True Friendship

 ~True Friendship~
 (Couplets)

True friends are really a treasure so rare
There are not many like that who really cares.

If you happen to have one exactly like that
Be happy you got lucky,so toss high your hat.

Real friends wish to share everything with you, laughter and tears
And like finest wine they just get better all throughout the years.

They will be loyal, honest and true no matter what you may go through
A true friend will not hurt you on purpose and she always care for you.

There are not many good friends around like this they're hard to find
Better just have one true than maybe dozens that are untrue and fake in kind.

So if you already have a true friend consider yourself very lucky everyday
And treat well that friend with all the love and respect that(she or he)deserves all way.

Beautiful Masterpiece (Tribute to Elaine George's "Violin")

As I read the words my heart started to sing
For you had gave emotion to a non living thing

I can't ever remember feeling quite that way
I could hear the music that she used to play

I could feel her heart through the tears I cried
As I read the part where her Maestro had died

I imagined her there in her Rosewood Bed
Reading the most beautiful poem I’ve read

Velvet to her back with her bow at her side
Remembering the joy before Maestro died

She loved how his bow manipulated her strings
Together they were the most beautiful of things

What’s the only poem to ever hang in my den?
Elaine’s beautiful masterpiece titled, "Violin"

Inspired by Tracy's wonderful idea for
a contest and Elaine's beautiful Poem.

The Kingdom of Ghali

The Kingdom of Ghali

Welcome to our peaceful home
Where cotton candy clouds and free thinkers roam
Meet jester Jack who keeps a smile on all
Reinforced by Sir Drake with his radio wherewithal
And don’t miss maidens Becca and Charma
Who keep the Queen’s peace with their shining aura

Oh the Queen? Who is she? you ask

She will warm your heart but do not cross her
For I hear to one she decreed “I Hope You Suffer”
But here she rules fair over the azure seas
No, there is no other like Queen Eileen of Ghali

Her admiring scribe,
FJ Thomas

My apologies Highness; this should have never been removed when I left.
It is, after all, for you ;)

Time to Remember

couplet

In the pauper's field, the wild cornflowers bloomed,
nature's timeless blessing on those entombed.

The Darkness at Noon

The Darkness at Noon

Taps - echo hollowly
over the grey stones,

acrid odor of gunpowder
stings all memory,

flag, creased, folded,
presented.

A last salute.
A darkness at noon.

What A Friend Should Be (A tribute to John Barns)

My friend John Barnes is as special as can be.
When it comes to friends God sure blessed me.

There are some things we lose, while others we win.
Some games we play lead us into sin.

I’ve have been lucky enough without any doubt.
I have a friend who always helps me out.

He drove across the state to find me on the roam.
Said, “get into the car I’m taking you home.”

He never once asked for a thing or questioned me.
I reckon that’s how a good friend should be.

We worked together off and on, our entire life.
I’m on number eight, John’s with the same wife.

John and Lisa have most certainly had their fights.
In the end they always do what is right.

Work it out, stay together, never giving up.
Realizing they already have a full cup.

They have raised all their kids, which should include me.
I reckon that’s how a parent should be.

John’s not really my dad but he is my brother.
He’s a friend to the end like no other.

A perfect example of what a friend should be.
That’s what John Barnes has always been for me.

From the start of the game to the end of the show,
John’s been the friend who has never let go.

He has stood by my side through thick and thin.
I’m very proud to be a friend to him.

Through the love of my friend I was able to see.
This is exactly what a friend should be.

You guys know that twinkle that you see in a star.
When it comes to life that’s what good friends are.

John Barn's is my best friend. Him and I met in the Oilfields outside
of Bakersfield where he still resides. We worked together on many
different jobs together over the years operating heavy equipment. I
reckon I was about 20 years old when I first met John and Lisa, his
wife. I haven't had 8 wives but I have 3 had wives and 5 significant
others during the time we have all known each other. I'm very lucky,
as well as, very proud to have had them in my life. We may not be
blood but we are family. Several times in my life they have opened
their home and helped me. Never asking for a thing or questioning my
behavior. Of course, them I would never disrespect. Not even in my worst
days. In fact, I never was a disrespectful or rude person. I just had bad
habits. I wrote this in honor of them but it is how I feel about all of my
friends. You guys all shine in my eyes. God Bless, mj

P B and J

When I think of famous duos, these two come to mind
No, it's not two lovers , nothing of the kind

No famous stars strolling down a red carpet walk
Reporters following them, hoping for tomorrow's gossip talk

But they've been around to feed us a quick meal in a bind
Or to eat just for fun and they come in more than one kind

First those two fresh pieces of white wonder bread
Creamy peanut butter onto each one is carefully spread

Next choose the jelly - grape is usually mine
But there is also strawberry, apple and many others are fine

Put it all together with jelly dripping down your chin
A big glass of cold milk, let the feast begin!

Yes, I think this duo is one worth the mention
Although, it might not get all that very much attention

Goodbye Granddad

Gravity pulls my tears into pools.
Im sinking in sorrow -emotional fuels.

Just turn back the time, I just want a moment.
To say goodbye once, to cherish and own it.

I loved my granddad - a man more than great.
Paired with my Granny as the perfect mate.

A montage of memories that rush my soul.
My eyes fill with tears, I'm losing control.

Just keep it together, it's what he would want.
They all say the same, but I stand in front.

Happiness swells, yet sadness prevails.
Like Christ on the cross, with hands full of nails.

Life has a reason, and death isn't treason.
-It's moving on up.. A lifetime's a season.

I look to the sky and say my goodbye.
The time won't turn back, I gave it a try.

I close my eyes and imagine this-
Paradise in a place full of bliss.

World peace in a piece of the world.
Without loss and bombs never hurled.

Snow that falls that doesn't freeze.
Sun that shines that doesn't cease.

A land where "The forever" is real.
A scene where the sick always heal.

Life with infinite love, like gusts in the wind.
Two little doves, with eternities to spend.

God has a plan, fool-proof to the core.
Now Granddad's with him, a reward of much more.

-Yours Truly

A Tribute To My Sister

I had a little sister
Who grew up to be my friend
I thought we'd always be together
Until the very end
We shared so many memories
Of times we were young and carefree
Even though she is no longer here
She'll always be with me
Day after day year after year
I will always remember her with a whole lot of laughter
And few little tears

Dreams

Sweet dreams are found, in the purple sheen
Of a lady's skin, where egg and seed convene

On the darkest night, or upon a foggy shore
Moon, stars guide you, to where Angels soar

Earths sky's the canvas, for thoughts to explore
Without obligatory words, you can create the decor

Find sweet dreams, passion and lust will overwhelm
Choose your words carefully, as your taking the helm

As you Paint your thoughts, in words, time can't erase
Bodies and souls will entwine, a willing lovers embrace

Moon sinks into earth's horizon, as your picture's seen
The formula for sweet dreams, is at the geometric mean

Cactus Heart

You would assume I am thirsty in this dire heat,
Or that my needles would cause others to quickly retreat,
You would conclude that my flowers were only for show
Or that if someone didn’t water me I would never grow,
But what you don’t see in plain eye sight
Is that I am flourishing with waters of integrity and might,
Under these thorns you call choked up defenses
Breeds the strength to survive all forms and pretenses,
To you I require little maintenance… but I know better,
I know how to absorb all I need in good and bad weather,
For I was strategically placed in this atmosphere,
All I need dwells in my structure enabling me to stay clear
Of beasts that lurk when sandstorms arise,
When mirages start to mesmerize,
When signs and wonders appear in fallen skies,
And soldiers forget to break ancient soul ties,
I stand my post and flaunt my spikes,
A cactus heart survives all flights.

Happy Mother's Days

A mother's holiday should be everyday,
To show you the thanks I wish to repay.

A million word poem could never consist,
Of all that you do - a lifetime of lists.

So Ill keep it short - a miniature report.
To convey my gratitude for all your support.

Preparing this thank-you, builds tears in my eyes.
The bulletproof bond we share never dies.

Countless memories we've made as a pair,
Has given me more than I can compare

Your lessons of chivalry I've cherished so dear.
You've molded my heart to love with no fear.

Your lullaby songs that put me to sleep,
Created a herd of infinite sheep.

Happy Mother's Day Mom, I hope you enjoy.
Much love from your son, your grown baby boy.

- Yours Truly

A Tribute to Jack Russel

He was graced with long life as the work he required,
A present flame, aft he retired,
He deepened the souls that sat before him,
And made them express with written decorum.
He read their assignments with special attention
That challenged and called forth youth's finest rendition.
He opened the door to a life well read,
His students entangled in Baalat's web.

Gazing back through the specularium of time
One saw an intellect so immensely fine
That it slightly abashed those of higher grade,
His light joining their lights where others fade.
Moving on one lingered a bit in the past,
Still meeting challenges from his intellect, so vast.
That it scarce was contained
In the role for him framed.

His soul now borne upon the Stygian Lake
Leaves proper grammar trailing in its wake;
This gentle muse vanished in the night,
The curtains closed, doused the light.
No need for stately obelisk oe'r his bier
To greet mournful pilgrims once a year;
For though he'll be long gone,
The phallic symbol, he loved so, lives on.

Baby Shalom's Shattered Dreams

Daddy, mommy, why are you laying me down on the grave?
I was dreaming before that you’ll be putting me in my cozy crib.

Are you so remorseful and that's the reason you are crying?
I’m only five months old trying to understand your feeling.

You got married so young and you didn’t know what to do
You didn’t take care of me in your womb but, still I love you so.

I was dreaming and wishing you to nurture me with your love
Give all the things I need until I grow and make you proud.

I am so deeply wounded, but I forgive you with what you did
I’ll just be your little angle to guide you both and your next kid.

As we bid goodbye then , bring with you my shattered dreams
I do plead, to my brothers or sisters make them whole again.

Daddy, mommy, thank you so much for my very beautiful name
Don’t forget your Baby Shalom whose love will forever be the same.

When Fate Decides

When fate decides to bring you love
Clouds moved to show the stars above

You the crowning jewel of the stratosphere
Your breath of incense pervade the atmosphere

None to compare at such radiant comeliness
If I should fail you I crave your forgiveness

I’d be heartbroken if I should ever lose you
Because I feel I am wearing the luckiest shoe

I thank fate that of all I was the chosen one
To reciprocate the love of one second to none

Don't Give Up

Don't give up, fight till the end
I'll be by your side, always a friend
We will be side by side till morning appears
We'll stand there for when, the victory cheers

We are the army of freedom, death we don't know
We will fight all the day, our banner will flow
We left behind a wife and a strong hearted son
Until this war is over, and victory we won

We have won this battle, the war has come
We will stand hard and strong and never shall run
So come on my brothers sing the victors song
If you don't know the words then just follow along

We are the army of freedom, death we don't know
We will fight all the day, our banner will flow
We left behind a wife and a strong hearted son
Until this war is over, and victory we won

Now remember me brothers death came to show
Please tell my wife and my son they should know
I gave up my life, but the war now is won
My time here has ended, and God knows I'm done

Just know I'll stand next to you until the morning appears
I'll hold up your rifle, and settle your fears
I'm right here beside you just as a friend
I'll stand next beside you until its the end

Those Poets

Those Poets

Words from the heart , thoughts of their minds
Written words leaving feelings sublime

Tasting the colors , the essence of their souls .
Showing the way to new worlds to behold

Their words allowing us , to see, taste and feel .
Life all around us , now complete , now real

Those witty words of tongue and cheek.
Or darkened fantasies where lovers meet

Waiting on our bated breaths ,
our ears and hearts to hear the rest

Their stories leaving us mesmerized ,
as tales unfold before our eyes

The words caress the need for more,
Hearts and minds desire's will to explore

Their heart's desires, the rarest kind
Take us away on adventures , of the mind

Racks On Reindeer

Racks on reindeer scissor high.
Santa's raised into the sky.
Red clad jacket; red clung toque.
A cute old man you'd call a kook.
With wired frames of bottled glasses
and long bent scarf that waves in passes.
His snub-like nose a faded rose
to match his cheeks and famous pose.
White bulging beard of bouncy motion
yet pepper smeared as though with lotion.
and bold blue eyes that twinkle flakes
and rest below his two brow cakes.
A golden bag with golden ropes
in burlap stitched in seams and slopes.
Holding reins of soft black leather
in pearl white gloves for every weather.
And should you see him for his cause.
Remember...
Christmas comes with Santa Claus.

Sleep just for awhile

Hush sweet baby please don’t cry
I’ll sing you a love sweet lullaby

Never mind the boogie in your head
Come lay on top of your silken bed

Sweep out things you can’t understand
As I play this song on the Baby grand

You are quite special can’t you see
Many try to change like you to be

So never think any less of your self
Please come back being the naughty elf

Come let me sip water coconuts
From the word palm tree besots

            You have slept long enough
Grab your pillows shake and fluff

It’s just not the same without you
Please don’t send me to sleep too

Jada Mortensen

And so she was the girl from Bair.
With ocean eyes and golden hair.
Of heavy heart and light despise
Of cupid's dart and winter's cries.
There came a day when things did end.
Around the corner of the bend
There came a truck and in dispair
The loudest word was spoken there.
And so she left to who knows where.
Whilst many cried because they cared.
She roams around in circles too,
And whispering winds and skies of blue.
We raise our glass towards the sky
And smile a memory although she died.
No tears tonight, not ever one.
For there she rests inside the sun.
She is okay we know for sure.
In better days to now endure.
And so she was the girl from Bair
With clemency; a heart so fair.
And as we lay in bed and sigh,
I'd like to say to you Goodbye.

Rest In Peace Best Friend

Tribute to the Twenty-ninth Titans

If it were only me, I will be doing anyhow
Nobody would have been there to challenge me now

Now I look back into the face of the future,
What I see, golden grains, people of peasant pictures;

Red roses rooted in the soils of 29th August,
Some still sailing other down in the dazzling dust;

Blessed blueprint on earth pages by sincere sages,
Firm footprint by men with messages for all ages:

Ingrid Bergman, the mother of motion picture
Won worldwide awards, with firm face and features.

Michael Jackson, king of pop, sensational singer,
Dances and drums, thrilled the throng with Thriller*

Isabel Stanford, first African American, actress- leader
To win Emmy Award, Guess who is coming to dinner*

William Friedkin, award winning American producer,
The French connection*, the exorcist’s*… super screenwriter.

Richard Attenborough; British born, powerful TV producer,
Multiple Award winner for Gandhi *: a daring drama.

Rebecca De Mornay; an American film and TV actress,
Thrilled in the Testament* and her roles in Risky business*

Oh, Lauren Collins; an alluring actress, a colorful Canadian;
Thrilled in The Next generation*; she shares my day: a Nigerian.

John McCain, an ambitious American politician, a senior senator,
From Arizona, lived a lively life, formerly an active aviator.

Thom Gunn, a passionate and multiple award-winning poet,
For priceless poems collections…the man with night sweats*

Charles Kettering, American, an inspiring, intriguing inventor,
Invented automobile self starter and engine-powered generator.

Too many to mention: poets, actors, sportsmen and philosophers
Men and women: wise, wild and wonderful; lively, not loafers.

Adeite Adeleke, see the soaring stars who share thy dear date;
Learn from their fame, faults and frailty, focus on faith and fate.

How Many Times

How many times does God forgive,
Again and again, please just live,
How many times, can you fall down,
Over and over, you’ll be found,
How many times will I just pray,
For all your pain to go away,

For you were once my dearest friend,
In my heart your presence ends.

How many days go quickly bye,
How many birds sing when they cry,
How many cherubs fight for you,
How many angels dance the blues,

How many demons tried to take,
How many stripes for our mistakes,
How many times could I confess,
I never loved you any less
I never loved you any less.

How many times does God forgive,
Again and again, please just live,
How many times, can you fall down
Over and over, you’ll be found’
how many times will I just pray,
for all your pain to go away,

For you were once my dearest friend,
In my heart your presence ends.

WHEN ROY SANG

A song came on the jukebox and we listened with intent
He sang "Only The Lonely" with a voice that was heaven sent
I was only in eighth grade, a few years from being a man
There was "Blue Angel" and "I'm Hurtin' " and I became a die hard fan
We'd go downtown to the Coffee Cup to hang out and have some fun
Play some music and have a soda, "Running Scared" was number one
"Crying" is still a favorite, played "Candy Man" and "Dream Baby" so loud
I was mesmerized the first time I heard Roy Orbison sing "The Crowd"
There was "Evergreen", Working For The Man" and "Leah" in the year of 62
"In Dreams" , "Falling" , "Distant Drums" and I still love "Blue Bayou"
Roy rocked the house with "Mean Woman Blues"
"What'd I Say" made us put on our dancing shoes
"Indian Summer", "Indian Wedding", "She Wears My Ring"
"Oh Pretty Woman", "It's Over", "Goodnight" Roy would sing
When Roy sang "Lana" it would tear you apart
Don't forget "Breakin' Up is Breakin' My Heart"
When Roy sang, you didn't know which song to choose
He'd make you rock, make you cry, make you feel the blues
When Roy sang, he'd put a smile on your face
When Roy sang, the world seemed a better place.

Tribute to the greatest, bar none, singer song writer of all time.

Under Vincents Starry Night

You sought to spread God’s holy word
But Vincent, your voice went unheard

To another passion you turned
In that fire, oh how you burned

The whirlwinds of your troubled mind
Were birthed onto your canvass fine

As sweeping twirls up in the sky
Vincent, you tried to reason why

You fought to ease away your pain
You daily tried to remain sane

Brilliant yellow dripped from your brush
Brought on by the absinthe hush

Of the dread toxin, not aware
But it added to your despair

Flowers your brush strokes brought to life
You struggled on despite the strife

Those vibrant colors, vivid hues
Did not provide your daily dues

Only one painting did you sell
Tormented in a poor man’s hell

Many self-portraits, but who knew
To save money, yourself you drew

Your own model, a looking glass
The hours you did slowly pass

Sweet Vincent, your dear troubled mind
A quiet haven could not find

If I could travel back in time
I’d give you rest in love sublime

Vincent, she turned your love to jest
Yet still you tried, you tried your best

All around you, beauty you saw
Your legacy- my heart’s in awe

Brilliant colors dipped in your dreams
But who could hear those inner screams?

“Starry Night” turned to blackened sky
You bled to death, still wondering why

The world can be so harsh and cruel
They see the rough, and not the jewel

Your brilliant blue eyes still live on
Now that all your demons have gone

Now the whole world knows who you are
Vincent, the yellow orb, the star

I walk beneath your “Starry Night”
My saddened soul to fill with light

For your troubled mind, I still weep
The fight to stay sane, mine to keep

Famous finally after death
Vincent, you take away my breath.

Eileen Manassian Ghali

How I love Van Gogh! Why? Because of the beauty that poured out of his troubled mind. I feel an affinity with him. He suffered from epilepsy and some believe that he was bipolar due to the sheer volume of work produced during fits of mania. A troubled mind...not everyone has the fortitude to deal with a troubled soul. I should know. Every time I hear the song "Starry Starry Night" by Don Mclean..I want to cry to purify my soul. "But I could have told you Vincent, this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you." Here is the link. Listen to it, and remember me:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxHnRfhDmrk

Here is a quote from Vincent: "We spend our whole lives in unconscious exercise of the art of expressing our thoughts with the help of words."

In silence you came

No jingles, no bells
in silence you came.
No shopping hype,
holy was the night.

No cannons, red carpets,
you came as child,
to bring us close to Father,
on this silent night.

So Many

So many surviving,
Desperation is driving
Impulsive decisions
In need of emotional circumcision,
So many astray
In a world of disarray
Polluted by deception
In need of a spiritual resurrection,
So many sedated
Zombies that have mated
Domino effect
When the substance causes havoc
So many in a daze
From their lies and heathen ways
False comfort, counterfeit light
Consuming all their appetites
So many in chains
From years of hurt and pain
Paralyzed by the one
Who was cast out of the sun
So many bleeding
Yet they are doing the leading
Cannibals are feeding
Not listening to those who are pleading
So many, so many, run away
Traded their birth right for moments of gray,
Tranquilizers to disguise
The torment they hold deep inside
So many forgot,
That blood was shed to remove their spots
Tormented souls who have fallen down
Those who found out no one was around
So many isolated,
Infected with self-hatred
Pride comes before the fall
There is only one who can save them all
Only God can make them whole
Give them a purpose and a goal
So many drowning in their fears
In pure ignorance they don’t see clear.

Sally

Sally gave me an eggroll
when business had died-down.

One small and glistening eggroll
to take away my frown.

Thank you Sally; you generous Sally,
whom the dollar has no meaning.

You've bent the rules and made man fools;
and taken them out for cleaning.

The Difference My Life He Did Make

The Difference My Life He Did Make

Precious are the memories which lift my soul
Soring to heights of remembered laughs
The joys having made eternal will always last
Good experiences for the lessons I did learn
This life of a man who shared in kind
For in his living day by day
This man helped me in showing the way
A way of living as a better husband father and man
A way of living that I might stand
To stand tall for family friendship and right
That from this day-forth his trodden path reflects light
Light to shine when worries I do care
Light to glow my path when in despair
I rejoice to know the difference my life he did make

To Langston

To you, Langston, I pay my dues
You paint my world in lovely hues

Your words a balm to troubled soul
Whose dreams like yours, remain on hold

Langston, I stand behind the wall
I stand here too, feeling so small

Please teach me how to get on through
Teach me, Langston, to be like you

A “Dream Keeper” you claim to be
Keep the “rough hands” away from me

Like me, you wrote of ending life
Sick of injustice and the strife

Though often like me, your soul torn,
Said, “But for livin' I was born”

Heartbroken, and about to cry
You wouldn't let her see you die

“Life is fine, fine like wine, life is fine”
Yes, Dear Mr Hughes, it is sublime

I wish you had not died, my dear
When I was born, same month and year

But know your words are yet alive
Your passion and thoughts make me thrive

Here’s looking at you, Mr. Hughes
You do help chase away my blues

“The night comes gently black like” you
I wish you knew, I love you true!!!

Eileen Manassian Ghali

Dream Keeper

"Bring me all of your dreams,
You dreamer,
Bring me all your
Heart melodies
That I may wrap them
In a blue cloud-cloth
Away from the too-rough fingers
Of the world."

Langston Hughes

As I Grew Older

It was a long time ago.
I have almost forgotten my dream.
But it was there then,
In front of me,
Bright like a sun-
My dream.
And then the wall rose,
Rose slowly,
Slowly,
Between me and my dream.
Rose until it touched the sky-
The wall.
Shadow.
I am black.
I lie down in the shadow.
No longer the light of my dream before me,
Above me.
Only the thick wall.
Only the shadow.
My hands!
My dark hands!
Break through the wall!
Find my dream!
Help me to shatter this darkness,
To smash this night,
To break this shadow
Into a thousand lights of sun,
Into a thousand whirling dreams
Of sun!

Langston Hughes

PS...I love this poet. I love his work. I love his spirit. If you get a chance, read his poem, Life is Fine...He was jilted by his girlfriend and tried to commit suicide but in the end, he decided that life was too good to waste! ;) I made a reference to this in my poem. Amazing....Also, read Dream Variations or Dreams....I love this man! :)
