The Living Know

“5For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know anything, nor have they any longer a reward, for their memory is forgotten.” Eccl 9:5 NASB What do the living know? They know that they will die, But the dead know nothing— Can’t see, or feel, or cry. Their love, their hate and jealousy— Have vanished from under the sun. They have not a part in anything; All lack of consciousness begun. Who is it that visits in spirit, The loved ones of the dead? They’re called demonic spirits, Posing as angelic beings instead. The dead are silently sleeping, As did Lazarus in his grave; Awaiting Christ’s Second Coming; All the righteous to be saved. The living know that death awaits them; Some much sooner than it ought. Others long for the day of death, When by much pain they’re caught. When Christ comes back to save us, The righteous dead will hear his voice; They will arise from their graves, Because Christ was their choice. The living are truly conscious Of what God’s done for them, But the dead know nothing; Their rose has a broken stem. The wicked don’t go to heaven When in sin they die; The righteous await their immortality At the Saviour’s coming— Will hear his, “Awake, Awake” loud cry!
