When Friends Fight

It hurts to watch the anger of friends Both desperately wanting to be heard Each keeps pushing neither of them bends The destructive power of a word Rising from the anger of the heart Both desperately wanting to be heard The dance continues each play their part A sad tune that drifts along the air Rising from the anger of the heart What's strange is that I realize they care In the moment their passions collide A sad tune that drifts along the air Others drawn in as they choose a side Many people drawn into the fight In the moment ther passions collide You me or him is anyone right? Many people drawn into the fight It hurts to watch the anger of friends There can be healing if someone bends

Hmm the pain of friendships...and selfishness...which is usually the reason we fight. Great write Richard. It's a good reminder to listen instead of spouting off and pushing my pride away if I need to be the one to bend.

This a very good poem. There is a lot of hurting and a lot of pain, when friends fight. It hurts because - they really care fior eachother. I have a friend for 45 years and there has never been a fight. We may know a lot of people, but very few can be our friends. Thanks for sharing.... Lucilla

Love the line "both desperately wanting to be heard" Sometimes just listening can end an argument. When both sides are trying to be heard, who is listening? Another great poem from you.

It is such a difficult thing to deal with when our mutual friends have disagreements. It is like seeing your parents fight, and wanting to choose both of their sides. I do think that forgiving and forgetting is the best way to end it and move on. This poem is very well expressed, Richard. Nice work!

I love the verse in Poe's "To:_____" poem, which states, "That years have been forgot in the hatred of a minute". I try to call on this verse when I have terrible fights with loved ones and friends. Enjoyed this piece by you, Richard :)
