State of mind

State of Mind?

Sleeplessness, eagerness, dizziness?
Calmly lay myself to sleep,
Awaiting to be awakened in the wee hours of the morning.
Not so eager to get out of bed, *Yawn*
Safe slumber, umm… it welcomes me under.
Already? Am I awake or am I sleeping?
This reality or fiction?
"I stand amid the roar
 Of a surf-tormented shore,"
Disoriented, disillusioned, confused,
Twisting and turning, hardly amused.
I must not be sleeping, I can hear all that surrounds me.
Where do I find myself now? This really can’t be?
Where am I going? Where am I running?
Okay, now I think I’m dreaming?
Oddly enough, I can feel the sun.
Oh wait, the image is shifting… it is in fact morning.

Honorable mention: Egar Allan Poe

Terry O'Leary: Very well interpreted. I like your attention to details. I find sleep/semi-awake/awake to be a very interesting subject to dip into. Why not pain the canvas as brightly, so it may be seen for all to see? ;) Cheers! Dark_Mistress (Aka, Manon)

I am not a pro on any form of poetry but...I know when I read a poem if I have enjoyed it. Now I have read yours and I have indeed enjoyed it Manon. I wish you a wonderful weekend and hope you find much inspiration to continue with your writing endeavors. Love, Carol

An interesting description of rousing/awakening from some type of conscious/semi-conscious state... Very nice, Manon... Terry (I've felt that way - a state of confused 'consciouness' - sometimes even when I haven't been sleeping...)
