The New Wisconsin

I'm going to write a few words, about this state that has gone wrong. Where we used to hunt, every morning at the crack of dawn. Same time we go fishing, as the season came along. We have plenty of football fans, most of them are true. The baseball fans we have are pretty loyal too. But the farmers just keep on, always getting screwed. So now their is nothing, left for them to do. The tax man keeps right on, beating on the door. Saying "Come on sell me your land, I think I need some more!" They no longer now have one job, instead they now need two. This definitely isn't the cheese state, that I once knew. All these new subdivisions, are popping up everywhere? What once was nice farm land, now sits empty and bare. No one can afford, to build any houses there? But there's that old tax man, who just doesn't care. People selling their homes, everywhere you go. They work their whole lives, with nothing left to show. What happened to the simple life? No one really knows? This is the new Wisconsin, and that's the way that life goes.

Wow. Excellent poem. Very sad though. When I was in Navy school in Great Lakes, in 1958, most of us went to Chicago, but I loved Millwakie (I know that's misspelled). I met a German girl there (Arla Breck). She showed me how to polka, by the live music of Bill Haley, and the Comets, at the veterans hall. Her dad was a mink farmer: raised them for their fur.

This is a good one, my ex girlfriend would like this. She is born and bread in WI. I've been there myself some years ago as a kid when I lived in MN. I think this is happening in many states across the US, big businesses pushing the common man aside-not a good thing!
