You Touch Me With Your Words

You touch me with your words Syllable sensations Sound unit caresses Meaningful moans From all those Adjective crescendos That climax into verbs Pounding Each phrase a taste Punctuation reverberations of love Placed just in the right place To make me quiver Your thoughts turned words turned hands Hold me steadfast Unable to move away Captivated by content of your dreams I stay I try to breathe You splash your scent in syntax Fragrant oil A grammatical rub That makes me lose my senses My sight blurs I reread I bleed I’m freed Oh those words that you string together Have me strung and tied So beguiled By your masterful mind That has me play That has me thrive That has me dream In the letter land of your love… Eileen Manassian I have a love affair with words....I've written a poem entitled, Poetry was Her Best Lover! Ah...but words are living entities! They breathe and touch and love a heart in such fantastic ways!

Love this. Words do have life. The worlds were created by words...God spoke and things came to be. Christ is the living Word. It is mysterious like bread. We can use words for good or evil. They have power. I love how they can bend or be poured like a liquid. Love your words.

You and me we use so very many clumsy words. The noise of what we often say is not worth being heard. When the Father's wisdom wanted to communicate His love, He spoke it in one final perfect Word. He spoke the incarnation, and then so was born THE Son. His final word was Jesus, He needed no other one. Spoke flesh and blood so He could bleed and make a way Divine. And so was born THE baby who would die to make it mine. And so the Father's fondest thought TOOK ON FLESH AND BONE. He spoke the living luminous word, at once His will was done. And so the transformation that in man had been unheard, Took place in God the Father as he spoke that final Word. And so the Light became alive and manna became Man. Eternity stepped into time so we could understand

Faye, thanks for dropping by. Yes, I am aware of John 1:1. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God! :) Do you know the song FINAL WORD by Michael Card? Oh...you should hear it. One of my favorites!! James speaks a lot about the power of the tongue. Thanks for your lovely post. Hugs

After a poem like that who wouldn't love grammar and who wouldn't love your student to be? Excellent, dear Eileen!

Its so very amazing what poetry can communicate to the pulse of imagination and the purr of our most sensitive spaces Eileen. I happily admit, that you invigorate my veins, vision and the voom of my heart. This ingenius composition touches upon all the right literary techniques of lust and liberation, WOW WOW!! " That climax into verbs...Splash your scent in syntax", and the best, " In the letter land of your love ", uh ah oh, I'm in heaven...you this is Masterpiece/FAV. J.A.B.

Justin....you are too kind to me! :) I revel in it. Thanks ever so much. The VOOM of your heart enjoyed this piece? I'm glad! Your scent in syntax....I really don't know how that came to me. I don't usually write in this style, but I'm trying to diversify. You're writing style must be rubbing off on me! If you're in heaven, save me a seat.

Thank you, Dr Upma... :) Words affect me WAY too much! ;) I remember them....forever, it seems. Unfortunately, I do remember the painful ones as well. We must really be careful with what we say AND write...but sometimes...it's good just to LIVE in the words. Hugs

I so relate to your feelings about words, for me they are a portal to mind body and soul. I watched a movie last night called "The Book Thief", it was amazing and sad. The authors words conveyed such powerful emotions and we were all moved to tears. You are blessed with such a gift Eileen. Hugs Rick.

Thanks for this kind post, Richard. You are gifted with the ability to move and inspire with your words. I know...I mentioned to hubby that you wrote about this movie. He saw it on the plane on one of his trips and it really moved him. I should watch it, but I'm too fragile to watch something very sad at the moment. Perhaps later...Thanks!

I make love to them...and they make love to me! ;) Pretty fulfilling, wouldn't you say? Thanks for your visit, Nette. Very sweet of you. Remember, I do teach English, so.....I do love all aspects of the language...grammar included! ;)

now eileen, THIS is precisely the sort of poetry I'm after in my contests!! the frustrating thing for me is that I know you can do it - you've just proved it here! go on, be brave and enter (I shouldn't really be saying that, should I? I'll get myself in trouble!) fantastic poem :) (I'm wondering if perhaps you need to add an 'ing' on those last lines? I'm not sure, what do you think?)

Thanks, Charlotte. I've gotten first and second place wins with some judges. They even challenge me to write in forms that are new to me and I appreciate the challenge. They are pretty tough judges as well. At times, it just boils down to preferences, I guess. I will give your contest a look see. I've written a confessional poem called....Confessional Booth on Fire...It is rhyme...and I'm sure it wouldn't be up your alley...I'll see if I can come up with something new. Hugs

I'm not being gracious, I'm being honest! It IS fantastic! yes, I am quite a tough judge, so the wins may not come as frequently with me, but when they do, you know you've produced something outstanding...I can't speak for other sponsors, but a 4th or 5th with me means excellent work...if you place anywhere on my list it means that (in my opinion) you've produced something really special :) poetry is more than a hobby for me, too, so I do understand

I once wrote two sizzlers....The one I DIDN'T enter you contest you liked...the one I DID...didn't place, if I remember correctly. I just don't know how to do that whole different type of imagery thing, you know? I wish I did. Thanks for liking this. I was in a sort of MOOOD! ;) I want to use the simple tense for that is true of habitual things....which is what poetry does...rather than emphasize the continuous nature of it. Make sense?

Hey sweetie!! You ARE SO GRACIOUS in this post. I'm so touched. You know...I'll be frank with you. Poetry is more than a hobby for me. When I don't do well in contests...I'm gutted. For a LONG time. I only join contest that I think I can do well in. For example...I'm going to stop joining contests by a certain sponsor because I NEVER do well. 4th or 5th place...This person has a different writing style and I'm sure my work doesn't impress. That's why I shy away from your contests and some others. It's not because I don't honor you. It's because I don't want to set myself up for failure. I'm just so touched by your post, Charlotte. YOU are an amazing writer....
