9 yr.old on Christmas morning,
a laugh as heart felt as a little baby or a child at three,
like the early bird eager to raise and to perch and sing,
after all you still love to see that sissy smile you bring me,
to buy roses not any ones the ones that I now will make you smile
to sit and write you a poem of love and forever
to dress to impress you even for just awhile
no one would even think this of me... a sissy never
no one knows no one can see,
you make me fill like a young kid,
to hold your soft hand is to be free,
look can you see?heres that sissy I hid.
as life washes over me,
as it rains problems we all have,
by my side looking waiting to see,
that sissy... and it makes you glad,
my heart is you,
   my world ... I see,
      in your eyes of blue,
that sissy you see in me,
my valentine,
   you are to me,
        my every thing,
            love your sissy.

The Drugs

Last week of my summer break
Hanging with my friends like always
Thats when I stumbled acrossed you
And suddenly I felt my heart grew weak

Instantly I fell in love with you, thats no lie
My soul fell for you as soon as I looked into your eyes
For they looked as though the sun was shining
directly into them

He looked at me with more compassion
Then I had ever felt
Talking all summer just me and him
About everything and about nothing

What changed that autumn??
Was it your new friends
Because I saw what you did to your old ones
What made you into this kind of monster???

Although I never told you how I felt
I would still stay up at night and cry about it
Then the final day came when I found out the truth
How drugs were destroying the man I loved

From autumn to winter and from winter to spring
I couldn't believe how different you looked
Your eyes no longer shined like the sun
Your muscles weaker than ever before

I knew you were dying, I told you to stop
But you told me you didn't care
I wanted to leave you
But I knew you needed me now more than ever

Summer comes around, schools are getting out
And off you left, leaving me all alone on this earth
Not even old enough to graduate and yet your gone
I never stopped warning you, but I still feel I'm to blame

Hot Summer Night

Steamy summer love made our set.
Hot summer night, when we first met.
I kissed her neck; she looked in my eyes.
Drunk in mind and heart, to our surprise,
She took my hand; we kissed our first kiss.
I knew then, that night, it would be no miss.
Upon the sandy beach, we gazed at the stars.
Our night impressed by the red planet, Mars
Hours turned to morning daze, what a craze.
Dawn grew our blaze, a new day to praise.
Summer love was what we were adorning.
Our blend would rise above any adjourning.
Sweeter love then candy, glistening so sandy,
Summer love dandy, I love my darling Brandy.

Gasoline or Food

Gasoline or food is what I have to decide. My feelings about this subject I cannot hide. Another summer is driving the gas prices high. Monetary complacency is something I can deny. I have to get away for the summer from this dump. However, it costs too much to fill up at the pump. I would like to buy gas, but now I am hungry. Do any of you out there feel the same as me?

mediocre longings

“need to lose a few lbs. before
summer. need to lose a few lbs.
before summer so i can get that
tat i saw in the ink shop yesterday
(twas so very pretty). got to save
up so i can get that tat i saw in the
ink shop. need to watch my calorie
intake so i can lose those lbs. before
summer, so when i get my new tat
that was so very pretty, it will look
good on me, that is, i will look good
with it on me. hope i get that interview
this week. hope that i’ll get that
interview because then i can start to
make some real money, because, if
i start to make some real money i can
save up and get that tat i saw yesterday
in the ink shop, but not before i lose
a few lbs. got to watch my calorie
intake in order to do that. but i have to
exercise too. i definitely hope that
interviewer calls for that job then,
because when he calls i can ace that
thing and i will finally be making real
money. finally put that college degree
to some use. got to pay that thing off.
i will do that as soon as i start saving,
but not until i get my tat---the one i
saw in the ink shop yesterday, it was
so very pretty. it will go good with
most of my outfits. but all my outfits
that fit me now, i’ll have to get rid of
when i have lost that weight. got to
do that before summer. lose those lbs.
before summer will mean i have to
watch my calorie intake and exercise
though. i will have to start running or
go to a gym, or both. but a gym costs
money. but that’s alright because when
i ace that interview this week after the
guy calls i will be making real money.
then i will be able to finally get some
new outfits that will go with my pretty
new tattoo and i will be able to show it
off, looking so good after i’ve lost that
weight i need to lose. of course that will
be easy after i have been going to the gym
and running for a while. i just need to
save up some money quick after i get
this job that guy’s gonna call me about,
so i can pay for the gym membership.
then, while i am working out and running
i will be saving up to get that pretty
tat i saw yesterday at the ink shop. then
when i get the tat, i will be looking good
because i’ve been working out. that’s when
i will take the money that i have been saving
to get new outfits that will go with that pretty
tat on my new body looking so good and use
it to get those new outfits. after that i will
start saving up to pay off the loan i took to
get my degree, because i can do that any time.
summer only comes once a year, and i got
to lose a few lbs. before summer.”

Walk from Cold Winter to Spring

The summer days have gone away
I am unhappy to start a new day
Along with the heat goes the happy times
Its time to do the sentence for my crimes

As I start my journey it looks grim and long
To complete it I'll have to become intelligent and strong
People say this part of my life is just a small thing
But for me it's a walk from Cold Winter to Spring

As the cold comes theres no place to hide
All the pretty girls have gone inside
No more warm nights, no more green lawns
As the cold demands it, my attention is drawn

As I'm on this cold road of destiny
I keep looking back at the summer times which used to be
As I continue on this lonely path
It seems to take all I have and a half

These Cold Winter nights come day by day
Why have the joys from last season gone away
Seems like I'm going from Jekyll to Hide
All the bad feelings in me found their way outside

As I continue my walk from Cold Winter to Spring
I look at the one who knows everything
I ask God, I say why me?
He says, this is what you need to see

He knows this road isn't pleasant to me
But sends me this way to leave what I am to become what I should be
It's the road of a boy becoming a man
The road to fulfill my life long plan

As the snow piles the road and come on the street lights
A smile comes to my face because I know the Spring coming is bright
Through I didn't choose this path and it really wasn't my thing
I was happy to take this walk from Cold Winter to Spring

Come to me my green eyed girl

and give me something

that soothes me like a summer storm

so easily my green eyed girl

sharing my life's burdens

and keeping my spirit warm

We both rode that roller coaster

getting stoned laughing, and getting sick

but now we're home and the ride is over
Lets do it why don't we just do it

Come to me my green eyed girl
and give me loving

that soothes me like a summer rain so easily my green eyed girl

come to me girl and come and come again

I know we've both gone off the high dive

we close our eyes , hold our breath , and go

and I thank God that we're both still alive

cause we never checked the water down below
Everything has a reason they say

I know there's a reason why I'm feeling this way

Come to me and come to me again

The places that you take me

sure better than where I've been

Yeah we both rode that roller coaster

getting stoned, laughing , and getting sick

but now we're home and the ride is over
lets do it, why don't we just do it
Come to me my green eyed girl

and give me loving

that soothes me like a summer storm

so easily my green eyed girl

sharing my lifes burdens

and keeping my spirit warm.

Golden morning light moments prior to pastel holds so many hues
Waking into beams shining on our window screens rise no time to lose
Stumbling out of bed standing taller once again things becoming clear
Automatic drive eliminating thinking slipping into gear

Sitting holding cup lost in concentration coffee waking thoughts
In my mindless state wrapped together tightly unconnected caught
Take another sip then gather a few to use lightly brushed in prose
Noticing the way that the Summer helps the muse rise from sweet repose

Wending through the day enjoying every part light and carefree hearts
Skip to summer breeze so contented with the ease life wings on to please
Endless Summer days remembered youthful romance evening foggy haze
Seasons too soon turn each carries lovers delight lately lazy days

So we savor time enjoying what we're given living hand in hand
Gardening and tied loving every moment grateful of eden

It Seemed Summer Would Not End

‘Round the bunkhouse and corral—
Seven years old, without sin—
My yeller dog was my pal—
It seemed summer would not end.

The warm days went by fast—
It was time for me to wean—
The good things just do not last—
I was all of seventeen.

Like a horse the years go by—
Twenty-seven and still free—
All the years they seem to fly—
It seems that some things must be.

I am thirty-seven now,
With a wife and hungry kids—
A ranch, cattle, pigs and sow—
And look back on what I did.

Forty-seven comes too quick—
All my days peel off like bark—
Half my cattle are all sick—
All my days seem bleak and dark.

At fifty-seven comes fear
Of the things now up ahead—
So you live life year by year
And hope you don’t wind up dead.

Sixty-seven shows its face
And it ain’t your best ol’ pard—
Others wait to take your place—
This ol’ life is just too hard.

Seventy-seven’s now nigh
And your bones are weak and old—
So you ask the Lord just why,
Things don’t go like you were told.

Eighty-seven was a dream
That you never thought you’d see—
But things aren’t as they now seem
And you’re content to just be.

Ninety-seven now comes fast
And it will not be a friend—
But you knew good things don’t last—
It seemed summer would not end.

Time Well Wasted

George talks about 'Them Cowgirls,"
While Willie's "Blue Eyes Are Crying In The Rain."

Tim talked about "Back Then"
And Bucky admits "It Was A Different Life."

Toby is a "Man Of His Convictions"
But Brad is "Better On Line."

Josh "Stopped Loving Her Today"
But Kenny said "She Can't Be Anything But Mine."
Does that mean one of them will have to "Walk The Line?"

Kenny says "Don't Blink"
Or you may find Tim is "Already Home."

"Tear Drops On My Guitar" has Taylor like Lambert
"Famous In A Small Town."

I arrived "Down In The Boon Docks"
Only to find Rodney was "Going Through Hell"

Rascal Flatts hit the "Long Broken Road"
Telling my Billy "You Are The Only World I Know"

Tracy Lawrence was talking to "The Keeper Of The Stars"
And Lee Greenwood was asking "God Bless The USA"

Toby Keith was bursting with pride as he said "I'm An American"
And John Michael Montgomery was busy sending "Letters From Home"

Darell Worley asks "Have You Forgotten?"
Toby Keith replies with "The Taliban Song."

"Yee Haw" hollered Jake Owens
While Steve Holy "Got A Brand New Girl Friend"

Direks says "Free And Easy Down The Road I Go."
While Tim and Faith were telling each other "I Need You."

Josh asks "Would You Go With Me"
As Dierks Bently agrees with me " Every Miles A Memory"

Kenny C. said "You Had Me From Hello"
But George prefers the "Beaches Of Old Mexico"

I saved this special song for the end.
Alabama's "Angels Among Us"

Every time I hear this song I break out in a cold sweat. Many years ago my
granddaughter Mariah in Casper, Wy was attending the summer camp, on
Casper Mountain, for her boys and girls group. This group included handicapped
children. Friday afternoon the children presented a program for the parents. It
was magnificent. The children helped the handicapped children get on and off of
the stage for their part in the program. The finally began with all of the children on
stage. They played Alabama's song "Angels Among Us" but the children all
preformed it in sign language. There was not a dry eye in the audience. A well
deserved ending to a successful summer camp.

God Bless, Cile

Summer romance

How does one start a summer romance?
Does it simply happen by chance?
Do you fling your arms into some
strangers palms and agree to
do a little dance.

I wonder about these things
because a dull summer just isn't for me.
Neither is waiting around forever
to see if someone might come along.
Why not take this chance to be free.

Now I know that might seem a little
bit unclean to want a summer romance
knowing it won't amount to a thing.
But still can't a girl just sweep those fairy tales
under the rug for a few short months
and just have fun?

No suppers. Lots of do overs
Half sober half intoxicated
lets go out on lots of dates
and have no arguments
wouldn't that be great?

No messy clean up or hearts to crunch
I just want this to be fun for once.
And this could exist in my imaginary world where
him and her could be alright with
just calling it what it was
and having a good nite
But were not okay with that
we have our fun
and than fun turns to wanting
something more than
what can emerge

Even summer romances
get heavy
and in the end
I'll shed more tears
than I'll smile.
We'll never know if something
is long term or just for now.
But still I long for those romances
even if they're only for summer
and don't quite make it to fall.
Any love is special.

Language Arts

A word and a breath but it’s the thought that counts.
Up or down in or out love and trust is what it’s all about.
To you I say can you hear me perked up on the mounts.
You are in or you are out.
A touch and a whisper but it is the kiss of truth.
Knelt or bent I am down on my knees.
And I beg you please.
To me I say can I hear me or am I aloof?
Language arts is a dance in the breeze,
With a summer squeeze,
A winter’s pinch,
The spring’s stench,
Even the autumn’s leaves!
Bathing in the words and dancing like a twit.
Singing in rhythm and painstakingly making a switch.
Language arts is a breeze on the summer Seas.
Lifting you up or pulling you down and spinning you all around,
It will knock you to your knees,
Lifeless and unbound!

Christine

Half a lifetime spent in search of purpose we ponder every reason
In the weather cycles term of life mine came in summer season
Suddenly my eyes were a path to my heart a glimpse of life's high fashion
It was a smile you see ignited hope and awakened sleeping passion
No flash of light nor harmonic sounds just a long sought peaceful feeling
And for my aching heart a wistful lift for my soul a perfect healing
Now as the cycle goes from summer to fall I have you to share my life
And the winters chill we sometimes fear I now cherish with you my wife
So I thank the lord for this special gift he's given me to cherish
Knowing leaves will turn and snow will fall yet our love will never perish

Summer's Sun

The summer sun brought a new kind of love into our lives,
And it made us both shine -
something neither one of us had done
In a long time.

We both fell too hard,
Discovering something that was unknown to us.
We found joy, happiness, and even love.
It was so beautiful.
We went through so much together in the short time you were here.

We had fun-lots of fun.
We laughed and cried together,
sharing secrets with one another.

I can honestly say you were the first person I ever fell in love with.
But we just didn't make it.
What went wrong?
Were we too serious?
I loved you so much and we were so happy together,
But it just wasn't enough.

What is enough?
More love? More laughter?
We never had the chance to find out.

You're gone now, I'm sorry to say.
You've begun a new life and
I'm still here picking up the pieces-
Still living for yesterday
When you were here with me -
Loving me and needing me.

So what now?
I still love you very much and
There will always be a special place for you in my heart.
Winter's coming on now and
I must leave the memories behind and
Begin a new life of my own,
And wait for spring -
The dawning of a new love.

I hope we have the chance to meet again
So we can pick up where it ended,
But until then just remember
I love you and please be happy.

God bless the summer sun
And all the love and happiness it brings.

tome in this orkney beachstead
Warm in the touch of rotting tip heat
splitskinning addies onto top cook rock
smart eyes closed to stinking smoke
feet still wet from tidepool trapsets
Wondering when will weather break
tothers snore beneath the cook smoke
eagle dreams of summer soarings
when will I earn my right to salt
the cook rock's sate with addies left
splitem and fishwall the fire
t' gae doon sweet in morn
the gut sack's full to bait the pool
time t'wash and dream and drool

translation
at home in this Orkney beach stead
warmed by composting garbage and buried green cut grasses
cleaning fish to smoke
feet wet from tending tidal pool traps
wondering when the storm will end
while the rest sleep in the clearer below smoke
dreaming of summer eagles
looking to gain tribe rights
the flat hot rock above the fire is full
gut the remainder and stack them
to cook around the fire
to taste good in the morning
the grass wove rock sack is full of guts
to rebait the pool trap
it's time to wash and dream of breakfast

Rise and Dance

Rise and dance in the summer sun
drink of the wine for you are young.

Kiss, love, hate, and be not still
for tomorrow may bring a Winters chill.

Take your passion by its hair
drag it through the Lion's lair.

Then if by chance you perish young,
you will be thankful for all you've done.

For you will have lived a noble life
by seeking on earth your paradise.

Then those who walk your grave will say
he died so young yet he died so brave

but if the years should pass you by
to gray your hair and still your sight,

then to your memories you will cling
no more your youthful songs to sing.

So drink the wine while you are young
rise and dance in the summer sun.

Healing Heat

T’was on a coolish summer night
Amidst dusk creatures howling
Fullest moon in all its might
Essence of darkness prowling
Life was going on despite
The smell of death still lurking
Hooting owls returned from flight
Whilst bustling fast foods working

The lushes plains were over flowing
Long summer days, glorious delight
Nature’s feast, full bellies glowing
Bountiful prey, no need to fight
All was too good, balance shifting
The reaper saw this “minor” plight
“The edges need a little trimming”
His words while staring at the site

Ferocious speed, his sickle dangling
Takes to the fields with fury swipes
With each foul swoop, retracting, angling
And strikes a rock, a spark ignites
Catches his robe, him not knowing
The cloak of darkness set alight
Sends wildfires meandering
And creatures paralyzed with fright

This fire demon out sprinting
The fastest champion’s muscle drive
Wide-eyed hypnosis, heartbeat racing
Through the terror must survive
Flee from heated clutches chasing
See no moisture in dry eye
Longing for the heat embracing
Fuel unsoothed by wailing cry

Second winds and new beginnings
Tears falling from smokey skies
Transformations so amazing
Blackened gravesite, torched surprise
Through the charcoal trees still burning
Fevered wings prepare for flying
Hope resembled, familiar yearning
Phoenix spirit from ashes rising

To the spigot, to the Spider

At sunset one summer evening I stepped outside to enjoy
the summer evening’s sunset and water the garden plants that were
dying in the draught. So I made my way towards the hose spigot at the
back of the house, and as I marveled at
the purple sunset
a dark writhing Figure appeared before my eyes, eclipsing the sun
and stopping me dead in my tracks.
It was not a dragon. It was not a Ringwraith. It was a Spider, a huge Spider,
busily at work crafting an enormous web two yards across, spanning the forest to
the bushes,
His labor diligent and instinctual like that of a master craftsman.
There I stood, marveling at Its pained yet natural movements, wondering when
some bird or wasp would descend upon the Thing
and rip out the Ugliness from the otherwise
perfect scene. But when I shifted my point of view
and the Spider no longer tarnished the backdrop of the sunset
I noticed It disappeared into the shadows around It
and would have been invisible to all but the
sharpest of eagle eyes. And as I blustered through an invisible strand of the
webbing,
exciting the Demon even further, I knew
that the Thing must go. But how?
I knew how. I would give to It the same thing that I meant to give the garden
plants,
for no terrestrial creature can long withstand the force of water.
So I unscrewed the spigot, marched around the other side of the house to grab
the hose,
and walked back to the spot where I spotted the Spider.
But in my absence the Spider, too, had taken Its leave
and I wondered if Nature was not made for men
to marvel at, or if in those moments
Nature does but laugh at us.

Summer Steered

Let me sugar shake the wind
you hold one end of this sheet
I'll latch quick to the ends of the other
White to the sky
to billow, fly
We'll laugh as we face one another

Let you run the minty grass
You hold the wand
I'll get the bubbles
Dip to the soap
'till up, up they float
away with the skin of our troubles

Let me bloom the orange tree
you hold the basket
I'll cut the leaves
Flowers to pop
one by one 'till they drop
to the scent, every memory summer retrieves

Let you fall the sun
You close your eyes in the sheets
I'll tuck the blossoms behind both your ears
Bubbles will fly
The summer goes by
and happiness leads us wherever it steers.

Watch the World Turn

The world turns,
Changing every second,
With every whisper of the wind
Every movement of the sea,
Every song of the birds,
All the earth is in motion

Look at your surroundings
And see the change incarnate

Watch as spring first begins –
The flowers in their bloom
The trees all green and glorious
The sky a crystal clear,
All the world seems light and weightless
We see nature and smile at its beauty

Watch as spring bursts into summer –
The sun shining brighter,
The air feeling warmer,
The heat healing the earth,
All the world is free and cheerful
We feel fresh, vivacious and content

Watch as summer rolls into autumn –
The leaves turning all shades of orange
Nature taking on a deeper hue,
The cool starting to finally sink in,
All the world begins, school, work, and play
We adjust to a new routine

Watch as autumn fades into winter –
The air getting crisper,
The days becoming shorter,
Glittering snow falling softly to the earth,
All the world is comfortable and cozy
We settle down to warm by the fire

Look at your surroundings,
And see the change incarnate
With every breath you take,
Watch the world turn.

Stars Like a Vision

Stars like a vision, Stars on the vine
plucked from the power of One who's divine
Clusters in motion, the fruit of the wind
Light sends it's message though their already dim
Caught in my vision, warm summer night
Silvery star dust a blanketed bright
Lit like the heavens behind my closed eyes
are the dreams of the motion in warm summer skies...

Subject to Change

Have all the summer flowers so perished under the weight of autumn’s cool breath?
Has the warm summer sun taken refuge behind the clouds from the northern sky?
Has the image of peace as rabbits forage for food been disturbed by an early frost?
Have the evenings of our contentment been changed to those of preparation?

Changes occur each day, each week, each month, and each year, noting a progression
As they so occur, life alters yet maintains a natural balance that can be thrown off
But, left to thought, reason and keen observation, this balance can be maintained
Allowing us the joy of being part of the world, therefore being subjects of change

IN A SUMMER WOOD

I sat upon a grassy bank
Spring had passed
Beautiful , it was too
Now, I live in a Summer wood

An intense blue sky
High above
I felt like flying
Such green
Such love
In a Summer wood

Flowers bloomed
Colours, so intense
They filled your heart
With light and love
In every sense

Summers day
The sky filled with birds
I ran
In a summer wood
My life
Filled with play

I only knew
When summer passed
When the kiss of an autumn leaf
Upon my cheek
It would never last
I knew this to be true

Drinking Summer

A soda spark to carbonate the lips
with lime sorbet in sweating silver bowls
Upon the breeze the warmth of humid mint

And suddenly the story has been told
The summer dragging feet way past the tide
with scorch of skin and wavy air in roads

Mirages for the asphalt to confide
which never knew the proper way to sleep
the summer sun to molten metal drive

And so the pool awaits the cooling leap
And so the water pressure pillows ears
too blue to swallow down in eyes to keep

afloat with all the gossip that it hears
The languid stretch of laying in the sun
allowing winter thoughts to fall arrears

And suddenly the moment has begun
with soda sparks and frozen lemonade
to grin and sip the summer hard and long~

The Girl In The Car

It is the girl in the car, on warm leatherette,
Who, in the Summer slipstream, teased the wheel
And gunned her engine heart;
She graced the passing furnace air, and angel sweat
Tracked slowly down her singing spine, for her to feel
Ignition spark and start.

And in her moistened loins the truth it rang
A clear and sensual focus, some chaste alarm
Forewarning her affirming stance;
She knew the throttle deviance, and words that hang
In glibness in a one track mind, such charm
Insinuate it's way into her pants.

She scanned the roads ahead, acknowledged fork,
Twin signs with arrows, nervous, highly strung,
And take a wilder stab at chance;
Procure the empty fast lane or get out and walk,
Race to cold and shallow sex and silver tongue,
Or ramble down the highways of romance.

The tumbling of the dice, herself to know,
When, the vulture Summer flying through,
Chilled in the Mustang embrace;
And remaining in the car, yet took it slow,
And holding on, and to herself be true,
And smiled within the smile upon her face.

Full Moon Beach

The pale lace of ocean foam
Breathes on moonlight shore,
Pearl clouds like soft dice are cast
On night sky’s black floor.

Wind rustles and bends the palms
To sea’s lullabies—
Night birds cry out like children
As summer now dies.

Yet, here summer never parts—
Always lingers green—
The smell of ripe mangoes stay—
Sunsets are gold sheen.

We linger still in unreal
Worlds and hesitate—
Seasons call us back somehow
To fulfill our fate.

Ocean moon is full this night—
We heed the call of waves—
Water brings us back to life—
The earth shall mark our graves.

On a Summer Morning Humid

Sticky wisps
spider's web
Milky hands
blood of weeds
Chyrsalide empty
butterfly breathes
on a summer morning humid
Scent absorbing
plum tree sweetened
Crickets tuning
notes of the season
Bare feet green
for a very good reason
I need to feel the earth
Leaves uplit
in a sweet sun bath
Echinacea flowers
bend the garden path
Yellow finch bellies
puffed up and fat
burst the sky with color
Orange explosion
trumpet vine
Adrenaline pumping
feeling fine
Smile elaborate
this day is mine
on a summer morning humid...

Woodwind

Sun glared down as Breeze ruffled her hair
Teasingly lifting her skirts
Stroking her lovingly
With deft invisible hands
Her arms swayed in unison with waves
Of constant caresses
Sending the scent of her wafting ghostly
Through summer shades
She felt her lifeblood rise within her
Holding tightly to Mother Earth
Up through the rooted whole of her
Filling tingling fingers with joy
Sighs in Summer sunshine
Oxygen from Georgia Pine

Face Of Summer

Nursery rhymes with silly lines make children laugh in summer time
bubbles blown from little sticks seem to pop so lickety-split
Lady Bugs in flower beds talk in shades of black and red
a froggy turns to baritone from a Lilly pad where he's at home
clouds adrift like cotton candy cross the sky with blue a-plenty
while oh so well that Summer sun takes a bow when he is done
then sells his song to an Autumn moon turning to a season new

Reality

Reality

Cut to the chase, tell it like it is,don`t hold back.
AckkkAckkkAckkk, someone is coming and I give yew the sack.
Life is not worthless just meant to be
not iff ewe knoe ; not iff ewe knoe ; but to be:
Someone to love, someone to listen, and someone to hold!
When someone is sent from above.
A Heart is a fragile thing
beating by grace and by faith.
Everyone promises everyone fakes,
no one`s immune from the snakes.
I have found summer but not in a smile?
Yes for I have found summer
pleease babay
Chat me awhile.
AS I pretend that we`re married.

Little Trickle

The little trickle, that ran through our street,
Was a place we much liked to place our feet,
In summer months, filled with such hot days,
We paddled through its many water ways.

Tiny silver fish would dart around feet,
Little hands would grab every frog we’d meet
The silted bed was the colour of sand
Right up to our ankles in it we’d land

Green nettles arising on every side,
Gave us such a wonderful place to hide,
Hidden from view in a private world,
An adventure for every day unfurled.

Laughter and water were the sounds we heard
These and the sounds of just every bird
Those summers down in our green sweet haven
All day we’d play until night time raven

Adventures and rescues were affected
The ridged adult world was fully rejected,
With swords and spears we did fight the evil,
And with flags and armour so medieval.

Crossing the moat to the stone castle wall
One of us was always destined to fall
Laughter and giggles would surely erupt
At the soggy end to our adventure abrupt.

In summer months, filled with such hot days,
Childish games, and fun in so many ways,
I will remember those days, wet and green
Hidden from sight, where no adults were seen.

The poem of Hoping.

The summer has arrived suddenly.

The St.Petersburg White nights

still hug our city gently.

A lilac fog

Fills the atmosphere around,

In spite of the fact that the lilac has already faded,

And sweet aroma of a jasmine

Turns our heads, excites and intoxicates us.

There is Heat, and the thunderstorms with rain here,

Flowers and the charming bumblebees live on my loggia.

But why don't the melancholy and alarms leave me?

I think of the next autumn and winter.

Maybe, they have already started to approach to us.

No! This is wrong!

I shall forget them for a while.

I shall take inspiration from a lilac fog,

I shall be drunk with aroma of jasmine,

I shall have fun, listening to the rain,

I shall write new poems for my friends .

And, maybe, the summer will delay in my soul for a long time.

summer dreams

a year each time, we must wait
for warm climate the world creates,
the singing birds and the apple trees
so, full of wonders and covered in leaves
how can one world make such beautiful things?
At summer time the world just sings,
holiday sun and fun, fun times
it's coming soon if you see the signs,
hanging with friends and dips in the pool
a little bit of freshness to keep you cool,
little beach hut and sand and sea
a little world that is perfect for me,
sun tan lotion for the browning skin
how can this beautiful world be full of sin?
Gentle waves lapping at my toes,
like a little secrets no one knows
buzzing bees and butterflies
flapping there wings so they can fly,
waking up in summer is a beautiful dream
with no more cold that can be mean,
and the massive sun that now just shines
we are in the worlds most beautiful design.
