Witness To Grand Death

They fall gracefully; leaves die in their golden days. Awed, I watch terpsichoreans' Grand Death.

I like poems to have words which are commonplace, not ones that required a previous Wiki search by the writer to find out their existence for the first time, and for the rest of us to query what they even mean.

If googling a word to ensure one still has correctly spelled it is a no-no for you then fine...continue your way. I find my way safer, and speaks of my respect for the readers who appreciate my poetry. It you don't like it then it's alright with me. Thank you just the same for checking out my poem.

To find out their "existence"? What are you saying Julia? Will you come right out and say it? I do not wish to put words in your mouth but neither do I appreciate insinuations. Say it directly so I can make a rebuttal. And please speak for yourself, the two other people who referred to the word here except Charlotte who seems to have read of it already appreciate learning, just like I do.

Would you clarify your comment, Julia? Why do you say "showing off Wiki-found words are not their main intention"? Much as I appreciate your presence here, I'd like to disabuse you of the notion that it was just a Wiki-found word. My intention as I'm sure others' are, is to give my own take of the leaves as they fall to their death. Using the word came naturally as I've mentioned below, it was a familiar word during my school dance lesson days.

Only in the shedding of the leaves with the tree continue to live -- the dance of death is transformed to life! Nicely done Kim

unusual one here, that word dominating the scene - the only other place i've seen it is in t s eliot's 'old possum's book of practical cats', his poem 'song of the jellicles' - congrats on your win in the contest! :)

oh, you made me have to see a dictionary for that word. GREAT job. It sure is hard trying to fit in the syllables for this form, isn't it? I even tried doing it by word count as well as syllable. Very challenging it was! Grand death is a VERY good way to say it, Kim. I enjoyed your cinquain.
