This Life

This Life By: Woodrow Odom Lucas Sometimes as I listen to the Beatles, I find a sadness that I need to feel, I find a shadow that resents God for my suffering, And hates the devil for what he has stolen from me, Sometimes as I listen to the Beatles, I find a sadness that I need to feel, I see mothers of 4 on the street asking me for some change and then bursting into tears as I give her ten dollars. Sometimes as I listen to the Beatles, I find a sadness that I need to feel, And I see a man in bed, begging God for death because he can’t stand the voices in his head any longer. Sometimes as I listen to the Beatles, I feel a sadness that I need to feel, For it reminds me that loss, regret, suffering, sadness, pain, and the shadow are all part of life that that they are supposed to be here. Sometimes as I listen to the Beatles, I find a sadness that I need to feel, But as I keep listening, I begin to enjoy the genius of Paul and John’s songwriting, And I find myself thinking of all the beautiful things that have happened to me and all the beautiful things I have done, And I realize, weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning, Suffering is, but it was created to be temporary, Whereas Love and Joy are eternal, And there isn’t one person who has ever lived who won’t know joy and love eternal, Sometimes as I am listening to the Beatles, The beauty of their music ignites my soul, and I get a taste of the heaven that awaits us all.
