We danced amongst the stars that night
when joy had fallen far from sight
We danced under the sun so bright
And when all seemed lost, we held on tight
We danced to the music of hummingbirds
And we danced in the silence when there were no words.
We danced in the shadows of fear and doubt
And we danced when we questioned what life’s about
We danced amongst the evergreens
That posed for painters winter scenes.
We danced in the winters bitter chill
And when we danced our world stood still.
For that’s what love was meant to be
To find the dance when we cannot see.
To write a new song when the music stops
With lyrics that caress every tear that drops.
For when the rhythm changes and tempo slowed
We’re called to dance with the seeds we sowed.
For life is hard, there is no doubt
But Dancing through it, is what life’s about.
I wonder how things work, up there in the promised land,
I am willing to bet that your party there this year will be Grand.
Maybe there are other angel's tying up balloons and lighting chandeliers,
The love up there is more fullfiling then any we can find down here.
I bet you can dance now, and stand and walk all on your own.
I bet you sing amazingly, and you never have to sing alone.
I bet you have great discussions about all of us you left behind,
I just wanted to let you know, we are all going to be just fine.
See we are more blessed than most others ever get to be,
they wouldn't understand unless they felt love like you gave to me.
so Beautiful, so sweet, you were and are perfect in every way.
and I just wanted to say I miss you, and Happy Birthday!
Don't worry about us down here, you just enjoy your big day.
because, "I'm turning 21 with Jesus" is something we can only dream to say.
our tears aren't from sadness babygirl, this I hope you know.
It's just it's hard for us all to have a love so sincere and then have to let it go.
But, you go on back to your party and dance with your grandpa once for me.
and just know that I am happy for you, these tears,.... well sissy they are for me.
I love you bunches babygirl, there isn't anything I wouldn't give for another chance,
to just swoop you up into my arms, and have another dance.
I know I can't just yet but, please know I honor the memory,
of those days I was dancing with the Angel the good Lord sent to me,
I know that time has passed now, what was loaned must be sent home.
Just it's hard on your Birthday.... for us not to feel a little alone.

It was their night they shone bright as they danced their sweet dance
Two lovers embraced in their world of romance.
They laughed and they cried as their eyes locked in stare
It was their world for this moment as if no one was there.
And their steps they so flawlessly glided in tune,
To a melody that touched everyone in that room.
Their passion brought envy to onlookers there,
Who secretly questioned their own love affair.
But as the night closed and came to an end
The lovers were blind to what lie round the bend.
The house and the cars and the jobs that went bad
The kids drove them crazy and their savings were drab.
So they fought to hold on to the things in their life,
That caused them so much of their pain and their strife.
They fought with each other like enemies do,
And dismissed in their life everything that was true.
So when sickness and hardships and troubles occurred,
Their vows to commit seemed truly absurd.
Their home and their kids would now take a backseat,
For their moral obligation they chose not to meet.
So I Ask …
What happened to that dance they danced so well?
With passion and truth everyone could tell.
What happened to their dance where they held so tight?
What happened to the wonder of their glorious night?
What happened to the words that charmed their ears?
With a passionate rhythm that brought them to tears.
What happened to those vows that poured from their heart?
The “I love you forever and till death do us part”.
For these aren’t just words we borrow for the day,
From another who tells us this is what we must say.
We say them cause it’s what we feel true in our heart,
It’s a God given blessing we commit from the start.
But these words are now lost as they fall on deaf ears,
Since the pain and the struggles they’ve created these years.
So the lesson here learned dear people of odd,
Is that love is so fragile but made strong with our God.
So stop fighting for power and money or need,
For all of this nonsense is only our greed.
Keep God in your life and he’ll walk you through,
When heartache and pain and losses ensue.
For why commit vows in the eyes of our God,
And not call on him when life gets too hard?
For the truth of our vows we are all meant to see,
is that marriage is not, made of two, but of three
If reading these words ring some truth in your heart,
Decide that today you will make a new start.
Go hug your spouse and say something kind
Don’t let the small stuff cloud up your mind.
We’re all just lost souls who are trying to cope
If not there for each other then where is the hope?
You see, the anger, the fight
that in us abide, Is only the insecure child inside.
So rise up above all this fear and this pain,
And see all the beauty that there is to gain.
By trusting in God and his will for you
Together forever he’ll see you both through.
For life is too short for our miserly ways
cheap on our love hence dreading our days.
He made us to love in all that we do
To wake up each morning and start us a new.
So pray for your spouse, ask God to be kind
To the person you prayed in the beginning to find.
They’re still the same person you loved from the start
But life and it’s troubles have hardened their heart.
You vowed that you’d love them in sickness and health
Now is your chance to show God what you felt.
So rise up my friend, don’t say that you’re through
For what if your loving God gave up on you?
Crisp Autumn seeps through the day
Dew balances a fresh cut blade
Tangerine skies seethe God's Grace
Summer's vehment blaze...replaced
Slipping sweetness around my pillow
Cool winds dance with weeping willow
Stars twinkle down through thick dense trees
As spirits dance in fresh Autumn's breeze
Standing in the corner, watching all the love and romance
Watching the twirling couples with envy as they dance
The fast ones and the slow ones, they dance the night away
But I remembered what you told me, just the other day.
Yes you can dance if you long to, dance your night away
Dance until the dawn arrives, and the start of a new day.
But no matter how long you dance or which partner you dance with
Remember they just want to dance, they don’t have love to give.
The dance that is important is the last dance of the night
The last dance that you dance, will be with the one who loves you right.
When we are on the dance floor, and the rest of the dancers are gone
The dance will be for us my love, a dance of love that goes on and on.
On the dance floor of desire which is the dance floor of such love
We’ll dance the last dance together, as close as hand in glove.
The last dance will be a slow one, and will last our whole lives through
So save that last dance for me my love, the one that loves you true.
My Cousin's Wedding
Weddings happen here by the dozen
All are fun, especially if a cousin
Get a new outfit, have to look good in the croud
Make the best of the time that is allowed
The bride and groom get set for the night
Alot of time and money go into making sure all goes right
The ceremony is over, the bride and groom set out
The pastor calls them back , marriage license not signed, he shouts (hehe)
The right combination of people, music make a good reception
Where is the beer, head in that direction
Written on the cozie "I'm here for the free beer"
Laughing so much, has us in tears
So many relatives, which kid is for who
Can't remember names, faces will do
The dance floor is open, get out there and shake your booty
Go ahead, get a little fruity
Uncle Johnny does the alligator on the dance floor
Down on the floor, joined by more
It doesn't stop there, the bride leads the pirogue
Like a train behind her, a long line unfolds
Family, friends, togetherness like no other
Before nights end, you will know many others

A boy moved into our small town, lived just down the way,
His British accent and lovely white smile, just made my day.
He invited me to the Easter dance and bought me a corsage
From beginning to end, the whole scene seemed like a mirage.
I wore a new white and yellow dress my Mom sewed for me,
She placed yellow ribbons in my hair, they matched perfectly.
We walked hand in hand to the dance talking about school,
Meanwhile my stomach was churning trying to stay so cool.
We swayed to Hey Jude, I thought I was in heaven for sure,
Yet scared of what would happen next - was I too immature.
Then the song ended, if there were others there I was unaware,
He moved his hands up my arms and touched my lips with care.
My expectations were high, thought I’d know love right away,
But I felt nothing, my hopes dashed, we broke up the next day.

Who am I?
Am I defined by what is near in sight?
Am I defined by what I have done,
Or am I defined by what I could become?
Perhaps I'm of no use.
To him, or her, or I, nor you.
Or perhaps I'm too misunderstood to be defined,
And it is something like understanding that comes in time.
And if to the world I'm never shown,
Yet in my own light I've grown and grown,
And so I can know no happiness but my own--
The reason for my smile, to you, will forever be unknown.
I do not pray for the world to know my name.
For it and verse; the letters are the same.
And if a man should find his sorrow in what he reads,
I pray his pain my words to keep.
Should his eyes rain on my page,
Better tears than storms of rage.
And if a man should find his sorrow in what he reads.
I pray his pain my words to keep.
And if to the world you're never shown,
Yet in your own light you've grown and grown,
And so you know no happiness but your own.
Let the reason for your smile, to you, only be known.
A shared romance in haunting dance vision.
Two souls dance inside dream-worlds prism.
Outside the dream that grows the heart.
A tale of deep sorrow keeps them apart.
Rainbow sparkles on dream-prism’s glass
True loves token inside dreams do last
Outside the dream the dance is for one
Stumbling feet finding no place for fun
Joyful laughter is heard with toes tapping
Gone are the tethers of grief overlapping
Outside the dream in bitter-sweet steeping
Remembering the dance in realities keeping
Inside the dream reality doesn’t score
Outside the dream dreamers wish for more
< this poem is not about what is written, but what is not written
like the smile upon her face that looks nil and somewhat smitten
and lochs of hair hanging instead of with bows and lace
tell me my angelic angel have you fallen from God's good grace
has your garments of thread gone out of time
has your dance with the butterflies gotten out of rhyme
have you been cast from your lovers heart
or are you just looking to start over with brand new start
has clouds silver lining rained upon your dreams
has leafs dance gone frozen in crystal streams
time stands still amidst wondering thoughts
time stands still when lovers cant be sought

Entry For A Rambling Poet's
The Unwritten Contest
Swirling and twirling the gypsy dances
Skirt all askew gaining wanton glances
To sit in the confines of knowledge
At a desk the colour of porridge
An air of unescapable heat
At a desk the colour of wheat
The lure of the Mail Online
At a desk the colour of brine
Looking at Jamie Kirby's broken leg
At a desk the colour of regret
(Dedication: For Ann)
Note this new page open to cite,
An airy stage where I can write.
Note this bold spur upon the mile,
Let words incur the pensive style.
Hurl word for word in cryptic gloom,
Spin music heard in breezy boom.
Hurl appetite in sure, quick strides,
Let fangs now bite to quicken ride.
Look deep within to understand,
Yes, urge now wins a private plan.
Look to a code in core that wills,
Live fond and goad as laughter fills.
See face to face, touch cheek to cheek,
A lover's grace now finds and seeks.
See timeless time in sensual trace,
An endless rhyme in perfumed face.
Etch and align the course of feel,
Aim apt design in words that heal.
Etch and restore the cause that binds,
Appoint fond store to moments kind
Live in the light as darkness falls,
Love flames the right to ferment gall.
Live in the daze this earthly grain,
Love firms the maze to reveal plain.
Mind moves matter as heart moves feel,
Let mists scatter when soul funds will.
Mind feeds empty to secure all,
Let's learn to see beyond pure gall.
Soul comes to see beyond these shores,
Path knows beauty in lacking stores.
Soul sums all things with true bearing,
Path heaps and flings the life willing.

As I pull back the curtain you will see,
I am not the innocence you made of me.
Not quite the woman, no longer a child,
the heart that angers still speaks mild.
I will show you the stage I have carefully set.
I will dance a dance you will never forget.
Evoking the spirits, I set fire with my feet,
I bring upon light where my hands and sky meet.
I reach, spin and glide every heartbeat precise,
The fire is subdued by my smooth strokes of ice.
The elements, they come, as the spirit plays,
Wind spirals around me, my soul with it sways.
As my dance softly ends, gracefully I bow.
I have exposed my soul completely now.
Take all you know and give this poetess a chance,
I offer my hand..... May I have your dance?
We're dancing barefoot by a moonlit sea,
Silhouettes of two lovers so fancy free!

I glanced across the dance floor and saw her standing there
I saw her looking straight at me and I tried not to stare
I was kind of shy back then, for girlfriends, I had none
So when I saw her look at me I thought “is this the one”?
My friend Jim beside me said “Go on, ask her to dance”
And you'd better do it quickly before you lose your chance
My heart was beating rapidly as again I met her gaze
Then I walked in her direction, my mind was in a daze
“Would you care to dance”, (if she said no I would just die)
“Yes, that would be very nice” was her quick reply
I led fair maid onto the floor, put one hand on her waist
And slowly did the box step, while inside my heart raced
I knew right then I was in love, wings were on my feet
I hardly said a word to her til we walked back to her seat
With a smile I thanked her, and with shaking voice asked when
There was another slow one, could we dance again
She looked at me and sweetly said, “well now, that would depend”
“I'll dance if you will promise to introduce me to your friend”
May happiness and joy, fill your heart each morning
May passion, fill your spirit at lights dawning
May your smiles, greet and brighten every day
While swaying, to life's dance, partners in this ballet
Find all your solace, in each others arms
while your feeding, on each others charms
enjoy, the spring and summer of your life
and protect each other, from all the strife
In this journey, your life's purpose, will be fulfilled
Together, you'll greet the winter, and be thrilled
Pretty girl dancing on stage with an edge.
Hiding softness with cold eyes that look dead.
Costumes and glitter a mans fantasy.
Not the person she thought one day she'd be.
Daddy's little girl that was yesterday.
Today she's Lost in the rolls that she plays.
She looks in the eyes of the men as they stare.
Dancing and giarating swinging her hair.
Feeling the beat as she moves to the song.
Trying to believe she's doing nothing wrong.
Hoots and hollers they say take it all off.
Dirty old man at the front with a cough.
Dancing for money she has bigger dreams.
At home all alone her tears fall in streams.
A few more months maybe another year
Yet look at these girls that are still dancing here
Lies so convincing one day they will stop
Pouring out dreams never reaching the top
Her fire and slippers call her ever more
The cougar still takes to the dance floor.
The cubs she tries now to entice
Turn and ask her “What's her price?”
Bedecked bejeweled, her senses honed
But sipping vodka shots, still all alone.
The cougar losing her matriarchal hold
Younger cougars compete ever more bold.
Her latest prey so good, she wanted more
Turned in the bed, heard the click of the door.
A tap on the shoulder an aging man stands there
Wrinkled eyes, spare tyre, and thinning hair.
He says he’s watched her for a while
He knows he not quite her style.
Would she partake of a drink with him?
Her eyes wander to the cubs so slim.
Her hem length lengthens, her cleavage covered
The dance floors too loud, she feels smothered,
They now sit in a quite calm restaurant
Holding hands, this is what she wants.
Her cougar days are now ever gone
She has lit the fire with a special one.
Her stiletto shoes gone, they no more make her wince
She kissed the aging man, he turned into her prince.
Last dance and remembering…
One more year gone
Another page is turned
Looking like a yearbook photo
That has me concerned
What is there left to do
What is there left to say
If another year comes faster
Than this one went away?
Each year I take a minute
To look through a folder of mine
“Personal” is the label on the faded cover
But I wonder if there’s a sign…
Of longing to remember
All of the good times I framed
In news clippings – pictures now faded
By time that’s been claimed.
So will you dance with me?
And walk with me this one last time
Through this year of love lost and won
And then through years gone by.
After all, we may not ever
Go back home again
But there is a tiny, fleeting solace in
Taking time to remember when
Take a sip of the sky, Oh what a sight.
The sun is setting on our treasured night.
Like romantic propaganda we sit hand in hand,
and stare out into the shadows of the land.
Such romantic beauty to behold,
I'm holding you close so you won't get cold.
Dreaming of lives together as one,
as we watch the beautiful setting sun.
I couldn't ask for a sweeter combination,
like our poetry, we stir every sensation.
The power of the flesh, the dance of the heart.
On love's stage we play every part.
Mother Nature in all of her glory,
Plays the backdrop for our love story.
Two hearts coming together as one,
our new journey has just begun.
We could paint a picture, we could write a poem
We could call this a future, call it our home.
Its more than words and it is more than lines
When two lovers with a like mind combines
Come in, you wind, please, settle down
Must be quite tired, all that rushing around!
Tell me a tale – oh, come on, dear wind!
Tell me what you’ve seen, tell me where you’ve been?
Yes, please come in, wind, to tell me a story –
Whatever you speak of, I know will not bore me
You’ve flown over here, blown over there,
Visited places no one would dare
You’ve traveled so near, traveled so far,
Say, what is it like to touch all those stars?
You can drip like the rain, rush like the water,
Cool things way down or make them much hotter
You come on in, my dear, dear friend wind
Blow right through my soul, cleanse me deep down within
Then, take me with you as you go, my dear wind
Carry me gently, pull me loose from my skin
Let’s dance windy waltzes as we swirl through the air
A lover’s embrace – feel the joy we will share
When our wind dance is over & you return me to human,
I’ll feel so much better, a happier woman!
Yes, let us go then, wind, you and I
Throughout the galaxies let us spread wings and fly
Across the blue, true dream of sky
Let us go then, wind, just you and I
I welcome you all to the dance
A place where souls are held in trance
Destiny is our truest fate
Taking your soul will feel great
I was born unto this life
To distribute pain and strife
There is nothing you can do
I shall have this dance with you
As we dance across the floor
I shall show you what destiny is for
You can try with all your might
I will have this dance tonight
As we dance you should know
I will crawl up in your soul
So take my hand and join the dance
I hold your soul in my trance
No need to try and run away
With your soul I shall play
By the time I am through
Nothing that you can do
For I shall leave you like a shell
As I take your soul with my spell
There is nothing like a dark romance
So will you please join the dance?
Beauty can be rated by so many things
Like the noise birds make as they sing
Beauty is a flower growing from a seed
It also is a baby tender with its needs
If a person takes the time to look around
There is so much beauty on this earth to be found
Beauty can be a mountain all covered up with snow
Or it can be firelight with its entrancing glow
One thing in my life I have come to know
No beauty is as beautiful as the beauty of the soul
I posted this this way to show how
much poetry has changed me. I
guess now you understand why
I wanted to bury them old poems.
Sometimes like right now I just
can't help but cry for my pain is
Did Dance Them All
Long ago when I was just a teen
On dance floor did create a scene
With walk, shimmy and the twist
And rest which was a long list.
After giving her a kiss and hug
We both would do the jitterbug
And also bird when it took wing
You would find in a dancing fling.
If I were to dance like that today
All my arthritis would get in way
While rheumatism would try to ruin
Everything that I had been doing.
Pardon me for this intrusion
But after all it’s my illusion
So I guess it’s up to me
Who and what I shall be
So as I crack another grin
Over the situation I am in
Read these words of my truth
We are as old as our youth
Age is certainly no reason why
Grab a dream and kiss the sky
Winner is I have been told
He who holds all the Gold
Let me add one small detail
I think gold will melt in hell
I traded in my Midas touch
A pot of Gold for a crutch
That’s all ok I don’t even care
I earned the grey in my hair
I earned the wisdom in my truth
Making Poetry my fountain of youth
I reflect on what my life shall be
Grab a dream and dance with me
We will dance from star to star
Embracing who and what we are
Maybe we will stop by the moon
So our dance won’t end to soon
Kicking us up a little dust
Shaking off a little rust
Then back to earth for a while
I sure do love the way you smile
Eyes dancing with pure delight
As they meet with mine tonight
Take my breath and words away
Tell me my love what could I say
Give me love or give me death
Come closer let me taste your breath
Let me feel your every move
Soft, slow, tender and smooth
Come explode with me today
As through your soul I softly play
