What sound does a heart make Before it’s about to break? Before it’s torn in two Let me ask you What sound does it make? Is it the sound of a sigh That searches for a “why?” Is it the sound of a brittle laugh When a heart is torn in half? Is it the mad sound of a scream? The requiem to end a dream? Is it the sound of a sad song? Soulful, when all’s gone wrong? Is it the sound of a rhyme? That floats like a mournful chime? What sound does a heart make? What it’s about to break? Perhaps it is the silence… As a tear slides down the face When there's no more saving grace The silence of love gone cold That was blazing bright, bold It is the sound of silence For the deepest pain is mute When love has played the brute When love has torn in two When there’s nothing left to do There is…..the silence. Eileen Manassian

Silence...definitely silence but not tranquil ....deep hurting pain accompanying the silence....happy to say I don't have that feeling...hugs Tim

Silence does not mean absents of feeling, it may be exactly what you need at this time, so that your mind and heart can manage to deal with what has brought you to your knees. Emile.

Did you mean "When it's about to break". This is a very sad yet powerful piece. The picture of the eye in the sky is haunting!

"What sound does a heart make"/ Eons, an answer to give will take,/ For no matter what the sound may be/ The heart is bound to suffer eternally! A profound and agonizing question that the suffering heart howls searching consolation and understanding! Masterfully written poem inspired by the pain that lingers in the heart and soul of a person who loves! A seven, dear Eileen!
