SUNFLOWERS

Stems that stretch out to reach warmth Undulating in a dewy field Nodding approval to passersby Flowers that stand out, boasting huge blooms Leaving lasting impressions Our hearts keep these memories When they fade in autumn’s chill Each bloom scatters seeds Replenishing the specie and ensuring their return when Summer beckons once more *May 21, 2021 For Malabika Ray Choudhury’s Sunflower contest

Reads like a good contender to me. Way to go for the contest. They make a lovely field and the seeds are delicious. Birds love them as well. Thanks for the visit to my page. Sara

Such a beautiful poem, Carolyn! You bring these flowers to life, and though I often see sunflowers when in season, my mind automatically takes me to Tuscany in Italy, where endless stretches of them can be so very pleasantly overwhelming! ~ Warm regards & Hugs // paul

Fantastic acrostic. I'll never forget the day I saw a field of dead sunflowers and wondered why they leave them there. I was told it was for their oil. Well written.
