The Dream

Chicken, Chicken my delight
You arouse my appetite
And I will savor every bite
Of you in blissful sleep this night

Deep in dream a heavenly meal
A welcome change from mutton and veal
But hunger pangs brew in my head
My stomach stirs about in bed

Midnight cravings for your meat
Rise me up upon my feet
Draw me to my kitchenette
My mouth now primed and dripping wet

Chicken scraps upon a plate
Are basted as I salivate
They're not enough I yearn for more
I open up the freezer door

The microwave I set on high
Hens cook and cackle, start to fry
Warmed up chicken I eat whole
I'll not wait for casserole

Chicken, Chicken my delight
You aroused my appetite
Now that I am somewhat full
I think I'll make that casserole

When I did wake I was surprised
All my pillows had been disguised
                                          As chickens
Sorely then I realized
I was stuf-fed full
And 'twasn't chickens
I ate
At all

Jon Another cute and humorous write. This guy better spice up and marinate his pillows if he's going to keep dreaming of food. LOL Nice job Hugs

hahaha, you have such a great humor and imagination. I did one like this too. Only I was twisted up in vines in my poet's dream, and they ended up being red licorice vines. wEll, I wish I had time to see even more, but I need to head home now from my job Have a great day. Andrea

Did you hear about the guy who was eating shredded wheat in a dream? When he woke up, he saw half the mattress was gone. Good write with some good descriptiveness and rhyming.

You should think about publishing a children's book with cozy stories Jon. Love it - very clever. - Oxox love Anne-Lise :)
