When velvet turns to stone When heart forgets the home When lovebirds all have flown When only hate is shown When kindness turns to night When blindness covers sight When fear chases delight When dreams have taken flight When trust is torn in two When old gives way to new When dry replaces dew When words are listless, few True velvet will remain The texture still the same It lives up to its name Plush softness is its claim It will not suffer blame It will not taste of shame True velvet will remain…… Eileen Manassian

I read this last night, and came back to comment. I am loving your latest compositions, Eileen! This is exceptional poetry in my eyes. So beautiful, I can feel the endurance of pain, sadness and suffering, though it's as if with all of those things, the words remain strong, telling it like it is. I've always admired your passionate pen. This one is going to my favs! Love it! Always, Laura

I'm so pleased that you like my work, Laura. Opinions change...however, something that was beautiful...remains beautiful...despite the change of opinion. :) Thank you for your gracious visit and comment. You are truly, a lovely woman. Hugs

Such rhythm. Nice last line, I was a little concerned there for a minute that this poem might be going in the other direction.

What a touching write! Let the true velvet prevail and propogate.... And let the trust unworthy leave the place for all the good:-) Deep meaning in this capsule dear Eileen Love, Anulaxmi

Oh when people change and so their love nest..When new replaces the old...What happens then apart heartache...That velvet gives hope..that everything might change but some passion will remain..So true Eileen..So true...Love it.

People do change....perceptions change...but what is of beauty...remains, Charmaine. I find comfort in that. :) Something as beautiful and soft as velvet is what it is....it can never change to stone...no matter what others think of it due to whatever misconceptions they may have. You are a sweetie pie. I love you. Hugs
