Love is a drug

"I've tasted love heroin and will never have that high again".. (paraphrased quote one from "Notting Hill") Love heroin is very potent stuff. It’s not like other drugs; it is for free. There is no ban on it, but it is tough to keep that high. It has no guarantee. Some folks I know can make it last and last. With just one hit, they’re good for sometimes years! For most, this drug’s effects can wear off fast, and then withdrawal brings them pain and tears. Love heroin can bring such fevered bliss, some addicts wreck their lives for it, or worse, would kill for it, so I can tell you this - expecting it to last is its great curse. Hi Andrea! Good to hear from you. Not sure what "love heroin" is unless you're saying love (sex) is an addiction. For many it is. Also, not a sonnet lover but tbis one (to your credit as a writer) is clear and well written, with great rhymes. And thank you for your many hits to my site. Much appreciated. / M

Love is definitely an addictive drug and your poem says expresses this so wonderfully. And it only takes once and you are hooked, I know, I am. :)

Love is indeed like a drug. Once you are hooked, you feel you can't live without it. You did a splended job relating that in your entry Andrea. It is like a roller coaster for me. Haha! 7 ; )
