The Wisdom of My Heart

My heart is wise in love years the wisdom has come with its own price the shedding of blood mixed with tears and the actualization of fears My heart is wise In love years It has markings promises not kept have gouged deep leaving furrows of remembrance scar tissue of still throbbing pain betrayal has almost torn the chambers in two lots of repair work to do but my heart has survived it still thrives it’s wisdom beyond belief cautiousness its new beat My heart is wise In love years The scars have made it callus unfeeling no longer supple A hardened mass of wisdom regarding the nature of “love” and that of others whose hearts are whimsical swayed by things like beauty and lust not loyalty and trust My heart is wise My heart is strong My heart is invincible but something is wrong for with wisdom has come... a strange forgetfulness my heart no longer remembers the throbbing life giving beauty of true love… Eileen Manassian

Some say that youth is wasted on the young... but some could just as easily say that wisdom is wasted on the old. I'd pick loyalty and trust over beauty and lust any day :) The first qualities are solid, the other two are temporal and go away. Beautifully crafted, Eileen... one of your best.

Justin's poem this morning made me think of you. I believe your heart to be wise but I could never see it as hard. Your softness is revealed in your writing.

Oh...that is so sweet, Richard. I'm glad it made you think of me. You are very kind and sweet to encourage me, Richard. As you can see...I haven't written for a while. I'm contemplating! :) Hope you are having fun. Hugs

A warrior's heart knows the pain of blood rain, scars a song of sting with blue stain, yet your passion must remain...let your wisdom nurture love again Eileen. Your wisdom is noble steel. J.A.B.

Thank you, Justin. For the visit....for the words of advice...and for being, yourself, a true warrior. I love that image, and I believe you are one. Brave, strong, and true. Perhaps you have a stronger heart than mine. Sometimes the mind must take rule over the heart. My heart is unruly, but I will learn to tame it. Hope to read a poem soon from you, Justin.

Your heart IS wise, in more than love years too...Love the repetition of those lines in the last two verses and oh how I identify with the last one! You have become one of the elite poets on PS....SO talented. I'm gonna go back to your very first poem to see how far you have come...Maybe not that far? Your loyal and faithful friend - Timothy Hugh Ryerson

Tim...this moved me so much...I was too tired to post a reply yesterday. Four classes to teach and then I helped me friend by doing her make up for her defense of her MA Thesis. I helped he with the refreshments for later. By the time she left in the evening...I was exhausted. Tim....one of the elite poets is one of the nicest things that anyone has ever said to me. My poetry is my life. Did you know that Ernest Hemingway committed suicide when he found himself no longer able to write? :( I'm losing that desire as well...to write is becoming difficult. I've been discouraged of late, so your post came at a lovely time.

I wish my heart could be wise Eileen..Its still in learning progress. Its so easy to be carried away by lust and beauty,or beautiful promises, but many of these words remain words,Loyalty is a big word in these days, snd I guess there can never be trust without loyalty.Yes love can hurt us,make us feel like breadcrumbs of a once delicious cake.Your words are wise sis.I can feel both pain and wisdom.here-lAwesome heart grabbing post.

hello, my dear. Thank you for your post and for sharing your heart. Those who are givers are often those whose hearts are most wounded. I've come to a place where I'm closing doors of my heart in interest of self-preservation. Even those nearest and dearest can inflict pain. Being naïve is also not a desirable trait. Ah...but I'm getting wiser! Thank you for sharing your heart. It is beautiful
