The Same Color

I am black, and you are white, my friend On the surface, it would seem we are two completely different human beings But cut me, watch me bleed This is where we share our common bond of unity It's in the blood, brother Our blood is the same as one another, our blood is all the same color Scarlet are my sins, color me bloody red ... I have been spiritually dead But I got revived, born again Now I have a new set of eyes; I see everyone as my sister and brother, my family is your father and mother Yes, cut me, watch me bleed My heart bleeds for peace and harmony Blood brothers let us all be, let love multiply, let love abound aplenty It's in the blood, sister Our blood is the same as one another, our blood is all the same color

Hi Freddie, I love reading your poems. Because they always have good messages. I agree, the blood running through our veins is same . We're all apart of one big family "the human race". Excellent job my friend. This needs to be poem of the year because of it's profound message. If I could rate this piece higher I would. A without doubt seven and a fav. :-) Alexis

Freddie my friend, my brother, your words are wise and should be common sense, but sadly it seems they are not. We are all the same and when that realization comes to everyone, then true happiness I believe can be felt all across the land. Your poem should be read by everyone.

May I start by calling you my brother? Your loving poem gives me that right! Look at my poem which is placed among the one hundred best poems ever written in the Poetrysoup, placed number 61: "World Day Against Racism" and you will see we think and feel the same, as we all should think! A seven my friend, my brother, Freddie!
