When The Morning Light Hits

She cherishes something that doesn't exist
A truth that she lives by
From a fictional script
I will not be staying
When the morning light hits

She runs through my hair
With her slender white hand
She says "Could you stay?" and I say that I can
She says "Are you happy?" and I say that I am
And I should be honest. A man should be honest...

When she asks if I love her, I search for the words
But they're in a pile
With my shoes and her shirt
I'm losing my answer, in a passionate kiss
But I'll gather it quickly, when the morning light hits

Well done! I don't usually read love or loved loss poetry as they usually drip with clitches and yet are dry of imagery. Yours, on the other hand, is rather startling and the last five lines deserve applause. Looking forward to reading more of your work. Cheers, Cyndi
