Upon the Writing of Free Verse

Writing mostly rhythm with rhyme I find it such sweet poetry. Upon occasion I find time to compose a verse that is free. I slave like a night owl up-tight finding the task not so fluent. Like a tangram that won't fit right some pieces I'm sure are truant. The fitting of free thought's a curse - herculean and out-of-whack. Upon the writing of free verse I get lost in the art of abstract. Reason A. Poteet Philosophical

Congrats on a Wonderful poem. . Robert Hass in comparing metered poems with Free Verse states:‘……the metrical poem begins with an assumption of human life which takes place in a pattern of orderly recurrence with which the poet must come to terms-

Meter organizes accents into an overall pattern and more or less evenly times the lines bringing an organizing influence that allows the story to unfold. The Free verse poem…begins with an assumption of openness or chaos in which an ordermust be discovered. The basic fact of free verse: each poem is shaped from within.

Completely, wholly and totally identified with this poem. I'm not a fan of free-verse or non-rhyme. Although I dabble just a bit in free-verse, it's definitely not my forte and it does not move me the way a good rhyming piece does. I don't know/fathom/understand this current obsession with free-verse. Rhyme, I believe, is superior. *ducks and runs for cover to avoid in-coming attacks lol*

LOL... I like this. I remember writing something similar years ago... then I did a 360 and wrote one called FREE THE VERSE.... I especially liked the last line here... Cause I read it two ways... getting lost can be worrisome and annoying... or it can lead to new adventures and broader horizons. Well done!

Thanks for the comment; I'll have to look up FREE THE VERSE. Is it on PS. A little tongue in cheek perhaps, because I do spend much more time writing form poetry than in writing free verse. My point is when I write something, I want it to know what I've said.
