To Survive

Swaying away in the glints of the sun shielding the mice from the birds overhead smiling shly thinking my work's nearly done nearly time to sleep in my earthy bed Soon the sky will darken, sun disappears the fronds  will curl up to sleep till dawn When sun is up , it stretches and re-appears ready to shield and hide and look upon  The fronds remind me of a parents part in shielding and keeping us from harm This done with  love and from the heart always there for us , always  so calm Relaxed in the knowledge of a job well done opens up the shield lets the light into our lives Time for us all to make the decisions alone your folks step back, it's up to us to survive

Dear Seren, How sad it is for us too late to realize what our parents have done for us. Their unconditional love we take for granted without appreciating it till the day comes for us to survive! Beautiful and well structured poem! Thank you!
