Spirit of the wind

Echo I hear its calling in the air
A field of golden rod fluttering in the autumn breeze
A worn straw-hat on a weathered deck chair
An old man’s garden and a harvest that appeased
Oh hello to today filled with change goodbye to summer
Your ruined green pastures have been pickled to a bronze
Such a pretty demise for something so free
Changing trails with sunken stones
Who knows how many tomorrow are left to see
Where tan colored faces will fade its tones
A color of patchwork of orange peel and crimson foliage shower us with its surrender
A memory of messy faces with ice-cream cones
So for now we weep the joyous painted colors you muster
A joy to the mind’s eye
A stream of cranberry red bushes a wonder luster
And he smiles waiting with his basket of pride and his summer-like complexion
His eyes filled with hope and dinner time anticipation
A dying leave passes his face right in his walking direction
No worries just a joy he has for his outdoor affections
