To the Teenage Girl
To the teenage girl out there who feels less worth
Who walks around with a dark cloud of shame and confusion
Who doesn't understand life, who is not understood by life
I was that teenage girl
I dealt with anxiety and low self esteem
They called me mute
I fought bullying with tears
They said I had a "heavy tongue" , they couldn't understand me
I always felt inferior
I eventually just wanted to be an underdog
Everyday I dreamed of running away, not to be seen again
I used to be that teenage girl
But pen and paper saved me
