The Seasons of Love

Oh, love in spring, you’re peridot, and new’s the grass; with dew - aglow! On clovered knoll ourselves we fling. You’re peridot, oh love in spring! In summer’s sun, love blazes red, and to the dune at dusk we’re led neath cobalt sky that’s crimson spun. Love blazes red in summer’s sun. When fall arrives, our hues change oft. Like leaves through winds of life we waft. Then comes the chill, but love still thrives. Our hues change oft when fall arrives. When snow descends, we’re changed to white, the color of reflected light. And though we die, pure love transcends. We’re changed to white when snow descends. Glorious writing of love and seasons and colors, in the style of the classic Romantic poets. This was bookmarked as one of my favorites in your Seasonal-Go-Round chapbook, and a delight to read again (sending to my Favs here, finally). Warm congratulations on your podium finish, dear friend. Summer's almost here!

Lol ... "The word peridot, I did not know. But now I do because of you! You can also pronounce it with the "T" - fine for some, but not for me!" Andrea, I enjoyed your progression of the seasons of love. As I read this I see my wife and me in late fall. (That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.) Congratulations on your podium finish on Mile 2 of my 2022 Poetry Marathon contest. Mile 3 has already started!

Thanks so much, Mark. I actually won a monetary award on this one in a ShadowPoetry contest a long time ago so it's very special to me, and I am so happy you liked it. (I always pronounced peridot without the t, so I guess we both learned something!!)

Andrea What a stunning and wonderfully written poem, full of imagery and sweetness that touches the reader in a gentle and kind way. Thank you for the great comment on my Revised Group poem. Yes, I am either going to put that one or the original version in the contest. Not sure which one yet.

This is a very graceful poem with beautiful lyrical emotions flowing in the lines as love grows, matures and transcends! I liked how you flipped the two sections of L1 and L4 in the stanzas, that was really very nicely done. Congrats Andrea on a fine win and thank you soooo much for honoring my contest. Love you dear,, huggs!!!
