The Dove In Your Eyes

How fast to wiles I fell my damask rose, awake from slumber slept untold ages. To gaze so deep in ocean eyes repose, and print whispered prayer on mind's pages. Your soul in gleaming shadow found complete, a thirst no other want or wish contrived. Nor cherry grown upon the branch so sweet, without cold and dark of Winter survived. What heart loved without a madness looming, secure from injury sure to tarnish. Unbroken, though lone in sadness' glooming, and held away from love's fruited garnish. How true the dove devoted in flight still, that lasted in love, more than ever will.

Thy Shakespearean sonnet doth delight mine senses, a masterpiece crafted with skill and grace. The meter, the flow, the rhyme, all sublime, evoking echoes of Romeo and Juliet, a cherished tale close to my heart. Thy words resonate deeply, weaving a tapestry of beauty and longing. Well done, indeed.

Very nice poem. Like juicy ape or a bowl of cherries on a hot summer day.

I occasionally find myself lusting after a succulent ape, drawn by primal instincts buried deep within my being. When twilight descends, do we not all revert to our primal essence, mere apes cloaked in flesh and flowing humors? How delectable the thought.

My goodness, what a gem, this reminds me so much of a sonnet like Shakespere himself would have written. I was so lucky to find another poem of yours I have missed!

"What heart loved without a madness looming" ... not any love worth keeping, I'd say. Bring on the insanity :) An eye-catching title that brings wings to vision. Certainly a sonnet that brings to mind the olden days of classical poetry - I'm still quite the fan of your Scarecrow/Moon poem, myself. Keep 'em coming, my friend.

A truly magnificent sonnet my friend. Every verse golden and the entire piece awes me! *As of old, the verses that sing very well. *As was in romantic beauty oft told. *Casting a great and awe inspiring spell. * Art covered in bright yellow gold. * Delicious as freshest red rose smells. I think sonnet form is best used for romantic lines and this one leaves nothing left to desire. It's made sweeter with thought that doves mate for life. My favorite line..."What heart loved without a madness looming..." Love is a madness in a caliber of its own. Wonderfully scribed, Richard.
