The Warmth of Our True Love

Author's Note: This particular love poem, "The Warmth of Our True Love," is rendered in the Terzanelle poetic format. This poem speaks of true love being forever, and since "love" is God's gift to us, it shall never leave us. The destiny of two people as they share the emotion and ecstasy of their love is part of the larger divine nature of God's very love which touches the depths of their souls. This theme is arrayed against the structural requirements for the Terzanelle made for a challenging, yet a most interesting write. The phrasing of certain parts of the verses reflect some subtle comparative hints of metonymy and metaphor. This poem is also a continuation of the theme of the "oneness of love" that I've presented in earlier love poems, whereby two people together can share this "oneness" in this life and later in eternity. The Warmth of Our True Love The warmth of our true love is forever, As we walk hand-in-hand in God’s bright light. Our love is God’s gift and shall leave us never. We know dear one our love always feels right, As we savor all of this emotion; As we walk hand-in-hand in God’s bright light. Our desire is a magical potion Of heavenly force and cosmic power, As we savor all of this emotion. This is our love’s ecstasy and the hour, We find our destiny and feel God’s hand Of heavenly force and cosmic power. Love is God’s music in His angelic band; Its divine nature touches our souls true. We find our destiny and feel God’s hand. God’s love for us binds us like cosmic glue; Its divine nature touches our souls true. Thanks so much Jan for dropping by and for your wonderful comments here. This was the first Terzanelle I've written. It combines the power of the Villanelle format with the subtlety of the interweaved rhyming of the Terza Rima. I've already written a couple of Villanelles in the past, but this format has this additional twist that makes it perhaps more challenging. I plan to do more of these. Picking a workable theme is also important for this particular write. Cheers and Best!! Gary
