The Call of a Hawk II

The high, keen call
of a hawk wheels in air;

tosses against tiered trees; knocks
against barnwood darkened by wet and wind

softens by meadow grasses; quickens,
and tumbles down a hillside, skidding

through wet leaves to drown
in a swollen creek.
