Thank's Soupland

Sunday morning coffee
attracted to this screen
soupland is my toffee
my java needs no cream

Where we all chew on our pencil's
our pen's no longer quill's
we hack this keyboard wonder
exciting mental thrill's

We read eachothers thought's
emotions never drought
constant rain,a train of verse
I find myself immersed

Sharing our complaints and want's
but never do we point or taunt
we may occasion disagree
but that's what makes you,you,

Freedom of expression
with a touch of cool discretion
allows this site for us to write
feeling neither wrong nor right

I enjoy my time spent sharing
even if it might be much
but if I might be daring
on subject's lightly touched

So to all my friends at soupland
I say thank you,extended hand
a place where we grow together
and weather this world's whatever's......

Pledge of love and loyalty

This pledge that l,Ntando, make today serves
as my guideline that I shall follow
happily, ungrudgingly and tirelessly
for the sake of our love life.
Indeed l am well aware of the fact that
the beauty of this pledge does not only lie
in word alone but in action as well.

For that reason in every season
I shall show steadfast commitment
to the implementation of this pledge
with a great deal of astuteness.
I therefore commit myself to be your
devoted and delivering husband for
all the years l shall live with you
on this earth.

I shall treat you with the love and care
you deserve as my wife.
Indeed l shall treat you with
the distinction and dignity
that is befitting of the queen of my heart.
That body, that bone, that breath
shall be my mine to treasure,
for sure;
a dearness to promote and protect
for dear life…and love!
I shall stand by and with you in all the
situations of our life.
If the situation demands that we sail,
sail we shall together.
If the situation demands that we
climb we shall together.

I know very well what l am getting into:
I am getting into a marriage that is
overflowing with blessings.
This marriage- with our mutual
will stand the test of time.
I know very well what I am getting into:
I am getting into a relationship that
brims over with a transforming power
of love.

This marriage-with our
mutual commitment –
will transform naivety into maturity
troubles into challenges
pretence into practice
pride into progress
bachelorship into companionship.
I pledge to be your steward and partner
for all times.

I shall value the consultations
and decisions that we make as
husband and wife.
As head of the family I shall do nothing

to derail our love train for anything else
least of all for personal and selfish reasons.
Now and forever

I am your lawful and loving husband…
This pledge that l, Nothando, make today serves
as my guideline that I shall follow
happily, ungrudgingly and tirelessly
for the sake of our love life.
Indeed I am well aware of the fact that
the beauty of this pledge does not only
lie in pronouncements but in practice
as well.

For this reason every season
I shall demonstrate untiring love
and loyalty to you;
a love and a loyalty that is a living
embodiment of our marriage vows.
I therefore commit myself to be your
honouring, supportive and loving wife
for all the years l shall live with you.
I shall treat you with the love and care
that you deserve as my husband.
Indeed I shall treat you with
the dignity and nobility that is befitting
of the king of my heart.
On my mind it is always fresh
that I am the flesh of your flesh.
Green or grown

I am the bone of your bone.
I know very well what I am getting into:
I am getting into a relationship that
elevates me into a kingdom of wifehood.
I shall endevour to put my family first
with all the rights, obligations
and privileges that come with wifehood.
I shall endevour to wipe off and ward off
loneliness and lostness from our relationship,
seeking nothing but your companionship;
banking on your stewardship,
sinking together any hardship.
Since you are mine
I shall not do anything else to undermine
our relationship for personal
or egotistical
Now and forever
I am your lawful and loving wife…

I Am Not Afraid

On the day the Lord calls me home I will not be
afraid as I know He loves us one and all and to this
earth we are only on loan
We have spent all our lives here with family and
friends and so we leave this earth to go home to be
with our Lord and our family and friends who have
gone home to Heaven before us
And so our lives go full circle as the Lord sent us
down from Heaven to accomplish the things He wants
us to do here on earth and as we complete this we will
be called back home to heaven to live forevermore
I am not afraid as I patiently wait for my call to
enter the Kingdom Of Heaven where I will wait for my
family and friends to come home and be with our Lord

Andrea Dietrich

Her words flow like glorious music
In perfect time.
Her sonnets gift us with special words
In lovely rhyme.
A lady with the kind of style that
Epitomizes the beauty and grace
With the countenance of
A glowing poet’s face.
Brilliant words filled with imagery and emotion
Her poetry cannot help but inspire
Other growing poets with
A yearning desire.
Andrea is always right there
As she sets the best example of poetry
With outstanding grammar,
She teaches endlessly.
Andrea is my finest friend and confidant.
We who are blessed to read her poetry
Are enlightened by her symbiotic words
In perfect harmony.

Beauty in my Palm

You are the wild flower in my palm
With no stem to keep you anchored to this covetous earth
You are the fragile thing I dare not cup,
As your petals whittle away under the wind
And flit unfettered in the air;
Exaggerated fear leaves my fingers numb
Hungry need leaves my fingers twitching
And my hand is paralyzed by turmoil
As every breath of wind takes another petal from me
And brings to my lungs, my chest and my heart
An overwhelming scent of need-

You are the wild beauty in my palm
And I dare not hold you to my chest
For I fear to crush you
To know first hand
That caged beauty, is beauty no more.

Woodland Path

Fae circles of mushrooms
Lanky yellow toadstools
Firm jelly tot larvae
Feed from rich stagnant pools.
Fungal disks cling with wanton
To the grey trunks of trees
Cricket strums join to bird song
Sending messages of peace.

Lambent beams break through foliage
Gradient tones tint the scene
Yellow, purple, and whites
showcased by backgrounds of green.
Fractured rock nests bright flora
Compost mats engage moss
A place of breach and survival.
Nature's gain, (one might say)
is the product of loss.

My White Lace Tablecloth

I washed my white lace tablecloth and hung it out to dry
The bleach did the best it could-it was worth the try
'Though no one else can see, the stain still remains
As old as time itself
Stubborn as mildew rot

One false step, one careless word forever etched in time
Travels the universe, endlessly
In search of a place to rest
What would I not give to reverse that step
To retrieve that hateful word

Tread lightly in your daily walk, o'er hills and valleys in between
Plot well your steps and weigh your words
So you'll have nothing to regret, like the
Unkind words carved deeply upon your heart
I wash my white lace tablecloth again, again and again!

The Man in the Wilderness

Feeling like a lodger
In my own home
Thankful for my music
And my new found roam

Families and communities
They are just so hard to find
But in April 2009
I found the most precious kind

I found the name amusing
So the button i clicked on to see
The layout was very inviting
Like an open door should be

For in a matter of minutes
On first uploading a poem
This Highlander was content
He had found a welcome home

So many lovely writers
Poets who share their bless
No longer this Scotsman is
The Man in the Wilderness

Word Sage

When all of youth flees and even the whitest eye reddens, rheums, words, fair words, dispel the gloom. When hands are mapped with age and knurled, still, they transform the page, the eye, the cage, for where words flow, the mind goes, to the pristine smiles and the smooth curves which once were yours, your cheek, your neck, your hip. Deny me anything but the word for it’s magic will soon be all that remains of fleeting youth.

The Lady by the Ocean

The sands on the beach
Are like the colour of her hair
As i sit by the ocean
All i can do is stare

The blue of the ocean water
Can never match her eyes
Despite our natures wishes
All she can do is try

The blue skies above her
Carpet her ceiling surround
Her posture of delight
In plentiful abound

Her body is slight and tanned
A joyous site to see
This blond beach lady in the sun
Gracing the land of the free

Our single soul

As the trials of life come and go
Accept there blessings into your soul

Let them become without a doubt
A model of what you're all about

Don't let them get you all depressed
All things in life need be addressed

Let your spirit be like the wind
Your unseen dearest friend

As I see the lines in my face
Each a reminder of certain place

Do I wish they would go away?
Or that my hair wasn't turning grey

I have no desire to regain youth
For I have learned to speak my truth

When I was young I was so lost
I let my soul pay the cost

Running hard against the grain
Using drugs to kill the pain

Now I feel each and every day
Use the Lord to take the pain away

Do what I can accepting what I get
Treasure blessings that come of it

Thank the Lord through the poems I pray
Use what I need give the rest away

I seem to be driven by a single goal
Can you feel my heart and soul?

I slice them open in hopes they will bleed
Something that someone might need

The single fear I know so well
The fear that my words will fail

So once again I face my fear
As I write I shed my tears

Because these words are spoken true
My heart belongs to all of you

And through it's love I hope to show
We all share a single soul

A soul that is bound by love
Given us by the Lord above

When East Met West

When East Met West
She found a love at
 its best,
Such a love so difficult
to even express.
You had me from hello
with your tender Caress,
I knew from that moment,
 I wanted the Rest.
A Forbidden Love that was new,
So Strong,
How could one say that this
love was wrong ?
The Very first kiss was so brief,
So tender
I close my eyes and try to
A skin so soft to the touch
Oh how I love you so very
A smile from you , set my soul
on fire,
the touch from your hands fills
my body with a burning desire.
A moment with you, I want
I Long for the day that we shall
always be together.
Such a sweet love so pure, so true
I love each and everything that you
The look in your eyes tell me how much
you care,
In my heart I pray you'll always be there.
I thank the dear Lord for sending me you,
For bringing me love so pure, so true.
A longing feeling when we must part,
That leaves an empty feeling
deep within my heart.
A hope that one day
you might see
Just how much you truly
mean to me.
Now I have sweet dreams
of our next kiss,
That is something I surely
do not want to miss.
Your Now My love, One of my
Best Friends,
Baby I don't ever want our
love to come to an end.....

But For You

But For You

You tagged me
And said such nice things
I’m at a loss for words
Perhaps I need to call for help
Won’t you help me choose
Joseph S., Carol B., Tami M., Stella S.,
Mike J., Vince S., Stacy R., Lainie G.
Maggie O., Lynn M .and Michaela P.
Who, oh who should it be?

I know! I know the perfect selection
Won’t you all join with me,
I introduce to you my Friends
Our very own ' Poetrysoup Origination.'
For without them we might never have met.
So while they take the stage
Let’s all give them a hand, and say
“Our thanks to you and God Bless.”

Heaven's Grocery Store

Marching down life’s highway, my feet became very sore
I then came upon a sign that read “Heaven’s Grocery Store”
When I got closer the doors swung open wide
Next thing I knew I was standing there inside
I saw a flock of angels positioned everywhere
They handed me a basket and said, “Child shop with care.”
Everything a human required was in that grocery store
With many commodities to carry, you could always come back for more
First I acquired some Patience; Love was in that same row
Further down was Understanding, you require that everywhere you go
I grabbed a box of Wisdom and Faith, a bag or two
And obtained Charity of course but more than just a few
And then reached for Courage to help me run this wicked race
My basket was almost full but remembered some loving Grace
I then chose Salvation for it was advertised as free
I tried to collect enough of that for both you and me
Then I started to the counter to pay my grocery bill
For I thought I had everything to do the Master’s will
As I went up the aisle, I saw Prayer and proceeded put that in
For I knew when I stepped outside I was bound to encounter sin
Peace and Joy were plentiful, the last thing on that shelf
Song and Praise were hanging near so I just helped myself
Then I asked an angel, “Now how much do I owe?”
She smiled and said, “Just take them wherever you may go.”
Again I asked, “No really, how much do I owe?”
“My child,” she said, “God paid your bill a long time ago.”

So You Want To Know Me?

So sensationally super; Sagittarius son of John Spence
Pleasantly personable, and matriarch Maud Spence’s son
Enabling, exquisite, eloquent, evolving and enterprising
Naturally nice, no nonsense, and a nutritionist nobleman
Carrot consumer, constant comrade and cold-war veteran
Equitably enlightened, and just an elegant eggnog taster

Jumping Jupiter, a jubilant sundae lover, and just a jewel
Oppresso de liber, optimistically captivating; oratorical
Saintly passionate, succulent salmon sampler; sweetheart!
Exquisitely enchanting, enchantingly amatorious; éclat!
Playful, painstakingly passionate, pajama wearer, patient
Handsomely helpful handyman, harmonizer of happiness

Sweet as syrup, shining armor off the shelf; savoir-faire!
Red-blooded poetry connoisseur and radioactively lovable!

Community, what does it mean
And how does it come into being
Well what does the dictionary have to say
“A group of people living together in one place”

I guess that means were all in community
Though if I were to speak in honesty
It feels like we try to live separately
Living by the culture of our country

Which tells us, do it yourself
If your strong, you don’t ask for help
Life is about personal advancement
About money and accomplishments
Hold onto your hardships and pain
Keep striving for personal gain
So many lies deeply engrained
How will we create change?

Well I start with myself
I ask for help
I start with me
I be the change I want to see

I become an infectious contagion
In all of my relations
That could spread across a population
Even across the nations
I model my life after the master of love
Who dwells in the heavens above
He has brought millions even billions together
Over decades, centuries, even millenniums
So what else could be better
Than to faithfully follow him

He who said, I was anointed
to proclaim good news to the poor
to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free”

and I say yeah that’s who I want to be
But unless I engage in community
Unless I get to know my fellow human beings
How can I help to set them free

So its time for me to put aside
Popular culture, foolish pride
Social codes, selfish ambitions
Old roads, and useless traditions

And blaze a brand new trail
With my life, write a new tale
Introduce a new theme
Add in a few more characters
And then dare to dream
About how my story could impact theirs
And their’s impact mine

Because maybe just, maybe
It might be better, might just be
Not to say, I did it on my own
All this, look I did it alone
No maybe it would be better
If we did it together

So that no matter what my lot
I can always know that I’ve got
Friends, right until the very end
Help, ready to be sent
Hands willing to be lent
So what need would I have for advancement
For money and accomplishment

I can find all that I need
Everything I seek from this life,
In relationship with fellow human beings
Community, Maybe this is what it means

VELA (CANDLE)First Spanish version, scroll down for English)

Por toda la eternidad,

Todo el mundo sigue girando, haciendo el d¡a y la noche,

Yo ser‚ para ti.
Como una fresca quebrada de la monta¤a que se desborda por ti

I will be for you.
All my life that is left, I will live for you,
and when time has run out,
I will die for you.
I will speak your name
in each candle that I light, I will breath your name.
I will whisper you,
every prayer I ever say will be part of you.

For eternity,
and forever it has been, and will always be,
and when I leave this world,
it will go with me.
In a candle light
all the world keeps on turning, making day and night,
and from dark to light,
you'll be part of every prayer that ever comes from me.

I will be for you.
Like a cool mountain spring that overflows for you
like a warm summer breeze
through the trees for you.
In a candle glow,
everything I've ever been or will ever be
for eternity,
you'll be part of everything I ever do.
I will be for you.

Well, now that I am registered officially,
into the ranks of those who search and dig,
for gold, and paper that's done and serialized,
or plastic that buys the pleasures on high,
I might as well sit down and think hard,
about all that I will buy with gold and paper,
serialized and plastic that shines,

First a bouquet for mama to say 'thank you'.
and wish her sunshine and rainbows too,
and not sun to scorch her chocolate skin,
but rainbows to herald goodwill and peace.

Then I might try to buy a voice, as loud as,
can be to join all the others that sound,
and call for what a child needs to grow and sing,
the time to play, learn and be loved, more time.

Most of all, I'll ask not to buy this one, it is priceless,
true friends to love now, forever and always, eternally
not perfect because I am far from the best,
but whose love, like mine, does not need justification.

So you see, what I want needs just a penny to buy,
and what I need wants no money to purchase,
so why the hassle to wear a veil and deceit,
to go down the vents, with spade and pans.

And now I will pay the price it will take
to be unregistered officially from the ranks,
of those who dig and search, for gold and paper,
maybe plastic that shines and buys,
and if you want and care, here I offer,
my friendship with no charge, no price tag.

Paradise My Sweetest Love

My sweetest love hearest thou my advice
Let's leave for the garden of sweet paradise
We will live under a rainbow with cherries
Eat sweet mangoes and bright berries;
Build a cottage in its midst with a skylight
Bake gingerbread as the sunsets at twilight
Shower in the misting rain on our lawn
Sing sweet songs with the birds at dawn;
Make fireflies’ lanterns soothing our mood
The ravens will bring us nourishing food
The sparrows will build our resting nest
Oh my love—my darling, my earnest:
Together we will wish upon a shining star,
And from each other we shall never be far!

Inspired by, and a response to, Nette Onclaud’s: “Welcoming a new Tune”

What is it about a falling star?

Stardust tears mimicking an inevitable end
Yet, we reach higher

A palladium telescope, no longer needed.

Artificial eyes that we no longer desire.

A wanton cerebellum pulling heart’s trigger

Towards constellation's grip

Another Chopin sharp
Echoing unto sunbursts

F a l l i n g Again, fallen
Flat Another accented clef breaking barriers. The song of the wisp bellows. Will the time arrive where one can rise into chorded incipience? Embarking towards our heaven without any gates… Minutes will be measured by breaths held in sincerity. An infinite stanza lunging my essence towards serenity’s bliss Ah, there is indeed something about the cuddle of this mist… ©Drake J. Eszes

God Has Made Everything Beautiful In His Time

“There is a time for each season…
To everything made…
There is a divine reason.

A time for purpose under
 the heavens above…
A time for meaning from a God of love.

A time to be born. A time to die…
A time to farm the ground
 under the beautiful sky.

A time to kill. A time to heal...
A time to tear down and
to build up with a passion and zeal
A time for weeping. A time for laughing…
A time to mourn. A time for dancing.

A time to keep...
A time to throw away.
A time to tear. A time to make amends today.

A time to get. A time for losing…
A time to keep. And to give
 away at our choosing.

A time for silence. A time to speak…
A time for each hour
 and day of the week.

A time for love. A time for hate…
A time for war. A time for peace at your gate.

How will you spend the time
 God has given to you?
What is your choice? What will you do???

May this be a time living in
God’s purpose and design.
He created you and made
everything beautiful in his time!

Oh in the mirror world, she dances on a stag all her own,
A reflected ballerina, stepping ever lightly in the shaded
Silhouettes of yesterday, twin figures of elegance, neither
Realizing that they are one in the same, identity thieves.
Beguiling the shimmering images standing in illusions rippling
Glass, touch each other, yet they are the untouchables double.
Blissfully the maiden trips the light fantastic, as inspirations long
Lost muse, hidden beneath self-doubt and pains anguish, the opposite
Refuses to except that these two reflections of inspiration are one in the same.
Dearest Lady of wisdom's clarity let the clear waters of clarification flow, as
A soft streams miracle in faith’s river conjoins at the mighty delta’s edge.
In the framed rippling pools of frozen pains separation, it is the liquid
Of realism that combines thee, defines thee and unites thee as one whole
Being let these two timeless dancers of inspiration merge as one whole.
Beauty does wait in inspirations chamber to be set free, embrace her
And allow your wings of the imagination to soar again amongst the heights.
Beyond celled barriers of your past mistakes, for they do not define the artist,
The future of this mistress of poetic artistry, must waltz in sync with her spiritual
Kindred, whom dwells beyond the looking glass, in the realm of wonderland.
Oh sweet Alice just place your fingertips upon the thy side, reach through the
Tides of separation let the waves of truth wash over thee, and with tenderness
She’ll grasp at thy inner soul, softly uniting these torn images of the lost, as one
Dancer waltzing, in unisons divine musical tune, in harmonious rheum.
The breeze of life is a timeless unique spiritual adventure, each paths step must
Be experienced alone by the traveler, through the harshness of the winds of
Destiny we must walk alone, yet behind us are others waiting to help thee along,
But few realize this practice of faith’s devotion, for within each single step taken,
Another walks and his is the miracle of our salvation, and preservation.
Let the rock of truth shatter the glass of resistance, for dearest child of inspiration,
You are not alone to pick of the pieces of these shards remains, for we feel the
Sting of your crystal tear drops , and are willing to help wipe them asunder, with
Loving wings of friendship, always.

Second Chance

As the never world awaits me,
The lord darkness, his cloak now draped.
Haunting images that appear in dreams,
Invade the subconscious, till again I wake

Complative thoughts well before the dawn,
I walk the morning shore,
How many have stood on these same sands,
Reflecting the echoes of those no more.

And still the waves they pound the shore,
Relentless in their quest,
As they crash on the rocks with deafly roar,
White tipped and foaming zest.

Dawn breaks with gilded cotton clouds,
Waiting like courtiers to their king.
Gathering round the sovereign sun,
Bestowing his warmth on everything.

Would that life compare to the shore,
All worries get washed away.
Cares thrown to the four winds,
As on my knees I pray

Surprising Kindness

I came upon an old man,
A homeless, wretched soul.
He looked so sad and helpless,
In his hands, he held a bowl.
He was propped against the building,
So, his weakness would not show.
He saw the world through glasses,
With hair as white as snow.

I heard my father whisper,
As my eyes filled with tears,
“One need much more than money,
One needs his loved ones near.”
My father loved his family,
Does this old one feel the same?
With my father’s soul beside me
I asked the old one’s name.

His name, he said with feeling,
Was lost with all he owned.
A thief assumed his identity,
Then, all he had was blown.
His wife died in December,
The vulture, then closed in,
Pounced while he was grieving,
Then, his life changed again.

I gathered the frail body to me,
Spoke kindly, acknowledged his need,
A home and a heart full of loving,
My family would plant the seeds.
Love is the first to be planted,
Followed by trust in their care.
My father’s spirit surrounds us,
His example taught us to share.

The old one lost all his pallor,
With love and trust he gained
More than he ever hoped for,
Another family, who gave him a name.
Grandpa, we decided to dub him
As we fought for all he had lost.
As he won the last legal battle,
His life was the price that it cost.

The old one wanted cremation.
My mother did not and she prayed.
Next thing we knew came a lawyer,
And the Last Will and Testament played.
My mother, for once, became speechless,
And I drew in no better air.
Grandpa was there in the picture,
Leaving us undisputed heirs.

Could You Use Some Help Today

There's so many times I call on you for the needs of the day, Day or night you are always there when I kneel down to pray. So I thought with all the things you do I'd just call on you to say, Is there anything I can do for you to help you out today. If someone's having troubles I'd be willing to volunteer. If they need someone to listen I'd gladly lend my ear. If they're lonely, sick, or dying I'd be the friend they need that day. With all the work that's facing you,Lord Could you use some help today. I wonder if there are any times you feel you need to get away. I wonder if some prayers to you you would like to just delay. I know you are not the kind of God who will ever be dismayed, But I offer to you, that I'm willing to do whatever will help today.

A caring One

A caring one is more
Than sweet fragrance,
Even when sweet fragrance ends,
The caring one remains...

At the end of summer as the days light grows shorter,
I’ll pack up the last pains of trouble, and live every tranquil
Moment of splendors warmth that I can!
In the burnet rays of sunshine, I’ll walk serenities beach soaking
Up the sunsets, and drinking them within deeply, the color palate
Array as it splashing against the distant horizon!
Listen dearest friend can you hear the waves lapping, playfully
Snapping at the boulders of the lake, as the rippling white tides,
Seamlessly rush against the sandy shores!
In the city parks the grills sizzle with the smells of masque,
As children’s laughter fills the echoing woods with the sounds
Of childhood frolic, and the smoke of gray deliciousness calls
To their inner scenes of hunger!
Sometimes I’ll go and just watch them, and remember those simpler
Days when I was young myself, what a time of true wonderment that
Was so many years ago, I can almost hear my mother’s voice calling me,
Saying it’s time for dinner, back then in those far faded shadows not
So long ago, but it is the end of summer now!
The Canadian geese are flying south for the winter,
Stopping by for a refuel not far from the many ponds, and lakes
Nearby, how I wish I could join in those led lines so close to heaven,
To behold the magic they’ve seen on their many adventures of flight!
Many leaves begin the slow change of colors, soon autumn will be
Darning a new gown of splendors magnificence, my camera lens
Will shutter and click, to capture the wondrous changes
That Mother Nature exposes to the eyes of humanity!
In my photo album of seasons, I’ll look backwards and
Remember these special times of natural glory,
The quiet walks of solitude through the wilderness,
Those moments of special tranquility in the stilled hush
Just before sunrise!
Listening carefully, I can almost hear the songs of the morning
Sparrows awakening the birth of a new days dawning,
As it rustles in the forest pines, at the end of summer,
These are the vivid visions I will maintain always!
The chill in the winds tells me it will soon be here,
And the wintery white powder hangs heavy within
The autumn air!
Oh why does summer have to end so quickly?
My heart wishes it would last forever and a day,
But at least I have my pictures of beauty to remind me,
Of those light hearted days gone by, until the next
Year’s warmth caress my face once more.
I’ll sit here in my easy chair of remembrances, turning my
Pages of freeze frames photographs, and tenderly
Drift backwards into thoughts of warmth and laughter,
Enjoying these memories of the end of summer’s reflections!
