Watching From the Inside

The rain pours and drenches the land Washing the color away As I watch and try to understand This endless rain, day to day Winter points a finger, with blasts of cold air Coating snow early, then it disappears I’m not ready, as I try hard to prepare The weather ahead, brings frosty fears The mountains are ready to be dressed With white beauty for all to see But many have already confessed It is hard to survive, while some flee Wild birds show endurance, coming for seed And we find comfort with the wood stove fires Burning to fulfill our yearning need Because love and warmth always inspires Then the hours will not seem as long In your arms, watching it all from the inside Knowing it is where we belong Embracing all that we each confide Heidi Sands 11/2/18

While people in Southern states pray for relief from heat, your poem describes beautifully how it must be in areas where winter comes early. That first snow is so vivid here and I like the way you personified winter by having it "point" its finger. Stay warm! Enjoyed, Carolyn

The imagery of seasonal change and beauty in your poem warms my heart like a cozy wood stove fire but nothing beats the warmth of being in the arms of love... A beautiful and sentimental poem, Heidi. Warmest wishes.. ~ Susan

Lovely Heidi, A mixed expression, the bleak vs the beautiful. But it, as so many things brings it back to love. True warmth, that from the heart.

Used to work outside in all weathers but now I have a choice now that I'm retired. When it gets too wintry you'll find me inside. Lovely verse Heidi. Tom.
