Top of the World

polar ice cap melts bears cling to floating glaciers... world’s top is shifting north pole relocates tropical forests are glazed... history repeats *Entry for Skat’s “Top of the World” haiku contest. Many scientists believe the North Pole is in the process of shifting and that there is no real danger from alleged “global warming.” It’s a natural cycle that recurs about every 10,000 years.

Carolyn, congrats! what I most admire about this piece and your work in general, is your poem accomplishes more than just pretty words sprinkled on a page (not to disparage such!)I feel poetry can change the world one poem at a time....and your efforts prove it....sadly I'm afraid the Polar Bear will become extinct within the next 10-15 yrs. along with a few other "Arctic Dwellers" that won't be able to survive the combination of global warming AND oil-exploration, (which will have No effect on moving away from foreign oil, by the way.....love, jimbo

i like the polar bear image and how you used the glaciers shifting to transition into the north pole shifting. i do beleive in global warming and instead of telling us it's not happening, they should be telling us how to prepare! your poem is a thought provoking piece. good luck in the contest :)

Sometimes feels like I am on top of the world no just kidding. The planet is always shifting and we as humans have no control with mother nature's course-much as we would like to control it we can't.--it will do what it does for the next million years. Good luck in the contest.

This Is exactly the kind of things I take keen interest in! This is a WINNER! Mother earth the Sky's Newborn Nebula Blues, the Poles, All changing, We're Changing! I feel it. I see it in the sky. Tonite's sky in SC was the most alarming sight I have seen in years! I took a tone of pics (but on my phone)Looked like Apocalyptic scenes!
