Author's Notes:  This particular romantic Shakespearean Sonnet, entitled:  "Your Kiss," is being released and posted by me to Poetry Soup today October 14, 2014 which just happens to be my 63rd birthday.  I am dedicating "Your Kiss," in honor of my wife of over 23 years -- Ingrid.  In this write, I scrupulously upheld the strict requirements for the structuring and flowing of this sonnet following the traditions established by Shakespeare.  For me, as a poet and writer, the implied acts of  "Kissing," "Touching," "Caressing," and "Gazing" are all very emotive actions that are to be beheld and cherished when a man and a woman are involved in that most intimate and sharing relationship between two people.  Both of these states of being or attributes together constitute a most special feeling and a powerful emotive force in our lives.  (Gary Bateman, October 14, 2014) (Shakespearean Sonnet poetic format)

Categories:  allegory, beauty, emotions, feelings, i love you, together, wife.

The technical parameters of this Sonnet are rendered as follows:

Syllables Per Line:  10

Total # Syllables:  140

Total # Lines:  17 (including empty lines)

Total # Words:  115

Rhyme Sequence:  abab|cdcd|efef|gg

Meter:  Iambic Pentameter

Your kiss is so rapturous my great love; Your red lips are like red rubies precious; A love quite special in Heaven above; And ever no doubt much and more precious. I know my emotions soar very high; Your thoughts always pervade my thoughts so true; You shall never have to ask when and why; We share our love passion so very true. Your kiss will always be my special bliss; Your touch and caress so gentle so warm; Our eyes gaze softly as we move to kiss; And our love will be so sweet and so warm. And by all on Earth I value so much, Nothing compares with your kiss and your touch! Gary Bateman, Copyright © All Rights Reserved, (October 14, 2014) (Shakespearean Sonnet)

Thanks Maurice. Coming from you, the acknowledged "Master of Romance Poetry," I treasure your comment. Both Ingrid and I really do enjoy your poetry. You also have a tremendous sense of humor!! And thanks for the B-Day wishes. An old friend of mine back in the USA told me that "63" is really "36," so I'm getting younger!! Cheers, Gary

Hi Gary, I enjoyed your sonnet very much. Ienjoyed the Author notes as well. You are blessed. Check your second line it may be short a syllable, unless you are counting "lips" as two syllables.

Hello Richard, Thanks for you review and comments here. I'm glad you enjoyed this sonnet. And thanks also for your information concerning the second line. I did go back and review my original draft with syllable construction and everything appears to be correct. I appreciate this level of detail. I try to catch things too for other authors. It's easy to make mistakes. Cheers, Gary

Hello Demetrios!! Thanks so much, as always, for your read and review. This is evidence for you that the "Goethe of Halloween" can indeed write something romantic for a change. (Ha Ha) I really enjoyed writing this sonnet, and I plan to write more of them -- especially the Shakespearean style. Best Wishes Always, Gary

Robert my good friend . . . always indeed a pleasure to hear from you!! My wife did indeed enjoy this sonnet very much. The fact I dedicated it to her on my birthday was also something she liked. She reads all the works I write and has a palpable influence always. I actually feel "36" now and not "63." How about that?? Writing younger and living younger too!! Cheers, Gary

D, I'm not really all that old. When you invert the numbers, "63" becomes "36." Anyway, I'm so glad you liked the poem. And my continued best wishes to you always. Cheers!! Gary (P.S. Keep Writing and "Spill Ink"!!!)
