                                    WOE THE WILLOWS GLOW

Willows sway and sleep along the rivers wind
In raptures of wild curves you will find
                                   Loves caress as feeling grows
                                         Lithely her dance flows
                                                 Slow swerving
                                        Grows faster then slows
                                         Lilting memories bestow
On a path that meanders you'll find
Willows sway and sleep along the rivers wind

Summer Rain

Standing on the sidewalk,
Underneath the trees,
My ears can hear it talk,
Murmuring with the breeze,
Every drop hits the street,
Running in it's own way,

Raining down it's own beat,
A song it just wants to play,
I can feel their dancing feet,
Near mine on a summer day.

Music calms the angry heart, its glorious rhythm penetrates the dark, the way I feel when the sound waves seep through my hair, consumes my soul with a suttle stare, my feet so happy, my body enriched with vibrations, my soul so at ease, I'm here for the taking.

I play from my experience, I put on a show, my hidden words entangled with the things that I know, smiles surround me, they glance by my feet, their inner beings amazed by my beat.

I beat my drums, I play my strings, they show me their affection, this is where I get my wings, they say I can fly, it seems I can soar, my music so perfect, they keep asking for more.

I do what I love, and they love what I do, music is my life, I am so happy that I can share it with you.

Sometimes I sit in wonder,
Thinking about
All the stories
I so fondly
Remember from Uncle
Walter; telling me
About his experiences during WWII, oh so many
Years ago.

There were so many stories of considerable note but
Only the ones where he danced with many of

Those movie “starlets” at the
“Hollywood Canteen” still brings joy to my heart for him.
Each time he was there, many of those beautiful women

Sought his handsome and genteel 6’4” company on the dance floor.
Then out of the hundreds of G.I’s on the dance floor,
Ava Gardner ran up to him saying “Hello Walter, I saw you when you came in the door!”
Receiving a permanent war disability and never married, Walter made it to 2011.
Somehow, I want to believe Walter and Ava are now dancing on the stairway to heaven.

By John Trusty for the acrostic, “stairway to the stars” contest.

This a true story about the second of many more times Walter danced with Ava Gardner at the “Hollywood Canteen.” Walter must have been one hell of a memorable dancer.

Give Me Dancing Music

I've been tempted.
And it's not so good.
I'm gonna pick up the pieces.
Then mend my ways.
So give me dancing music.
Let me dance all day.
Let me lift my feet up.
Then dance across the floor.

Dit-dit-dit-dance across, dance across.
Dance across the floor.
Let me dance across, dance across.
Dance across the floor.

I've been waiting.
For you to arrive.
And I was wondering.
If you were mine.
I can go on forever.
Or take my time.
Go on forever.
Or dance till nine.
So give me dancing music.
Let me dance all day.
Let me lift my feet up.
Then dance across the floor.

Dit-dit-dit-dance across, dance across.
Dance across the floor.
Let me dance across, dance across.
Let me dance across the floor..

Puttin On The Ritz

"Puttin' On The Ritz"
Pleasing pleasure and laughter
Uptown on Lenox Avenue
To the music and beautiful, charismatic, night lights
The night is young
Intriguing with glamour and luxury the
Nightlife for Puttin on the Ritz

Out wearing my slinky, sexy sequin top to toe dress
New satin stiletto shoes to impress

Top hat, arrow collar, white spats, and tails my man is dressed like the Prince of Wales
Hand in hand, we dance with passion and grace in
Elegance of the adorn ballroom

Rhythm and dance
In riches and in style
Tonight exuberance
Zazzy, zizz, entertaining Puttin on the Ritz

Taste buds astute.
How perspicacious are you?
Everyone tends to know food.

Socializing and now you are ready for your appetizer.
Kicking off your shoes and now you are relaxing.
Yesterday was hectic but today is perfect.

Involve your mind because you are
Sassy and fine.

Taste of champagne
Has my mind playing games
Every time I hear your name.

Let’s party
Invigorate the environment
Motion and rhythm
Intimate and together
This is our time.

Dance ballerina dance
All the stations played it
Nat King Cole was the star
Couples smooched to the music
In every club and bar
Naughty things happened after dusk,
Girls wed, babies all premature.

Autumn's Song and Dance

A cold wind rattles my window
Under blankets I snuggle warm
The beautiful flowers sadly will bloom no more
Until the cold weather has gone
Merry still the birds that sing and dance
Now the trees lay down their emerald gowns
Silent flocks of birds fly away

Summer delight is over
On the ground the brittle leaves all lay
Nothing is green for it has turned to gold
Glittering, swirling, twirling in an Autumn dance

Around the fireplace at night we gather
Nights long with the sighing wind
Down the sun early

Dance the tumbling, trembling leaves
And the forest is crimson and golden
Naughty bandit squirrels steal things strange
Come dance the forest path with me
Everything is beautiful and changing magically

DJ Drop the needle on the record
And send strong waves singeing my synapses,
Nudging my senses, confounding each cord
Composing my sinews to move in accord,
Enthralled by the notes dancing on the staff.

Just you, I want to dance with from sunrise to sunset,
Under the sky, merged in fusion, in union with summer's daylight hours,
Naturally our feet synchronize in a plethora of Tango, Waltz and Samba,
Enchanted we dance the night away as stars watch on in the pale moonlight.

1st of the Last Men

Naturally is all you have to say
Ay i wake up to get my pay
Tell it through and true
U know i cant go our looking blue
Riding fancy clothes and wearing fast cars
All I have to do is aim for the stars
Lie to me like they lie to you
Looks like your dream has come true
You kneel then pray to see another day

Naturally that would be the last line but the lie i was told cant stop me from writing. It actually makes me write more and i know how it is on the road, coming out of bathrooms stepping on toads. Your life is pure so what is next, answer your phone very important text. Step outside to get some air, hiding from the people you thought you knew but found new friends in an empty room. Tired and breathing with fire from your chest, the door opens and you see that you will always be running from things you ran from in the past. Be a stop sign, posted on all most every street to stop the cars coming your way and when they pass you can resume your day.

In The Mood For Love Again

In The Mood For Love Again

Insomnia comes on again
Night slows the pace of nature
The show girls hit the clubs
Hide from love
Ethereal sounds fill the air
Music comes from everywhere
On Tuesdays drinks are free
Only police can keep the peace
Drunks walk the streets like zombies in a sleep
For hours finding nothing there
Ordinary couple’s watch their children slumber
Remembering when they themselves were younger
Love would fill their waking hours
Over bridges and past the mighty towers
Vigilance and light would guide them on their walks
Eternity was always with them in their secret talks
As they found their favorite bar
Geared up to party near and far
And give the night a chance to find romance
Intrinsic in loves eternal dance
Night clubs fill in that void to love again once more
